Pressing I/O Start Button results in nothing (no blinks, sound, nothing at all).
Blue "Ready Light" lights up when plugged in.
Swapped out AC adapter with one from a Latitude 510 Laptop. Numbers were all identical.Â
The Vostro ac adapter works on the Latitude 510.
The Latitude 510 ac adapter has the same result as the Vostro power supply. Ergo, ac adapter  is good.
The I/O switch appears to be loose. (Probable problem.)
I bought a Vostro 3550 almost one year ago. About two weeks ago, most times I turn on the laptop, some loud beeps play (probably some warning beeps), but now, those beeps still make their presence, in lower intensity, during the usage of the machine. It is really irritating. I do not have a clue about what to look for or what it can be.

when i push the power button the power led comes on as well as the upper keyboard leds, the caps lock led flashes, idk if that means anything, but nothing from there, screen is blank and no hard drive seems to be spooling. The power brick led remains on when i plus it into the laptop and i have tried it without battery, ram, HD, and such but it won't start

Upon pushing the power button, the power button itself lights up for a second at most and then cuts right off. During this time, the screen remains black and nothing else occurs. I've tried turning it on while plugged in and charging and tried turning it on after being charged an hour or so. Everything yields the same results.

However when I try to turn it off by holding in the Power button it would not react in any way. There is nothing on the display, the only thing that is running is the cpu or fan. The only way to turn the laptop off is to remove its cover and unplug the battery. However when I plug the battery back in it starts up again with no display and power button flashing consistently white.

Throughout Sunday computer had been telling to restart to properly install [those pesky] windows updates. When I first tried turning on my computer come monday, I got the standard 'configuring' prior to start up, and then laptop shut down. Trying to turn it on again led me to the black screen telling me that windows failed to start up properly. I attempt to launch windows, but this went to system restore (last saved moment) and this failed. In fact this was the last time my computer was really and truly on.Â
From then on is the situation I have now - not turning on at all except for the occasional slight flicker in the power button. (I have tried different AC adapters and powering up with and without battery, to no avail.)If it counts for anything, my fan has been becoming very, very loud recently.
I have a dell i9300 and I want to know what i should do with it overnight. I have been turning it off at night and then turning it back on when i wake up. I am not to concerned with the effects this may have on the battery, I am more concerned with the effects it has on the computer itself. What should i do to ensure the optimal longevity of my notebook.

Inspiron N5010 does nothing when power button pressed, if power cord is attached then blue charging light goes out indicating that power unit has been overloaded and tripped out. If power lead is unplugged from laptop and mains supply, then plugged into mains again power is restored to adaptor and blue light on lead lights up again. Using Dell manual I have stripped laptop down to component parts. If mains adaptor is plugged into I/O board then charging light on lead remains lit. When motherboard ( including CPU ) is remounted onto I/O board, when mains adaptor is plugged in charging light goes out. Motherboard does not show any burnt area's or signs of damage to any component. Tried all versions of static discharge to laptop before stripping down without success. If the only solution is to replace Motherboard how can I order. The existing board includes 1GB ATI Mobility Radeon HD550v Graphics. The laptop is out of warranty.

View 2 Replies View Relatedmy laptop is dell n5110 i5.when i push the button to turn on the laptop nothing happens! i checked the charger and the battery in an another laptop and there was no issue with them but when i plug the charger to my laptop the green light on the charger turns off immediately and  the same thing happens with other charger! it must be a short circuit! i tried to remove the battery and the charger and to hold the button for 10 sec like described in a video i found in dell support but the problem persists! is it a problem with the dc card on my mother board?

If I turn the laptop off by going: Start, turn off, the display turns off but I can hear the fans still running. The only to turn it off is to hold down the power button.
Also if I shut my laptop lid the screen turns off but once again the fans are still running(doesn't go into to sleep mode). If I then re-open my laptop the display doesn't turn back on I have to hold the power button and then turn it back on.
I have a 15" Vostro laptop, only 2 years old, that won't start. When I press the on button, the first (top) blue light to the left of the keyboard flashes quickly, but then nothing happens. Now there are three blue lights to the left of the power button that are blinking on and off.
View 7 Replies View RelatedOn new years eve i knocked a glass of wine onto my Dell Inspiron 6400 and immediately unplugged it and removed the battery in order to let it dry out for a bit.
After trying it a few times and the laptop not turning on the battery light began flashing 3 times in red and then nothing still not turning on.
A day or 2 later when i tried it again it this time turned on and was working fine all day (about 12 hours) untill i accidentally pulled out the AC plug in the back and it turned off and now wont switch on at all. When i now press the power button the battery light turns red but doesn't blink and still get no power.
This laptop isn't even one month old.. this is sincerely frustrating as i have alot of important work saved on here...

Some signs I've been seeing: only bad signs i've seen was before it just didn't boot anymore.. maybe twice out of the 6 last time i've booted.. as soon as i typed my password to get into windows it would just shut off. Â i'd jus reboot and it worked fine. when it stopped turning on.. after messing with plugging it in or not (i didn't know if the battery was dead) i was able to make it past the windows sign on screen.. was going to email myself all my work before it suddenly shut off on me again. the battery had maybe 1/3rd life before it died
I might have interchanged battery chargers with another older dell model laptop.. but i think only a few times at most.. it mostly sits at work on a docking station at work. Â i have a feeling i never did though. Â from what i've read it seems like the battery chargers are all compatible as long as it's dell.

View 7 Replies View RelatedI've had my laptop for about a three weeks now. Last night, I shut the lid to put it to sleep and went out for a few hours, leaving the lap top plugged in.
When I came home, the laptop wouldn't turn on. I looked online, found to take out the battery, hold the power button down for 30 sec, put the battery back in, then plug it in again, nothing worked.
I left the battery out over night, then did the same thing -- no go.Â
The computer has been plugged in for about an hour now, still nothing.
There are no lights on the laptop itself, the green light is on the AC adapter and I also plugged in the adapter into another computer and it worked with that.
Running on Windows 7, Inspiron 17 5748 -- still under warranty.
I want something around 12 to 13", fast, that can handle the latest windows without lag or anything.
I don't plan to play games on this laptop, maybe some movies. I will usually be using it for Word, internet, and regular things.

My laptop HP G60 won't turn on. I am assuming there is power to the laptop because the side light is on. I have removed the battery, thinking the battery might be dead and just plugged it in. It still doesn't work.

View 2 Replies View RelatedI am having troubles with my dell inspiron 1545. It has been working fine, but I just tried to switch it on, and it won't boot. After pressing the 'on' button, the cd drive flashes and makes a noise, like it normally does when I switch the laptop on. Then nothing happens for a whole minute, and then a loud repetitive beep starts. It's 4 beeps in a row, which then gets repeated. I have let the beep continue, but it doesn't seem to stop, unless I either press the 'on' button again or take the battery out.

I have had my Vostro 1500 for around 18 months now and it has been problem free so far until yesterday evening.
Basically my girlfriend was doing a bit of surfing and I had some music streaming at the same time. All of a sudden there was a loud clicking coming from the laptop.
I thought it was the music at first! but I managed to mute the sound and it was the laptop. It was quite a loud click happening at least twice a second .....
