May 1, 2012Latitude D505 keyboard causing beeps on boot.Beeps do not correspond to any of the beep codes (they are approximately 8 beeps long).Letter g is continuously activated (tested using word and letter is continuously displayed on page and never stops)
PST revealed no problems, also no virus on system from scanning.Verified that it is either the keyboard or the port on the mother board, as removal of keyboard prevents the beeps and activation of letter g.External keyboard working well with no problems. how to check whether the problem is the keyboard or the motherboard's port, as I want to purchase a replacement. Would a latitude D820 keyboard have the same pin arrangements to test the mother board's port?

No problem re-booting etc but now some kets along top 2 rows not working.After a day - do you think there's any chance these will spring back into life?Do Lenovo supply any on-site repair options (at a cost obviously).....can't spare time at moment to send away - even for a couple of days.

Is there a different type of upgrade disc for XP to Vista than upgrading from Vista to different versions of Vista? I want to make sure I am looking at the proper disc before purchasing. Jan 4, 2009I want to upgrade the hard drive in my Acer 4720 But i am confused with the hard drive types, the hard drives in my Acer4720 and D620 look different to the hard drive in my older C300 ... the Acer c300 has like pins where the hard drive connects to the computer whereas the ones on the dell and the 4720 look totaly different.

Nov 20, 2014My Recovery E: Folder is full -- 31.9MB free of 14.6GB - Windows Vista. I keep getting pop ups/messages saying that my E: folder is almost full, and occasionally that I should close my internet browser so I don't lose information.Â
Some of them discussions said to go into the E: folder and delete files which should be there (can't access it the folder -- there's only a warning message) or to change the Drive Letter (get a message that says it cannot remove "the letter drive of your volume", and now I'm not sure what I should do next.

Apr 1, 2014I turn on my laptap and it start up normally. All are loaded up in the homescreen except the cursor which keeps on loading ( its like when you refresh). All keys are not working except to the CapsLock key, the touchpad and trackpoint ( color red) are working.
I remove the power source and battery to shut it down but it doesn't shut down! Now it is running for 5 minutes, and the screen still ON, continue to refresh. How to shut this down and restart.

Jan 18, 2014I just got a brand new thinkpad X240, with 500G HD, Win8. I installed a Win7 on this new SSD, then replaced original 500G HD in X240 with this new SSD. However, after I replaced, computer cannot boot , it got stuck with BOOT MENU section, no matter you choose any options..In the Boot Menu, I saw boot devices: one is my new SSD. I click it, it does not work. I tried several times. (PC can recognize my SSD, just dont know why it cannot read it.)Â
I am sure this SSD is working, since I tested on different computers, they can boot successfully.Â

Jul 14, 2014We bought 12 X240 pc's and installed a Windows 7 64bit OS on them. We are having problems on several laptop (5 so far) that they freeze several times a day. The mouse icon changes in the processing icon, you can still move your mouse but can't click anything or even press ctrl + alt + del. Have to long press the power key to get them to power off.

I already read that there were problems with the fingerprint reader software, uninstalled it but still having the problems (fingerprint reader is disabled in BIOS). Also upgraded the fingerprint reader software to the latest version on another pc, but same problem.

Ran solution center on one of the PC's, didn't find any problems. Ran system update and updated all to the latest version. Also tried to change the power settings to Performance mode in windows. But problem keeps coming back.

I tried installing the latest Intel graphics driver, but it fails to start stating that you need a version from the manufacturer. No error messages in the windows event logs.

Oct 6, 2014My Lenovo Labtop X240 /w Windows 8.1 (x64) can't Hibernate (immediate resume after Hibernate). It success for Sleep, Shutdown, but when I set Hibernate by close lid, Power button, or Hibernate on Menu. Windows try to Hibernate, and immediate recover to windows.
Now, i done for
-Upgrade Windows, Driver, Lenover, Intel
-run MSconfig set "Selective start up" turn off "non Microsoft services" and Disable "Start up services"Â
-Run Power troublesshooting on windows

Jul 7, 2014I want to install an additional M.2 SSD to my X240. As far as I know, X240 has three M.2 port:
 - One single side M.2 for wireless card
 - One single side M.2 42 mm for WWAN (3G card). Mine is empty in this slot.
 - One double side M.2 for cache drive.
For M.2 cache drive, I dont know if my machine has it. I dont have smart card reader module either.
But I do have the single M.2 42 mm.
I want to buy a SSD:Â MyDigitalSSD Super Boot Drive 42mm SATA III (6G) M.2 2242 NGFF SSD (128GB (120GB)) But it is double side (B and M key).
tell me if I can install it to M.2 slot of WWAN module?

Lenovo X Series ThinkPad :: Mobile Broadband Hardware Not Detected In X240
Dec 22, 2014I have a new X240. It has a sim card slot on the right side. I am running Windows 7 Enterprise 64 bit.

it seems that the x240 does not recognize wwan hardware. I can't find it in the device manager. It doesn't connect to any network when I insert a SIM card. Also, no unknown devices show up in the device manager. I installed the following drivers in an attempt to fix the issue:
-Ericsson N5321gw wireless WAN
-Sierra Wireless 7355 - Gobi 5000

I also tried running commands in cmd window to check the status of the wwan:
-netsh mbn sh int
-netsh mbn sh cap int=*

... but I always get the same message: "Mobile Broadband Service (wwansvc) is not running"

I am starting to think that having a sim card slot does not neccessarily mean that the x240 is Mobile Broadband capable.
Lenovo X Series ThinkPad :: X240 Won't Sleep Properly After Upgrade To Windows 8.1
Apr 27, 2014I made the mistake of upgrading my X240 to Windows 8.1, and now the sleep function won't work properly. Â I've updated all of the drivers and I've been on the phone with Lenovo support to no avail. Â Everything worked perfectly before the 8.1 upgrade.

When I close the lid now, the screen goes off, but the computer doesn't go to sleep; if you open the lid, the screen comes back on immediately. Â If the lid is closed for a while, and is then reopened, the login screen comes up. Â But in the Windows 8.1 settings, it is set to NOT show the login screen. Â If the lid is closed for a long time, the computer will shut down completely.

If you go to the Windows menu and click on "Sleep," the screen will go dark although it's clear the computer is still running. Â Pressing the on/off button does nothing. Â The only way to get the screen to come back on is to shut the computer down completely and restart it.

I tried uninstalling the Lenovo Instant On Beta program, but without that, closing the lid shuts off the screen with no way to wake it up, the same thing that happens by clicking Sleep on the Windows menu. Â So it appears that the Instant On Program partially overrides whatever bad behavior is being caused by Windows.
What driver, software, or settings could be causing this? Â I've looked at various threads about sleep issues, but none of them seem to apply to my situation, or the solutions they recommended (like unchecking the power management features on some of the drivers) didn't solve the problem.

Sep 22, 2011I have an X240, latest BIOS as of today, 2.21.1.12. FnLk gets disabled when the laptop comes back from so-called Deep Sleep mode.

This problem is also described in the T400/T500 section and there is a work around posted : disable Deep Sleep (30 Day Standby) in Lenovo Settings app in Metro UI.
