I got my Dell 1557 about a month ago and for a while, it seemed just fine with my display brightness.
I could change it to however bright I want it to be. Then today, when I turned on my computer, my settings for my display brightness was at the highest when it normally is in the middle.
At first I thought nothing of it because I could easily change it with the F4 and F5 buttons, but after I logged on and tried to change it, nothing happened. Not even after I restarted the computer or reinstall the ATI Catalyst Center.
I've done a search and couldn't find anything relevant.
My FZ of 28 months old has suddenly started making a faint buzzing noise from the screen.
At first I thought it was the fan, but I realized it's the LCD. I can't change the brightness for some reason using Windows 7 but it's on Max Bright. I've seen some threads of people having this problem on lowered brightness levels but this is happening on full.
When I shut the lid, the buzzing stops. It can be heard if I stand behind the laptop or place my ear beside either rear corner of the laptop.
I did a clean install of Windows 7. I did not load all that crap from the 2nd CD.I am trying to determine which Drivers I need to install.
I installed the VAIO® Event Service and Sony® Shared Library.
What is strange is, when I click on the FN button and press the increase brightness key, the brightness meter does appear on the screen, but it will not go above the lowest setting.
The brightness on my HP 15-r018dx Notebook PC won't change, not using the function keys or the slider in "Power Options". This started happening two days ago; before then I had no issues. I am not sure what changed between then and now.
I just re-imaged my laptop with Windows7.  Then installed some of the drivers from support page, HP hotkey driver is installed.  Now I find I can't change backlight  brightless via Fn+F9/F10.  But meantime, I am able to change volumn via Fn+F6/F7.  It's looks like only the brightless Fn key doesn't work. Â
I can't adjust or change my brightness with the hotkey (F11 and F12) or even with the slider in settings. option brightness of my laptop doesn"t change it is stationary.
My HP Probook 450 is with Windows 7 and the combination FN + F9/F10 is not working. The other FN keys seem to be in order, but I can't change the brightness of the desktop directly with the FN keys.
I bought a dv3t-2000 two months ago and recently i installed windows 7 and i just realize that is not possible to change the brightness on the screen, is always the same. I have tried changing the power plans, I've upgraded the BIOS, but so far is not working.
After updating my Thinkpad T540p, I cannot adjust the brightness in anyway. This is a problem because the screen is too birght and eats up battery. Â It appears the only way to adjust the brightness is to use Intel HD Graphics, which isn't so convenient. Â Fn keys don't work. changing the brightness on the Power Manager settings doesn't work. There is no brightness option on Windows Power Manager. Â I have Intel HD Graphics 4600 10.18.10.3960 I have Lenovo Power Manager 6.66.3 Â Edit: In fact, I think it's posisble that Power Manager to just outright no longer works.
I can't change my laptop brightness neither with F2 and F3 keys nor in the settings. I have already updated all my drivers but still have no response when adjusting brightness. I have an hp pavilion sleekbook 15
For some reason I can't change my screen brightness anymore. I've already tried a HD 4000 driver rollback to version 9.17.10.3223 and I also disabled "adaptive screen brightness" at the power management. For some reason I can change the brightness by using the "microsoft basic display adapter" driver instead of the HD 4000 but that isn't a real solution.
Suddenly I can't change my screen brightness with f2 and f3, and neither in control panel. Is there a new driver I need to install ? My product number is >Â G6S71UA#ABA
I own a 3.5 years old Acer Aspire 5742G (Core i3 M380; NVIDIA540M). the heat sink or the collinig fan might have some issue as it usually gets overheated when playing games (even CS condition zero/1.6). I don't play games anymore, so its not a problem. Â The problem is that I am unable to adjust the screen brightness from the keyboars shortcut (Fn+ Left/Right arrow key), neither from the control panel (Power Settings).
Although I do noticed something that, if I change my brightness settings (nothing happens) and I close the laptop lid (display screen) by folding it down and openeing it back after 3-4 seconds, the brightness is now changed.
Screen automatically dims as I go in little dark areas and gets too bright when it has so much light around it. I am trying Fn+ arrow keys but they make very less difference. Is there any way to control this? Â I am using Windows 8.1 and display drivers are Intel HD Graphics Family version 10.18.10.3316.
I can't change my monitor's resolution and the screen brightness after I upgrade the windows from windows 7 ultimate to windows 8.1 pro build 9600I've already installed graphic card , but i can't change my resolution more than 1024x768 My laptop is HP 431 with intel core i3-2310m CPU @ 2.10 GHz , AMD Graphics HD 7450M , DDR3 1 GB (i don't know why , but i've already installed AMD Graphics HD 7400M Series because my notebook isn't compatible with other AMD Graphics) , OS 64-bit
I have installed the latest driers and since then I am unable to change the screen brightness using function keys. I have installed multiple driver updates hence it is difficult to find out which driver is causing the issue.
My Aspire E15's brightness is locked at maximum capacity. I can't change it in power options or with the Fn key. It is the same whether connected to the AC adapter or not. While using the Fn key and pressing Fn+Left Key or Fn+Right Key, the on-screen brightness indicator alternates between two levels but the brightness of the screen doesn't change.
I have Inspiron 9300. Unfortunately, my geforce 6800 died and I bought as a replacement x300 which was installed by a laptop repair service (they fixed other thins too.
It was due to power surge). Everything works but when I boot up the computer or when the display is set to be turned off in the power settings in Windows instead of being actually turned off the display is on and is all white.
Also brightness regulation does not work via Fn +arrows keys and is set to maximum and the white color is so intense that I get a headache after a couple of hours staring at the screen.
Was this ever resolved? I am having the same issue on the same computer that I cannot manually adjust the screen brightness using the function + F2 or function + F3 screen brightness keys.
I have a new T540p with Windows 8.1 and fn+f5/f6 do nothing, while sound buttons work fine. Is there any way to change screen backlight brightness, coz it too birght for me by default.
I have had my laptop for a couple of weeks. I am no longer able to change the brightness with f2/f3 as well as from battery settings. Â Â Model:HP ENVY 15t-u000 x360 CTO Convertible PC
I've recently bought an HP Probook430 and installed Windows 7 Ultimate 32bit and I don't seem to be able to change the display brightness, using the fn button+f9/f10 (although volume settings are changed in the same method smoothly).
Although the brightness settings don't seem to change, this bar does appear when pressing fn+f9/f10. What should I do in order to make the display brightness settings changable?
Is that possible to install Windows XP sp2 on DEll Studio 1557 with Windows Vista Home Premium pre installed?
Getting the error acpi.sys on the blue screen when installing the XP.tried googling it, was told to disable acpi, but that option is not available in this bios.
heard that, we can download the sata drivers for XP and integrate them into XP bootable installation disc?? also, can we press F6 when loading XP, and insert the drivers cd of vista to install the raid drivers and resume the setup with XP?
I`ve just recived my 1557 and after 4 days of using it i can tell you this...
I HATE IT! I can`t really use it without overheating! I`m an Industrial Design student, and i use a lot PS, Solidworks, 3dMax, and various rendering engines. While using them, just after 5 o 6 minutes of rendering, the laptop overheats and turns off.
Just when it starts, core temperature rounds 73/75 degrees celcius... it reaches about 93 while rendering... and i can`t even tell when i`m gaming (i used gta san andreas for 10 minutes before ati 4570 reached 105 degrees and core about 90, then it shutted off). I`m so annoyed.... this really bothers me, in a few weeks i`ve to get back to work and university, and i have a usless "POWERFUL" machine!
I need recommendations for a new laptop, because i`m going to send thisone back next week. I don`t care if it is apple, asus, or hp, i need something wich i can really use, and i need it to be just as powerful as this (or a little less, i don`t care, as long as it really works and do de JOB).
My budget is arround 1500 US dollars.
My 1557 Specs: Core i7 720QM, 4gb DDR3 1066, 320gb 7200rpm, ATi 4570.
I am planning on buying the new Studion 1557 with the i7 CPU.
I would like to verify that with a Windows 7 Pro x64 as host, I can use VMware's VMware Workstation and Sun's VirtualBox for virtualization of both x64 and x86 guest operating systems.
If any one on this forum tried this, or know the answer, I would appreciate it very much
