I just bought a Dell computer from my friend, the mouse worked until last night, now both the mouse and touchpad aren't working!I've tried pressing the button that turns the touchpad off and on, and it did absolutely nothing.I CANNOT use my mouse at all.

I am having a problem with the mouse, both the touchpad, and when I plug an external mouse in (although the problem seems to occur with somewhat less frequency when I am using the external mouse). The computer is having trouble recognizing mouse clicks. Sometimes it recognizes them properly, sometimes it responds to left clicks as if they were right clicks, and sometimes it does not respond to them at all. The problem seems to be worse when I am using a web browser, but it occurs consistently.

View 7 Replies View RelatedI am having problems with the touchpad on my laptop. When I am in the middle of typing I have to watch because it will begin typing where my cursor was laft on the screen. I have to be very careful because I barely touch my touchpad and the mouse will click. I have tried to figure out how to turn the sensitivity down but I cannot find it in the devices. It tells me no devices were found when I click on the mouse folder. I have tried and tried but I cannot find anywhere to change the settings for the touchpad. when I am trying to type a paper and I look up and half my paper is in the middle of a different section or it just hasn't been typing because I have clicked out of the screen.
View 1 Replies View RelatedI have tried all the other tips and driver downloads, removing battery, reloading drivers, sleep "wake up", all with temporary success. Acer says to refresh the computer, that does not work either. It is new with about 20 hours on it. I took the first machine back to retailer and same situation with the new machine.
Clearly this is an issue with Acer notebook touchpads and at least in my case W8.1. That is why google is littered with search titles for acer touch pads not working.
Sometimes my cursor changes into a shape that's not in the list of possible mouse pointers and I can't print screen it, because it's not in the image when I search it..
It looks like this: 2small white triangles with a white line in between. Sometimes they point left and right, and my pc starts scrolling sideways, and sometimes they point up and down and it starts scrolling downwards.
I updated a lot of drivers and restarted my pc. I scanned for viruses, but nothing could be found.
It happens with or without a mouse inserted. It's really annoying, because surfing on the internet becomes frustrating.
O yeah, that pc doctor from the dell site did not find anything either.
It's a relatively new inspiron laptop (less than a year) and I have this problem since the beginning.
I have an Inspiron 14R N4110 (bought 6 months ago) and recently the touchpad has been going crazy everytime I am using the mouse. It flicks back and forth between abling and disabling the touchpad, so much that I am unable to use the mouse because it continually engages and disengages. Some times it can happen 30 times in 1 minute. I went into the mouse properties and disabled the touchpad altogether but it still keeps doing it. I have run the diagnostic from the Dell site and downloaded all the required drivers, but nothing is working.

"The AC adapter wattage and type cannot be determined. The battery may not charge. The system will adjust the performance to match the power available. Please connect a Dell 65W AC adapter or greater for the best system performance."
I don't know why I am getting this message since:
- I am using the 65W Dell AC adapter that came with the laptop- The adapter is charging the battery properly- The green light on the adapter stays on all the time when in use- The port connection is fine
So, other than this annoying error message, everything seems to be working fine. Should I just ignore it ? If not, what else do you recommend I do ?

3days back droped my laptop? My system is Dell Inspiron N5010, it has a i5 processor and 6 GB of DDR3 RAM.
Basically, here's what happens:
1. I press the button to turn on my laptop
2. Everything seems to work fine

I have a Dell n5010 laptop.... sometimes I have seen that laptop is getting shutdown automatically after 5-6 minutes of powered on. Lots of internet search I came to know about HWiNFO software which shows cpu temperature and fan speed.... I have seen sometimes cpu gets heated up but the fan is not started yet causing overheat issue.. so as shutting down the system... my bios is up to date as per dell website latest bios driver version A15... I am sensing that that the thermal sensor may be not working properly always... Please note down not always it is happening sometimes it is happening...???

View 1 Replies View RelatedI have dell inspiron duo 1090 with a multi touch screen suportted in windows 7, and the multi touch feature (right click with 2 fingers touch, zooming) used to work until I upgraded dell datasafe local backup to version 9.4.60 (after automatic reminder) and after this install the touch screen is working but the multi-tocuh functionality doesn't (although it was enabled in the windows settings) - no zooming or right click with 2 features touch, after I restored this software to version 9.4.51 the multi-touch is back to work, I checked this again and again to isolate the source of the problem and it really seems like a strange bug in datasafe 9.4.60.
How do I report this bug to dell so I could update the dell datasafe to an updated version but without loosing the multi-touch functionality.
Is there any chance the xps 1645 will have a multi-touch mouse pad anytime soon? I find that feature in the macs really cool. Since I'm about to buy a 1645, was just wondering if it was worth waiting sometime
View 4 Replies View RelatedEvery time when the laptop goes to sleep mode by itself and I turn it on again, the touch screen will be partly unresponsive, to be more specific, it is the upper part of the screen. The problem is only at the screen, mouse and touchpad are working fine. Now I can solve the problem by pressing power button to let it sleep and press again to turn it on, but I don't want to do this everyday.
