I've just bought a DELL XPS M1530 and I'm so worried about the error of Geforce 8600GT Video Card that DELL and nVIDIA has reported!
So would you mind giving me a suggest of updating new driver for my video card? If in case I should update my graphic card, please share me the lastest driver for my Geforce 8600GT.
ive change the thermal paste of my m1530, before closing the lid up, i forgot to plug in the fan socket, thus leaving my laptop without the fan on. After a while, when i felt the lappy is hot, suddenly i realized i forgot to plug in the fan socket.
however, the damage has been done, according to gpu-z, my gpu temp went up to 93c, and it took 30 minutes for it to increase from 80c to 93c.
I'm thinking of updating the graphics driver on my M1530 from Dell's 176.44 version to the latest 185.20 version from Laptopvideo2go.
Wanted to ask a few questions before doing so, mainly:
Are there any problems when "waking up" from sleep with these drivers?Anyone got any benchmarks or comments on performance for these drivers? Mainly play COD4, Fallout3, Farcry 2...Notice any difference in temps.?
Anyone who has installed them i would appreciate your comments!
Should mention I'm running Vista SP1, 4GB RAM, T7250 and i usually overclock my card to 610/902.
Since I updated my bios I have noticed that my fans are pretty much always on high and that the heat coming out the back is a lot hotter than it used to be. Granted, I have been using the computer with my big monitor with the lid closed more now but even when I'm not doing that it's still just as hot. Has anyone else noticed this since the update?

Is this the new nVIDIA update that I read about a few weeks ago here? Have any of you installed this update? Is it worth the install? Or should I just ignore it? What does it do better to my graphics card?
in the m1720 config page for my country, dell is offering the following graphics cards:
128MB NVIDIA® GeForce® 8400M GS [add $160]
256MB NVIDIA® GeForce® 8600M GT [add $250]
are these better than the 7950GTX?

these 2 graphics cards...n i want to play games like crysis n assasins creed....n i dint know tht merely model nos can make so much of difference..

i just had my motherboard replace coz not getting any display and the tech support was trying to convince me that is not the issue with the 8600gt on my m1530 cuz im not getting any vertical lines.
furthermore, they told me (which i called 2 other tech rep to confirm this, which added up total of 3) that dell has asked dell to make them new non-defective 3d card on new material

I've got a new Dell Vostro 1500 with the Nvidia 8600M GT video card, and when I add a 2nd monitor to my display, the resolution of my laptop monitor drops to 1280x800. Anyone had this problem and know how to fix it? The 2nd monitor is an AOC 22LVWk, haven't tried it with any others yet.

View 8 Replies View Relatedmy DVD drive is non-functional, so I downloaded the recent driver for it from the Dell site (8/19/2008, DJ06, A02). When I tried running it I got an error stating "You don't have administrator right to process or No device is recognized".
Which is weird as I'm the local admin on the machine.

Sorry to bother folks with this nuisance, however, I updated my ATI Mobility Radeon 4650 drivers via Dell's website to 8.65 and ever since, the Catalyst Control Center refuses to run. I politely click on it, the machine thinks for a while and then, rather rudely, simply ignores my request.

Not sure how to remedy this.
I am trying to install this driver update hoping it will remedy a black screen with cursor when logging in. It takes about a minute to login and then the desktop finally appears. Was taking quite a bit longer to log in before I updated the other drivers and then removed McAfee to see if it was eating up system resources.
The driver windows installed makes some noises sometimes when listening to music. Where can i get a good driver?

Before (with Windows Vista), I was able to connect my Dell 968w printer and Blackberry Tour to my laptop via Bluetooth with no problem.

I recently did a hard drive format to install Windows 7 64-bit and since then the integrated array mic on my M1530 has not worked. I am not sure but I believe the integrated mic is run by the sound driver.
I have tried to update my sound driver from the standard Microsoft High Definition Audio one to the Sigma Tel on the Dell drivers website but when I but when I try to install it says "Object not present please restart system and try again."
I have tried this countless times now and have tried uninstalling the MS driver before installing the new one but after restarting Windows automatically re-installs the High Definition Audio.
What do you recommend me? I read somewhere that i should get the realtek hd drivers

Take audio drivers for example.
Acer update site reports Realtek audio driver version 6.0.1.5847 for my system.
If I switch to Seven 32, it reports 6.0.1.5915.
If I look for Aspire 8940G, Vista 32 (same audio hardware as mine), I see 6.0.1.5918, and, finally, 8940G Seven 32 has 6.0.1.5930.
They are all different from official Realteak drivers: they are at version 2.39 and lacks a control panel element (from Realtek...) that is present in the Acer divers, the one with the desk picture and the speakers around the room.
First question is: does Acer ever update drivers for different system or they just offer the drivers that were present in the retailed system?
Second: how comes the Realtek drivers lack the control panel component?
Used it on my 8600gt that had burnt out out of warranty, gas mark 6 for 8 minutes and it fixed the degraded performance.

When I run the update the drivers unzip and then begin the install process and then immediately cease and begin a rollback.
I have tried eveything in the book and been on the phone for hours with Dell tech support.
The card works well otherwise but the driver is 2 years old.

Using the HDMI for sound works, but as this is never really an option, this will not do.
