I have an acer extensa 5630,can i do a factory restore?as i dont have the original disc.
I have these specs on my laptop-
Windows Vista Home Premium, Service pack 2
Acer Extensa 5630.
Pentium (R) Dual Core CPU.T4200 @2.00 GHZ 2.00 GHZ
2GB RAM
32-BIT
I have been looking all over the internet and on Dell for the past 2 hours with no luck. I have a Dell Inspiron E1505. I want to wipe everything off this laptop except what was on it when I purchased it. I keep reading hit F12 or control F11 and then click Restore. There is no Restore anywhere. I have searched and searched and I can't find anything. I have found that a lot of other people don't have that option either.

View 4 Replies View Relatedmy Acer Extensa 4420. A few days ago while on my laptop the BSOD suddenly popped up and my laptop shut down. A restarted it and while it did log in, I got notices saying a lot of stuff was corrupt. I ran chkdsk to see if i could diagnose the issue, and it stated the system volume was corrupt. As time went by using windows became erratic. I decided to try to restore my acer back to factory settings using the eRecovery program. This program would stop working every time right before the process began. Eventually windows stopped booting up at all. leaving my at a boot screen the endlessly looped. I installed Ubuntu shortly after, and managed to get my PQSERVICE partition recognized by the GRUB bootloader and Ubuntu itself (as a mounted drive). The problem is that whenever I do boot to the PQSERVICE partition and look through the options in the recovery center, there is no restore to factory default settings.

ACER Travelmate 2420 fails to see operating system and will not restore from disc.
My Acer Travelmate 2420 now fails to see the operating system. When I use the restore DVD that I had made it boots up and after a while the recovery runs. I hit a problem when the machine asks for disc 2 to continue the recovery. Only one disc was ever made during the back up session.
A few facts.
Before the OS failed Acer Recovery and other Acer Programs had started to not function.
The C: and D: drives where NTFS Formatted.
I have even considered cleaning the hard drive altogether and installing a new OS. The problem here is that I can't get into DOS Mode.
I am planning to restore my laptop to its factory default because of some problems like the "Windows Update" window is all grayed out. I tried finding solutions in the net but it doesn't solve the problem so maybe system restore may do it but inst going to remove all the programs, like MS Office? Are the files saved in drive D also be removed? My laptop has MS Office already when my mother bought it. I have Acer Aspire 5730z.

Now it stuck at "Process 1/2","Install eRecovery solution", "Please wait"

About a week ago, some serious problems happened to my TravelMate 3280 to the point that booting in safe mode doesn't even work. I couldn't access the eRecovery Management either and didn't any recovery DVD.
So finally, I reinstalled windows XP SP3 from scratch. As a result, the computer didn't have Acer eRecovery Management installed. I still prefer the original factory settings though. So I browsed around online forums and found a thread by Pupples at Install Factory default, eRecovery
I did what Pupples suggested, managed to restore the alt+F10 function, and entered the Acer Recovery Management during start-up. Then, I chose the Restore Factory Settings option.
The restoration process began smoothly until about 50-60% progress when an error message occured. It says:
Fails in creating or opening a file
C:preload.tag
D:preload.tag
X:preload.tag
After those messages, the computer booted again from the beginning and then entered a black screen with a writing on the top of the screen. The writing:
NTLDR is missing. Press any key to continue.
I pressed any key, but the same NTLDR message kept on re-appearing.
Does this have anything to do with the FAT32 or NTFSthing?

It keeps telling me to insert a 16 gb usb. I don't have a free USB to use and I would prefer to put it on disks like I have done for every other computer I have owned.
