My Dell Inspiron 1525's touchpad no longer works. It worked fine this morning. I updated security essentials and windows and then it stopped working after updates had installed. I tried system restore and it still does not work. I can use a corded USB mouse, but I really need the touchpad.

Just got a brand new laptop, Dell Inspiron 11 3137, and updated to windows 8.1. The touchpad does not work properly now; gestures/scrolling/pointer not working. I've spent over 16 hours getting windows 8.1 installed and then troubleshooting this issue. I've contacted Dell; updated the driver from Dell, even tried installing the latest driver from Synaptic. I even tried setting the Synaptic app to run under the windows 8 version.
Touchpads have been around a long time. It's the last thing I expect not to work properly.
At this point I am ready to send the laptop back and call it quits on windows.

View 14 Replies View RelatedAfter connecting to the internet on my laptop(Dell inspiron 1525, Windows Vista), the internet connection will work great for 5 minutes or less than it slows down drastically or essentially not working at all. If I disconnect and reconnect it will work again but just for a short amount of time. The wireless connection works great on other laptops, tablets and mobile. I have Mcafee antivirus, and it could not detect any malware or viruses. Tried restoring the computer to factory settings and the internet stays connected for what seem a few minutes longer.

All was fine until I unplugged it - now the laptop's touchpad will not work, despite the fact that as far as the computer is concerned, it is enabled (have gone through control panel, touchpad controls, etc. - everything thinks the touchpad is enabled). Drivers are up to date. Mouse works fine when I plug it back in, but cannot get the touchpad functioning.

Now touch pad is not working and Wifi adapter is also not working. I swear its only 7 hours when i purchased this laptop. and facing these issues.
I also tried the drivers from dell website. downloaded and installed. my win8 is 64 bits.
How to resolve it. is this issue is under warranty?
the left button on the touchpad is playing up. When I click the left button the diagram of the left button on the little Dell Touchpad icon in the system tray lights up as if it's being pressed when it actually isn't. So it basically makes it impossible to use the touchpad because it then acts as if I'm holding down left click so it highlights everything. It's a real pain in the butt! The right clicker works fine.
Physically there isn't anything wrong with the button and it isn't sticking or anything like that. I tried reinstalling the drivers and it was ok for about 10 minutes and then just did the same thing.
My g and h keys stopped working after a Windows 8.1 update occurred on my Inspiron 15R-5521. I didn't even want te update--but could not stop it.
I have tried updatin BIOS drivers, input drivers, and altering keyboard functions in control panel.
To any owners of Dell Inspiron 1525 laptops who participate on this board, are any of you experiencing any unusual problems with your computer's touchpads and also are you experiencing erratic cursor movements on your computers whether your computers are operating off of battery power or on A.C. power? If you are or have in the past and you contacted Dell about it were your issues resolved to your satisfaction and what did Dell do to resolve those issues? I'm considering purchasing an Inspiron 1525 to replace a 2 year old damaged Inspiron 1300 but I'd like to get some feedback from posters on this board who happen to own an Inspiron 1525.
View 10 Replies View RelatedI was on a friend's brand-new inspiron 1525 today. After I began using it, I immediately noticed just how awful the touchpad is.
It is extremely inprecise. It's almost as if the sensitivity is constantly changing as I use the touchpad. I don't remember if I tried adjusting the settings; if I did, it didn't help.
I soon discovered that if you move your finger in a perfectly straight horizontal motion across the touchpad (no vertical motion), the cursor, as it's moving across the screen, will also 'bounce" up and down, getting worse towards the right side of the tochpad.
It doesn't abruptly jump at all; rather, it's as if the linearity of the touchpad is WAY off.
I have a Dell Inspiron 7000 series and 2 days ago Windows installed a critical update which stopped my keyboard and mouse working, I have had to do a system restore to get it working again but with it being a critical update I'm assuming I will need it.

I tried Re Installing Windows 8 but still the same issue. Also tried Installing Windows 7 but When Windows 7 Installation Finishes the System Restarts and Shows a blue Purple (Dark Blue) saying Your System BIOS is not ACPI Compliant.
I have tried Installing Windows 7 and Windows 8 several time but still the issue persists.
My DV5035nr was recently wiped and upgraded to Windows 7. the touchpad jumps around and is driving me nuts. i went on the synaptics website, and downloaded the driver suggested, but the same problem keeps happening. should i be downloading another driver? In between steps, i went into the control panel, and deleted the synaptics driver before installing the new one. the touchpad works great when there isn't a program or driver associated with it. can i run it without the extra software?

I have an Inspiron 1525 with 4gb RAM and 285gb hard drive (158gb free). Processor is 2.17gHz, dual core. O/S Vista. Up until very recently, it's been running fine. But within the last week or two, it has gotten veerrryyy slow. The fan seems to be running more often (maybe it's my imagination), and the video is halting even for a simple game of Free Cell. I have ccleaner which I run regularly. I have also run two different spyware programs and Norton Utilities optimizer.
I just had to replace my desktop computer a few months ago. I certainly don't want to have to replace this one too.
I have an Inspiron 1525 and the webcam has stopped working. I don't even have an Imaging Device visible on my Device Manager.

View 3 Replies View RelatedI bought my new latop in October and would like to restore it to it's origional factory settings, however I have been unable to do this as I have been told a number of different actions to try by PC performance and none of them work:
First I was told to press f8 on a reboot then select repair my computer so I pressed f8 and there was no option to repair my computer;
Second I was told to restart and press f12 insert a blank dvd and boot using cd/dvd which would create a boot disc which in turn would restore to factory settings, after choosing boot from cd/dvd my laptop just restarts as normal without creating a boot disc;
I was then told to burn recovery (which was on a small drive D:) to disc first then boot from cd/dvd which has no effect again windows starts normally.........
So I had a look around this recovery file and found a setup icon that said factory restore when I clicked on it, I got the message ERROR: the factory image could not be found please reinstall using the operating system media dvd.
My computer (inspiron 1525) web cam is not working.... suspect some software problem! how can I down load the soft ware? The CD is not with me.

Whenever I try to use the camera the blue light comes on as if to say that it is working but the picture is just black. When I click to take a picture regardless a box pops up that says "Unable to capture a photo. Please reconnect your camera and try again". But if the camera is integrated how can disconnect it? Have tried reinstalling drivers and even the webcam manager itself but it has not worked.
View 12 Replies View RelatedI just finished installing Windows 7 on my new dv7-1285dx and while everything works just fine after a Windows update (audio/video/touchpad/sd card reader), when I run device manager there are three devices with no drivers and a small yellow exclamation mark on their icon. These three devices are all listed as "Base System Device" and when I tried searching for a driver update online it didn't find anything. I visited HP's drivers page for my model and I think I have everything listed there already working... It's just these three devices which I don't even know what they are.
In the original Vista install that came with the laptop there are no such errors in Device Manager. I already have my recovery discs if these might help in this situation.

I upgraded to windows 8 from Windows Vista Home Basic. My problem is that on the windows action centre, I get the report that my antivirus and firewall are off and I can't switch them on. I am using Norton 360. Is there a way to solve this? In my Norton, the are both ON. How can I solve these issues, I'm not feeling safe when I go online.

The most distressing thing is that when I go the mouse hardware/driver, the only thing that the computer is recognizing is the usb mouse I am having to use.
View 2 Replies View RelatedTouch pad is no longer working. I have had my Dell Inspiron 17R for abut 15 months and the touchpad has not worked for at least 12 of them. At first I noticed the problem after my computer would install updates and I'd have to restore the computer to a particular snapshot point. That worked for all of one week. Then I also checked the drivers. That was unsuccessful. I have also tried pressing F3 + Fn and nothing. I won't begin to mention that I have to hold this laptop a particular way to get it to turn on.... I do know, the touchpad on a basically new laptop is supposed to work and the device is supposed to turn on when you press the power button without having to do some form of sorcery.
