View 3 RepliesIt seems that since I updated to Vista and to Window 7 subsequently I can't get the audio to work out of my dock. It works fine out of the side of my laptop.
Any ideas on this? I wouldn't think it is a driver issue as sound does work.
I just updated the BIOS to F.23 from HP's website and now RMClock and HW Monitor do not report accurate temps. It shows the temp of my cpu's sits at 26 C all the time. I have a dv7t with the P8400 and nvidia 9600GT.
View 6 Replies View RelatedI have an e4300 with 4 gigs of ram and Win7. I recently downloaded the latest Windows Update as prompted by the OS, and now I'm having an issue where everytime I start the computer it asks me to set the page file size. It's always listed as 0 megs.
So, I got to reset it using the box marked managed by the system, and when I restart the same thing happens.
So instead I chose a custom size 1.5xRam for lower limit, 3x ram for higher limit, and still eveytime I restart it gives me an automatic pop-up telling me my page file is set to zero.
Well I've finally figured out why my computer freezes for 30 seconds at a time. I looked at the Event Viewer and this is what I've discovered...
Source: iaStor
Event ID: 9
Level: Error
The device, DeviceIdeiaStor0, did not respond within the timeout period.
Does anyone else have this problem with their Studio 1745? Is this common with all of these running the Intel Gm45 chipset? I really need to find a fix or I'm gonna have to sell this and try another brand.
I've got a random clicking sound coming from my HDD (XPS m1330, 200 GB 7200 RPM drive) - so far only when running a certain torrent. Turning the torrent off stops the clicking, etc.
I called Dell who told me to run HDD diagnostics which found no errors whatsoever. Also, my system isn't freezing/slow at all. I reflashed the bios with the most updated one (A15) at the tech's suggestion but it made no difference... I prefer A09 since the fan runs less so unless anyone can confirm the bios might make a difference I'll revert it...
I've had my 1500 since fall of '07 and it worked fine until winter of last year. Ever since then I get jagged pink lines and distortion effects like shown in the picture below. Occasionally I'll be able to boot up without any glitches, but that's rare and even then the lines reappear within minutes of use.
The lines/distortion appear on the task bar, videos, pictures, and other places.
My GPU is a GeForce 8400M GS
This morning when I started my computer, I got a Windows error message giving me two options: to launch Startup Repair to try to repair any errors or to start up normally. I chose error repair and it says it is repairing disk errors and might take an hour to complete. The first time, it said it had fixed errors and I needed to hit "Finish" to restart, which I did, but I ended up with a black screen.
The next time, I chose to start normally, and ended up with a black screen again.
The third time, I did the disk repair again, and go the message that Windows cannot repair my computer automatically, and to hit "finish" to exit and shut down.
I''m still ending up with the black screen. I tried some trouble shooting tips posted in others' forums, but none of the following have worked:
-Draining residual battery power
-Running on-board diagnostics (all areas Passed)
-Rebooting in Safe Mode (I ended up with the black screen again)
2 updates keep failing:
Microsoft.NET Framework Sevice pack1
Internet Explorer 8 for windows vista.
And now I get a message saying that it can't contact windows update, so i do it manually, the install starts then seems to stick and the only way I can get out of the install screen is to shut down
my laptop inspiron1545 is slow it cant download some updates that are needed the errors are code80246007 and code 800B0100

What happen with the Dell web site??
I have an INSPIRON E1505 with Windows XP. The McAfee protection was not working properly, so I contacted customer service. They checked my computer and said that I should contact the computer manufacturer because I have errors on CHKDSK. I've done some research on this website, but have not been able to find a solution yet.
I ran the full Dell PC diagnostics, and everything passed except my battery.
I used this page [URL].... to guide me through chkdsk, running it from "my computer" and choosing "scan for and attempt recovery of bad sectors." Phase 2 appeared to be nearly down when I received the prompt, "Windows was unable to complete the disk check."
I'm not sure if this matters, but the computer was not used for 2 years from 2009-2011, as I was out of the country. After I got it running again and ran updates, it seemed to be working just fine until I recently discovered this issue with McAfee.
I have 7 Latitude E6320, all with identic Confgiuration and same Problem. Sometimes the Laptop freezes. When this happens I can still click one to three times somewhere, move the windows and mouse, then no Application reacts anymore. I can still move the mouse. It's not possible to start Taskmanager or kill Processe via Process-Viewer. If Process Viewer runs before the Laptop hangs it shows high load at "Hardware-Interrupts" ~30%. If this happens the HD-LED is on without any blinking. The only way to get out of this is to turn the Laptop off.
There are no Errors or Warnings in System-Log (only at restart).
All Updates from DELL (Drivers, Bios) and Microsoft are installed (including SP1 for WIN7). Diagnostic boot runs without Error. the sfc command runs also without any Problems.
What can I do ?.. I want to avoid to reinstall Windows 7 & Software (32Bit) on 7 Laptops...
Is there any known Problem with this Laptop ?( In the last days a few new BIOS has been released .)
I have problem with my Acer Aspire 7520G. When I turn it on, after memory check and disk check I got messages:

after this wont boot neither from HDD nor CD/DVD. Just blink currsor apears.
After a few of restarts, if I got luck, it will boot up "normally". I checked in Windows system that Bus 01 Device 04 is acctualy

Figured the G60T was sufficient, cheaped out on everything, 3GB memory. Loaded everything up and started receiving blue screen in Vista. Reloaded from factory image and still seems to be flaky. I ran memtest 86+ (failed in test 5 and 8) and windows diagnostic tools failed ERAND test. I think the memory is okay as they test fine separately so either timing off or bus or something else is messed. One week of frustration with HP support. Bottom line HP answer is if the BIOS memory test runs okay, then everything is okay. What a hassle. Anyone know if there is some quirk that would have the tests fail but everything be okay? I guess we'll return but printer and other rebates were bundled in along with cash back.
View 3 Replies View RelatedI seem to have trouble Compiling Wine on OS X.
The compilation seems to finish successfully (as far as i can tell), however i cant even run winecfg, i get lots of errors!
I've tried with version 1.20 to 1.22, one of which even said that they support Snow Leopard in the release notes, so i figure it should work for Leopard aswell?
I dont know what to do because i've never had a compilation finish successfully only to have the app fail so horribly. Had it been on linux i'm sure it would've just worked (compiled wine serveral times on linux with no problems).
Oh, i've also tried darwine, but the later versions of that doesnt work either (unless you already have the ~/.wine folder i think)
Am i missing something? Do i need to do something special before i try wine on OS X? Has anyone else tried compiling Wine? how i can get wine to run?
i got a used mac ibook g4 and it starts to load mac os X and shows blue indicator line.. it gets to the end but stays there forever. any ideas.. i got the os X install disc.. i tried that but it errors..
View 3 Replies View RelatedRecently I began having problems upon starting up my HP Pavilion g6 series laptop. I would get a disc error that would require me to restart with "control, alt, delete." It has now gone to giving me Hard Disk errors 303 and 305. I've been looking around on these forums and it appears that I'm looking at a harddrive getting ready to fail.
I'm running Windows 7 Home Premium with an Intel i7-2620M CPU @ 2.70GHz with 6GB of RAM and it's a 64 bit operating system.
Am I correct in assuming that the hard drive is getting ready to fail? If so, how do I replace it and what do I replace it with?
I just installed new HHD; trying to reinstall Windows Vista Home Premium 64BIT SP1 from Reinstallation DVD of the Dell Studio 1537; I get twoerrors:
1-This computer’s hardware may not support booting to this disk. Ensure that the disk’s controlleris enabled in the computer’s BIOS menu. How can I tell the disk is enabled?
2 - Windows is unable to find a system volume that meets its criteria for installation. What? My HDDisk size is 298.1GB free space?
My Acer Aspire 5101 wasn't running very fast so after the usual anti-spyware and anti-virus programs I tried the Windows Memory Diagnostic program booting from cd.
My laptop came with two sticks of 512MB DDR2 RAM. I got fails on wmats+ so I tried each stick seperately in both slots. I got the same errors for each stick in either slot.
I don't know what to do now. My laptop is out of warranty so if I want to speak to Acer technical support there's a 50p/min helpline. I thought I'd ask for advice on this forum first to see if anyone had any other advice before I end up spending a fortune on the phone.
i have a problem with my TM8006, it first died, and after i reinstalled everything several times i keep getting blue screen errors, don't know why, it might be the harddrive, but i'm not sure. If it is the harddrive can i change it by my self?
View 7 Replies View RelatedI made a clean install of Windows 7 on my Sony VPCEB1S1E/BJ last night, mainly because the language this laptop came in was wrong and I couldn't understand anything (Home Premium, so couldn't change it either). After the install I noticed the laptop became very slow, so I reverted it using recovery discs which were supposed to reset the laptop back to factory defaults. Ok, the language went back to the original and everything was as before. But... now the laptop is very slow, especially with boot times.
I receive a lot of errors and critical errors which show up in the event lists. Event ID is usually 100, or 102-106. A few messages aboiut how some programs delayed the boot, a few about cd-rom driver delaying the boot...

I have been trying to update all my drivers and programs in order to update my computer to Windows 8.1 64-bit. However, I have been unable to update HPSA and HPUC to the newer versions (7.3.35.20 and 2.2.6 respectively).
HPSA is giving the following problem. If I try to simple install the new version over the old version (normal update) the installer claims there has been an Error and simply stops. The system shows that the old version is still installed, but when I try to run the program I get a Error window saying the program cannot run. Obviously the installer does not set everything back properly when it stops the install.
If I try to uninstall the old version before installing the new version the uninstall stops with an error saying it cannot find the proper files for uninstall.
HPUC is giving the following problem. I try a simple install of the new version over the old version the installer starts and various windows show the installation going on, but then all installer windows disappear and no window appears showing the installation has completed (even after waiting 10 minutes). Windows Programs and Features says that the new version has been installed, but the program and its directory are nowhere to be found on the computer. HPUC has vanished.
In all cases I have set a recovery point before doing installations and reverting to this recovery point has set things back to normal. Do you have any fixes for my problem? I need to get this done before I Update Windows.
I have an Inspiron 1525 with windows 7. I use system mechanic 11.7 for PC clean up. Every time I started the computer I was getting multiple hard drive errors and had to run deep clean followed by scan check. I thought I had a faulty hard drive so I bought a new one and completely reloaded my OS.
View 3 Replies View RelatedI'm using the notebook right now, waiting for a blue screen. None so far with a single 1 gig stick. I tested both stick's by themselves no errors, as soon as I use both i get bsods left and right.
Both are Pny 667 1 gig sticks, But i was cheap and since i had a stick already, i snagged another off Ebay. I guess they weren't well matched.
I'm going to test both slots and make sure there's no errors. So i guess it's a lesson not to be to cheap and just buy in pairs.
One more thing i might try is to lower the shared video memory, i noticed that some programs are reporting to much memory allocated to video.
I just bought an apple Time Capsule and started using it last night, router and switch works great, but can I use that as an external harddrive, because I tried to transfer files from my laptop to time capsule but it always gives me errors saying that the device is disconnected and whatnot. Anyone got any words on how to use it as an external harddrive freely? By the way, I use it on my Windows 7.
View 10 Replies View Relatedmy 4 month old MBP keeps kicking out errors saying that my startup disk is almost full even though I have something like 40GB free. Windows partition works perfectly fine in boot camp. I've run Disk Utility's verify disk and permissions options with no errors and I was able to repair disk permissions just fine. The bootup hardware diagnostic tool with the OS X disk runs fine too. Onyx runs its cleanup functions fine, but I still get the error every now and again.
Obviously I have performed a backup and will likely make a trip to the Apple Store but has anyone encountered something like this? All signs point to software issues, but I'm still a little worried.
Does anyone know if there is a way to get the Dell Dock to work o a laptop made by another manufacturer?

Installed 32 bit Windows 7 to replace XP. New problem after installation, text cursor does not always step one place to the right every key press but jumps back & inserts new text within previous text typed. Reduced the frequency of errors by installing free program "Touchfreeze", but it is still a problem. Keyboard is a standard PS/2 type. Suspect a keyboard driver problem (bug). Have latest driver installed for Pavilion dv8025EA.
Driver version: 6.17601.17514

Think I need an alternative keyboard driver to clear this bug?? It seems to be an old problem with Windows 7 going back to 2010, but I cannot seem to find a clear solution .....
