I've got an e6400 and the internet is PAINFULLY slow. This started a little while ago on any WiFi network I use. I changed the drivers and recently upgraded to 7 so I have no clue what it is. Downloading a driver from Dell was downloading at 3.7 kb/sec. It is insane. A computer right next to me is fine.

I have a Dell XPS 1530 and at school, my computer connects to the wireless internet fine and has normal speed as if it were connected to an ethernet cord, but at home,
it connects but is extremely slow. There are other laptops that connect to the router and they have fast speeds. My computer has vista home premium, 4 gb, intel core 2 duo cpu, t8300 @ 2.40 ghz.
I upgraded the operating system on my HP Envy dv-7-7240 laptop today from Windows 8 to 8.1 (64 bit), which included Explorer 11. It went pretty much as planned and everything was working fine except my web speeds slowed down to a crawl. I disabled all the add-ons, and reset explorer, but that didn't work.
Note: I was experiencing slow internet (I'm on cable by the way) and a couple of other issues that I couldn't get resolved, the main reason I upgraded to 8.1. It resolved all of the problems except for the slow internet.
I'd really prefer to just get what I paid for: functional BT 4.0 and unhindered WiFi both at the same time. Acer's own literature says it can do that, so I expect that as part of my purchase.

So I looked at the wireless network icon on the bottom right corner which showed full bars. A few seconds later a yellow colored triangle with exclamation mark appeared on the network icon showing no internet and limited internet.
After turning the wifi off and back on the internet connects and works for few hours. After few hours, it lost internet connectivity again with the same above symptoms. I have this laptop now for 3 days and in past 3 days I had this problem at least 25 times.
Taskbar icon for Gigabit Network Connection shows "No Internet Access". But Internet access works fine. But, since the driver thinks there is no access, I have to disable WiFi to force the laptop to use the wired LAN. Device Manager says everyhting works fine. Driver update says I have the latest driver (12.10.29.0 dated 2014-05-02). My T430 with the same adapter works fine. What do I do? Only difference between T530 and T430 is the T530 is in a dock.

why is my brand new xps 16 slow as hell ? It is slower than my four year old pentium desktop.
i scanned and there are no viruses, spyware, etc.
-opening programs take forever
-i cant listen to music while browsing the internet or the songs will skip every 2 seconds
-web videos skip and are basically unwatchable
-as i am typing this, no letters are coming up...i have to wait about a minute for the text to load to see if i misspelled anything.
-i hear a clicking sound from the hdd every so often
-i have the basic windows theme(no aero)
-startup programs have been cut down to just the basics
I just bought a Dell 1710 laptop with a wireless card but no internal modem. I have an old desktop that connects to the internet by dial-up.
(This is the only option for me right now because I live in the boonies!) I want to be able to connect to the internet with my laptop and be able to move around the house.
Do I need a modem & router? I can't seem to find a router with a built-in modem. How do I connect it all? Desktop>>>>>router>>>>modem>>>laptop?
So just moved and went to setup my office again and everything works fine except my M1530 cant connect over wifi. I have Roudrunner, a Linksys WRT55AG, Vista Desktop, M1530 laptop, HP laptop, and iphone. Everything except my M1530 can access the internet.
It says that I am connected to my wirless network but not the internet. I can access the internet when my laptop is directly plugged in via lan cable to router but whenever I disconnect the lan cable and try to go online over the wireless I cant! Under device manager everything looks fine except "isatap" it says there is an error code 31.

He is in the hospital at the moment, and I'm wondering what kind of card/fob etc., if anything, is available to allow him to have wireless access (like 3G) to internet?
The hospital doesn't have any wireless available, nor do there appear to be any 'hotspots' accessable from the hospital, so looking for what I'd need to access a local internet service etc?
I have an Inspiron 1300 laptop. I had to re-install the OS because of problems. It was not a dell version of XP, just a generic. Now I have no way to get to the internet. All the sites I went to want me to download software to survey the laptop and then download needed drivers. How do I get drivers to download on another pc so I can move them and install on the laptop???
View 1 Replies View RelatedI just bought a new Dell XPS 14 a couple weeks ago and I just started noticing that whenever I am browsing something on the internet (I use Google Chrome), it randomly freezes. I do not know if it has anything to do with me using the track pad two-finger scrolling, or if it is a software problem. It is a really nice laptop and I am upset that it keeps freezing. The freezing happens only after about 30-45 minutes of using the computer after it is asleep. Just before it freezes, everything is completely normal, no heat, no loud fan, nothing! But right when it freezes, I try to do the ctrl+alt+delete/ task manager and nothing. The whole system froze. I even tried to see if I can dim the keyboard, but it did not work. Usually I have to press and hold the power button to shut it off and then I turn it back on.

About 4 months ago, my WI-FI internet connection became very slow - I mean slower than dial-up, on 10Mb/sec broadband connections. It takes 30 secs to bring back a Google search for goodness sake! It had been working fine for 18 months, and it just suddenly ground to a virtual halt, and has been such ever since.
I've tried it in several different offices and homes where it was previously fine, and it's the same everywhere. The LAN connection still works fine..
i just recived my dell studio 15 and noticed when i log in it takes a long time, in msconfig startup i have only the dell dock, audio and video.
when i put my password it says welcome for about 1 minute and takes another 3 minutes until everything is smooth.
Does anyone else notice windows 7 64 bit being really slow?
I can't even listen to music and go on the internet at the same time or my 1640 will slow down so much that i have to reboot. The CPU is at 100% nearly all the time no matter what.
I think I got a bad one of the bunch. I already had to replace the power cord and the hdd.
The E6500 I'm using has the P9500 (2.53 ghz, 6mb cache), Nvidia 160M, 2gb RAM, and 80gb 7200RPM HD. When I try to play a 1080P trailer from Apple's site, the thing doesn't seem like it can handle it. It's not smooth at all. I let it DL all the way too, so it's not a buffering issue or anything.
I was planning to use this on a 1920x1200 display, but if it can't even play the 1080p trailer properly...

it stalls, you can't even switch between tabs in Internet Explorer 7 or Mozilla, Scrolling was very slow and glitchy. I stopped using it because
I was tired of Dell's useless CS i.e spending an hour on chat without any useful info, they replaced the HDD with a refurbished sandisk 5000 that was slightly better than the original but still too slow to use.
A couple of month ago, I asked them to send a regular hdd so I can see the difference, they sent me a refurbished 80GB that worked a lot better than the other two but started clicking a week or two afterward.
It's been some time since I've sought assistance here, and I've returned now that my mother has purchased for herself a Dell Inspiron 1564. Being a typical technology-impaired elder, she asked me to set up her system for her. Specifically, she wants me to connect her to our internet. However, I can't for the life of me figure this out.
My router is set on WPA security, but I was able to connect to it without a problem when I purchased my current system - input a password and go. When I try to connect it on her system, it bypasses the password prompt and simply states that it cannot connect. As I try to figure out the problem, I am met with several warnings along the lines of "connect a cable" or "connect a network adapter."

I have a Latitude 2100. All of the sudden I cannot log into the internet. It says that I'm connected to the wireless connection. I've tried everything to access the internet, but nothing has worked. Maybe some other route to go to get the internet connection back.
View 6 Replies View RelatedI have a Dell Inspiron N7010 running Windows 7 a friend did a clean install on my computer after my game a and dell factory restore along with a some other issues continued to give out error message. In doing so he completly wiped the driver software out. So now I can't connect to the internet and my aero transparnce isn't working either. I checked the device manager and under Other Devices were 3 drives a PCI controlle(i belivie) network adaptor and ethernet adopter. I'm not what driver software i should install in order to get it back working or at least the internet back up.

View 4 Replies View RelatedLast week I purchased a dell laptop on line and received it one day after the shipping notification. That's the good news. During the setup process everything went well except the wireless connection. The laptop was connecting to the router intermittantly and now will not connect at all. I have checked every setting I know of and talked with my internet provider last night to see if they may be the problem. All the people I have talked with tell me that the problem is most likely the Intel Centrion wireless-N 1030 card and site issues documented on other sites.
My attempt to get information from dell on Sunday evening was a nitemare and so I sent an email via customer service but have not yet received a reply. Here is my gripe. This is a new laptop and I should not have to find a fix for this problem. Also, I am computer literate to a point and don't feel I should have to spend my whole weekend "trying" to get a wireless connection on a new machine. It usually takes seconds. I am trying this forum to see if I can get some answers but honestly I will probably return the laptop that is if I can find the spot on the dell website that will let me request that.

My SXPS has the Intel 5300 card, which I've read has problems such as dropouts and slow speeds. I'm also running Vista 64-bit, which I'm assuming could also be part of the problem. Web pages take way too long to load, but my download and upload speeds are the same as they would be if I plugged directly into my router. Has anyone else experienced slow browsing with their SXPS 16? I'd love it if someone could give me a solution to this.

It stops 80% of the way and then freezes then the dvd drive makes a noise and loads up. Like i dont know why it is slow to startup. What factors are causing this? Computer works fine.
its just the Startup dell bios screen that takes forever. I tried to go back with the A08 and A09 but all it did was make slower.
Today, after I started up my 9300, I noticed that things were running very slow, and my CPU temp was low, too. I8kfan is showing the processor running at exactly 800Mhz. It's a 780, 2.26 Ghz processor
