View 10 RepliesWhen I go on the Dell website (both Canadian and American, although I am in Canada) and I customize one of these laptops with the rgbLED display, as soon as I switch the system colour to any other colour than the default black the rgbLED switches to a WLED, but the cost stays the same.
Is this a glitch, when it says WLED does it actually mean rgbLED? (or else why does it still cost the same) I was curious because I was definitely getting interested in the rgbLED, but I would much rather have the laptop in white.
Which color do you prefer?
White
(OR)
Black
(OR)
Red
I have just added Red for those who were demanding it and I wouldn't mind the Red now as well
I have a XPS L702X, purchased it last year at the beginning of the summer. After a couple of weeks of use, the colors would change on the screen and the screen would start flickering. The dell people did a remote assistance and updated the bios and graphics software. It stopped for a little while. Then the colors would just change but not flickering yet. Then it started all over again, but now it would flash and lock up my keyboard, but I could still control the mouse with an external one. So I got a live CD to see if that works and it runs, but the screen still flashes white and gets static. I can see the desktop and move the mouse but it eventually turns all white and static comes through the speakers. Now the computer will not even turn on at times, it sounds like it is booting up, but then just shuts off.
I have also tried doing a system restore but it will not stay on long enough to go through the process, this last time it shut down completely before even finishing.
I have also tried using an external monitor and it will go through until the screen starts flickering.
do you think it's worth paying the extra £90 for the white LED display?
View 4 Replies View RelatedI hear white noise / static noise (whatever is the proper term for that) when using headphones with Studio XPS 1640. It is most audible when no sound or music is being played from the laptop.
I'm not if it has something to do with the type of headphones that I am using (I have two sets of Creative earphones that I got together with my XPS M1210 and 1530).
I have a Dell Studio Laptop, Model PP39LThe laptop has a fully charged battery and is plugged in. The Led on the battery plug (going into the computer) lights blue. When I press the power button the screen will flash white for a second and then nothing (no beeps either). The little white led on the computer by the power jack will light up white for a second and then turn off as well. This has happened in the past but it just worked after leaving it alone for a few hours.Â
I haven't turned the laptop off since this incident. I've been putting it in stand by/ sleep mode and everything was fine. I was also able to restart the computer with no problems. It's just when I power down when this happens. The keyboard recently froze (new issue) and I had no choice but to reboot by powering down. Now it won't turn on. I have never spilled anything on the laptop. Nor have I dropped it or caused any other damage to it. I'm thinking it might be a problem with the motherboard.
I have a Dell Studio 1557.  When I attempt to power on the laptop nothing happens. I can see a white blinking power light and nothing else.  There is no other signs of life, the fans do not come on and the CD-ROM cannot be used.
It seems like the AC adapater is working as I can see the blue light around the connector.
I have a Dell Studio XPS 13. Laptop is about 3-4 years old and everything was fine until yesterday. I was working on my laptop and suddenly my screen went white and the laptop shutdown after a few seconds (3-4) and it smelled like something burned down. I tried to power it on after few minutes and it went on, the hdd signal lamp was blinking but when the display should show the dell logo the computer shut's itself down.
View 4 Replies View RelatedMy wife was on her Studio 1550 the other night. I moved the laptop a little bit so she could show me something. When I moved it, the screen went white and then it quite working. The back of the laptop and the mouse pad got real hot and smelled hot.
It will not power up at all now with the battery or the power cord. It will not do anything when you press the power button. When the power cord is plugged in the laptop continues to get very hot and actually smoked a little bit once.
What happened to the laptop or if it can be fixed? Did the motherboard get fried somehow?
I received my alpine white XPS today in the mail. The packaging was very nice, however when I pulled the laptop out of the "black bag" that it came packaged in, the laptop was stained on both the gloss top and on the leather. I called and explained the situation and they said they are sending a replacement. I am hoping that it'll have some protective covering on the laptop inside the black bag or else I imagine this will happen again.

View 4 Replies View RelatedI have a 9400 with a 7950gtx in it. I recently had to replace the inverter in the lcd because it was giving me problems. It worked fine for a day and occasionally I would get a white screen randomly but it would go away and the normal one would come back. Now its white screen all the time. Its definately not the videocard because i can plug in an external monitor and its fine. Is this the inverter? lcd? bulb?
View 13 Replies View Relatedi havent been on here in awhile, mainly because everything has been running pretty well on my lappy for a while. i've got a new issue though, and i was hoping to get some assistance.
i noticed today after my computer installed internet explorer 8, that if i open a window, then drag it on the desktop, it leaves a white trail behind it. its really weird.
i've downloaded the latest drivers from dell, and just installed them. everything seems to be set right, from the resolution, the the sli enabled. but i'm at a loss
M1330 Alpine White is it glossy?
View 6 Replies View RelatedIts the laptop in my sig, and I have it set so my LCD goes off after 5 mins. Well instead of turning black, it turns white. Is this a driver thing, or what? I'm using XP
View 15 Replies View Relatedwondering how many of you RGB-screens owners who have good/normal white colour ???
if so, what setting (or software) are you using.
As soon as he leaves, the laptop just shuts off. I try to turn it back on, and all three of the lights (caps lock and number lock and the other one) plus the three lights on the hinge light up for 5 seconds and then shutoff.
On the few times I have been able to get it to start, if I moved it at all, the entire system would freeze and I would get a white screen with a message that says "You have inserted a module into the D-Bay attached to your docking station, but this module is not supported by the D-Bay
1) Notebook Cover -> which is best? black or White?. Will the white get dull and stained over time?, Does the black look like cheapy plastic?. Does the black look like the ones on the black Inspirons because I think those do look nasty?
2) Built-In Broadband card (Wireless 5540 Mobile Broadband HSDPA Mini-Card ) -> how is the reception of these units compared to the USB dongle ones?. Is Access to where they are installed at the bottom of the notebook hence not voiding waranty if i decide to install at a later date? or Am I just better off getting one off ebay at a cheaper price?
After a few years of good service, I noticed a white vertical patch about ½" thick on my E1705 yesterday. It's always there whenever the screen is on.
I haven't connected the laptop to an external monitor yet to completely rule out graphics card issue, but it seems like a screen issue to me. Last year I had a graphics card issue (garbled screen) and Dell replaced it under warranty but it's out of warranty this time ......
I want something glossy and I can't decided on which one looks better! anyone wanna give me a helping hand in picking?
white: M1330 Alpine White is it glossy?
black: XPS M1530 Precut InvisibleShield
We replaced the motherboard. Then it would start up but then shut back down. Swapped out the video card on a hunch, then we got a white screen with an odd color line through it periodically.
We can plug it into another monitor and it works fine so we're getting output.
Would this mean my screen is shot? If so, are there other models that will have compatible screens (17" XPS, for example)
After having my XPS 13 for a couple of months I have noticed a bright blemish appearing on the screen.
It remains in the same place regardless of screen aspect so it seems to be the screen itself rather than a software/driver issue.
Rather than being one bright pixel it appears as an indistinct and irregular bright patch roughly in the middle of the screen.
when I try to start my Inspiron 15 the battery light will flash and then wait for a few seconds and then flashes again. I put a post tester and it says no codes and restarts and flashes again no codes.
View 1 Replies View RelatedI have a inspiron 3520 laptop. A little over a year old. Lately my screen has been going white with black lines and swirls going through it. Sometimes it will clear right up and sometimes I have to restart the computer. I have tried installing My Dell Client but it will not install.
View 2 Replies View RelatedMy dell laptop worked perfectly for around 6 months. After that i have had to use my TV as a monitor via HDMI. Basically on start up the screen goes black and slowly turns to white with multi-coloured lines running vertically down it. It first started to play around not long after i had bought it, the screen would freeze and seem to slowly become faded and lose colour but if i flipped the screen up and down a little it would work fine again but after abut a month of being able to jiggle it back to a working state it completely went. I have spoken to a local PC reapir shop who have quoted me around £150-175 to fix this.
I have researched this problem thoroughly on the internet to find that this particular model is prone to issues like mine and others in regards to its screen. Using my TV as a monitor, the visuals are all fine.
I have downloaded the latest drivers for literally everything. Bios, Graphics... You name it, I have tried it in multiple attempts to try and fix this.
My laptop is no longer under warranty but this issue seems to affect a lot of this particular model.Â
I have a dell M5010 laptop. There was a problem with the screen of my laptop (diagonal lines coming when i opened "my computer" window) for which the dell support replaced my screen while my laptop was under warranty. The screen was replaced in the month of february 2013 and my warranty expired on 3rd of March 2013. Now after two months of my screen replacement i am experiencing white outs which is quite random and happens at start up as well as while i am working on my laptop. After the white screen remains for a few seconds the screen comes back with vertical line transition.
This particular model  of dell had lots of problem from the very beginning and had been a sort of bad luck for me. At first the hard disk along with optical drive was replaced and then the screen. And now the screen still after replacement is showing new defects.
Apart from the fact that I had too many problems with my L502X laptop, right now my problem is:
When I press power button on the device, battery icon blinks white twice, then system boots up. But normally there should be light on Power button and other 3 shortcut buttons, but they keep dark even though laptop works.
There is no error message or something else related with my battery, and windows says that battery is fully charged when it's plugged in which is pretty normal. I tried diagnostics but there wasn't any error messages.
For last one month I am facing this issue, the white display in the lcd screen. This is not happening very regularly, it happens intermittently.
I need to forcefully shut down the machine, after restart sometimes the problem goes away, sometimes it stays. I shut down the machine in that case.
What is the reason behind this and what is the resolution to fix this?
I recently have had a problem with my Dell XPS M1530. The laptop crashed from what I presume was it overheating. When I switch it back on the screen lights up white with no display. I am able to use the laptop through an external display (pressing FN F8) however the quality is very poor, this is surprising as I used to use an external display frequently at a high quality and I am now unable to change the screen resolution in the display settings. I have also noticed that I can no longed put the laptop into 'sleep' mode. How the two errors could be related but both happened after the same crash.
I have tried to recconect the video cable but unfortunately it didn't work.
Any simple fix to this problem or if the GPU or screen needs to be replaced?
