My friend is very cheap and will not get a new computer. He has a dell lat. D520. I wiped everything and installed all the drivers from the dell website for the laptop.
Everything works great until you have to type or move the trackpad. It tends to jump around or insert other letters then the one chosen. But a usb external keyboard works fine!
I called dell and said that he doesnt have any warranty and said maybe the buttons were stuck? Should he order a new keyboard for 50 bucks?
how many different types of screen inverter there are for the dell latitude d520(15") as ive tried 2 different ones without success and i know the only fault is the inverter.
When I'm using the laptop to write documents... or emails my hands brush over the touch pad and the slip act of swiping the neatly organized lines of text becomes jumbled gibberish
How do I disable the touch pad when using an external mouse?
I recently formatted my Dell Latitude D520 laptop because of a frequent shutdown problem.
Also at the same time I have updated my BIOS setup file.
But now whenever i restart laptop, at the start up the DELL logo appears and also the windows logo and other messages appears in very small window rather than full screen size, till the machine gets fully loaded. Once the windows is loaded , it works well with full screen mode.
However, if i run any Command Prompt application, the screen get shrinks to small size, the same size which appears when the machine is booting.
On investigation, I found that
a) At every startup in BIOS setup Video/LCD Panel expansion is getting turned off and I have to manually enabled it at every startup
b) If i run any video/audio file the latptop instantly get turned off and may or may not restart for several days. Once it get turned off, it simply start getting turned off at every startup.
I have installed the drivers from the site, but problem persists.
Does it happens because I updated latest BIOS version? Shall i get old BIOS file from dell site?
It is probably a little to early to ask, but does anyone know if the Backlit Keyboard and Trackpad from the Studio XPS can swap into the regular XPS M series?
Even if the backlighting didn't work, my main gripe is the silver keyboard, which is difficult to read under airplane lighting. Black keyboard with white fonts are much better.
My keyboard and trackpad on my Compaq Presario CQ60 notebook are not responding and don't have any external devices to see whether this is an internal matter. Cannot restart in Safe Mode as keyboard does not respond, however it allows me to type in my password to access vista! I think I have just locked the computer, but don't know how to unlock it, various forums have specified reinstalling drivers etc. but I am unable to do this with no working keyboard and do not know how whether I have pressed a combination of keys which have caused this. I am not sure whether this is a Vista problem or a Compaq/HP problem.
I have tried many times and with many methods to fix the pixels, but I am only able to fix it one-by-one, pixel-by-pixel. Is there any way around this? (and BTW its my assigned school computer and is out of warranty)
I would like to upgrade my CPU. I have the base Celeron M 430 @ 1.73 GHz. What other CPU's would just drop right in?
I guess i have the 945GM Family.. (Can accept 4GB Ram)
Also if you have one, for sale that will fit, send me a PM.. Will post a WTB thread once i know what i wtb. lol. I am looking to upgrade to one of the available Intel Core Duo chips..
Would the T2300E @ 1.66GHz or T2400 @ 1.83GHz CPU drop right in to this current system?
If this is correct, then any T2300E @ 1.66GHz or T2400 @ 1.83GHz CPU would work, and compputer brand does not matter, all i am looking for is, T2300E @ 1.66GHz or T2400 @ 1.83GHz CPU. Correct?
I was just thinking, I only have 1 GB right now. How much do you think of a performance increase would i have if i upgraded to 4GB's. To max it out. Ram is now very cheap.. -
Last time i bought ram, it was $125 for a 512 Chip for the Dell Dimension 2350...
Also, does windows XP read 3.5 or 4 GB? I for some odd reason, i think i remember reading 3.5 Gb would only be used if you installed 4GB in to a Win XP 32 system. http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/libr...its_windows_xp
So the power jack on my D520 seems to have broke.. It still works, but the center of the plug is missing, and the cord pulls out very easy... What would i need to do to replace it? Looking at ebay, i can find it for a few $, http://cgi.ebay.com/DC-Power-Jack-De...item45e96642b7
Does this require soldering? Seems like a cheap design or something.
Well, i took my D520 apart to give it a clean... And then it hit me to add a dust filter on the fan so it does not get dusty.
I had a OEM speaker out of my Taurus, and that has this very thin cloth like material covering the speaker for what ever reason
might just look nicer then seeing the speaker) I cut a little square out, and then placed it under the fan. The fan holds the filter nicely, and it does not take away from the cooling
I couldn't remove the keyboard so I turned it upside down and put aside. So from my search in Google I found that I must leave it like that about few days untill everything is completely dry.
I also panicked a bit and it took me about a minute to remove the charger and about few minutes to remove the battery.
My questions are:
1.The laptop turned off - does it mean that it was short circuit or it could be some defence mechanism .....
My keyboard has intermittently been working for some time. When it works, then everything works as it should, when it does not work, the keyboard is still lit up and the mouse joystick still works, but no keys work. To get the keyboard to work again I have to reboot and shutdown many times and eventually it will work again. It only stops working after shutting down or rebooting. To me it appears to be an issue with detecting at boot up. It seems it could be either an issue with the motherboard, or the keyboard so was or to get some opinions on how to narrow it down to one or the other. I should also add, that when it does not work, you can not access the bios, or anything prior to the operating system loading, so I am 100% sure its not an OS issue. I also dual boot this laptop and the keyboard does not work in either. I can plug in a usb and that works fine.
Original Win 8 Pro, then updated to 8.1 Pro, the back lit keyboard works OK. However since I refreshed the system due to the hangs up problem at start up, the back lit key board stops working. Re-updated the OS back to 8.1 Pro again still not solve the issue.Does the backlit key board need special driver ? The device manager shows the keyboard as standard PS2
I tried upgrading my Latitude's RAM using a 2MB chip first in the rear slot, and Win 7 didn't read any additional RAM (showing only 1GB). So I moved the 2MB chip to the MB under the keyboard and now it won't reboot. I tried to put the original RAM chips back in their respective slots (each 1MB RAM) but it still won't boot.
My keyboardd generates double letters (I'm leaving them in as I type to show what II mean). I've searched this forum for similar probleems and have already done the following:
Updated BIOS Installed/uupdated toouchpad ddriver and input ddriver Installed touchfreeeze Unchecked the keyboard driver in device manager andd restarted the computer
I've had my laptop since 2011. Whenever I would press the number 7 key it would repeat endlessly. Also, now when I press a key in the row beneath the numbers row, the 7 repeats itself all across my screen. What could be the problem. Is there a way for me to adjust this problem?
I was recently given a Latitude E6530 and I wish to upgrade the standard keyboard to a backlit one after coming from a MacBook Air. I was wondering, does E6530 (or it's similar models) requires an additional cable to power the backlight or does it just feed off the single cable? I've scoured YouTube and Google to try find out if an extra cable is required for this model however wasn't able to.
I just picked up a e4200 with backlit keyboard and whenever the back light is turned on there is a noise (slight buzzing or hum) that can be heard. As soon as the back light turns off the sound goes away. It's kind of bugging me because you wouldn't think that the back light would add to the decibel level of the laptop..
I just found that my E6530 keyboard bends a little in the left upper corner. When i push a little bit harder the A or S or D key, the keys around move a little bit.
how I can activate the keyboard backlit light. Was part of my build. Tried Fn + right arrow and cntl + right arrow, but no change. I have latitude E5530 win 8.
We have a Latitude E6330 that was brought over from Japan running Windows 7 Professional.
The new user wanted teh default language to be English but still be able to use the Japanese characters on the keyboard as needed and so a copy of Windows 7 ultimate was installed on it. This achieved the goal of changing the primary language to English, but due to the fact that this was a US version of Ultimate and the original OS was Japanese, it did not due an upgrade but instead did a new install.
A side effect of this is now several Japanese keys are not recognized by the computer. Is there a driver or something that i will need to install for those keys to be mapped properly? I thought Windows would automatically recognize the Japanese keyboard.
We have a problem of keyboard with many Dell Latitude e3540 . Some keys randomly stop responding . We have updated the firmware to version A08 but unable to fix it. Also reinstall the driver keyboard controller with the same result .
The only thing that can solve the problem was momentarily disconnecting and reconnecting the keyboard . Likewise, the problem usually returns . The local support Dell keyboards we changed several times but the problem persisted.
