Yet i have nothing - and everytime i call they say it will be escalted ( Um it has been since day one) you going to escalte the escalate? -I just want a firm ship date and confirmation on what the model will be and added hardware..
ok so I just got my new laptop for dell a few days ago and it takes a long time to come out of sleep mode is this normal? btw its a Inspiron 17 7000 Series
I have a DV7-1023 that is less than a month old. I finally got around to burning some dvd movies from files I copied to the local hard drive. The total process time to burn a movie from start to finish takes 23 minutes at 8x speed.
On my old laptop the process time from start to finish took about 15 minutes at 6x speed.
The machine has the vista 64bit version that came with laptop. I am using Nero version 7.
Is there anything I can do to speed up my burn time?
There are no other apps running, and I tried burning right after rebooting.
Just to clarify the subject, the right click that takes a long time to show up is when it's done on the desktop or when you right-click in a windows explorer folder, blank area witnothing selected (like to create a new folder or something). When you right-click, it shows the blue circular thing to sow it's tinking about it, it's loading and takes about 8 seconds to pop up after the click. Right-clicking on selected files, folders or in any other software, pops up instantly without issue.
It's a brand new Y40 laptop running windows 8.1. i7-4520U (2.00Ghz 1600MHz 4MB), AMD Radeon R9 M275 2GB, 8GB Ram, 1TB 5400 RPM,
I've updated the Radeon drivers with no improvement. It works perfectly in safe mode,
I think my attempt to update BIOS with a "BIOS update bootable CD" method has failed!
My laptop: Lenovo Thinkpad T420, i5 @ 2.5GHz, 4 GB RAM. My old BIOS infos (taken from Setup before update attempt): UEFI BIOS Version 83ET52WW (1.22) UEFI BIOS Date (Year-Month-Day) 2011-03-24 Embedded Controller Version 83HT27WW (1.11)
I intended to update my BIOS to version 1.46 using "BIOS Update Bootable CD" from this link: [URL] .....
Steps: 1) I downloaded this ISO image: [URL] .... and burned it on a DVD-RW(DVD rewritable) medium. 2) I placed the DVD in my T420 and turned it off, then turned it on, select F12 (boot menu), selected DVD to boot from, and the BIOS update utility started. 3) In BIOS update utility I pressed "1" to read the instructions, then press "2" to update BIOS. I clicked "Y" to confirm and the update operation started. First it said " Now updating... ", then afer about 2 minutes, it said "Still updating ..." and it stuck like this.
So, right now, this message stays on my screen for about 1,5 hours(!!!):
"Still updating... It may take about a few minutes. <<< CAUTION >>> Do not turn off the computer during the update. Do not remove the CD during the update."
Other details (on system setup and current behaviour): AC was continously plugged in before&during BIOS update, battery is OK, no hard disk activity at all, keyboard is(seems) unresponsive, system's temperature is pretty high, but not dangerously high...
Ever since i've wiped the machine, i've been having these two problems. When I close the lid, it used to go to sleep straight away, but now I can see the sleep light (and the power button) flash and flash, then it goes to sleep. When waking up it goes through the lenovo startup screen and resuming windows, then it asks for a password, before I used to open the lid and it would ask me for the password straight away. I know it was going to sleep because I could hear the beep straight away when I closed and opened it, but now it just takes too long.
Also, everytime I boot up into windows or resume into windows from a sleep state, I can hear the device noise, like something is being plugged in/out. But there is nothing being plugged in or out at the time. I can't get to device manager quick enough to see what it is that is causing it. But all drivers seem okay.
Also noticed, when the lid is closed, randomly the laptop turns off (hear the beep) an then turns back off again.
T420 model number: 4180-PR1 with OS: Windows 7 Pro 64 bit
It really annoys me that my new laptop, (Just a week old) when turned on takes a very long time before it starts. After the HP logo, it will show a blank page where my cursor can be moved, then it will stay a very a long time so I end up shutting it down then turning on again and again until it finally starts up. This really takes a lot of my time specially I use my laptop for work.
I have an XPS14 from the Dell outlet (UK) which means it was pre-configured. The machine has a 500gig hard disk and a 128 ssd. I was surprised to find the o/s on the large hard disk and intend to move it. Is there anything special I should take into account (dell partitions/drivers) when I do this. As I don't have windows disks I intend to clone the system disk.
Dell is shipping me another replacement system; this one will have a DVI port like my original E1705. I was told the system might take a while to process, maybe 5-8 days or so. I've been patiently waiting, but a few days back a "new" system popped up in my orders on the website. It was the exact same replacement system they sent me before (different order number) and has a "shipped" status. Checked a few hours later to be sure and the entire order is now negative quantity on parts and cost. Anyone seen this before? Should I be worried and call my contact at Dell to make sure everything is proceeding as it should?
I currently have a great XPS 1530 with a T9300. Dell was having 25% off over the weekend and I have a EPP code through my company giving me a total of 32% off. So I decided to make the move to the 1640. I was a little frustrated with my 1530 as I could not clock the RAM to 800 eventhough I had purchased it from dell AS AN UPGRADE!! haha. I was disapointed with the graphics card as well, 256mb of ram just isnt enough to get me through the day, I also ordered the 1080p screen which the 8600gt just couldnt really handle even when scrolling media loaded webpages.
I ordered my 1530 originally with the 256gb Samsung SSD. Let me tell you, lightning fast...
My question to you guys is... I ordered the RGBLED 1080p screen but while configuring my hard drive options for the 1640, I was unable to choose the 256gb SSD as an option, so im going to swap the 500gb 7200rpm drive with the SSD. Coupled with the T9900 and the 4670, 4gb ram.. Is this thing going to be a beast or just a little faster?
I love my E6400, but sometimes I think having an ultraportable would better meet my needs. I'm considering switching to an E4300 for this reason and am looking for some input. The specs of my E6400: P8400, WXGA+ LED backlit, 4GB RAM, 160GB 7200rpm HDD, Intel 5300, 4500MHD, 9 cell. What I'm most concerned about is build quality, keyboard and screen quality, power, weight, and battery life between the two systems. I really like the screen on my E6400 and I'm worried that I'll be disappointed downgrading to a WXGA. Also, would I be saving an appreciable amount of weight by moving from an E6400 with a 9 cell to an E4300 with a 6 cell, enough so that it would justify switching laptops? Basically, is there anything I might be disappointed in by going from an E6400 to an E4300?
i havent been on here in awhile, mainly because everything has been running pretty well on my lappy for a while. i've got a new issue though, and i was hoping to get some assistance.
i noticed today after my computer installed internet explorer 8, that if i open a window, then drag it on the desktop, it leaves a white trail behind it. its really weird.
i've downloaded the latest drivers from dell, and just installed them. everything seems to be set right, from the resolution, the the sli enabled. but i'm at a loss
I bought a brand new dell xps 12 about two months ago and the past month when I go to turn on my computer it takes multiple switches of the power button to turn on the computer. At first, I would flip the power switch and it would show the dell logo on the screen sound like it was powering up and then stop. I would hit the switch again and it would power up as normal. Now it's taking at least five times before it boots up normally. Is there something wrong with my hardware and is this a normal problem with the dell xps 12's?
I have a Dell XPS M1730 with 4GB Ram, 1TB in HD space. It is loaded with Windows 8.It works great except for one little thing. When I start typing I have to watch where the mouse is. If it is in the middle of the text I am typing, it will go there in the middle of me typing. This becomes very annoying.
My xps 1640 has been going strong until today for 5years +. I haven't even replaced the battery yet and it still works incredibly well, quite amazing I'd say. However, I've spent countless hours today trying to troubleshoot this issue and I can't even find a proper e-mail to contact dell with. I don't have warranty on it anymore but this is something that should be covered regardless of the limited warranty. The laptop is still in quite good state, I've never dropped it and I've maintained it properly throughout it's years. Aside from minor wear on the edges and the side lights not working anymore I have no issues with it. I was considering even upgrading the ram and ssd since it's my main workstation at the moment.
Anyways, I'll restate the problem: Computer turns on fine, no issues, if I move the screen up and down, 90% of the time there's a specific angle that it will trigger the notebook to turn off completely. It will start right up again if I press and hold the button, but otherwise it turns off instantly. This is not a sleep feature or anything, it's happening before and after I'm in Windows. I got through a day long's train ride and had no problems with this, I got into my apartment, booted it up, tried to readjust the screen and boom on the same day...
its my dads laptop, a dell vostro 1540 just over a year old i believe and its running 7, in recent times it has been taking a good 10 mins (yesterday half an hour) to automatically connect to the internet, the router is downstairs and the laptop is used upstairs and its getting a signal of about 3-4 bars.
I recently bought a Dell Inspiron 5547 about 2 weeks ago. I've noticed a problem with the touchpad. My mouse sometimes moves erratically by itself. I'm not sure if this is a windows 8.1 issue, a hardware issue or driver issue. I have noticed that closing the monitor and then opening it again usually stops the mouse the issue temporarily.
I have been using my dell inspiron for about a year and half and it worked fine. But one day i plugged my charger for charging laptop and mouse goes mad... it starts moving to and fro of its own without me touching it.i googled the problem but did not found any useful material. i installed the ALPS driver and the only thing i get is i turn of my touchpad when charging and use a usb mouse instead.
The touchpad on my Inspiron 11 3000 2 in 1 is driving me crazy. I think it's working as intended, but the fact that the area over the buttons is also part of the touchpad means that I'm constantly moving the cursor right before I click on something... It there any way to disable the touchpad area over the buttons?
I have an Acer Asprie 3680 and an Aspire 5570Z 5570-2997.
The 3680 has 1 GB of RAM split in two slots
The 5570 has 2 GB of RAM split in two slots
Am I able to just swap all the RAM from the two machines without any troubles? Are the compatible and how can I do this exactly? Is there a video tutorial?
I' ve been using a pc forever. Looking at a Macbook Pro 13" or smaller. How easy is it to transfer files from a pc to mac? I use ACT for contract tracking software and want to use it on the new MAC as well. I have word docs. I get files sent to me in word too.
I have dell inspiron 15R, 1TB HDD, i7 processor, windows 8.1. My C drive has 500GB(approx) memory out of which 200GB(approx) is free
It used to work fast but suddenly it became very slow. I tried restarting , it got shut down but was unable to start. So I ran diagnostic test which gave an error in hard disk with error code :2000-0142. The next morning I ran the diagnostic test again and it ran successfully without any error.
I formatted it from my recovery disk and it took me almost whole night as the formatting process was also very slow. My laptop still works very slow. It takes almost 15mins for start-up and my applications are also opening too slow.
i'm goin on a trip and i wanted to rip some dvd's to the hard drive so i dont have to haul a bunch of dvd's and possibly break them.
any way i used DVD fab and it took for ever and it should be a bit faster its a 16x read drive so i donno whats going on, this is plugged in and everything.
mabe its the software, does any one know if a good quality free fast ripper?
I teach online and my new Dell laptop Inspiron 15 3520 is useless. I cannot use it in online chat with students because now the cursor is moving to other lines of text and inserting my typing. I uninstalled the touchpad driver as that seems to be something recommended here. I tried to reinstall from the Dell website and it failed. So now I not only have an awful computer but a useless one. I'm regretting the Dell decision after just a week.
When I try to access my files on one of those file transfer boxes that can be used as an external drive it is impossible to read my files or play the mp3s. I had a password on my account and now that the comp it was on is dead I cannot go back and fix that. The 1525 uses SATA and the 8600 had PATA? i think thats right. But the main thing is I am locked out of my old files and not abe to transfer them.
What can I do? 8600 was xp and 1525 vista of course
I have an Aspire 8930G and his cpu is moving between 30% and 100% all the time and its working quite slowly I used ccleaner and Spybot and still it works slowly what can be done? also in preformence on Task menger i see a 100% in cpu usege but when i go to the processor tab all i see in sum are no more then 30-35% cpu usege
I bought my Sony SZ series a while back on my trip to Japan. But whenever I try to do a driver update or upgrade it takes forever (24-36hours) and would often disconnect because it connects to the 'Asia Support Site'
