View 5 Replies View RelatedFor those who don't know yet, Dell has released a new BIOS for the S-XPS 1645 machine; A06. Since Dell wasn't very clear about what this system does other than:
Quote:
1.Enhance system stability.
2.Support new graphic card.
I am running a 1737 with A04 BIOS. As far as I can tell everything us running great.
I recently saw that theres a new A06 BIOS. Is it worth it to update? And are there any risks?
improved battery life etc.
as the dramtic headline says i just went to log onto my e6500 and placed my finger on the FIPS fingerprint reader and it roasted me !
and it didnt even log me in either , but worst part is it made me recoil a little and the machine fell of my lap and the screen lid took a knock on the floor,
so i now have a cracked screen lid .....
Does anyone know why my Latitude D600 won't play back-up (burnt) dvds, but it plays the original disc? When I put in the burnt disc I hear a clicking sound, but nothing else happens.
I have been trying to use burnt -R discs and dual layer discs; these discs play on other dvd players. Should my laptop plays these discs? And if so why doesn't it? I believe it still has the original drive in it; I bought the laptop second hand.
Get the driver from this thread:
New Synaptics Driver - Multitouch like Macbooks
I'm using 13.2.1.0 with my 1340 because the newer ones haven't worked. Next, navigate to the Device Settings tab, and click Settings. From there, the fun begins.
Go to Application Gestures, "Three Fingers Down," and select Configure. At that point, you'll need this command:
%windir%System32
undll32.exe dwmapi.dll #105
Copy that, select "Add" and paste it into the command text box. Name it Flip 3D or whatever you want, and select OK, OK, and click Apply. Now, make sure you have Three Finger Flick enabled. This will let you scroll between the applications that are running in Flip 3D. Once you get the hang of it, it's a very cool and easy way to get around. You know, or not. Whatever.
Dell Studio not turning on? Â I've had this happen several times.
On previous times, I would take the battery out for a day or 2, put back in and it would turn on. Â Unfortunately, this time, no-can-do!
I was having problems keeping the IE page fully maximised each time I opened a new page.
To correct this, I would expand the borders of the page to the size I wanted by clicking and dragging them. Then not exiting the page by clicking on the "X", but by going to main menu and selecting File then "Exit". This system had worked with XP IE and also with Vista IE but did not work for Win 7 IE.
This works: Right click on Desktop IE icon, select Properties.
In the window that opens, the "Target" is highlighted. Delete that and insert "C:Program FilesInternet Exploreriexplore.exe". Insert the quotes as well.
in the m1720 config page for my country, dell is offering the following graphics cards:
128MB NVIDIA® GeForce® 8400M GS [add $160]
256MB NVIDIA® GeForce® 8600M GT [add $250]
are these better than the 7950GTX?
im new to the forum...
i just got a dell vostro 1510 with
t8300 2.4ghz
256mb nvidia 8400gs

n now aftr researching the forums i got 2 know that there is a huge difference in
these 2 graphics cards...n i want to play games like crysis n assasins creed....n i dint know tht merely model nos can make so much of difference..
so is there any way i can change my graphic card to 8600gt...?
see bellow print screen photo of two laptops Model M1530
1- what is the difference ?
2- what is the best ?
3- what is the one able to play most games ?
i just had my motherboard replace coz not getting any display and the tech support was trying to convince me that is not the issue with the 8600gt on my m1530 cuz im not getting any vertical lines.
furthermore, they told me (which i called 2 other tech rep to confirm this, which added up total of 3) that dell has asked dell to make them new non-defective 3d card on new material
Not had my lappy long but just wanted to know what head room these cards have?
Current speeds below, just wanted to know what others had overclocked their's to with Rivatuner? Also the best application to monitor card temps too?
Core Clock = 475
Shader Clock = 950

I've just bought a DELL XPS M1530 and I'm so worried about the error of Geforce 8600GT Video Card that DELL and nVIDIA has reported!
So would you mind giving me a suggest of updating new driver for my video card? If in case I should update my graphic card, please share me the lastest driver for my Geforce 8600GT.
so i got some good responses (thanks again slowdown117) from my previous thread about the temps on my 8600gt soaring as of late, and i figured the chipset was biting the dust. but turns out she still had some life in her.
decided i didnt want to wait on an order of arctic silver 5, so i went down to compusa and picked up some compressed air and a tube of ocz freeze thermal extreme conductivity compound. the reviews online for it are solid, and it was only 5 bucks, so i was sold ...
ive change the thermal paste of my m1530, before closing the lid up, i forgot to plug in the fan socket, thus leaving my laptop without the fan on. After a while, when i felt the lappy is hot, suddenly i realized i forgot to plug in the fan socket.
however, the damage has been done, according to gpu-z, my gpu temp went up to 93c, and it took 30 minutes for it to increase from 80c to 93c.
I've got a new Dell Vostro 1500 with the Nvidia 8600M GT video card, and when I add a 2nd monitor to my display, the resolution of my laptop monitor drops to 1280x800. Anyone had this problem and know how to fix it? The 2nd monitor is an AOC 22LVWk, haven't tried it with any others yet.
View 15 Replies View Relatedmy friend is thinking about purchasing a new laptop for his mother. The HP DM3 laptops look to the best solution so far since they are both lightweight and have great battery life, something he thinks she'll appreciate. One thing i'm not sure about is their ability to run Adobe Photoshop CS4 smoothly.
I don't use Photoshop very often and when I do, it's on my laptop, which is pretty decent in terms of specifications. Will the program run fine on a laptop with a Intel CULV or AMD Neo processor and integrated graphics? Which leads me to my next question:
Which Pavilion laptop would you recommend? Are they both similar to each other than the processors?
My SZ430 has been a workhorse for me for 3+ years and I m now looking into the replacement of either Z or Y series....
Problem I have is I have 2 docking stations for my SZ in my home and office and would like to know if I can reuse those for the new Z or Y series.
I just saw the new sony e series laptops. Are they supposed to replace the NW series?

Which series is better? The B series is for business. This series is only 5.9lbs with 15.4'. On the other hand, the CW series is around 5.5 lbs and it is only 14'. What do you think? Have you ever try B series? 15.4' is pretty good for movie.
Does the E6400 use the same crappy keyboard as the Dell E4300 that I'm returning?

View 8 Replies View RelatedI am having an issue that I can replicate on any E-series laptop and on XP, Vista and Win7.
When using A2DP audio (headphones) the BT370 adapter will just randomly disappear. I can stream audio for any amount of time, 5 minutes, an hour, all day long. So it is completely random.
It is no longer listed under device manager and turning on and off the toggle switch does not bring it back. The only thing that helps is rebooting .....
Just checking if anyone has the scoop on the upcoming Dell Latitude Z series laptop?

I have seen some AC Adaptors for latitude e-series (Latitude E6500 & E6400) and they was very thin and light.
However, yesterday I received my M4400 and the AC is too big and heavy in comparation with que latitude ACs.
Reviewing the orders, I've seen that Latitude's have "450-11869 Power Cord: European 90W AC Adaptor 2 pin" whereas M4400 have "450-11970 Power Supply And Power Cord: Worldwide 130W AC Adapter with European Power Cord".
