View 1 RepliesI bought an Acer Extensa 5420-5038 today, it cames with Vista Home 32 bits english version. As I am a brazilian, i formated it and instaled Vista Ultimate 64 bits Portugues version. The problem is, after the instalation, the wireless dont work anymore.
The light that usually flickes over it doesl not turn on, and it appears as an unknown network device on my hardware manager.
I've tried Atheros and Broadcom drivers from acer site but they didnt work and it told me the driver won't be installed because the appropriate card isn't installed....
In other words, it's telling me I dn't have an Atheros/Broadcom wireless card, but with the original instalatio of Vista it WAS working perfectly.
Recently I bought new Acer Extensa 5630 with 4GB & 320 GB Hard disk.I installed Windows XP os ,on mycomputer properties, it is showing 3GB of RAM Size,I contacted the dealer who sold the laptop and he is telling 4gb is not supported for Windows XP.SO I changed the OS to VIsta home Basic stil it is showing 3GB instead of 4GB.

I have an extensa 4420. just recently moved into a home where the internet and utilities were already setup. They have a linksys wireless router. WRT54G they have a network and a password. When i enter this into my e-net management screen it doesnt work it asks me for a WEP key but i do not have the WEP key nor do the owners of the home. Is there any way possible i can enter the password to connect or set something differently?
View 4 Replies View RelatedI have an Acer extensa 5220 laptop, which suddenly decided this morning that it wont turn on any more! It was working perfectly fine, has good anti-virus, etc., and worked fine an hour before but now when it's turned on, the power button goes green and nothing else happens. It's not been dropped or banged, was not plugged into the mains at the time (but can that rule out a surge the last time it was plugged in?)There is not even a flicker on the screen, the fan doesn't come on, but I think the hard-drive hums. Does anyone have any idea what's wrong with it?
View 6 Replies View RelatedI downloaded a 800+ MB game today and was playing it even though it said my graphics card didn't match and stuff... I got a couple runtime errors and the game got shut down, but later I started ignoring the messages when I figured out that way, I can keep playing. Then I "accidentally" responded to the error message and when the game got shut down the computer stopped responding at all. I force-shut down the computer by holding down the power button. Then, after that when I try to turn on the computer the fan starts turning and green light comes up... for about 3 seconds. Then it takes a .1 sec-long break and tries again for another 3 seconds, then gives in completely. It does this when it has power, so I don't think it's the battery. It won't even show the Acer screen at the very beginning. It's a Vista, no recovery CD (do you ever get recovery CD's for Vista?). Any chance we get our notebook alive and kicking again?
View 14 Replies View Relatedi got an Extensa 4420, and after hearing everyone say vista is out, I installed XP.
Im new to PC's [been a mac user for years] and this is confusing me.
The laptop has 2 partitions - C: and D:
Vista is on C: so i installed xp on D:
It appears that i can now only access XP and cannot ever boot into vista off C: is that true?
Also, when running XP i have no internet via the ethernet cable nor the wireless card that comes with this laptop. Can someone explain what drivers i need to install to make those work?
I got the Extensa_4200 driver folder off the website, but i am clueless as to which need to be installed - as im new to PC.
Any advice is much appreciated.
I have successfully figured out the audio and video drivers but now i need the internet and wireless to work.
broadcom 802.11g network adapter is not working on extensa 4620z.
i just installed win xp pro on acer extensa 4620z which came pre-installed with linpus linux.
all is well except that the broadcom wireless g adapter is not working. in device manager, it says "Windows cannot load drivers for this hardware. the driver may be corrupted or missing.(code 39).
i tried downloading the driver from acer europe site and installed again but it still has the same problem. the driver on the cd which came with the laptop and the one which i downloaded from acer site is the same.
are there any other drivers or any other program which needs to be installed for this?
I just installed XP Pro on my Acer Extensa 4630Z and I installed all the drivers successfully but the wireless driver. I tried all the drivers from acer's support site [url] none of them work. I also tried what worked for Davoucci with same laptop but this driver also doesn't work for me
View 10 Replies View RelatedFor a while now the wireless connection on my laptop has been very unstable. I had used it for about six months without experiencing problems, but a month or two ago I started getting very frustated with it.
The wireless can be turned on just fine and has no trouble finding available networks. No problem here. But when I try to connect to one it rarely works, and the few times were it does connect, the internet is incredibly slow. I would say it works flawlessly and fast about 10% of the time. The rest of the time it's like I just explained; it either won't connect or is too slow.
I don't know what suddenly caused this, since it worked perfectly when I bought it. Updating the wireless card drivers didn't work.
I'm really trying to like my new Acer 1410. Everything was working great until I tried to connect thru the wifi. Turned out the connection was really weak. This is in my house where all my other laptops have had no problem connecting.
So I try for a couple of hours trying every setting possible on my router and on my laptop settings. Finally, I open up the bottom of my laptop and find out the black wire that goes to the Intel Wireless card isn't even connected! In fact the metal connector itself is missing entirely
So me not knowing much about electronics, I cut off a 2 inch wire (with connector) from my old laptop's wireless card and taped it to the new laptop's open black wire. Plug it in and now the signal is better, but it still sucks. Any advice anyone? I really would rather fix it myself if I can. Would it work better if I solder the two wires together? Or is the Intel 5100 a POS and nothing is going to help it?
I have an acer aspire e1-571 g and since last week ,my internet connection (broadband or wireless ,no matter wich i use) drops randomly ..and i can't reconnect untill i restart my laptop..i've tried to change MAC,drop ip,reinstal windows, reinstal drivers of ethernet and wireless,no result.. I'm starting to think that my motherboard is faulty..??
View 5 Replies View RelatedI bought my Acer Aspire E1-57G 2 months ago. U put win7 64bit on him and installed som drivers. All worked fine for some time. 1 week ago my internet slowed down randomly, and only on this notebook.
I googeld a little bit and i decided to go for win 8.1 and original drivers. I installed everything but the problem with WLAN adapter was still there. If i started loading a web page sometimes it loads completely with no problems and everything is fine for some time (5 min) then pages start to loading slow or not at all. And like that all the time.
When I download something it ether downloads "fast" like 500 - 800 kbps or not at all 0kbps. On other notebooks wireless connection is ok, and at the same time when thisone is slow others do well. Win update is not slowing connection (OFF), firewall is ok, power management set to be max for wlan adapter. I tried every solution that i found on the internet.
So what is the problem (is it WLAN adapter) and how to fix it?
I bought my laptop like 1 month ago, and after update windows 8.1 Browinsg started extra slow, playing games with highest ping, While playing games i can see enemies but i cant do anything to them,After while when i opened my laptop i got black screen nothing was on only the power light were on. View 8 Replies View RelatedI think something similar has been posted here before. In essence, I find that when I use my VX Revolution (or is it MX? Whichever one is the mobile version), the mouse occasionally loses its wireless connection to the computer, and so I have to click multiple times to get it to register.
This is annoying enough for me to consider getting a wired mouse, but I want to know if I get something like an MX518 if I'm still going to run into the disconnect/lag issue.
In other words, is it a wireless issue or a Logitech/PC/Mac conflict issue? I experienced both with and without the Logitech software installed. The software is currently installed.
I'm having major problems with connecting to the wireless network in the office. It sees the network, allows me to enter the security credentials, then connects (with confimed internet connectivity) but drops out after 10-20 seconds. I have tried the wireless network at a friend's house which worked ok without any interruptions, so it is definitely nothing wrong with the hardware. I'm using a brand new Acer Aspire V3-572-56T3 on Windows 8.1, with all the latest drivers/patches loaded and have tried fiddling with many of the advanced settings for the network adapter to no avail. I logged on to the router to ensure all settings, encryption standards, channels etc. were matching but the problem keeps persisting. This has been ongoing for two days now and is driving me insane as I really need to have wi-fi working in the office. Plugging an ethernet cable straight into the router works fine but it's not the ideal solution (and is posing an OH&S hazard as it is laying on the floor).
FYI I have run diagnostics several times & the one thing that stood out was this:

I have a x201 cto using 64bits Win 7. The wireless adapter is intel advanced-N 6200. However, I found my wireless always turn off suddenly and I can not turn it on anymore (even using Fn+F5) until reboot.

I can disconnect the wireless by pressing Fn+F3 but I never see a "Launch Manager". The problem is when I turn off the computer and turn it back on, it defaults to connect wirelessly. I went to Manage Wireless Networks in Control Panel and selected Manually Connect to my home Network. That did not work. How can I stop it from connecting automatically wirelessly?

View 2 Replies View RelatedI have also tried disconnecting from network and turning off wifi from the signal strength icon as well prior to shutdown. When the adapter stays open when I return to the laptop and connect again it shows that i have been connected via the adapter for days at a time. This eventually leads to the connection being clogged up and causing timeouts preventing me from connecting to the net. I stopped ittwice but dont know what I did.
View 6 Replies View RelatedI am using an HP Envy dv7-7250us laptop, running windows 8.1. All my software is up to date. In the last month, every time i turn on the laptop, the internet connection drops. Running HP troubleshooter resets the wifi adaptor.
I have Intel Centrino Wireless-N 2230 installed. I went out to Intel's website and have the most current driver.
Does anyone else have a low wireless connection speed with their dell latitude e6400? I have full signal strength and yet the speed is only 5.5 mbps.
All the other computers/laptops in the house that uses the wireless gets 54 mbps while my latitude gets 5.5 and sometimes it will go up to 9 and down to 6 or 2 and it's just not constant.
Does anyone know how to fix this?
Just got my shiny new XPS13 trying to connect to my network and I think I may have dropped a clanger in the order.
My Router is a from SKY, Netgear DG934G g and b only, I read that the 1515 card is backward compatible to support these. I am using WPA, my lappy sees the network but the router won't see the lappy any idea?
My new Sony VAIO SR 390 arrived yesterday. When I turn on the computer, restart, awake from sleep, etc, I have to manually disconnect and reconnect to my wireless network. If I don't, I have the little yellow triangle in the tray saying "unidentified network" and the internet doesn't work.
I have turned the wireless switch on and off, disabled and enabled the connection, updated the driver, and changed the power settings in the device manager. All of this has not helped.
Other than that, I have had no problems and I'm very happy with the computer. I haven't noticed the battery drain issue either.
problem i have with my lcd screen.P01-10-09_14.18.jpg
As you can see the screen is completely white, its hard to tell by the picture but the edges off the screen are fading to black and there is lots of little lines running horizontally as well.
Now when i plug an external screen the picture comes up on the external and the computer works fine, just seems that the laptop screen is playing up for some reason.
Also when i turn the laptop off for an hour or so the screen suddenly comes back to life, sometimes for days and sometime for only a couple of hours.
I have the 1505 with XP and the Intel wireless card....lately my connection blows!!
I don't know if it's because there are 3 of us on the wireless?
We have a linksys wireless router and I changed the channel to 11 just in case the neighbors (duplex) were on the same channel causing interference.
But still it will go very slowly sometimes the router is upstairs (desktop is up there) and i'm in a downstairs bedroom....it says I have a Low connection.
I called the cable company thinking it had something to do with that and it wasn't.
Is there anything I can do on my part to make it stronger possibly a program or refreshing an IP or messing with router settings?
