Acer Aspire E15 :: Start Running 8.1 Won't Turn Off Wireless Adapter On Shutdown Preventing Net Access
Jan 8, 2015
I have also tried disconnecting from network and turning off wifi from the signal strength icon as well prior to shutdown. When the adapter stays open when I return to the laptop and connect again it shows that i have been connected via the adapter for days at a time. This eventually leads to the connection being clogged up and causing timeouts preventing me from connecting to the net. I stopped ittwice but dont know what I did.
I have an Acer Aspire 5741-5698 running Windows 7. Â I never want to connect to the internet wirelessly. Â I only want to connect rarely with a wired connection. Â I can disconnect the wireless by pressing Fn+F3 but I never see a "Launch Manager". Â The problem is when I turn off the computer and turn it back on, it defaults to connect wirelessly. Â I went to Manage Wireless Networks in Control Panel and selected Manually Connect to my home Network. Â That did not work. How can I stop it from connecting automatically wirelessly? Â
I have a new T400 (2768GP6) running Windows 7 Enterprise (~3 weeks old). This morning it just turned off all of a sudden and won't turn back on. I tried pressing the power button 10 times and holding it down on the 11th time with no AC or battery connected, but it's just dead. None of the indicators are lit when connected to AC.
I might point out that I did spill some coffee on the keyboard this morning about 5 minutes before it shut off. But, it was barely a few drops (you know, the few drops that remain although the cup is technically empty) and I wiped it all off with a paper towel. Those few drops spilled at the bottom left-hand corner, right by the Fn and Ctrl keys.

i cant Able to install wireless network adapter in my laptop..I downloaded all updated drivers from Acer website but still its missing and not able to connect WIFI.
I'm having major problems with connecting to the wireless network in the office. It sees the network, allows me to enter the security credentials, then connects (with confimed internet connectivity) but drops out after 10-20 seconds. I have tried the wireless network at a friend's house which worked ok without any interruptions, so it is definitely nothing wrong with the hardware. I'm using a brand new Acer Aspire V3-572-56T3 on Windows 8.1, with all the latest drivers/patches loaded and have tried fiddling with many of the advanced settings for the network adapter to no avail. I logged on to the router to ensure all settings, encryption standards, channels etc. were matching but the problem keeps persisting. This has been ongoing for two days now and is driving me insane as I really need to have wi-fi working in the office. Plugging an ethernet cable straight into the router works fine but it's not the ideal solution (and is posing an OH&S hazard as it is laying on the floor). Â FYI I have run diagnostics several times & the one thing that stood out was this: Â Diagnostics Information (Wireless Connectivity)Association status: Fail 0x00038002Association reason code: 0x00000002 Result of diagnosis: Problem foundIssue referred to: RNWF MSM Helper ClassRoot cause: Windows could not connect to "ERICSSON"You can try to connect again. I have an Acer Aspire 4720Z. Since long I had been using XP. Recently it was formatted and Windows 7 was installed. But after this upgradation, the WLAN is not working. Have banged my head with drivers and all. Â Device manager is showing Microsoft Virtual Wi-Fi miniport adapter (although with XP it simply showed by the name of WLAN adapter as far as I remember). And checking it's properties it says that the device is working properly. When Intel Wi-Fi Technology is tried to get started, it says that 'A supported intel wireless network adapter not found'.
My internet frequently disconnects from my Aspire S3-951 notebook with Athros AR5BWB225 wireless adapter. The adapter is loaded with driver version 10.0.0.227. Is there a newer driver that will prevent the frequent disconnects?
At start up my Inspiron M5110 laptop will not take my password. I can' t access anything except shutdown or restart. It displays the message stated above.
There is a recurring problem where the computer ceases to recognize the existence of the wireless adapter. It doesn't matter if the computer is running 8, or 8.1, nor if the computer is fully Updated. This seems to be a hardware problem or some sort of electrical short, not a driver problem. I have done a bit of research over the last four months or so (when the problem first started happening), and the problem I am experiencing is most likely caused by either a faulty card, or a card that is loose from its socket on the motherboard, and not by a driver/hardware discrepancy. The strange part is the intermittent nature of the computer's recognition of the device. Stranger still is that despite what appears to be a hardware problem, I have usually been able to fix it, either by:  Uninstalling then reinstalling the device's drivers,Restoring the computer to a previous point,Reformatting the computer using the built in Windows 8 feature, and/or Removing certain Windows Updates in reverse chronological order (until the integrated WiFi device is recognized).  Last night, the problem happened again. It was maybe the 4th or 5th time overall, and the 2nd time I was forced to "hard reformat" in an attempt to fix the problem. Until just a few minutes ago, when I partially deconstructed then reconstructed the device, the "hard reformat" method didn't fix the WiFi. After the "hard reformat" didn't work, Upon turning the computer back on, it recognized the wireless adapter, I connected to the network successfully, and here I am now, documenting what happened.  I essentially did nothing significant to the device, and now the wireless adapter is recognized. Why?  All that being said, I believe I have narrowed down the cause of the problem, at least in my case. I believe there is some sort of electrical short issue. The short is caused by one (or perhaps both) of the following:  Assuming the physical location of the wireless adapter is next to the location of the port for the AC adapter, I think the AC adapter, when moved or jiggled by a hand, somehow negatively interferes with the wireless adapter, causing it to fail.Shutting the lid of the computer, perhaps when combined with the above, and/or under other conditions (something having to do with power settings?, something having to do with the state of the network when the lid is shut?), causes the network adapter to fail.Something very similar used to happen on an old Dell notebook I had, as well as on a CR-48, towards the end of their lives. That is, in order for the internet to work, I had to have the AC adapter at certain angle when it was plugged into the computer. Otherwise the wireless connection would drop. It seems like there's a connection there (pun intended), but perhaps not?
Looking for a Boot Disk or Start up disk for an Aspire 4720Z or a place to download one. She has been doing finals etc for the past week without it at college.
I have been able to install most all of the missing drivers after my new OS install.......
The only problem I'm having is the wireless adapter is not recognized in device manager. There is a "network controller" that has no driver. I have installed the broadcom driver from acer site, but it won't work.
When I press the wireless button, it will toggle between wlan enabled, and wlan disabled, but I can't figure it out

i have this shutdown problem. it started since i installing windows 7 into my laptop. my computer turns of itself after 10-30 seconds after an OS boot. except on safe mode option. the computer works fine on safe mode. at first, i thought that this due to software problems. then i think i should wipe out my OS and install new OS.but unfortunately, my laptop turns of itself while installing the OS!. this sound weird isnt it?
ive tried to use multiple OS to be installed. win7, vista, and even unbuntu OS also. but the turn off problem still occurs..
ive read from other post about the thermal issues, doing some patches at BIOS download from acer websites. now, im running on v1.14 for my BIOS. still. the turn off issues still occurs.
so, ive tried to look for the hardware malfunctions since trying to look at software problems cant find a clue.
after doin some reasearch and testing, ive notice that by disabling my duo processor in device manager, the computer works fine. by using single core processor now makes my laptop works fine. but surely, im running on low state now.
I have a Aspire 5520-5912 laptop I am trouble shooting for a relative that randomly shuts down just before, or shortly after it boots to windows.
I have tested the hard drive in my Desktop and scanned it for viruses, swapped out the memory, re applied thermal paste on the cpu heat sink and made sure it was not clogged with dust.
I think I have it narrowed down to a bad MB or CPU but was wandering if anyone else has had any issues like this and what the problem was.
This weekend, the laptop just shutdown without any warning! I switched it back on, and then after 30 mins, the same issue! I checked the battery, and was charging OK.
Now after the last unexpected powerdown, it has been non responsive ever since and cannot turn it back on.. I dont think its the battery, cos it was charging before it died....
I was using my Dell XPS 15z when it turned off (didn't shut down). The system made a click noise and then it was gone; it will not power on. I get no battery lights and I get nothing when pressing the power button. I verified the AC adapter is working. When I plug the AC power in the wall socket, the light comes on; however, when I connect the Ac to the laptop the power light goes out on the AC adapter. The system was not hot, no burning smells. There appears to be substantial number of XPS systems experiencing the same failure. I have tried a second AC adapter and no joy. I have read most of Dell's responses to this same issue. The fell its a motherboard failiure. Has Dell issued a recall for XPS 15Z since this is a known issue?Â
I have bought aspire one windows xp version last week. It happen today when I try to start the notebook it only can stand for about a minute and after that it shutdown automatically. I have connected it with power supply but it still happened.
I have a hp pavilion g6-1d 60 us notebook , formerly running windows 7 Home Premium 32/64 bit operating system. I'm now using Windows Ultimate 32 bit operating system.Â
I have a x201 cto using 64bits Win 7. The wireless adapter is intel advanced-N 6200. However, I found my wireless always turn off suddenly and I can not turn it on anymore (even using Fn+F5) until reboot.
a while ago (month?) i buyed my new Aspire 5315. I installed additional RAM (Kingmax SODIMM 1024MB, DDRII533, CL4, PC4300), and after that - laptop after some time (may vary between 1 - 3hs, by room temperature and running processes, and if charger is attached or not) goes hot (at the place where ram is) and shutdowns by itself.
Here will be more detailed specs. (ask if there's something missing)
Could be the voltage wrong? As i said - it's totally new laptop, i think this wouldn't be a dust problem.
at BIOS - there is no voltage settings, and it doesn't show any temp, etc. I installed SpeedFan, it shows 35° for HDD and 50° for Temp1.
I bought an ACER ultrathin S7 392 about 7 months ago and for the last month it has been shutting down unexpectedly when on battery but not when plugged into the mains. There is no shutdown routine, crash or error message it just loses all power. A second issue which may or may not be related is that sometimes when i attempt to shutdown the unit it restarts instead. I have sent it back to ACER support to fix but I think they just reinstalled windows and when they sent it back they had not fixed the problem. I have since contacted them again and they said it was fine when it left the workshop. Â Acer S7 392 Bios 2.09 Windows 8.1
I'm a high school junior with a year+ old Acer computer that has broken down twice and is now out of warranty. I purchased this computer with my own money.  My Aspire M laptop will not boot due to the 'boot configuration file being invalid', at least, this is what the 'Recovery' blue screen states. The blue screen offeres to 'Press Esc for UEFI Firmware settings, but is not responsive. I've tried F2, F8, F10, Alt+F10, F12, Space Bar, Delete and Break to try to activate the BIOS interface, all equally unsuccessful.  I followed the instructions to purchase recovery tools from Acer, but without being able to access the BIOS to set the boot order, I've just sunk another $25 into a laptop that doesn't work.
I have a problem with my dell laptop Studio 1569, i turn on my laptop and after 5 min it shutting down itself Suddenly.
when i try to turn it on again he make this voice when like check the normal voice that's mean its starting working, but after 3-5 second he get off again.
I cannot turn off my acer laptop since windows 8.1 update.. whenever i do shutdown, it simply just restart after shutting down.. i dont know how to turn off my laptop.. also sleep and hibernate seems not functioning, in a couple of seconds it awakes again..  I tried the every thing about the power management to untick something about fast startup.. still no luck  And i forced to shutdown my laptop during startup but it cause me a problem.. It wont power on.. and it seems dead but when i plug the power adapter the battery is charging but no signs of powering up(no power led, just battery led) whenever i press the power button.. i tried dispersing the static electricty but no luck.. the only option that solve my problem on not powering up is to disassemble my laptop and remove cmos battery. then i assembled it back.. it shows 1 blink of power led whenever i plug in the ac adapter without the laptop battery plugin.. and then it powers up again after i press the power button.. what a relief.. but it doesnt fix my shutdown problem..  the only thing i havent tried is BIOS update.. but im having problem right now..  i tried last year to update my BIOS after that it went wrong the black "screen of death" they call.. so i sent my laptop to service center.. and it fixed!..  I tried lately to update my BIOS but it says that i have already an updated BIOS version 2.19.. i guess this is the bios version installed by service center.. how can i apply the BIOS posted on ACER website with the latest version 2.15?  If i want to turn off my laptop, i simply close the lcd monitor to remain it in sleep mode..
I have a new aspire E1-572G that won't shutdown completely over an update to windows 8.1 ... I've Updated the Bios and downloaded the drivers from the support site.
I've done a recovery to default factory settings and tried again......no luck
I installed windows 8.1 after i installed al windows updates.
I have an Acer Aspire V3-572PG (about 4 months old), and the machine shuts down randomly when on battery power. It's happened when moving it from one place to another, or with subtle shifts on my lap, and sometimes just typing triggers a shutdown. However, it doesn't happen when plugged in. Battery has been fully charged; it's not overheating; it's not the fan; it's not dust; and I've run comprehensive anti-virus scans.  In the past, it's taken anywhere from an hour or two before it shuts down. Last night it happened simply when I unplugged the thing from the wall ... so, no moving/no touching of the computer, but shutdown when removing plug from wall!!???
I can´t enter BIOS on my notebook, I don´t know what´s the problem what to do now.  What did I do? I had Windows 7 installed and everything worked well. Then I decided to install Debian GNU/Linux instead. That worked as well, though I had some issues with wifi connection and the system did not shutdown properly. That´s why I wanted to reinstall Windows. In order to boot from DVD, i had to change the boot order, because Debian always changes its own boot priority to max - so at this point BIOS was still working! During Windows 7 setup, I formated all HDD partitions, created new ones and BAM! Windows 7 would not installt because it has some problems with GPT partitions, it said it could not install to this partition (I tried all). So I canceled the installation and restartet the system. Of course now it printed "Operating system not found". I could not even enter BIOS (allthough it showed the normal message "Press F2 ..." and the Windows 7 installation had trouble finding some drivers, so it did not even start correctly. The Acer Recovery I created from Windows 7 (before installing Debian) started, but it failed to copy the first file and ended. So nothing worked. However, I could install Debian again, which is now my OS.  Current situation: OS is Debian 7, it´s working, but I have many problems with it (cannot change display brightness, often looses wifi connection, instantly reboots (!) after shutdown) Can´t enter BIOS: I have tried F2, DEL, ESC, F10, F12 without success. Debian is again at boot priority #1, and I can´t change it without BIOS (so not able to BOOT from DVD etc) I have tried to short the G2201 contact (service manual describes how to use it to remove BIOS password), no success. Maybe it´s import that I use GRUB bootloader, which was automatically installed with Debian...
