Jul 28, 2009I have installed Xp in bootcamp and installed the driver , everything worked fine, but the area above the keyboard gets quite hot.
So i downloaded "Lubbo's MacBook Pro Fan Control" but when i extract the zip and click on the LubbosFanControl.exe i get an error in profile , how do i install , what am i doing wrong.

First thing I did was trying to pair it by holding the menu and forward button for 5 seconds, multiple times. The problem is, it doesn't seem to get paired.

Feb 18, 2009well last night and this morning i was busy making my self a home made cooling pad, with some crap laying around the house. I don't know if there is already one but i'll put this one up. I will upload pictures tomorrow. The total project was about 1 hour and cost less than $10. It also has a speed control which is cool (it is built on my ac/dc adapter so you will make yours). My mother-tongue is not English but French, so excuse the words i might use or not use. Also their are some tools i couldn't translate the name, but when pics are up I'm sure you will know..................

Oct 14, 2009Anyone else having problems with DCP 1.3000 A12 (or something like that) on Vista x64?
Specs are in my sig.
Basically, after installing the newest DCP today, I lost control of screen brightness and the Auto-Light Sensor, meaning I can't change the brightness levels, NOR does the ALS affect brightness levels. I still have control of the keyboard backlight though.
After trying the 2 older DCP versions on Dell's site, the results were the same. The ALS version never changed.

Dec 25, 2009I did a clean install of Win 7 Pro and now the IDT control panel has disappeared along with the system tray icon.

Oct 30, 2009I don't know what has happened or if someone changed something but every single time I change the brightness control to 100% 2 seconds later it goes back to 0%. This is even when it is plugged in or has a full batter.
Even when i switch to that has brightness set to like 80% nothing happens. I went to maxium preformace profile and for some reason it is set to 0% when I change it to 100% and hit apply 2 seconds later it changes back to 0%.
Out side of windows(ie the login screen) I can change my brightness to 100% and it will stay there it's when I login it reverts to 0%.
I have the acer aspire 5100 laptop. Is there anyway someone could have changed something that makes this happen?

Sony :: FW Bloatware Control
Jun 16, 2009I have recently purchased a custom fw series from sony style. Its great, apart from the performance. I have a 2.4ghz, 320gb 5400rpm, 4gb ddr2 ram, ati 3650 model, but internet browsing seems slow compared to my sisters 2.4ghz 2gb ddr3 ram macbook unibody.
I guess this is because of all the applications on the sony. I do not do any photo/video editing stuff all I do on the laptop is internet browsing, movie watching, listen to music and do office documents.
Does anyone know what I can safely uninstall to reduce the processes number, most of the time its 98, and thereby increase the performance.
Currently windows task manager says the cpu usage is 12% and physical memory is 40%, I have no idea what that means so if someone could explain I'd be very grateful.
One final point, I have heard that new computer owners are supposed to create recovery disks?What are these and are they actually needed?

I disabled "fan always on AC" in the bios.
The fan is always on. It doesn't disturb at the lowest level, but it ramps up every 5 mins or so for 2 or 3 seconds. I find that ramping up disturbing and would like to disable it. Considering how cool the air coming out is compared to laptops I have had in the past (Thinkpads and Toshiba) I would say HP is being conservative with their settings.
Is there a program or some bios setting?

Dec 6, 2009I just bought a new dv6 on black friday from staples, the dv6-1334 with a t4300/4gb ram.
Is anyone having trouble inserting their remote control into the slot on the left side of the laptop? My remote won't really fit...i can get it about 90% of the way in, but when i push to click it in/click it out, its like its stuck with sticky goo or something, it goes in really slowly to lock in place and comes out really slowly when i click it out of place.
Other than the media remote control issue, I'm liking this ALOT more than my tx2500 tablet with better cpu and graphics/video card.

Nov 3, 2009I have a DV9000 laptop and I have problem with the fan control and the Heat Sink. The tempeture of the GPU and CPU go very high (GPU 60 and CPU 48), but the fan runs very slow, like if the tempeture is ok and after that the computer stops. As well I want to replace the pads from the heat sink, so I would like to know which types of pads I should use for this computer and where the GPU is located, because there are three chips (the CPU in right side, one in the middle and another in the left side with the nvidia signature). my computer is Intel Duo and the bios is version D.25.

May 2, 2010As stated, I'm looking for a way to bypass the video card bios for controlling screen brightness. I'm imagining taking whatever wires there are to powering the inverter and having a switch on it to switch from bios to manual control, with another knob to adjust the voltage coming in. Does the inverter change the voltage given to the bulb? or the current?
I'm assuming soldering is involved, just seeing if anyone thinks it's possible.
Also for the inspirons, what IS the normal (aka max brightness) voltage, anyone know offhand?
