Mar 25, 2013For last one month I am facing this issue, the white display in the lcd screen. This is not happening very regularly, it happens intermittently.
I need to forcefully shut down the machine, after restart sometimes the problem goes away, sometimes it stays. I shut down the machine in that case.
What is the reason behind this and what is the resolution to fix this?

When I connect external monitor to my laptop, it detects external display but doesn't show anything on external monitor and laptop screen also turns black. Aug 14, 2009Dell has announced three upcoming Vostro models- two 14.0" (1014, 1088) and a 15.6" (1015). The only difference I can see between the 1014 and 1088 is the 1088's ATI HD 4330 dedicated graphics card. All three look very similar and have 16:9 aspect ratio displays (1366x768)....
I wonder if the 1320 and 1520 will continue alongside these new models?

Jul 21, 2008i've been enjoying my m1530 until i had an issue with the hard drive. i was working in a program when it suddenly restarts. it automatically runs a bios test and i get the error 2000-0141 stating a hard drive was not detected. upon a few restarts, the laptop eventually boots and it's been working fine since.
however, after putting a few facts together, i feel i didn't get a new/fresh laptop. here are some facts
hard drive issues
missing install discs and storage case
comptuer didn't arrive with plastic protection on aluminum casing
fine scratches are present on the black bezel that houses the media controls
missing other small items like the earpieces and cloth

Feb 27, 2009I bought a Vostro 1500. It has been fine and I got XP instead of Vista. 2GB of RAM.
It boots up fine with quick Dell screen, black XP start up screen with thermometer line at bottom, then light blue XP screen then Vostro.
Before the destop icons show up next after Vostro and I am all set. Now it stops at Vostro.
I can get to programs using task manager file open and browse. Not very convenient.

i will be, however massively watching movies, and streaming movies (99.9% of the web, not dvd player) would that need a dedicated graphic card?

price, screen quality, build quality, weight, which ones have the same keyboard,current known issues, and are they any rumors or known news of any updates of any of these models in the next 6 months worth waiting for?
ive also bought a m1330 a few months back, but since i had some issues with school, i had to return it and delay my purchase to this year.
the laptop was getting extremely hot, like not even possible to put on my lap kind-of hot. is that issue fixed?

Aug 17, 2009I was using windows 7 till now on my dell studio 1555..
I had formatted the whole hdd while installing..
apart from the factory image file (*.wim) (5gb+ file) i had not backed up anything else from the recovery partition..
Can i use that Windows Imaging Format (WIM) file to restore back my laptop to factory settings ?
EDIT : I currently dont have my "Windows Vista OEM Disc" with me right now

Jul 19, 2009I noticed a few other threads around the internet about this issue, but couldnt find a definitive answer on how to get it fixed, so I thought I would try it here.
The problem is that when I go into standby and wake from it, my bluetooth icon disappears and bluetooth doesnt work.
I have a Dell Studio XPS 13 running Vista 64 with the Dell bluetooth 370 minicard. Ive tried using the generic windows bluetooth drivers as well as Dell's drivers.
Nothing appears in device manager as well. I have to manually go into bluetooth settings, disable the device, then re-enable it.

Mar 4, 2010I have an e4300 with 4 gigs of ram and Win7. I recently downloaded the latest Windows Update as prompted by the OS, and now I'm having an issue where everytime I start the computer it asks me to set the page file size. It's always listed as 0 megs.
So, I got to reset it using the box marked managed by the system, and when I restart the same thing happens.
So instead I chose a custom size 1.5xRam for lower limit, 3x ram for higher limit, and still eveytime I restart it gives me an automatic pop-up telling me my page file is set to zero.
