I am looking into installing Vista Ultimate x64 and was wondering if there is anyone here that has upgraded to vista 64 bit and what they did as far as drivers go. Mainly I am just trying to get all of the drivers ill need found before doing anything.
I just got a studio 1737 and want to do a clean Vista 64 Home premium install. I was going to follow Les's guide in the main dell forum but it seems media direct 4.0 will not allow me to boot from the cd.
So I want to boot from Vista and reformat and install the OS.
I've tried using the ones from the Dell web site but I cannot get them to work, just incase i'm being a dill can someone link me to the correct AHCI drivers please?
IDE to AHCI Here is what I have as IDE ATA/ATAPI Controller Intel ICH8M 3 port Serial ATA Storage Controller – 2828 Intel ICH8M Ultra ATA Storage Controllers – 2850 Primary IDE Channel Primary IDE Channel Secondary IDE Channel Secondary IDE Channel My laptop is a 5620z or 5620-4025 with a Hitachi HTS542512K9SA00 ATA Device. When I looked up this HD, it appears to be the standard SATA HD, or is it?
The original setup under VISTA, had ATA Channel 0 (twice) and ATA Channel 1 (twice) instead of the above Primary and Secondary IDE Channels.
The files to be used are in the requested C:Drive, yet I am reluctant to pull the trigger because I am not sure that I should nor am I sure which one of the above is the driver that is to be changed if when I make the change.
NO SOUND One other thing has be going in circles regarding sound with the Realtek software. The Manager in the 3D Audio Demo works fine………….but……..the MultiMedia, which is most important, indicates that there is NO Audio Device.
But my Real issue is the AHCI Drivers for XP x64. I am trying to slipstream the AHCI Drivers into my x64 disk using nLite and I amhaving a Hard time finding the Drivers.
I found these: downloadcenter.intel.com/Detail_Desc.aspx?agr=Y&ProductID=1809&DwnldID=14794&strOSs=109&OSFullName=Windows*%20XP%20Professional%20x64%20Edition&lang=eng
but they are .exe and I have no way to load them.....................
I have installed windows xp professional. I want to change my bios setting for Sata mode to "IDE" to "AHCI" for that I have to install AHCI Drivers into win xp but I am not able to install AHCI drivers in win xp.
Whenever I am trying to install AHCI drivers, system gives me error
i am getting the above screen when i boot up into windows and no mater which option i choose it does not work. I just put this drive in though it was not there when i was instaling the OS. Also the bios deteects the drive as a BLU RAY drive but i cant find these drivers any where on dell website or any where else. I can open and close the drive just fine and if i put a cd or dvd in it spins fine as well.
I've had the dell 350 bluetooth module working fine for the last year and a half of Vista, but this latest SP has broken it. I tried reinstalling the old drivers to no avail.
Anybody have the chipset drivers for vista 32 bit? I am running it without the chipset drivers for the mobile cpu, maybe installing them if I find them will speed it up?
Greetings - a friend of mine has an Inspiron 6000 and he has found a cheap copy of Vista HP.
I told him I would try to load it for him (on a new HDD) if I could find the drivers.
I've found most of the drivers except for the all-important chipset. Does anyone know of a source/have a link for the Vista chipset driver for the Inspiron 6000?
I have a lot of stability issues with Factory Vista x64 installation, I will try to install from scratch Windows XP x64 and Windows Vista x64, I am not very familiar with Dell Notebooks (ex Lenovo guy), please could you tell me where I can find the correct installation sequence for all the drivers and tools?, I did some tests already, but I was not able to successfully install Dell Control Point, I got and error in the middle of the installation, I think I am doing something wrong, also I have installed the driver for UWB, but I do not find the tool to setup the Wireless USB hub?
I have a Dell Latitude D830 and i am looking for Bluetooth vista drivers.  On Dell site i can not find this drivers.  Normally if i enable my wifi i see a blue led on the front of my laptop.  In device manager i can see that the bluetooth is installed, but i can not use it.
I recently installed 64bit vista on my vaio vgn-nr21m/s because I upgraded to 4gb ram. Since then I have not been able to find a compatible driver for my SD card reader.
I've just bought a new NW series laptop! =) But it's got Vista.. I want to install XP on it but the vaio site only seems to have Vista drivers, will they work on XP?
i have installed windows xp in my 5920g and now i want to install vista on 2nd partition but i don't know which of all those drivers to download. If someone knows please post the drivers i have to download. And one more question what's the use of mobility center, launch manager and gridvista programs.
I am looking for the very latest drivers and utilities for my FW notebook. I have 32-bit Vista but the latest 32-bit drivers from Sony are for FW3. FW4 drivers are newer but they are for 64-bit Vista. Which of the 64-bit drivers that are 100% compatible with 32-bit Vista?
I'm trying to downgrade my wife's VGN-TZ90S from its default Vista to XP. I made a separate partition and installed XP then fixed the bootloader so it would load dual boot properly. The problem I'm having is I cant get a lot of the drivers working. For instance the graphics seemed to be straight forward, but none of the seemingly suitable intel gfx drivers work and when it tries to detect the integrated gfx via their website it says it doesn't recognise it.
I just bought an aspire 4730 from staples yesterday. It comes with Vista Home Premium 32bit, but I'd like to install vista 64bit on it. The CPU supports it. It has a T3400
I went to acer support here [url] and looked up drivers for the 4730Z/4730ZG but the drivers that are shown are for the aspire 4330.
And the only 64 bit drivers shown are for bluetooth (which the 4730 doesnt have), Intel graphics, and nvidia graphics (which it doesnt have).
Where can i get wifi, motherboard, touchpad drivers for this model if i decide to run vista 64 on it?
should i call acer support and ask them if vista 64 is supported?
I just installed Vista Ultimate on the hard drive partition of my Sony Vaio Notebook (VGN-CR4000). The other partition has Vista Home and is working fine as it came with the original laptop.
I am not able to see any wireless networks to connect to the internet on the Vista Ultimate OS. This is because I do not have the drivers.. right?
I tried to find drivers on the Sony website, but there are none for my model. What can I do?
finding drivers (Vista 64 bit) for my Sony VAIO VGN-SZ483N. I have the original Vista x86 drivers, but as expected most of them does not like to be installed on a Vista x64 O/S.
Is there a site that someone could recommend please, or has someone with an SZ4xx attempted this "upgrade" and is willing to share his/her experiences.
I have tested my gaming machine with x64 against x86 (both Vista) and could say with reasonable confidence that the x64 installation outperforms the x86 installation without a doubt. It would really be good to change the O/S to x64 from the OEM x86.
I' got a new VGN-FW375J laptop, it was cheap, but I would like to downgrade Vista Home to XP, and need drivers.
I have an original XP Disk but that does not installing. because first I need to download somewhere a driver to Blue-Ray disk driver, to unpack my XP disk and to incorporate there that driver and burn a new boot disk.
But the first a have to be sure that there are all driver for this laptop or it will be a waist of time.
I was looking for a DV5T-1000 thread as I just ordered this laptop and want to install a fresh copy of either Vista 64-bit or Vista-32 bit, I don't care although the laptop came with 4 Gig and I know to see all 4, I need 64.
Either way, I found an older thread for XP drivers and I also know it depends on what hardware you system has, so unless someone can point me to a thread, I'm looking for the LATEST drivers and to make sure I am not missing any.
I will probably have a guy from work help me since I'm not the techiest but I'll need to tell him what to do :P (we're good at that, right? :P)
Here is what mine is coming with and I tried to assemble my best guess at drivers. The HP site helps a bit but many drivers seem older and I'm not sure I need all of them of course.
I own a vgn-SR190. I recently had HD failure, so had to buy new HD and reinstall vista. My original version of Vista was Business 32-bit. I didn't make a recovery disc. So I went out and bought vista ultimate 32-bit. Figured I wouldn't have problems, but I did.
I'm having the driver issues that someone in another thread talked about, when you get the problem with vaio mode switch and the battery issue. I downloaded the drivers for Vista Business, figured it would be the same for Ultimate. But I just read someone's post here that the home premium 32-bit drivers are the same as the ultimate 32-bit drivers. Is that true? if it is, I would just have to download the home premium drivers. I just wanted to know if anybody knows for a fact that the home premium drivers are the same as the ultimate drivers, seeing as the business drivers are obviously different.
