At start up my Inspiron M5110 laptop will not take my password. I can' t access anything except shutdown or restart. It displays the message stated above.
View 7 RepliesI have a dell inspiron 1545. In the last month a trojan virus was discovered (unknown if this has anything to do with anything). I thought the fan was making a lot of sounds so over the weekend I sprayed it with canned air, which stopped the noise. Yesterday it started just shutting down. It does not re-start without you physically pushing the button. This can happen at any time.
I used Dell's PC Doc Came up with the following errors:

I tried doing a diagnostic with an F12 at startup, and it does the same shut down deal during that as well. So it does not complete.
1.We click on studown tab
2. System is shutdown properly.
3.After some time.
4.It is automatic restart after some time
Inspiron N4110 When I shut the lid it enters sleep mode. Until now when I would open lid and push the power button it wakes up. Now it does nothing and I have to hold power button down to force shutdown then restart.

I am quite annoyed about my trackpad getting in the way while typing. the cursor will sometimes unclick, jump onto another part of whatever I am typing or click onto everything and erase it! since i have downloaded windows 8 i have not found a way too disable the trackpad. i use a seperate mouse and i want to permanently disable my track pad.

As of last night, when I pressed the power button to go into sleep mode (I always do this before I go to bed),
it would pop up a BSOD, and then restart my computer, and pop up a black screen asking if I wanted to reboot in safe mode or not
I recently got a Latitude D510 from a friend, he says it wont turn off unless you hold down the power button, I tried turning it off by the start menu selection (windows 7 home premium sp1)
And it starts turning off. Then a Blue screen pops up for at least 30 seconds and then it restarts.
Took delivery of my brand new y510p yesterday and the last 24 hours have been hell.The PC is incredibly slow, much slower than my three year old XPS 15 from dell.
The laptop won't shut down/restart.. It just goes through shutdown screen then black screen with keyboard monitor fan etc still on.I have done a system recovery back to initial state and am now running windows updates as first port of call but its been stuck on 13 out of 32 update (whilst shutting down) for the past hour and half.

I cannot turn off my acer laptop since windows 8.1 update.. whenever i do shutdown, it simply just restart after shutting down.. i dont know how to turn off my laptop.. also sleep and hibernate seems not functioning, in a couple of seconds it awakes again..
I tried the every thing about the power management to untick something about fast startup.. still no luck
And i forced to shutdown my laptop during startup but it cause me a problem.. It wont power on.. and it seems dead but when i plug the power adapter the battery is charging but no signs of powering up(no power led, just battery led) whenever i press the power button.. i tried dispersing the static electricty but no luck.. the only option that solve my problem on not powering up is to disassemble my laptop and remove cmos battery. then i assembled it back.. it shows 1 blink of power led whenever i plug in the ac adapter without the laptop battery plugin.. and then it powers up again after i press the power button.. what a relief.. but it doesnt fix my shutdown problem..
the only thing i havent tried is BIOS update.. but im having problem right now..
i tried last year to update my BIOS after that it went wrong the black "screen of death" they call.. so i sent my laptop to service center.. and it fixed!..
I tried lately to update my BIOS but it says that i have already an updated BIOS version 2.19.. i guess this is the bios version installed by service center.. how can i apply the BIOS posted on ACER website with the latest version 2.15?
If i want to turn off my laptop, i simply close the lcd monitor to remain it in sleep mode..
I have also tried disconnecting from network and turning off wifi from the signal strength icon as well prior to shutdown. When the adapter stays open when I return to the laptop and connect again it shows that i have been connected via the adapter for days at a time. This eventually leads to the connection being clogged up and causing timeouts preventing me from connecting to the net. I stopped ittwice but dont know what I did.

My 7 seemed to break today after playing around with a program called powerstrip trying to get my external monitor to show the right resolution (I've realised now the cable vga was broke, but meh) but this is not the full problem, after windows 7 failed to boot I tried to boot xp after turning it off during the windows 7 splash screen and now im stuck with a dash when I turn the laptop on (I dont know if its actully related to something I've done or not).
If I turn the laptop on a flashing dash comes on in the top right, it then stops flashing and turns into a none flashing dash further up the screen and just locks here and I cant do anything at all other than trying to restart it. When I had this problem previously (at least I think this problem) on my desktop it usualy turned out to be something usb related but I have everything unplugged (all though the bluetooth adapter light is on when it is doing this) so I realy dont know what to do...............

I just bought a new Dell inspiron 15R laptop , and i want to make factory backup.I insert a USB flash and press "continue", but it keeps loading and when it recognizes the USB flash and i press "start" it prints out that there is a problem with Dell Backup and Recovery and i should restart the program !

View 1 Replies View RelatedRecently, I have a problem with my Dell Inspiron 1420 as it's often freeze and auto shut down or restart. When it freezes, my screen will appear many small black pixels which are scattered around the desktop.
During the restart process, the system will require me to choose one of the few options available (eg. Start Windows Normally) as it stated there that the laptop was not shut down properly.
Remarks: My Dell Inspiron 1420 is equipped with NVidea 8400M GS.

Recently I have a problem with the battery, The laptop detects the battery well and displays the percentage of charge and that the battery is charging etc. (on windows 7), but as soon as I remove the charger, it turns off and does not restart without the charger plugged.
I tried with another battery, same result. I also noticed that the battery light flashes 4 times red, then green again.
i have a dell inspiron b130 and every once in a while the thing just shuts off lke the bat has been takin out, no shutdown process or nothin. i know the battery is shot, i was just wondering if its the cord or the ac jack on the computer itself? i can mess with the cord by the computer and i can get it to work. but also the cord has been chewed on near in the middle between the ac plug and the power brick....

View 3 Replies View RelatedI have a Dell Inspiron 14x 5423 that will reboot/restart but will not shut down, sleep, or hibernate. The screen shows shutting down, the screen and the hard drive turns off, but the power light and fan stay on until the battery dies in the laptop. I hold the power button and everything shuts off. When booting, I do not get the windows improperly shut down error the I normally get when I just hold the power button to shut off the computer so I suspect the operating system is shut down! I have tried updating bios to A13, video drivers, Chipset drivers, and Windows 8.1, The laptop passes all diagnostics.I even tried admin command prompt and "shutdown /s /f /h 0" command with no different results. Changed all settings in Control Panel to enable sleep and/or hibernate. I downloaded KB hot-fix which says it is for Windows 7 as another test.

View 2 Replies View RelatedAs a routine maintenance task, I ran chkdsk /r on my Inspiron 1545 last night and it hung at 69% in stage 5 for over 10 hours. I figured it was hung for good, so shut the machine off. When I turned it back on I got the black screen with a "missing operating system". Message.
Worst case, is it as simple to get a factory restore by hitting F8 at bootup like I;ve seen posted on the web? If not, I do have the factory system recovery disks I made, but I really want to save what's on the laptop already.

When I am using it continuously its working fine , when i go away from system(kept idle for sometime) it gets shutdown. So I need to re-login and it closes all the application which i was using before shutdown.
I already did some initial checks like scanning entire system for virus(i hardly have any data on system) and Dell online PC Check which passes all the test.
My laptop Dell inspiron N5010 shutdown automatically after some time, i alse diagnose the problem, during diagnose i get the error 2000-0146 of hard disk.
laptop is also shutdown automatically during diagnose and in safe mode. How to diagnose this problem..
I have having serious issues with my Inspiron N5010. It freezes at random times, and after a few seconds just powers off. I have used the restore function built in to restore to factory shipped condition and it did not fix the issue. I have ran the Dell Diagnostics on startup and tested every component possible and it found no errors. I have ran disk surface error check in windows and it found nothing wrong. I have installed windows manually from windows disc, and the problem is still there. Tried making sure the latest drivers are installed and still no fix. This laptop has never been abused, dropped, overheated, or gotten wet. It still looks brand new.
View 8 Replies View RelatedI've had an Inspiron 15R (N1550) for a year and a half now. Six months in, the fan shot its bearings and had to be replaced under warranty by a Dell technician. About four months ago, I started experiencing overheating issues again resulting in thermal shutdown when running resource-intensive applications for any length of time. After use, the case would literally become too hot to touch. I updated my BIOS, cleaned out the areas I could reach with canned air, and operate the laptop on a cooling pad at all times. Even this had, at best, minimal effect on the duration for which the computer could run without reaching excessive temperatures.
Recently, I noticed that the fan wasn't throttling when running high-load applications, either, so I installed SpeedFan and confirmed that it never seemed to come out of the idle state. SpeedFan appears to have fixed the throttling issue, however, even when clocking the fan to a minimum of 60% and a maximum of 100% once any of the components rise above 55-60deg (c) while blowing cold air at maximum speed from an external fan directly over the vent, I get at most half an hour out of games or high-demand video editing software before I experience another thermal shutdown. If I stop playing halfway through, then quit the game and examine the temperature gauges on SpeedFan, Cores 0-3 show as between 85-93 degrees, and two readings, Temp5 and Temp6 (the chip for which simply reads "DELL") shows as 90-95 degrees.
