L501X, working fine until this morning when I was unable to connect to the internet via my wireless connection. Two other laptops can connect as normal. If I hardwire the laptop the connection comes back. When I looked further into this I saw that the wifi was turned off. The problem is that the button in the Windows Mobility Center to turn the wifi on is greyed out and so I'm unable to turn it back on.

My windows crashed and I recovered it from the archive created a couple days prior to that. Archive included all hard drives data, so system was restored exactly as it was prior to the crash. I am still not sure if this caused the problem (or if the problem appeared after that): it happened a month ago, and I didn't have WiFi available back then, and only tried to turn it on a couple days ago.
Additional details:
In device manager wireless card is showing up as working normally. In adapter management wireless connection is turned on but says "no connection available". If I run the diagnostics, it asks me to turn on WIFI with a button on my laptop, which I cannot do. In mobility center it says "wireless connection is turned off". Turn on button is gray, and impossible to click on.
Things I already tried:
Reinstalled all HP drivers from the original CD;Removed WiFi card in windows device manager (deleted the device), restarted windows, installed new drivers for it, restarted again;Checked mobility center as was suggested in one of the threads found on this forum;Made a hard reset for HP laptop (removed battery, pressed on/off button for full minute).
I use compaq presario cq43. my wifi button(f12) and few other buttons like insert,delete is not working.
How can i turn my wifi on. is there any possible way to enable the hardware button ....
I'm runnng Windows 8 on a HP Pavillion g4. I was a playing a game with the wifi off, the lan wire connected, and the battery out, on high perfomance mode. The game crashed, I shut the laptop off by keeping to power button pressed. After starting it up again and trying to use wifi, I realized that pressing the wireless button would show "airplane mode off" on screen but it would not turn blue, nor would the wifi turn on.
After this, I attempted a system restore, repairing existing drivers, checking BIOS, and a hard reset by taking out the battery, pressing on the button for 30 seconds, and then starting up again. None of these methods have worked so far.
Unable to turn on wifi.I tried installing drivers of it by downloading from hp support for my model, even that didn't worked. Drivers installation failed. Even the hp utility provided in the support to automatically identify the hardware and laptop medel also failed to install. It is a new laptop.

i have a problem to turn on wi-fi or bluetooth, as that no indicator or notice when i press F12 button
I am having trouble with my wifi and bluetooth not working, it is (off) and is greyed out in the metro interface, so i can not turn it back on, i checked networking centre and it is enabled, i have tried to reformat the computer using lenovo "one key" and the problem is still there, i tried updating the driver but no joy, and i can find one by searching, I dont want to have to send this back as faulty to "john lewis" also the trouble shooter says the HW switch is not enabled, i have tried the airplane button, but it does not make any diference, there are no other buttons or switches to turn on bluetooth or wifi so i'm stumped.

Ok after 3 days of using the 1340 I just realized the button on the top panel that you can use to increase/decrease volume stopped working. I had updated the latest drivers from Dell site but not sure if that is the reason.
Also non of the other buttons that are for DVD work either. And I know they were working when I got the laptop and only thing I have done is update with latest drivers.
I have an Acer notebook and I really want to have wifi always on. I accidentally keep turning off the wifi every once in a while,

For about a month or so my Vostro V130 has not been turning on. Upon pushing the power button, the power button itself lights up for a second at most and then cuts right off. During this time, the screen remains black and nothing else occurs. I've tried turning it on while plugged in and charging and tried turning it on after being charged an hour or so. View 8 Replies View RelatedA friend of mine has an Acer 7730 and I think his WiFi button is broke. Every time he presses it, it spouts a random set or r[]'s when the light flashes (every 5secs ish). It was suggested he had a virus and so a full reinstall was done, but now I've looked at it I think its a dodgy key! The original keyboard has been replaced as I think something was spilt on it, but of course the keys down the left are seperate.
So long story short, he cant get on the internet as pressing the key makes any text go rrrr[[[[[]]]]]] etc etc. Is there anyway to enable WiFi without this button? and can it be replaced?

When I press just once, the Lenovo`s logo is displayed on the screen, but after 2 seconds everything turns off. On the second trying, finally the laptop turns on and the windows is started.
In addition, rarely the laptop stucks on the lenovo`s logo screen, being necessary to hold on the power to reset it.

I just bought my HP Pavilion 360 less than a month ago and it's only been used for schoolwork and research. No virus or threats were detected. It was working fine today until I had to charge it. When it was fully charged, I turned it on and the screen just froze. I tried shutting it down by pressing the power button but it didn't work. Problem : My wifi switch buton (f12) is not working . When i press it it doesn't work and the light still white not red . How can i do to fix this problem.
Laptop was working fine up until yesterday. Then this happened...
1. Pressed the power button to turn on the laptop
2.the fans run and the computer makes its usual whirring noises as it would normally do whilst booting up.
3.the screen however remains completely inactive. As if the laptop is off.
4. I turned it off and on again several times. Once it came on and worked as normal, I could access all files and backup everything.
5. This morning I turned it back on and it has done the same thing. Makes the sounds as normal but screen is inactive.
I have turned off and on again and connected an HDMI cable to an external screen but there is no signal.

On the Yoga 13, you can click anywhere EXCEPT the lower-right side of the button, where it instead registers a right-click. I have to be aware of where on the trackpad I can click and where I can't.
Any way to turn off the right-click area and just make the entire trackpad a left-click? I have already turned off the tap-click ability, so I'm just talking about clicks where you press the surface of the trackpad down.
