I'm trying to figure out why the sound crackles every so often in Vista with this laptop. Using the latest sound-card drivers (January 2007) from Dell. It doesn't happen all the time, and tends to do it most when there's hard drive activity.

1. Do you experience sound crackling? If so, what Wifi card do you have? I have the Intel Wifi 5100 card, which does occassionally cause some crackling.
2. The headphone jack has some line noise which is present all the time. Do you have this as well?
I am in desperation currently with this problem. Let me explain my setup first.
I have the Dell E1505, 2gb ram, ATI X1400 mobility, 1.66ghz duocore processor, about 2 years old.
I recently got fed up with the onboard sound as I have taken a hobby up in purchasing high fidelity headphones.
This led me to get a M-Audio Fast Track Pro which is an external sound card with a separate headphone amplifier.
I basically used this sound card as my sound card as opposed to the sigmatel audio that's in the computer.
Everything was great but i found out that everytime that I did anything graphics related on my computer (blow up an image, scroll down a webpage, minimize a window, etc) that there would be a crackle/static that comes from the sound.
It got reallllly annoying so I tried finding a solution but really could not.
like in several threads mentioned installing not the DELL-WLAn drivers but the broadcom Mini-1510 (http://ftp.us.dell.com/network/R212337.EXE) reduces the latency/crackling sound problem.
This worked also on my E6500, so I'm very happy.
I also tried to change hd from IRRT to AHCI, disabling DELL WLAn 802.11a, installing Matirx driver 8.2 or 8.8 and so on.
I am having dell inspiron N4010 for past 2 years now suddenly there s some crackling sound while closing the lid.i cant find any dust or anything in that area.
View 4 Replies View RelatedFew days ago my laptop has this problem, whenever i use battery, meaning im not charging my laptop ..the speaker give crackling sound ..and i have to change sound format from 192000Hz to 96000Hz ..thats only work in balance mode and high performance, but when in power saver ..i have to change to 48000Hz ..it also happen when charging my laptop ...so what is the problem ? i rarely use my laptop speaker because i have external speaker ..but this is the first time it happen ...last week laptop speaker work perfectly ..why now?

I recently received this acer laptop as a gift. Right from the first time I started it I noticed issues with the sound. With any audio that played there were crackling noises.The crackling got worse and worse so I Decided to restart the laptop and then the sound stopped working altogether.I tried reinstalling the Realtek HD audio drivers that came with the laptop but that didn't work and I still got a "No Audio Output Device is Installed" message in the bottom corner.
I tried reinstalling the drivers AGAIN, and the sound worked. All seemed well until I woke up the next day with no sound yet again.I then tried downloading new drivers from the realtek website, even these drivers didn't work. The only solution to the problem seemed to be basically uninstalling and reinstalling the realtek drivers until they worked, and even then, the sound would still crackle horrendously.After getting fed up with this issue I tried to refresh windows, and even this didn't work.I have tried everything I can think of .....

I just installed vista ultimate again and my system keeps recognizing an uncknown device...
I have removed the device manually but now I have some problems wth my audio...

I just bought my first Dell laptop, an XPS M1710, 7600G, 7650 GTX, 4 GB RAM.
I am about to set it up, but before I personalize, I just wondered whether anyone has any good tips. I am going to use Vista Ultimate.
Should I format/reinstall since it comes with a lot of unnecessary software?
Any starter tips for Vista? I hear you can change initial settings to improve performance greatly. Is this exaggerated?
Should I overclock the CPU? If so, what speed is recommended, and are there detailed instructions anywhere on the site?
i've seen online where some drivers may cause problems with the installation and use of vista sp1(32bit)

my m1710 has the 7950gtx, bluetooth, and creative sound package which i hope doesn't cause any issues.
My m1710 is still very new, and has some performance issues doing the simple standard desktop stuff. I have never had these issues on any other computer and they can be very annoying. The first is that firefox takes about a minuet to open, and that can be very frustrating. The second is that windows media player takes 10-15 seconds to switch songs. There are a lot of similar issues relating to slow performance on the desktop, but when it gets to games, game performance is just as it should be. All of these issues are consistent, and I'm wondering if vista isnt prefetching correctly? I have already formated and installed just the stuff I need.

"speakers" are selected under sound properties, when i play something i see the sound bar moving but i'm getting no sound. mute is off, not sure what's going on.

My laptop is a 5620z or 5620-4025 with a Hitachi HTS542512K9SA00 ATA Device. When I looked up this HD, it appears to be the standard SATA HD, or is it?
The original setup under VISTA, had ATA Channel 0 (twice) and ATA Channel 1 (twice) instead of the above Primary and Secondary IDE Channels.
The files to be used are in the requested C:Drive, yet I am reluctant to pull the trigger because I am not sure that I should nor am I sure which one of the above is the driver that is to be changed if when I make the change.
NO SOUND
One other thing has be going in circles regarding sound with the Realtek software. The Manager in the 3D Audio Demo works fine………….but……..the MultiMedia, which is most important, indicates that there is NO Audio Device.

View 4 Replies View RelatedLast night I let my younger sister use my m1530. She says she didn't spill on it or anything but today when I went to use it, some of the keys, mainly the asdf keys are crackling when I type and sometimes I can't even push down the s key.
I was going to take the keyboard out to see if I could clean it but after taking out the screws from where the battery sits, I can't manage to take off the control cover.
My adapter crackles only whne connected to my SXPS, it's weird. I made it stop a while ago by disconnecting an dnow it's back. Anybody else? Should I ask Dell for replacement?
View 6 Replies View RelatedI have inspiron 9300 and when I play mp3's on the laptop it makes a crackling and poping noise every 1-3 seconds, when it does this it pauses the song about 1/2-1 seconds each time it makes this noise. It also does this when I play my ripped dvd's on the harddrive and playing video games, it pauses the movies and games 1/2-1 seconds seconds during the crackling and popping noises. I can temporarily fix this sometimes when I take the harddrive out for about 8-9 hrs and put back in again, but after I reboot or turn it off and turn it on again the crackling and popping noises come back. When I play dvd's or cd music in the optical drive this doesnt happen. What can I do to fix this?
View 3 Replies View Relatedi noticed a slight crackling noise coming from the adapter. It sounded like an electrical problem within the power brick itself but i'm not an electrician. So I immediately called dell and told them the situation. They had me go through a series of restarts, shutdowns, and even updated my bios for me, but still no solution. Fortunately dell will be shipping me a replacement adapter and power cord.
View 10 Replies View RelatedAlong with other people I have a constant hiss/noise whenever I plug in my headphones, even when not playing music or any audio. I'd like to know whether it is a specific problem of which only my Studio suffers or if this is a problem which occurs to every Studio.
To be clear: I'm not talking about the infamous crackling audio problem.
I have the system listed in my signature running Windows 7 Ultimate and I am having the worst time with pops and crackles sporadically throughout songs during playback. I originally thought it might have been iTunes so I have tried a few other programs with the same results. It almost seems as though it cracks every time my computer has to "think".

I have tried most if not all these solutions and none have worked for me. I still have 1 skip every minute or 2 and cannot listen to a single mp3 without it at least having a single skip somewhere in it.
Solution to the crackling noise from the speakers.
Right click on the ‘speaker / headphones tab (located in your tray)
Select sound
Box Opens.
Click on playback tab
Right click on the speaker / headphones
Properties
Box Opens.
Advance
Default format needs to be changed to 24bit 192000hz studio quality.
Done problem solved blast your tunes all day long without that annoying sound.
I bought a Vostro 3445 laptop just 3 months ago. It is a quad core APU A6 processor with 4GB ram and integrated radeon graphics. The laptop worked fine for a couple of months but from the last 15 days I am experiencing an issue with Audio and Video upon continuous usage of the laptop for about 2 or 3 hours. The speakers start producing crackling sound and video starts lagging as well.
The problem goes away once I restart my computer but it resurfaces again in 3 hours.
