Using Windows 7 on an Inspiron N5110. Get a black screen when system loads indicating a previous incorrect shutdown, with the options to load Safe or Normal. But the system will not accept any of these options, as a matter of act, the system will not accept anything.

View 7 Replies View RelatedI have a dell inspiron 1545. In the last month a trojan virus was discovered (unknown if this has anything to do with anything). I thought the fan was making a lot of sounds so over the weekend I sprayed it with canned air, which stopped the noise. Yesterday it started just shutting down. It does not re-start without you physically pushing the button. This can happen at any time.
I used Dell's PC Doc Came up with the following errors:
Tested and Needs Attention: (1) Video Card: Mobile Intel(R) 4 Series Express Chipset Family Shader Rendering DX10 Test Cannot Run The test cannot complete due to a possible driver problem.

I tried doing a diagnostic with an F12 at startup, and it does the same shut down deal during that as well. So it does not complete.
Inspiron N4110 When I shut the lid it enters sleep mode. Until now when I would open lid and push the power button it wakes up. Now it does nothing and I have to hold power button down to force shutdown then restart.

Recently I have a problem with the battery, The laptop detects the battery well and displays the percentage of charge and that the battery is charging etc. (on windows 7), but as soon as I remove the charger, it turns off and does not restart without the charger plugged.
I tried with another battery, same result. I also noticed that the battery light flashes 4 times red, then green again.
I am facing problem on turn off . after press shutdown, it just close the lcd but still power button is on. i have to press and hold on the power button for complete shutdown.
View 16 Replies View RelatedMy laptop is Dell N5110 (Inspiron 15R), it suddenly shutdown when I try to type on the keyboard. Then I tried more and more to open it again, but it didn't work. After a while, I opened it, and when I tried to write something again, it suddenly shutdown, and so on.
View 5 Replies View RelatedI can't turn off my laptop. Widnows shuts down, the hard drive LED doesn't blink, just the power LED and I can hear the fan from time to time and it just hangs there. So, all I can do is hold the power button and force it to shut down. Even more weird is the fact that I can restart the computer. This started about a month ago and I've tried everything I could think of... to no avail. Here's my system info:
Computer Type ACPI x64-based PC (Mobile)
Operating System Microsoft Windows 7 Ultimate
OS Service Pack Service Pack 1
CPU Type Mobile DualCore Intel Core i3-2330M, 2200 MHz (22 x 100)
Motherboard Name Dell Inspiron N5110
Motherboard Chipset Intel Cougar Point HM67, Intel Sandy Bridge
System Memory 8098 MB (DDR3-1333 DDR3 SDRAM)
Video Adapter Intel(R) HD Graphics 3000 (2108 MB)
Video Adapter NVIDIA GeForce GT 525M (1048384 KB)
Here's what I did:
1) I suspected a Windows update, so I tried to restore to a previous point.
2) Didn't want to reinstall Windows, so I tried to boot from the Windows CD and shut it down from there.
3) I tried to let it hang after the shutdown. This brought up a BSOD two times. It was DRIVER_POWER_STATE_FAILURE.
4) Then I started suspecting the BIOS. Updated to A13 (the latest version for my model)
5) Resetting the BIOS to default settings.
6) Updated all drivers to the latest.
7) Restored the MBR. (Windows repair said that it couldn't find my Windows installation, even though I was able to boot)
8) Tried to shut down without the battery.
9) Tried to shut down without the power adapter.
10) Ran all Dell support center tests. The short ones, though. No problems were found.
My laptop is still under warranty, so I won't open it, but I'd like to know that I have tried everything before I contact the support center. My job is on my laptop. I don't have a PC, so if I take it to support, I won't be able to work.
I have bought my new laptop 3 months ago.My laptop was running fine and I happily played counter strike on it.After some days while listening songs. My laptops speakers stops working than I go to the dell warranty claim centre they took my pc and change the speaker of my laptop and give me back after one week but after getting my pc back I am trying to play the counter strike game but when I run the counter strike game my laptop shutdown immediately. My laptop is dell core i5 n5110 with 4 gb ram and 1 gb nvidia graphics card.

As a routine maintenance task, I ran chkdsk /r on my Inspiron 1545 last night and it hung at 69% in stage 5 for over 10 hours. I figured it was hung for good, so shut the machine off. When I turned it back on I got the black screen with a "missing operating system". Message.
Worst case, is it as simple to get a factory restore by hitting F8 at bootup like I;ve seen posted on the web? If not, I do have the factory system recovery disks I made, but I really want to save what's on the laptop already.
I have bought aspire one windows xp version last week. It happen today when I try to start the notebook it only can stand for about a minute and after that it shutdown automatically. I have connected it with power supply but it still happened.
View 9 Replies View RelatedFirst of all my M1330 has been serving me quite well lately. I've only had it for about 6 months, but the only problems I've had were the computer getting hot.
As of last night, when I pressed the power button to go into sleep mode (I always do this before I go to bed),
it would pop up a BSOD, and then restart my computer, and pop up a black screen asking if I wanted to reboot in safe mode or not
getting the password for a Dell N5110. A friend of mine was having display problems so we tried resetting factory defaults and now we are completely locked out of using the computer.I read on some previous posts of DELL users saying message me the details, with proof of ownership however the posts were a little dated, is this still a viable option, and in which case who do I need to message?
View 1 Replies View RelatedI recently got a Latitude D510 from a friend, he says it wont turn off unless you hold down the power button, I tried turning it off by the start menu selection (windows 7 home premium sp1)
And it starts turning off. Then a Blue screen pops up for at least 30 seconds and then it restarts.
Took delivery of my brand new y510p yesterday and the last 24 hours have been hell. The PC is incredibly slow, much slower than my three year old XPS 15 from dell.
The laptop won't shut down/restart.. It just goes through shutdown screen then black screen with keyboard monitor fan etc still on.I have done a system recovery back to initial state and am now running windows updates as first port of call but its been stuck on 13 out of 32 update (whilst shutting down) for the past hour and half.
Notebook x240 Dock: Thinkpad Pro Dock (40A1 M20) this is important cause the update firmware tools must be for this version (40a1 m20) if someone has a link to it.

I cannot turn off my acer laptop since windows 8.1 update.. whenever i do shutdown, it simply just restart after shutting down.. i dont know how to turn off my laptop.. also sleep and hibernate seems not functioning, in a couple of seconds it awakes again..
I tried the every thing about the power management to untick something about fast startup.. still no luck
And i forced to shutdown my laptop during startup but it cause me a problem.. It wont power on.. and it seems dead but when i plug the power adapter the battery is charging but no signs of powering up(no power led, just battery led) whenever i press the power button.. i tried dispersing the static electricty but no luck.. the only option that solve my problem on not powering up is to disassemble my laptop and remove cmos battery. then i assembled it back.. it shows 1 blink of power led whenever i plug in the ac adapter without the laptop battery plugin.. and then it powers up again after i press the power button.. what a relief.. but it doesnt fix my shutdown problem..
the only thing i havent tried is BIOS update.. but im having problem right now..
i tried last year to update my BIOS after that it went wrong the black "screen of death" they call.. so i sent my laptop to service center.. and it fixed!..
I tried lately to update my BIOS but it says that i have already an updated BIOS version 2.19.. i guess this is the bios version installed by service center.. how can i apply the BIOS posted on ACER website with the latest version 2.15?

I recently purchased a Dell Inspiron 15R N5110 which consists of a nVidia GT525M graphics card (as per the configuration). But when I check the system specs under system rating -> details; it is showing only Intel HD graphics with a dedicated graphics memory of 64MB and complete shared graphics memory of 1696MB. My card of 1GB is not getting displayed.
But, in device manager, I can see my nVidia card.how do I enable my graphics card? Is there any problem only with my system? How can I see the nVidia card in the system specs?

I have an XPS L701x that will automatically go into sleep mode after only a couple of minutes of using the system, and won't "wake up" unless I remove the battery and reboot it. I've checked my power settings and they show "Never" on going into sleep mode.
View 1 Replies View RelatedMy x220 is driving me crazy these days. Some days ago I experienced very strange behavior of my system. I was just using the notebook as always as it started to stutter.
With stuttering I mean everything is working for 1-2 seconds then is stuck for 1-2 seconds, working, stuck, working so on so forth.
With everything I mean the mouse movement, hard disk load, graphics movement, audio, everything simultaneously. This problem does show up not only if Windows is up but also when Windows is booting or if I start a live linux distribution.
I also noticed that sometimes when I'm moving around the ultranav trackpoint the cursor jumps to one display edge and opens a context window as if I had pressed the right mouse button.
What I did so far:
Reboot my system several times.
Checked Task-Manager: nothing out of the ordinary
Reset BIOS to factory settings
Updated everything to newest stuff
Started a live Linux distribution instead of Windows 7
Decrypted my system (TrueCrypt)
Deactivated Power Management/SpeedStep via BIOS settings
Switched to Single-Core processing via BIOS settings
Swapping RAM from 2x8GB CORSAIR to 2x4GB KINGSTON
Swapped SSD with original HDD
Try booting windows in safe mode
I'm almost at a point to say this can't be a software issue and that it is something mainboard/CPU/GPU related, but I want to be certain before contacting the support.
Another thing I noticed: The stuttering starts exactly when the windows logo shows up and the screen automatically dimmes itself while starting windows. Something is happening in that moment. I may need to add that I did not install anything prior to the current situation. That does support the hardware relation.

HP pavilion 14 with touchscreen on windows 8 every time i press the shutdown button screen go off but the power button keep lighting and the fan too i waited around 5 hour nothing happen. I reformatted and i got the same result updated to 8.1 and I tried the latest driver on the hp site same result i thought it was a hardware problem so i tried installing win 7 it worked perfect.
Note that i had a lot of problem installing ati driver for windows 8.1 from the HP site it do not recognize the graphic card so i installed the ati moblity driver 14.4 . and i got the latest bios update.
I have the DV9000 series Laptop. It is the DV9235NR model (but not the DV9200 series...shows DV9000 on the bottom).
Anyways...I decided to try to upgrade the interal wireless G with a wireless N card that is from HP. It has the HP part number and everything. When I put the card in, this error comes up. I read that the bios doesn't recongnize the card. I took the card out, booted up to Windows with my old wireless card, put the computer in sleep mode, took out the old card and put the new card in. Works perfect. I know the card it good.
How can I make the new card work without having to do this? I heard about a bios hack. How is this done? Could I modify the Wifi card also? I did update to the newest bios on my laptop (dated 2008) and that didn't work. How about a bios from another series laptop?
