Dell :: 90 Wat Adapter Strong Enough
Nov 23, 2008
I'm seriously thinking of replacing my Go 7900 GS GPU with a Go 7900 GTX. (within some time because I don't have enough money right now (I'm only 14).
Now is my question, is my adapter going to be strong enough for the Go 7900 GTX? From other hardware, I have a T7400 (2,16 Ghz Core 2 duo) a seagate 7200.3 (Seagate says: "The Seagate® Momentus® 7200.3 laptop hard drive delivers industry-leading 7200-RPM performance while offering the industry’s lowest power consumption levels.") I have 4 GIG hyperx RAM.
And another question: where can I buy a Go 7900 GTX, I found some on EBay, but I don't like that way of buying things. Is there a direct way to buy one from Dell? I searched on their sitre but didn't find any link for spare part GPU's.

T5800 (2.0 GHz), 4 GB RAM, 320 GB 5400 RPM HD, WUXGA display, Blu-Ray Burner, 8400 GS video card, and all the other standard stuff.
I picked it up primarily because I had some minor issues with the HP HDX16T I bought about a month ago. I loved it, but it was really about 2-3 pounds too heavy (with 12 cell battery) and the battery didn't last very long at all. It was similarly equipped, in that it had both the HD display (16" 1920x1080) and Blu-Ray drive (only a reader).
Unfortunately the battery in the XPS really didn't give me quite the performance time boost that I hoped it would, and the display looks like absolute crap compared to the HP (no offense to anyone here).
I had heard all this business about the "grainy" displays from Samsung, but I hoped either I wouldn't be afflicted or just wouldn't notice. Well, turns out I do notice...a lot.
What's worse is that it's inferior to the HP display in every other way too - color reproduction looks way off (everything is WAY too blue out of the box), its less forgiving of viewing angle, and overall the colors are just really muted in comparison.
Is it possible that I just got a bad one? Most of the posts on here indicate the only way to "fix" this issue is to replace your screen, which seems a bit daunting to be honest .....

1.I'm really really picky about keyboards, is it good? i want to buy one tomorrow and im so worried about it, i have Vaio CS16 now and i want a keyboard with same quality, because there's no way to replace apple laptop keyboards in my country, so i want to be sure it works fine for at least 2 years.
2.Is Macbook 13 White keyboard better or Unibody?

Got my MBP yesterday. It came with a 9CC2 screen, which is supposedly AUOptronics.
Contrast is very high, I reckon above 800:1. Colors and viewing angles are very good too. It has one problem: brightness.
I used it outside with sunlight but the backlight was not strong enough to overpower the reflections. My MBA was much brighter, and also the 9C89 screen on my first uMB was brighter.
When I'm working inside the house during the day I'm usually on 1 or 2 stripes from the max.
It's a not a huge problem for me because I did not really plan on keeping it for long but if I buy again I'll probably try to get another screen. Expecially the MB April 2009 screens interest me. I've never seen them in real life though.
Here are some pics of it next to an Asus 1101HA which was measured at 129 nits max by Notebookjournal.
The first three are on full brightness, than half brightness. Keep in mind that photographs can not really give an accurate impression of brightness levels.

I have a Dell Inspiron 1520 and my friend has a Latitude D820.
Tonight she accidentally plugged my power adapter into her laptop. A few hours later, she noticed that her laptop indicated that it wasn't plugged in, and that's when we realized that she had accidentally used my adapter instead of hers.
Now my adapter doesn't work at all. We've tried the adapter with both our laptops with different outlets with the same problem, so we know it's the adapter. The green light also doesn't come on when it's plugged in anymore.
Did plugging my adapter into her laptop somehow screw up my adapter, or could this just be a coincidence? Is there any way to fix the adapter or at least figure out what the problem is? And if I have to purchase a new adapter, do the universal ones they sell at retail electronics stores work OK? I would order one from Dell but I'm working on a project now and I don't have time to wait for it to ship.

I've got Dell Latitude C 640. I had to reinstall the operating system from recovery disks. All was smooth.
Now, when I'm trying to install a driver for the wireless adapter it asks me to remove the adapter first. I can't find it to remove it.

ok so i hv this problem with my dell xps m1330 that it wont charge the battery. and when i turn the laptop on, it gives me message that tht AC adapter can not be recognized, and that the battery may not charge.
i tried reinstalling windows but it still didnt help :S. so i called Dell technical support and talked to this guy for 40 mins, he told me a bunch of stuff , like reseting stuff in BIOS etc. but it didnt work. so at the end he just said to send the laptop for repair.
Even though i still have the manufacturing warranty, but i CANT send my laptop in for repair, bc i really NEED it for my university. And also he wont agree to send me a replacement laptop or anything.
so i really dont know what to do. i know there are alot of experts here, who are way better than dell technical support team. so does any one has an easy way out for this problem

The battery on my vostro 1400 isn't being charged when the adapter is plugged in. However it is providing it with power since the battery doesnt drain when it's plugged in.
Is the problem that the adapter has gotten messed up and the computer doesnt recognize it and won't charge up to protect a possible power incompatibility or that the adapter is still fine and it's actually the battery that is malfunctiona

Recently ran into an issue with the AC adapter not being recognized despite being the original cord and no longer charging the battery. No issues with light on cord flickering or turning off. Purchased a new power cord anyways but problem persists. BIOS shows unknown type for Ac adapter even after BIOS update. Diagnostics scan doesn't detect any problems. URL....
why this occurs and if there is a workaround or repair to re-enable the charging? It appears the laptop is just disabling the charging circuit despite being provided the correct power.

Everytime i have my AC Adapter plugged in when i turn on my laptop, a black screen shows up (in DOS) and says that the AC Adapter is unknown and is not recognized or something is wrong with it, and there are 3 options, F1 to continue to start windows, F2 to do something and F5 to run on board diagnostics or something like that, the entire message is alot longer but that is all i can recall from that page.
However, the battery charges normally, and in windows, the battery icon shows as PLUGGED IN with AC Adapter when i have it plugged in and when i unplug it, it shows battery, which is normal.
My question is should i call up Dell or should i just ignore the problem? Or is there anyone know what is the problem and can help me.

I have a M1530, with the Dell 1505 Wireless N card installed.
To say the least, it is probably the worst card I have ever seen, getting no more than 6Mb/s on internal transfers (basically wireless G speeds) even though connecting at 130Mb/s.
I have a Dlink Extreme N DIR-655 router and it is pretty good, so I know it isn't that.
Looking at PCMIA cards on the internet, I suddenly realized that there is no expansion port on this system (or I am just stupid and can't see it), so I have to go with an internal card.
Is there anything I should be looking for when getting the new card? Are they easy to install?

i have an xps m1530 and my ac adapter died out recently. i looked at the ac adapters listed for my laptop at dell.com and they only had two options available, which i did not like.
so i looked at other ac adapters from the website and the ones i like say "product description for dell inspiron, stuido, and latitude laptops" or something similar in that line.
i didnt see any for xps, just for inspirons, studio, studio xps, and others. im looking to buy a 90W 3 prong ac adapter and would any 90W 3 prong ac adapter from dell.com work with my xps m1530?..

I have this "problem" (is not actually a problem but I would like to know what the problem is) I have a usb wireless adapter since my laptop didn't come with a wireless card built in.
Its working fine but there is something that bothers me, I have 3 usb ports and one of them doesn't recognize my usb wireless adapter!
I don't have problems with the other two, I just plug it in and the system connects to the internet. Its just one usb port that does not recognize it.

I really would like to get two of these, since they are less than 1/3 of the price of the adapters I can get in Norway, but I'm a bit suspicious.
The original adapter for my Precision M6500 is 210 watts (which is totally crazy, but I guess the Fire GL card eats most of it), and this is rated at 90w. But will it even work? Here's the eBay auction, it's in Great Britain:
