The wifi button toggles from disabled to off. How do I turn on the wifi?
L501X, working fine until this morning when I was unable to connect to the internet via my wireless connection. Two other laptops can connect as normal. If I hardwire the laptop the connection comes back. When I looked further into this I saw that the wifi was turned off. The problem is that the button in the Windows Mobility Center to turn the wifi on is greyed out and so I'm unable to turn it back on.
View 1 Replies View RelatedFor about a month or so my Vostro V130 has not been turning on. Upon pushing the power button, the power button itself lights up for a second at most and then cuts right off. During this time, the screen remains black and nothing else occurs. I've tried turning it on while plugged in and charging and tried turning it on after being charged an hour or so. Everything yields the same results.

View 7 Replies View RelatedI have a problem with my wifi. The button is always appearing orange, and nothing happens when I press it: no errors, no messages, no reaction at all. Therefore I cannot use wifi connection.
The laptop is kinda new: I am using it for only 2 months.
1. Product Name and Number
HP EliteBook 8560pНР LQ589AW
2. Operating System installed (if applicable)
Windows 7 Professional 64 bit
3. Error message (if any)
No error messages
4. Any changes made to your system before the issue occurred
My windows crashed and I recovered it from the archive created a couple days prior to that. Archive included all hard drives data, so system was restored exactly as it was prior to the crash. I am still not sure if this caused the problem (or if the problem appeared after that): it happened a month ago, and I didn't have WiFi available back then, and only tried to turn it on a couple days ago.
Additional details:
In device manager wireless card is showing up as working normally. In adapter management wireless connection is turned on but says "no connection available". If I run the diagnostics, it asks me to turn on WIFI with a button on my laptop, which I cannot do. In mobility center it says "wireless connection is turned off". Turn on button is gray, and impossible to click on.
Things I already tried:
Reinstalled all HP drivers from the original CD;Removed WiFi card in windows device manager (deleted the device), restarted windows, installed new drivers for it, restarted again;Checked mobility center as was suggested in one of the threads found on this forum;Made a hard reset for HP laptop (removed battery, pressed on/off button for full minute).
I use compaq presario cq43. my wifi button(f12) and few other buttons like insert, delete is not working.
How can i turn my wifi on. is there any possible way to enable the hardware button ....

View 1 Replies View RelatedOk after 3 days of using the 1340 I just realized the button on the top panel that you can use to increase/decrease volume stopped working. I had updated the latest drivers from Dell site but not sure if that is the reason.
Also non of the other buttons that are for DVD work either. And I know they were working when I got the laptop and only thing I have done is update with latest drivers.
I have an Acer notebook and I really want to have wifi always on. I accidentally keep turning off the wifi every once in a while,

I hate the auto-adjustment of screen backlight according to the brightness of the background, so I googled and knew that I can disable Dell Intelligent Display to avoid it. The problem is, even I unchecked the Dell Intelligent Display in Dell's battery settings, the auto-adjustment kept going on.
I sought through the battery settings of windows and dell but none of them could kill the auto-adjustment. Is there any other way to kill it? It's really a stupid design that dims backlight when looking at BLACK pages. It's all black....
I bought a Vostro 3750 last year for my wife and it didn't get used except twice. I never paid much attention to it until I turned it on this morning. I noticed the battery light blinks one white and 4 red signifying it was not charging. How do I enable battery charging on this model? I checked the documentation and did not see anything there. I guessing its the FN + one other key?
View 1 Replies View RelatedI have a Dell Latitude E6330 that is great, but when I plug it in to the docking station, it uses the docking stations NIC, but disables the WiFi.
The WiFi here is a different network and I need both.
(Running Windows 7 64-bit)
the WLAN was disabled by the device manager, and i can't turn it on
when i get into the device manger, a ! sign was shown beside Intel(R) WiFi Link 5100 AGN, and i click properties, the device status shows the below message:
"This device cannot start. (Code 10) Click 'Check for solutions' to send data about this device to Microsoft and to see if there is a solution available."
when i click "check for solutions", it shows "could not load driver software" and no solution appears
i tried the "update driver" function and still no clue to it.
the product no. of my dv7 is VQ971PA#AB5. Model no. is dv7-2124TX
I got dual boot both ubuntu and window 8.1.
After i change my wifi card and when i login to window it's disable and can't enable no matter what i do, but on ubuntu it's work.,
The laptop is HP Pavilion G4 running Windows 7 Ultimate (64-bit).
I just re-install my laptop from Windows 7 Home Premium (64-bit) to Windows 7 Ultimate (64-bit). But i just realized that there's no 'HP Connection Manager', so i downloaded it from internet.
When i turned on the wifi from 'HP Connection Manager', it said "Wi-Fi (Wireless LAN) is Disabled by Device Manager".
What should i do then?
Overnight, my Z470's wifi stopped work. The switch nor FN seems to turn the wifi on again, but I dont think the device is damaged or something. I tried everything I could.
1) Update driver / Uninstall and update driver / delete and update driver
2) Try to work on WLAN in services.msc but I couldn't find it in there
3) Some people says that could be the power management, I'm still trying to find the compatible version.
So, what else can I do? I don't wanna to format my machine!
I'm using Windows 8.1
For some reason after some of use the Laptop, the wifi network card gets disabled and not useable. Trying to enable it doesn't work.
I tried to update drivers, and check all webs on this issue but with no solution. Bios updated, Bluetooth works fine.
I use windows 8.1 64 bit. I installed power manager. No success ....
My laptop, an Inspiron 15R, will not turn on. When I press power button, it beeps 3 times. Owner manuel says 3 beep codes mean possible system board failure - chipset error. As luck would have it my warranty went out in December. Does this mean the hard drive on my computer has crashed?

View 7 Replies View RelatedI have a Vostro 1700 with Vista installed. When I got it I didn't want the Dell Mediadirect softare on there so reinstalled with those partitions removed and just Vista on there.
I also tried installing Windows XP to see how that worked on it; XP installed fine and worked well, but I had the problem that if I touched the Media Direct button it could knacker up the whole XP installation. Obviously,
I couldn't resist trying, and low and behold, when I pressed the button my XP installation was corrupted! (my original thread on it was here - New Vostro 1700 laptop! Why are there four partitions, and can I get rid of them?!)
I've really not liked Vista, and do want to get Windows 7 on the Vostro, but what I want to make sure before I pay out for Windows 7 is that I'm not going to have the same problem with that damn Media Direct button .....
I've got aproblem with my Vostro 3550 - Core i3.
Everytime i shut it down, windows shuts down correctly and the screen goes blank, BUT the power led still burns.
Also the power button is still lighted.
I can't switch it on using the power button. I've to unplug power or hold the power button for 4 sec.
Hardware test runs fine, no problems so far at all.
Nothing changed, only updates for windows.

View 8 Replies View RelatedA friend of mine has an Acer 7730 and I think his WiFi button is broke. Every time he presses it, it spouts a random set or r[]'s when the light flashes (every 5secs ish). It was suggested he had a virus and so a full reinstall was done, but now I've looked at it I think its a dodgy key! The original keyboard has been replaced as I think something was spilt on it, but of course the keys down the left are seperate.
So long story short, he cant get on the internet as pressing the key makes any text go rrrr[[[[[]]]]]] etc etc. Is there anyway to enable WiFi without this button? and can it be replaced?
Just got a new Latitude (my fourth this year), and when I toggle the switch on the side to turn it on/off, it doesnt turn off. The "WIFI" indicator light in the upper right side is also not turning off

View 3 Replies View RelatedI bought my Lenovo Y40 on the Lenovo Web site a couple months ago and recently, to turn on, I have to press the power button twice. When I press just once, the Lenovo`s logo is displayed on the screen, but after 2 seconds everything turns off. On the second trying, finally the laptop turns on and the windows is started.
In addition, rarely the laptop stucks on the lenovo`s logo screen, being necessary to hold on the power to reset it.
