I read the clean install without activation, but must have missed something along the way. Is there a different type of upgrade disc for XP to Vista than upgrading from Vista to different versions of Vista? I want to make sure I am looking at the proper disc before purchasing. There are several on eBay, all look to be the same type of disc. My goal is to do the clean install, and if possible go from 32 to 64 bit now that I have 4 GB of ram and a t9300 to install.
What is the difference between the recovery DVDs packaged with my new HP laptop and the recovery discs that they recommend making once with the Vista Recovery manager?
I tried to burn recovery discs for my new rig with Sony brand DVD+Rs, and after gathering info, writing, and finally checking, it tells me it's unsuccessful (this is after burning disc 1 of 2). I've tried a few times with the same result. Anyone know what the deal is here? Do I need a special high quality disc or could it be something else?
I need a set of recovery discs for my DV6-1210SA notebook because one of my discs are corrputed. I have a Rapidshare Premium Account so if any of you have the same model, it would be great if you could upload to rapidshare and I will be willing to download it. I have an AMD processor QL-65 and a ATI Graphics card.
any HPDV range of laptop that are installed with 64bit Vista on the AMD version ?
Secondly does anyone know the cost of a Vista 64bit recovery disc for the AMD processor TL-58 1.9Ghz laptop and if so where to buy it from as I know one exists for the Intel version ?
Ive tried HP website & they weren't very helpful.
Ive also tried a retail version of Vista 64 + 32 bit,but some of the drivers are missing & cant be found, resulting in a half usable laptop.
There has to be an HPDV laptop model that comes with this software pre-installed.
Otherwise HP have seen to it that Im stuck with out being able to upgrade.
I have a DV9535nr and I want to do a clean install to get rid of crapware. BestBuy furnished me a set of discs (at no cost unlike some I have read about) but will these contain the crap I want to eliminate? When I try to run the recovery disc feature and make my own from my hard drive it tells me a set has been made (yeah, yeah, ok ok MS/HP) so it looks like BestBuy beat me to it.
I ordered a set from HP to be on the safe(r) side but have read in this forum that these might not be such a good idea, either... bugs etc...
I want to upgrade the hard drive in my Acer 4720 But i am confused with the hard drive types, the hard drives in my Acer4720 and D620 look different to the hard drive in my older C300 ... the Acer c300 has like pins where the hard drive connects to the computer whereas the ones on the dell and the 4720 look totaly different.
what is this "Different" drive called so that I can order the correct one?
I have been sent 2 system recovery dvd's and one supplemental disc by hp. I put them into my drive and nothing happens. How do I start this procedure? I thought maybe all that I hav to do was wait until it started automatically (didn't happen) or click on the Boot option - nothing happens there either. I Have an HP Compaq Presario CQ60 Laptop with Windows 7 home premium. What to do? I am NOT a very sophisticated computer user. I need to do the recovery as I've had a total crash.
My netbook Lenovo Ideapad S110 keyboard alway types uppercase letters, even if the caplock key are turning on or off. I must press Shift+Fn before press any letter key for lower-case letter. x it!
I have some issues with my video since I upgrade the nvidia drivers from the nvidia web site. I removed the drivers and I reinstalled the original ones with the same results.
Does the Windows drivers upgrade also upgrades the video firmware as well?
I bought this dell xps 15z in 2011. I have been trying to get it to accept discs, but it will not. It will take the disc in, makes a noise like its loading, but then spits it right out>
when i put my recovery discs in, i cant sem how to use them.
i cant run program or anything, i cant seem how to use them.
for some reason i can only get bluray discs to run on the acer arcade thing and windows media centre(which just turns acer arcade and plays it through that)
iv tried vlc player and windows media player 1 and neither work
also my partitions are 140gb each.
im guessing the other is for storeing stuff and backups.
but how can i make it so i have like 250gb for the first partition and only 30-40gb for the second one?
I have had this laptop for 2 years now. Unfortunately I have misplaced the recovery discs - need as I need to reinstall Vista from scratch. Where / how can I get replacements or download?
I have SR490PBB bought from CDW last week and its recovery partition that contain Window XP has been deleted. Of course, I didn't create my discs as I was stupid. I tried to get support from Sony and it is not covered under warranty and they have hard time getting Recovery Discs as they said it new model.
If any of you have VGN-SR490PBB, help me get recovery discs. I think it will work for me too. I really need and want Window XP.
When I did a clean install of Vista on my computer, I must have wiped out the program that plays the Blu-ray discs, because it doesn't do anything when I put a disc in. Is there a way I can download this program again, or does anyone recommend another program to use instead?
I bought the above laptop over a year ago with Vista Home Premium installed, with the usual partition including the recovery software. Did I make my recovery discs? No, I did not and subsequently had a hard drive failure that resulted in the partition being lost too. I managed to put an old copy of XP on which has been fine upto now. I just bought an xbox and want to put vista on my computer so I can use the Windows media centre. Is there any other way I can get the recovery software without using Acer directly?
I've come across these recovery discs that portable1 is selling for the vaio z series:

i have recently unable to restore my vaio to factory state from both the dvds i created nor from the partition. is it possible for me to use one of these?
do the windows come preactivated? what prevents me from buying the vista ultimate recovery set then? i have vista business.
This is my first time re installing OS 10 and would like to ask a question. If I do a clean install with the os x discs, will all the ilife applications be gone?
My mom's laptop failed over a week ago. It wouldn't get past repairing disc errors, even if left alone for 8+ hours. I tried the windows Reset option from the advanced repair menu (Originally came with Windows 8). It started the reset process, but since it was going extremely slow, and I had to work the next day, I left it to go over night. I'm not sure what happened, but it wouldn't even let me get to the advanced options menu anymore. So I ordered the recovery discs from HP.
Those came on Friday, and I have been working with changing different settings in the BIOS, yet I still can't get the notebook to boot from the 1st cd. It says "Push any key to boot from CD/DVD" which I then hit enter, and it just black screens for up to 45 minutes. I'm not ure how the BIOS needs to be set up, and I'm not sure why it would give me that message, then not boot. When i hit F11 during startup, It shows the HP Logo for a while, then black screens for about 20 minutes, then I get an error page saying there is a necessary disc or device missing. I have disconnected and reconnected the hard drive, reseated the RAM.
