For last one month I am facing this issue, the white display in the lcd screen. This is not happening very regularly, it happens intermittently.
I need to forcefully shut down the machine, after restart sometimes the problem goes away, sometimes it stays. I shut down the machine in that case.
What is the reason behind this and what is the resolution to fix this?

I have a Dell Vostro 1015 Laptop and the graphics card is not working for me. I know it has a built-in graphics card and there is nothing i can do about that but is there any type of external add-on type of thing for a graphics card ? For example, a supplementary graphics card that is plugged in through USB or another input.

View 2 Replies View RelatedI recently have had a problem with my Dell XPS M1530. The laptop crashed from what I presume was it overheating. When I switch it back on the screen lights up white with no display. I am able to use the laptop through an external display (pressing FN F8) however the quality is very poor, this is surprising as I used to use an external display frequently at a high quality and I am now unable to change the screen resolution in the display settings. I have also noticed that I can no longed put the laptop into 'sleep' mode. How the two errors could be related but both happened after the same crash.
I have tried to recconect the video cable but unfortunately it didn't work.
Any simple fix to this problem or if the GPU or screen needs to be replaced?
I bought this Envy 17 3D in December of 2010 from HP Websight. The Model is WY771AV  and runs Windows 7 with 1080P and Uses A M D 5875 Graphics. The Last 30 days, @ boot-up, the screen will turn solid white when I try to start it up. All I can do is hold power button down to power off and retry. 9 0 % of time, retry fails(does same thing), but occasionally I can go to startup repair , run system restore and use machine for 2 or 3 times before the next white-out.
View 2 Replies View RelatedMy screen recently started getting a lot of faded white lines going horizontal and vertical across my screen causing the screen to blur/disorientated my screen. I can still navigate just fine but there is clearly something wrong here. I've plugged it into my hdmi's port on my tv and the image is just fine. Is it a wiring problem maybe? The lines are getting slightly more extreme and a little more colored... They lines of windows extend around the border all the way to the end if the screen.

And a black stripe at the bottom of the display. Also horizontal grey bars covering the start button completely.

The only difference I can see between the 1014 and 1088 is the 1088's ATI HD 4330 dedicated graphics card. All three look very similar and have 16:9 aspect ratio displays (1366x768)....

I have a Compaq 3000 Laptop, it's almost 2.4 Years old now, over the period of time I dint faced any issues with my Machine.it all started yesterday.
I was watching a movie on my Laptop yesterday, after sometime the screen froze up but the movie was playing as I was able to hear whats going in the movie.
Later I tried restarting the machine, what i get is the machine boots up properly, but the screen doesnt display anything thing, it shows up a blank white screen, sometime when the windows XP loading picture comes up the screen shows light distorted colors but again goes white blank.
I did approached a local vendor for that but he says that we need to replace on the motherboard, I was not much convinced over his explanation over the issue.
I would like to know your views on what might be the problem with my Machine.
I am going to try over connecting an external monitor and see if LCD is the problem, but I would like to know more what all possible options are there which might be affecting my machine and how much would it cost me in the worst possible case.
I have a HP Pavilion G7-1365dx Notebook and I recently have been having issues with the screen turning white while running Netflix or Sims 3. When the screen goes white I put it in sleep mode and then wake the comupter up again and the screen comes on like normal but if I'm running Netflix or Sims 3 its only a matter of time before it happens again.

My tv tuner INTEX IT-TV 150 FM plays only audio. The screen turns totaly white with no video signal. When calling the supporting staff at INTEX, they told me to install HP Pavilion dv4 video driver. Could this be the solution? If so, where could I find the video driver?
View 1 Replies View RelatedI have a XPS L702X, purchased it last year at the beginning of the summer. After a couple of weeks of use, the colors would change on the screen and the screen would start flickering. The dell people did a remote assistance and updated the bios and graphics software. It stopped for a little while. Then the colors would just change but not flickering yet. Then it started all over again, but now it would flash and lock up my keyboard, but I could still control the mouse with an external one. So I got a live CD to see if that works and it runs, but the screen still flashes white and gets static. I can see the desktop and move the mouse but it eventually turns all white and static comes through the speakers. Now the computer will not even turn on at times, it sounds like it is booting up, but then just shuts off.
I have also tried doing a system restore but it will not stay on long enough to go through the process, this last time it shut down completely before even finishing.
I have also tried using an external monitor and it will go through until the screen starts flickering.
I'm currently having a problem with my Vostro 3460. Once in a while, when I plug in the AC Adapter to my laptop, it'll make 2 beeps sound and show an error about battery is unrecognized, the battery light in the front panel will flash between amber and white. I have tried to reseat the battery several times but it's not working. Below are some pictures I took when this happened:Â

View 4 Replies View RelatedI have a 1 year old dell inspiron 5520 and about a month or two back, the display started showing white lines at the top and bottom. One day, it stopped working and we gave it to this tech guy. He replaced the motherboard and battery(The laptop worked but was noticeably slower). The white lines still existed and the screen started jumping up and down. Changing the refresh rate worked temporarily. And then my mother gave it to the tech guy again. She got suspicious of him and asked him to return it. And he did but now, the laptop display won't boot and there's the 8 beeps. I connected the laptop to our properly working PC monitor to see if it was the laptop's display's fault. But, it still gives 8 beeps and the monitor shows a blank black screen.

It worked fine for a day and occasionally I would get a white screen randomly but it would go away and the normal one would come back. Now its white screen all the time. Its definately not the videocard because i can plug in an external monitor and its fine. Is this the inverter? lcd? bulb?

On the few times I have been able to get it to start, if I moved it at all, the entire system would freeze and I would get a white screen with a message that says "You have inserted a module into the D-Bay attached to your docking station, but this module is not supported by the D-Bay
After a few years of good service, I noticed a white vertical patch about ½" thick on my E1705 yesterday. It's always there whenever the screen is on.
I haven't connected the laptop to an external monitor yet to completely rule out graphics card issue, but it seems like a screen issue to me. Last year I had a graphics card issue (garbled screen) and Dell replaced it under warranty but it's out of warranty this time ......
We replaced the motherboard. Then it would start up but then shut back down. Swapped out the video card on a hunch, then we got a white screen with an odd color line through it periodically.
We can plug it into another monitor and it works fine so we're getting output.
Would this mean my screen is shot? If so, are there other models that will have compatible screens (17" XPS, for example)
After having my XPS 13 for a couple of months I have noticed a bright blemish appearing on the screen.
It remains in the same place regardless of screen aspect so it seems to be the screen itself rather than a software/driver issue.
Rather than being one bright pixel it appears as an indistinct and irregular bright patch roughly in the middle of the screen.
I have a inspiron 3520 laptop. A little over a year old. Lately my screen has been going white with black lines and swirls going through it. Sometimes it will clear right up and sometimes I have to restart the computer. I have tried installing My Dell Client but it will not install.
