View 15 RepliesI have Dell Vostro V131 that I recently formatted. Now I have Windows 7 enterprise version. However, two of three USB ports did not work. I downloaded all the possible drivers that were available at Dell website. In the Device manager drivers for USB controller and one 'unidentified device' are missing that anyhow are not corrected.
Also, though the drivers for biometric devices are shown to be properly installed, but the device does not work.
Furthermore, external display through VGA port could not be connected, though HDMI port is working fine.Â
I bought a Vostro V131 3 months ago. When connecting to AC adapter it charges as needed until it reaches 74%, and does not charge more.
Using Ubuntu 11.10.

View 2 Replies View RelatedI have Vostro V131 model with 64 bit Windows 7 pro (preinstalled) Â The laptop stacks when is going to sleep/ hibernate (lid close/button press / via windows etc, doesn't matter. Power button/indication stays on & white leds indicator (power & wireless stay on). I was waiting for a long time , but no reaction. To return back to normal mode I need or to press power button for 6 sec (for power off and then power on) or remove power connector & remove battery.
I updated BIOS to v05, saw some suggestions in sw sleep configuration, but it doesn't work.
I'm having a problem with my Dell Vostro 3550 Core i5, completely shut down Windows, screen off completely, but the power light and the keyboard still light, until the battery is completely discharged.
I think the reason is the OS I'm using (Windows 8), I have changed the operating system (win7) but the problem is not fixed, I checked the hardware it still works fine
I am looking to upgrade my Vostro 1500 from a T5270 to a T6400. Does anyone know if this processor is fully compatible with the Vostro? It does have a Socket P setting.
The T8*** and T9*** all have the Socket P. The T64** came out after the 8's and 9's. I would appreciate any help. I don't want to go extreme with it and spend an arm and leg but just get a little boost. Also I know the T6400 will run cooler and use less battery.

Currently I am considering upgrading my processor from a T7250 to a T9300(or T9900) - Would upgrading the processor solve my problem and make my computer run super fast? or do I need to get a new laptop?
I have a Vostro 1500 that is in excellent shape. It has a T7100 processor (Merom, 65nm, 2MB cache, 800FSB, 1.8ghz). Does anyone know how high I can go?
I think Merom processors go all the way up to 2.6ghz on the 800 bus, and can have 4MB cache.
i was watching family guy in the kitchen today and when i plugged the laptop back into the AC adapter it just shut down,

When power button is pressed the LED in front of the touch pad blinks once.
The F12 with the power key does the BIST and the colors show up.Â
The Fn key with power key does nothing.Â

This happens a lot quicker if playing graphics intensive games or playing youtube videos. I want a processor that can handle playing games and videos.
Also, one thing I was thinking was that maybe a fan stopped working that is causing the CPU to over heat but when I run a Dell diagnostic no errors come up about a fan not working, so I'm thinking I just need to upgrade.

I have to upgrade the CPU in the Dell Inspiron 1525 laptop?
I was using my laptop the other day and it froze up. Then it shut down by itself. When I tried booting it back up, it says "No bootable devices found" and gives me the options to press F1, F2 or F5 for retrying, setup utility and diagnostics. I ran the diagnostics and it says "All tests passed". The SSD also seems to be recognized as it shows it in the "configuration" tab in diagnostics. I have also tried taking the msata SSD from the 2.5" bay and moving it to the msata slot. Rebooted but shows the same thing. Is this a known issue and is there a fix for this?

It said something about the BIOS but would never stay on long enough for me to totaly read it. I went to Best Buy and asked if they had any ideas.
The guy said to contact Sony and get a recovery disk, so i did. I ran the cd but half way through it I got another blue screen that read:
A problem has been detected and windows has been shut down to prevent damage to your computer.

I just got my laptop back after a big headache with the motherboard...
It powers on for awhile but when i try to play any games it shuts off by itself. I called up HP tech and they suspect it to be a faulty processor. When I try to run the memory test the laptop shuts off by itself too. What are my options for upgrading cpus?
I've got a dv5-1003. FE764ua. the processors that's in right now is an AMD turion x2 64. Also I'm only running on 2 gigs of ram when it originally came with 3. The laptop won't boot on if theres a ram card in the second slot.
my computer was fixed and he replaced the hard drive...on my hp computer...but now im noticing that is no longer centrino,bbut dual core....let me know if he sneaked and took it...or if when u fix a hard drive,the processor is replaced as well...

Swapped out AC adapter with one from a Latitude 510 Laptop. Numbers were all identical.Â
The Vostro ac adapter works on the Latitude 510.
The Latitude 510 ac adapter has the same result as the Vostro power supply. Ergo, ac adapter  is good.
The I/O switch appears to be loose. (Probable problem.)
I want something around 12 to 13", fast, that can handle the latest windows without lag or anything.
I don't plan to play games on this laptop, maybe some movies. I will usually be using it for Word, internet, and regular things.

I have had my Vostro 1500 for around 18 months now and it has been problem free so far until yesterday evening.
Basically my girlfriend was doing a bit of surfing and I had some music streaming at the same time. All of a sudden there was a loud clicking coming from the laptop.
I thought it was the music at first! but I managed to mute the sound and it was the laptop. It was quite a loud click happening at least twice a second .....
My laptop does not seem to be loading windows. I cannot sign on or access anything on my laptop. I have done a diagnostic test and the following errors come up:
Error code 0146
Msg error code 2000-0146
Msg hard drive 0 - self test log contains previous errors.
I am able to sign on to windows and my documents.
