Dell :: 9300 With All My Files, But No Working Screen
Jan 5, 2009
I haven't visited in a long time, not since getting my 9300 a few years back. Since then, the screen has crapped out and is blank. I get nothing.
I have acquired an ibook G4 and an external monitor recently. I need help with these options to be able to either connect the external monitor or be able to transfer files:
1. Connect the external monitor to the dell 9300 with the vga connector. i tried that. i am using an external keyboard for the dell since the dell's keyboard crapped out too.
the external has no 'fn' key, but i read i can use 'scroll lock + f8' to switch to the external monitor. doesn't work. any suggestions on how to switch monitors without being able to see the dell's screen?
2. Firewire. If I cannot get the monitor to work, then I want to try this. I am new to firewire, but i read it is possible to transfer files from the pc to the mac. Is it possible to transfer files though if one screen is blank? Could I see the dell's output on the mac screen somehow .....
My computer was working fine last night, shut the lid and went to bed. Woke up hit the power button and I have blue screen. Restarted and now have blank black screen. I have a XP cd I try to put it in and nothing happens. I want to boot by cd but it wont. Cant figure out how to get into setting to change order for bios. I hit F8 and that works and tried all the options and no go, still blank black. I would wipe it out and start over If I could. Nothing new was installed. It was fine last night and today it woke up nasty!?
I moved my WUXGA 9300 screen to my new M90. It works okay and looks gorgeous, but it's 'off' position is solid white. Meaning when the screen turns 'off' it goes to solid white.
Anyone know why this is happening or what I could do?
I'm running the A08 Dell BIOS and I have a Quadro FX 1500m.
in the past few months i noticed some minor screen snowing that went away with time or repower of the system. while using pc tonight the screen all the sudden crapped out. don't know if i should replace the part or just sell it as is for scrap
the bar also changes color and is there regardless (bio, safe mode, normal ...)
i haven't hook it up to an external monitor because it's kind a hassle this late but will try tomorrow
bios still a04 since the battery died 4 year ago and i'm too cheap to buy one since it's plugged in 24/7
I'm trying to repair a 9300 with a radeon x300 video card in it - after the LCD panel died.
I've tried two panels to replace it, a WUXGA and a WXGA both from a 9400 - both panels are tested, and known to be absolutely working, as are the inverters.
In the 9300, the LCDs work, but the backlight doesn't come on, so they are effectively useless. I've tried them with all combinations of inverters, the ones specifically for those screens, then swapped around, and then changed for the original 9300 WUXGA inverter - nothing makes any difference, even though all parts are tested and working in a 9400.
The machine works fine with an external monitor, and in-a-sense works fine with the LCD panels - the output is working fine both ways, just not the backlight. I've just never heard of a backlight problem on the card, only ever the inverter or backlight. The fact that the card was working fine before the old panel died also makes me doubt a problem there (and the old panel was an LCD problem, not a backlight problem).
Unfortunately, an LCD panel with no backlight at all is unusable, as it's almost impossible to see anything at all - much worse than a dim backlight. You have to hold it at the right angle, in the right lighting conditions, and squint
I've just tried flashing to the latest A05 system bios, and the latest ATI video bios from Dell, and that hasn't helped. Is there some good reason that 9400 panels aren't compatible with a 9300, or have I got a video card with dead backlight output?
The video card is the only thing I can think of, but it was working fine before the old panel died, and I've never heard of symptoms like this.
I don't have a working panel from a 9300 to test with, and can't afford to risk buying another panel, also replacement cards for the 9300 are like hens teeth.
I have a 9300. Is it possible to hook it up to a desktop and use my keyboard and screen to operate it instead of a separate keyboard and external monitor?
My Thinkpad T430, less than a year old, is having issues - corrupted .dll files, Windows Update not working, all sorts of fun stuff. I've exhausted pretty much every other option I can find to try to repair this at this point. The nuclear option is a reset to Lenovo factory settings from the Windows repair environment accessed by pressing F8 during boot, but before I do that I want to understand *exactly* what I would be doing to my computer.
Specifically: will a factory reset return all Windows system files to their original state, meaning there is no chance that the issues I'm having will persist? Will it guarantee that Windows Update will work again and that all of my .dll and other system files will be in a fresh, non-corrupted state? Does the process replace current system files with original versions that were installed on the computer?
I just don't want to restore to factory settings and find that Windows Update still won't work and now I have to install over a year's worth of updates manually from the Microsoft website, one by one, or go through the trouble of having to reinstall all of my programs, get my files back on the computer, fix settings to be as I want them again, etc. only to not have these issues fixed.
I have Inspiron 9300. Unfortunately, my geforce 6800 died and I bought as a replacement x300 which was installed by a laptop repair service (they fixed other thins too.
It was due to power surge). Everything works but when I boot up the computer or when the display is set to be turned off in the power settings in Windows instead of being actually turned off the display is on and is all white.
Also brightness regulation does not work via Fn +arrows keys and is set to maximum and the white color is so intense that I get a headache after a couple of hours staring at the screen.
My Laptop Dell Inspiron 15R , delete key not working. When I click on any file , The message comes for its deletion "Do you want to delete the item and move to recycle bi?". Continuously messages are coming for deletion. In text while typing, the text goes automatically deleted.
Acer aspire 5745G, everything was working fine until i tired to update newer bios files, but my laptop restarted and now when i try to turn the laptop on, nothing happens and nothing appears at all, only the power button is flashing, so i googled it a little bit and i found out that i need to download a BIOS files and unzip them to my formated USB, i did that but nothing happens when i try to hold FN button + Esc ......
My compaq presario CQ71 notebook fires up, tells me it's loading window files then just hangs on a blue screen forever. I've tried every possible route via all F-key functions without any success, including factory re-set but still nothing.
I've buyed a new XPS12 convertible ultrabook, when I've received the PC, the LCD not working, then has been replaced the LCD, but after that the LCD working in proper manner, but the Touch screen not running (date 17 of jan 2013) since this time the Technical support can not be able to solve this problem, first istance said there was some firmware version problem, they replace another time the LCD, but not solve the problem.
Today 34 day after receiving the payed ultrabook no answer has been provided, the only solution is to receive a new XPS12 but DELL need anoter 50 day to try to send me another PC.
I have a stock dell 9300 and it won't boot into the desktop? It turns to a black screen and nothing happens? I can go into safe mode but can't use system restore from there?
I have a Dell I9300, its starting to feel its age. I was playing COD4 today, and even though it played it pretty well I feel the video card is dying.
I was thinking about maybe pin-modding a CPU and buying maybe the 7800 GTX.
Is it worth it, and how hard of a swap would it be? I remember when I used to frequent the forums there were a few threads stickied about pin-modding, but I cant find it.
I'm not sure if mt drivers are old, but my touch screen works sometimes then completely stops working and when I try to calibrate it, it tells me that there's no N-Trig duosense hardware on my computer. It says I DO have the hardware when it's in a 'working stage' though. Every time I try to download a driver, it says 'fatal error.'
I had purchased a new 15Z inspiron today.Unfortunately touch screen is not working for me.I had tried Fn+F3 to enable the touch screen but nothing is happening.
BEEN a While and A long time... I currently order a Pentium M 735 1.7 Ghz 400FSB to overclock up to 2.26Ghz@533Mhz. Still waiting on shipping. Anyways, I am looking forward about upgrade my GPU Go 6800 OCed 370Mhz/700Mhz to Go 7800 (NON-GTX).
Yeah, GTX one is pricey for me.
I am wondering does the Non GTX version of Go 7800 still need 130Watts Adapter?
I did a lot of search all I could find is people talks about 7800GTX version.
In my thought I think 6800 to 7800 different is more pipelines and pixel fill rates and etc and the power needed is the same. Right?
So do I need 130 watts or I just keep 90 watts adapter which is perfect for NON-GTX Go 7800
My Beast's 80 gig 5400 rpm HDD is on its last legs, and I was wondering what Hard Drives are available for me to replace my old one. I will definitely be looking to upgrade.
What exactly do I need to connect my Dell i9300 laptop to a regular tv? (not HD) I searched a bit but couldn't seem to narrow it down. I know I need a cable, but am not sure of the part number, and software if any. I want to be able to display what's on the screen onto a TV.
I currently have the X300 in my laptop (inspiron 9300). I'm buying a second laptop for my sis and it's a dell 6400 and it happens to have the X1400 in it.
I was wondering if we can swap video cards...
Thoughts? I'm open to any modifications this would take to get it working.
Are the Dell 9300 HD's SATA or ATA-6? I'd like to upgrade my 9300 with a larger hard drive, somewhere around 100GB or so. Any recommendations? Do I just need to look for a laptop SATA drive 7200RPM or are there other specs I need to consider?
I currently have the X300 in my laptop (inspiron 9300). I'm buying a second laptop for my sis and it's a dell 6400 and it happens to have the X1400 in it.
I was wondering if we can swap video cards... so that she gets the X300 and I get the X1400.
My XPS 12 Duo touch screen stopped working one day.
My Device Manager shows that the I2C HID Device is not working (With a status of: This device cannot start. (Code 10) STATUS_DEVICE_POWER_FAILURE
I'm not sure why as nothing changed... that I know of.
I have uninstalled and reinstalled the drivers, I have made sure all drivers are up dated (as on dell.com), and eventually I even formatted the HDD thinking some update must have caused this.
Unfortunately I have had no luck.
Just to add, Dell replaced my screen (due to ghost images) about a month ago - I'm thinking this could be the cause.
I ordered Dell Inspiron 15 3521 (with Intel Celeron 1007U) online when the website said this has optical touchscreen capabilities. But when I got it (2 days ago), the touchscreen is not working and I don't think it was installed on the laptop. Will Dell exchange the laptop for the tochscreen free of charge?
I just got a brand new Inspiron 15 (3537, mid-2013) about a month ago. Problem is, the touch screen has not been working ever since I got it. Are there different variations of the Inspiron 3537 or is mine just malfunctioning?
I have a XPS 15 L502x.... and sometime in the past week, my touch screen has stopped responding completely. I've tried everything i can think of... all the settings i can find relating to touch input appear to be correct, etc, but no luck. I'm usually decently ok at fixing the problems my computer has on my own through a little internet research, but either no one's had this problem and posted about it or its buried many pages down in google.
I dont have time to go through the phone tech support hassle for another few days and i miss being able to use the touch screen function. Not that it was ever super-functional to begin with, but it was nice for scrolling and such ....
30 minutes ago, it was working perfectly with no issue. I turned it off and after 1 hour I tried to turned on by pressing the power button but it is not working. No lambs no sounds nothing. It is just like a rock.
