Dell Inspiron 1525 :: Slow Working With 4GB RAM
Apr 4, 2013I have an Inspiron 1525 with 4gb RAM and 285gb hard drive (158gb free). Processor is 2.17gHz, dual core. O/S Vista. Up until very recently, it's been running fine. But within the last week or two, it has gotten veerrryyy slow. The fan seems to be running more often (maybe it's my imagination), and the video is halting even for a simple game of Free Cell. I have ccleaner which I run regularly. I have also run two different spyware programs and Norton Utilities optimizer.
I just had to replace my desktop computer a few months ago. I certainly don't want to have to replace this one too.

Jan 25, 2009I bought my new latop in October and would like to restore it to it's origional factory settings, however I have been unable to do this as I have been told a number of different actions to try by PC performance and none of them work:
First I was told to press f8 on a reboot then select repair my computer so I pressed f8 and there was no option to repair my computer;
Second I was told to restart and press f12 insert a blank dvd and boot using cd/dvd which would create a boot disc which in turn would restore to factory settings, after choosing boot from cd/dvd my laptop just restarts as normal without creating a boot disc;
I was then told to burn recovery (which was on a small drive D:) to disc first then boot from cd/dvd which has no effect again windows starts normally.........
So I had a look around this recovery file and found a setup icon that said factory restore when I clicked on it, I got the message ERROR: the factory image could not be found please reinstall using the operating system media dvd.

If I disconnect and reconnect it will work again but just for a short amount of time. The wireless connection works great on other laptops, tablets and mobile. I have Mcafee antivirus, and it could not detect any malware or viruses. Tried restoring the computer to factory settings and the internet stays connected for what seem a few minutes longer.

May 27, 2010My warranty has no run out so dell can't actually support me. Whenever I try to use the camera the blue light comes on as if to say that it is working but the picture is just black. When I click to take a picture regardless a box pops up that says "Unable to capture a photo. Please reconnect your camera and try again". But if the camera is integrated how can disconnect it? Have tried reinstalling drivers and even the webcam manager itself but it has not worked.

Sep 25, 2011I have dell inspiron duo 1090 with a multi touch screen suportted in windows 7, and the multi touch feature (right click with 2 fingers touch, zooming) used to work until I upgraded dell datasafe local backup to version 9.4.60 (after automatic reminder) and after this install the touch screen is working but the multi-tocuh functionality doesn't (although it was enabled in the windows settings) - no zooming or right click with 2 features touch, after I restored this software to version 9.4.51 the multi-touch is back to work, I checked this again and again to isolate the source of the problem and it really seems like a strange bug in datasafe 9.4.60.
How do I report this bug to dell so I could update the dell datasafe to an updated version but without loosing the multi-touch functionality.

Sep 25, 2014Every time when the laptop goes to sleep mode by itself and I turn it on again, the touch screen will be partly unresponsive, to be more specific, it is the upper part of the screen. The problem is only at the screen, mouse and touchpad are working fine. Now I can solve the problem by pressing power button to let it sleep and press again to turn it on, but I don't want to do this everyday.

Nov 17, 2014I bought a dell xps 13 a few months ago. I was pretty happy with its performance untill a few days ago, when its touchpad refuses to scroll periodically. While it is refusing to scroll, other multi-finger gestures like zoom, pinch etc work. Also, touchscreen scroll and mouse scroll also work. Problem doesn't go away even if I disable and re enable the driver. It sometimes goes away on its own, or on restarting the computer.

Jan 19, 2013HP Pavilion dv7 laptop which came loaded with Windows 7, I upgraded it to Windows 8 but now the Touch Pad scrolling is not working.

updating the driverreinstalled original drivertroubleshoot compatibility on the originaltried a battery remove / hold power button option These have not fixed my scroll at all. No other gestures are working either... The Synaptics pointing devide driver is installed at this time.
The only thing I CAN DO is point-and-click on by touchpad.

Jun 9, 2014I have followed advice on changing settings on the mousepad in the control panel, in my settings it shows I have enabled (ticked) all of 2 finger scrolling vertical and horizontal and one finger scrolling vertical and horizontal, and have clicked apply, however the touchpad still won't let me scroll on pages. All i can use the touchpad for is to click and moe the pointer around the page. It used to work until recently and I only bought the laptop in January. This is very frustrating as i bought the laptop for study use as an open uni student I have to read a lot of journals so thesudden lack of non scrolling is extremely awkward.
I have tried the changing of settings (once I found the control panel) already so how to get this to work again.

Nov 4, 2014It appears that the only way to scroll with the current driver is the two finger scroll. I need a driver that will allow me to edge scroll, that is using one finger on the far right of the touchpad for scrolling. Bonus points if the driver allows "momentum" and doesn't mess up other stuff.
