Asked this question in the other thread but I thought I make a new one here.
I formated and reinstalled my e6500.
Now I saw before the reinstallation that I had a dell program that connected to their website (database) and checked if all my drivers where up to date.
Now after reinstallation I dont find this neat application any of you who know whats it called?
New 2nd generation vostro 3550 laptop fingerprint reader driver software is available in dell online but there is no application software for fingerprint reader without any application how will I use it?
There's a little quirky behavior that's bugged me a little bit ever since I started using Snow Leopard last summer.
Whenever I minimize or close an application using either the yellow/red buttons on the application or simply hitting CMD+M / CMD+W, the menubar for that application persists, necessitating a click on whatever application behind it before that app is actually "active".
For instance, if I were to hit CMD+W on Firefox right now, iTunes would be staring me in the face, but the menubar would still be for Firefox -- and I'd have to click on iTunes before being able to play something.
Is there any config setting or some way to make the menubar minimize/close with the application I'm minimizing or closing?
I am getting this from the outlet so I am a little more concerned about the possible issues. I am looking for guidance to look for typical issues people have seen so I can check them out as soon I get it.
Also looking for CPU and heat test software I can use to make sure it does not have heat issues. Right now I have the Hmonitor and the Intel burnin test. Any advice on this front is appreciated.
My specs are Studio 15 - 1558 Laptop Certified Refurbished 64BIT Operating System CD .....
I got my AS5 today and the ArctiClean 1+2 stuff should be here in a few days. So I decided to check where I should be putting this stuff.
Am I supposed to remove the whole of the black square? It felt like a sticker which started to peel off. Or is it just the silver stuff which will be removed and then replaced with the AS5?
Looked like there was a bit of black stuff on the CPU as well? Also, should I place the AS5 only where the silver stuff is on the picture or shall I go wider/longer than that?
And finally, what is this blue sticky thing which goes onto a chip in the top right of the pic? Do I remove that and what is the chip for?
I tried to install the Dell System Detect application but I couldn't because of this error;Unable to install or run this application. This application requires Version 4.0 Full or other compatible .NET Framework..Where do I get this framework version?
Just bought this laptop. Upon booting up got a Rapid Start error Message. Uninstalled the Rapid Start Driver and downloaded the latest Rapid Start Intel driver from Dell Downloads. Upon trying to install it, I get the following message:
"This computer does not meet the minimum requirments for installing this software"
Intel Rapid Storage is working. I checked the BIOS and Intel Rapid Response is enabled.
I don't own a Mac, but I've used them. One of the things that has always bothered me about them is the way applications launch. Specifically, they always seem to launch in their own un-maximized window. The yellow button doesn't always fully maximize the application and one has to drag the window into full screen and even then the front row thingy blocks the window from fully maximizing.
Is there a simple way to fully maximize an application on a Mac? Is there a setting that will make it so that all apps automatically launch maximized?
i have the aluminium body mac book and i use bootcamp ( with windows 7) Is there any application to take pictures using the built in webcam (something like photobooth for mac)
MS Word application crashed a couple of minutes ago, not too bad as I only edited my thesis marginally, but I used a picture for the first page that I cannot find on the internet again.
What is the method to automatically launch an application when the user logs in. Does it involve putting an alias of the app in some specific "startup" folder, like in Windows?
I am trying to install an older scanner driver on my new MBP, which I was only partially able to do. The "button manager" app, would not install automatically using the installer app. Hence, in order for the buttons on the scanner to work, I have to first manually launch the Button Manager. On my older MB, it would launch at login, so it was resident at all times. I none such difficulty installing the same driver package on the old MB.
I find it odd that my new MB has so many quirks that my 1 year old MB unibody does not. They are running exactly the same OS version. Hmm And Migration Assitant left a boatload of stuff (such as this), unmoved.
Yesterday I plugged in an HDMI cable to output to a Toshiba tv. After unplugging the cable I no longer have sound on my HP Envy 17 Notebook (this notebook has Beats Audio). The product # is EOK85UA#ABA.
I have Dell Inspiron 5447 i3 with AMD Radeon R7 M265 with Windows 8.1 and have recently updated all needed windows updates.
I know how to add applications in the switchable settings as high-performace with *.exe extension but when I installed applications from the apps store (i.e. Asphalt 8 - Airborne, etc.) I cannot seem to add them to the switchable graphis settings to get the AMD GPU used. I know that the AMD GPU not getting used because I used a monitoring tool (openhardwaremonitor) that says it was not used. I can add applications like some other games I installed but not from the windows apps store so now I am really confused.Â
How can I get the AMD graphics to work with some apps in the apps store (specifically in my case, Asphalt)
Recently done a clean install of W7 so lost most of my acer applications (god is it hard to find them) and was having trouble finding the Crystal eye programme. Does anyone have any knowledge of where i could find a version that works with my model (6930g, W7 home prem 32) and will record video, the version i installed when i got w7 only let me take pictures?
I was on mesenger for mac earlier when it froze with the spinning beach ball mouse and i had to force quite the application, is this a sign of hardware failior some how, or is it just a poorly coded program? i have never had an application freeze befor in the past 8 years of having macs
Product name: HP ENVY m6 Notebook PC Product number: D1E93UA#ABA Â I have uninstalled/re-installed the driver, rebooted, and still no sound. if anyone can recommend a firewall application that controls both the incoming and the outgoing traffic. The built in firewall protects from incoming request, but I'd like to control the outgoing connections as well. I did a search and found 1 thread, but it's more than a year old.
Little Snitch and WaterRoof (and its simpler version NoobProof) seem to fit the bill. Any recommendation besides these?
Every time I open one of the Lenovo apps like like Support or Companion, I get the message "Enhanced functions for this application are available". Â I click the message, a browser opens up, I download "dependecypackage.exe", I install, setup asks for a restart and I let it, and the process repeats again and again. 1. Advise a downloader(on Vista pc i use Flashget and enjoy it), Speed Download is shareware+interface is not too friendly. some pals recomended: iGetter, Leech, Download Queue, Download Wizard, and Download Manager, but which one to choose, which is better ?
2. Which application delete program would you suggest: à) AppZapper b) CleanApp c) AppDelete
3. need a prog. for .RAR files ( not Stuffit, cos it has unfriendly interface for me, imho), which is better: Unrar X, Simply Rar UnArchiver
My T530 (a month old) is driving me crazy with this issue: Depending on which application is in the foreground, it will dim/undim the built-in screen (1600x900 version). I have turned off adaptive screen brightness in the power options, and I've turned off Film Mode Detection and Adaptive Contrast Enhancement in the Intel Graphics and Media Control Panel, but this "feature" won't go away. Â How in the world can I get the screen to be on 100% brightness, unless I manually change it?
Especially the 16" model seems to have some excellent features with the new Core i7, and thankfully everything seems Linux compliant. I just have a few questions before I pull the trigger, as I don't have as much background on Dell products as I do some other manufacturers.
First of all, is there anything new on the horizon? Are there any highly rumored updates with new hardware, new models etc? I hate to buy right at the end of a cycle, but as Dell seems to update faster than Apple and whatnot, I don't want to miss anything.
Any ideas what is going to be in the refresh for the current two S-XPS models? For instance, new graphics cards, Core i7 or i5 in the 13" as well? Perhaps multitouch trackpads (unless they already have them? I've conflicting reports regarding multitouch and to what "degree")? I'd like to see a few little updates, especially on the 13".
I see that Linux is available (ubuntu) installed on a certain version of the XPS 13 and 16. Unfortunately, these seem to be the lower end models (No Core i7). Would there be any way to configure a maxed out configuration and have them put Linux on it? Perhaps over the phone? If I over over the phone, will that negate the special deal pricing from the link here at the forums .....
I don't personally use it but I noticed a new driver for the facial recognition software dated 2/4/2010 and it lists Win7 in the changes.
So for those who used to use this and upgraded to Win7 to have it not work should be happy. Also noticed a bunch of hard drive updates I never noticed before .....
These are two important updates for Vista, that MS apparently didn't find important enough to put in the Windows Update section Check em out guys... the patches fix some of the worst issues.

I first installed the blutooth, everything was running fine. Then went ahead with installing the gpu driver and then physx driver. Finally I go ahead with the A12 bios update (was running on A09 before this).
I restart the computer, and everything loads up just fine. I noticed the fan kicking in though but no biggie..
I can open up firefox window no problem. It's only when I access my documents (D) or My Computer or C: the computer freezes (not responding msg). The fan kicks in at this moment and waiting 10 more minutes doesn't solve anything so I have to force shut down the laptop. Is it the bios update which is doing this or Nvidia drivers?
While I'm still a fan of Dell, who ever is in charge of releasing updates needs to be fired at Dell, these updates are worthless
The Video update driver for the intel 4500 video is crap still Areo problem the A08 bios update fixes the video it seems but cause about 5 other problems
