Feb 10, 2013Is there a way to quickly turn on and off the touchpad. I want to leave the mouse dongle in and be able to use the touchpad.

Dell :: Studio 1569 ( Studio S15z-2249CPN) Best Buy Blue Label CNET Review
Mar 28, 2010What I found quite interesting in the cnet review is that their performance testing of the Dell 1569 was second place just behind the Toshiba E205-S1904 (the other Best Buy Blue Label). I do not understand why, the specs are basically the exact same specs, EXCEPT our Dell has a 500gb 7,200rpm hard drive while the Toshiba has a 500gb 5,400 rpm hard drive. I would think, if anything our performance would be slightly better than the Toshiba because of our 7,200rpm hard drive. All the other specs are the same.
So, with that being said, why did the Toshiba have slightly better performance numbers than ours, since as I keep stating all the specs are the same except we have a faster hard drive?

Jan 5, 2010I just came back from Best Buy and saw the new Dell Studio 15z (1569) with the Intel Core i5! It's less than 1" thick! Slot load DVD, HDMI, displayport, 3 USB, SD Reader, and matte lid! This one was brown. The best part is the battery! It is no longer in the back like the current dell studio 15/17. It is now flat and thin like the HP Envy's!! It's now underneath the laptop!
Sorry I couldn't take pictures but they just put it out and had a HAND WRITTEN price tag with info! It has the Intel Core i5 420 I think. You really have to see how THIN and SMALL the laptop is! I hope they make a 14"!

Dec 18, 2011I bought a E520. I am not liking the touchpad on this thing. It hangs up and does not respond a lot of times.
The biggest thing that irks me is that my screen will zoom in and out when I run my finger along the touchpad or when tapping it. I know you can use the "pinch" with two fingers to zoom in and out but mine will zoom with just a tap of one finger.
How to disable the zoom feature. There must be a way in settings to turn that off. I just want the touchpad to work normally, as in move the cursor around.. thats it, nothing more.

Aug 28, 2014I have a recently gotten my Lenovo g510, with a synaptics touchpad. My problem is that when I write, I can't move my pointer at the same time. It's like when I type my touchpad gets disabled, and when I stop the typing it enables again. I've seen some places that it's just to turn of/on palmcheck? But I can't find it in my settings. It looks like my menu is more up to date than the others, and therefore they have more detailed menus, but mine is pretty simple.
I will add a picture of my menu, when I go to my mouse settings, and then the settings for the synaptics.

Dec 12, 2012Okay so, I got my Lenovo Ideapad Y500 a couple days ago. Liked it and all BUT when I had my mouse connected into the laptop and then turned off the touchpad, it would not turn back on. The only way I could get my touchpad to work again is by restarting the computer, which is pretty frustrating.
I searched this: [URL] .... for ANY drivers/software for the Y500 mousepad and there are none.
FN + F6 toggles the touchpad on and off and I have tried to turn it on and off, with and without the external mouse connected.
Dell :: Why/How Did My Order Ship So Quickly?
Mar 28, 2010I ordered the system in my sig early morning on 3/24. At the time of the order, it was estimated to ship on 4/2 with an estimated delivery date of 4/9. When I called to check the status the next day (3/25), it stated that the order was processing. When I checked again later that night, it said it was shipped on 4/6. I checked the status again the next morning (3/26), and this time it said it was shipped on 3/28 with an updated estimated delivery date of 3/31. Now today, on the 28th, I got the 'order has shipped' email along with the FedEx tracking number. FedEx's estimated delivery date is 3/30.
Anyone have any idea why or how my order could have shipped so quickly? I never did catch it in the kitting/build/testing/boxing stages...and these stages usually take at least a few days. Could I be receiving a recently returned system that just happened to have the same specs? It seems almost unheard of to receive a new system in less than a week after ordering it...especially when considering that they are built overseas and that I picked standard 7-day shipping. Is there any way I can tell if it is a returned system?
My friends and family somewhat jokingly said maybe it's because of my previous order history. I ordered the SXPS 1645 in late November, but later ended up cancelling the order in December due to the throttling issues it was having at the time. When I cancelled the order, it was already in the build stage for a day or two. Could Dell maybe have noticed my history and "rushed" my order this time?

Dell Inspiron 15 5000 :: Will Not Start Up - Blue Bar Fills Up Quickly And Two Option Appear
Jan 17, 2015When I press the power button the dell logo appears. I then press spacebar and a blue bar fills up quickly. There are two options at the side:
F2 Setup
F12 Boot Options
I can press either one and it will highlight. The computer will then make some noise but nothing will happen for hours.
This is a brand new computer. It worked the first few weeks, then this happened.

I bought a replacement battery pcga-BP2E for my sony vaio vgn 417M.It ran off the battery and showed it was charging but % didn't go up. Every time I connect the power cable the battery light flashes rapidly and I can't find in any manual what it means.
Using my original working battery the battery light flashes slowly as it should and the laptop works ok.
10 days and I am still waiting for a relpy from the supplier atleast I started my complaint through paypal.

UPDATE: From 100% to 7% in 25 minutes. It used to last 2-3 hours!

I QUICKLY determined there was NOT anything I could do, so I closed it back up and turned it on....ONLY it did NOT turn on....NOTHING...no screen, no lights, no noises....and the battery is fully charged and I tried with the power cord plugged in.....

if any of you 1555 owners can boot into the BIOS and stay in there for 5 minutes, can you just observe if teh fan goes off or not? Mine does, even after a cold boot (when i haven't used the laptop within the last hour).
Dell :: Studio 1737 Screen Does Not Turn On
Mar 16, 2010I installed windows 7 ultimate today on my studio 1737. I first as always install the dell drivers and update windows.
I was told by a dell tech to flash the bios. When I did this, the bios froze right near the end of being complete. I waited for about 15 mins and nothing, not even the mouse moves.
So I pressed the power button and hold it for about 10 seconds and nothing. The only thing left for me to do was to pull the power cord and the batterie so the computer will turn off which of course did happen.

Laptop was never 'opened' (ie with screws)device mainly used to text editing, browsing and PhotoshopBackground apps/services: Apple iTunes services, Dropbox, Lenovo mouse/trackpad service and startup utilities like Google Update, Java update, Adobe Reader Speed launch.
I do not shut down my laptop most of the times, I simply put my computer in sleep modus (in other words: I close the lid of the laptop)I do play games on this laptop, but of course I do not expect the battery to last many hours when doing so. The battery drains quickly only in 'normal' situations - gaming, video editing and lots of Photoshop do not count of course.Connected to the internet all the time (no 3G, just WiFi)Bluetooth disabled.
The laptop is fully charged using the original charger. The power plan is set to Power Saver (image). Brightness is set to around 60% of maximum according to the build in indicator of Windows 8. The apps that are open are Google Chrome ( with 5 tot 15 tabs most of the time), Outlook, Dropbox and one metro apps (weather or the app store).

As you can read, no heavy usage. The CPU is stable between 5% tot 20% and the RAM is at 40% to 70%.
