I've reinstalled windows and all drivers, but for some reason I can't get my keyboard function shortcutsto work (you know- the ones you have to hold the Fn key for).
View 2 RepliesThe company I work for just gave me a new Thinkpad T440P and I have a screen Brightness problem. the shortcuts on the keyboard doesn't work with or without the fn button and the brightness gauge doesn't show up in the power options too.
Someone suggested to that I should download and install the latest Intel HD Graphics Driver for Windows 7 from the support page [URL] ... but after the installation ended a pop up on my screen said that my Laptop doesn't have the minimum requirements for this driver! so who come it's in the drivers section for this model?

My Vostro V130 is overheating on heatsink and video out port. I open, clean thermal paste, add new thermal paste and the problem continues.
I change the OS to Windows 8 Pro.
For about a month or so my Vostro V130 has not been turning on. Upon pushing the power button, the power button itself lights up for a second at most and then cuts right off. During this time, the screen remains black and nothing else occurs. I've tried turning it on while plugged in and charging and tried turning it on after being charged an hour or so. Everything yields the same results.

View 5 Replies View RelatedI tried doing a clean install for my friend's Vaio VGN-FW463J/T. I left the hidden Sony recovery partition intact just in case something went wrong. I used a retail Vista x64 sp1 disk and installed it just fine. Then I started installing the drivers, but some of them wouldn't install. The Sony Shared Library starts to install, but then just disappears and doesn't say that it finished installing. The Sony notebook utilities doesn't install because I can't get Shared Library to install. A prompt says that it only works on vista, a message which causes me great confusion. But I can get the Sony Firmware Extension Parser Device Driver to install correctly. The problem is that the fn keys don't work.
And the Intel SATA Driver Registry Patch doesn't install. I think it's because I don't have the original drivers installed, or is this it? I'm missing something huge, aren't I?
I had to format my laptop Vostro 3450 but I cannot get which drivers I have to install to visualize screen icons when a function key is pressed.The keys are working, so if I press Fn+F2 i can switch on-off my wireless connection but before formatting a spash icon was appearing on the screen and now is not.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI did a clean install of Windows 7 and I was surprised that almost everything is working out of the gate. There are only a few bugs that I've noticed.
1.) The Fn functions in the F-keys don't work. Which driver do I need for that?
2.) Same thing goes for the Mode - - - - - Settings keys above that. Which driver fixes that?
3.) In the device manager I have and unknown "Base System Device" with the Location of "PCI bus 7, device 3, function 2". What is this/How do I fix it?
4.) The touchpad doesn't scroll. I tried installing the driver from the Sony eSupport page, but it failed. (I reinstalled and rebooted and it's working)
And not a bug, but just a straight up question...
5.) Should I install Sony Shared Library? Do I need it for anything? I really don't plan on installing any of the programs that came pre-installed with Vista, unless it's necessary.

Notebook used very little, so jam shocked at the dysfunction I've experience since a recent windows update. Was looped in a repair function, and I was able to restore. Now it powers on, fan runs but black screen and no keyboard function.

View 10 Replies View RelatedI have Dell Vostro V131 that I recently formatted. Now I have Windows 7 enterprise version. However, two of three USB ports did not work. I downloaded all the possible drivers that were available at Dell website. In the Device manager drivers for USB controller and one 'unidentified device' are missing that anyhow are not corrected.
Also, though the drivers for biometric devices are shown to be properly installed, but the device does not work.
Furthermore, external display through VGA port could not be connected, though HDMI port is working fine.
I have two seperate questions to ask, so will post them seperately.
I have a Vostro 1700 with a 250gb drive in it. When I bought it I had a problem with the laptop and managed to get a hard drive caddy free from Dell, so just need the drive. I know it needs to be a SATA 2.5 drive, but will any drive fit, or do I need to go for any specific ones? Is the Vostro SataII?
I have a Dell Vostro 1000 and my SD card slot will not work. My brother has the SAME exact one as I do and his works.
I tried my same card on his and it worked fine. We ordered the laptops together, added the same stuff just changed the quantity.
My Dell Vostro 1500 is not charging while plugged in. I get the following error message- The AC power adapter type cannot be determined.
Your system will operate slower and the battery will not charge. Please connect a Dell 90W AC adapter or higher for best system operation.
I have the Dell 90W adapter. On googling this problem I found out that the problem is with a circuit in the adapter that breaks and the adapter doesn't recognize
it as an original Dell. the only solution seems to be to replace the adapter. However I don't want to spend $70+ if its going to happen again in a few months. So I am thinking of buying a generic one on eBay

I have a Dell Vostro 3300. Windows 7 OS. Hard drive went out. Replaced hard drive. Reinstalled Windows 7. Used backup system disk that I made with Recovery Manager back in December 2012. It looked like it was working properly, but after using all backup disks, got message image could not be applied. Started over, reinstalled Windows 7. Put in #1 backup system disk. When drop down box is displayed asking which backup to use, I choose 12-29-2012 like I did before. Nothing happens. It just sits there. Next button can not be used (it is greyed out).

Also, the touchpad will keep freezing periodically. And this problem is aggravated when the laptop is on battery power.
I contacted dell support and they replaced the touchpad but the problem still persists. And now every time I contact dell,
they basically give me the same steps to follow each time and none of them really work.
I'm just wondering which specific Vostro model's keyboard will be completely compatible connection-wise.

what does "pry up" mean?I think I shoud be lifting up something metallic (the keyboard frame) not the flimsy pastic that surrounds the keys right? do I need to do all 4 snaps at once? when I push with a screwdriver I can't feel which way it's supposed to give and don't want to damage the laptop
need of a new notebook, and I'm thinking about trying out Apple for once. But the funny thing is that because of work I plan to run Windows 7 x64 almost exclusively on the MBP.
Before you think "no point in getting a Mac" or something, I've thought this out.
But what I can't figure out...is how to you install Windows 7 x64. I've read that x64 doesn't have driver support and/or there are problems with x64 and EFI. I also can't figure out how I would go 'Home' or a 'Page Up' or a 'Page Down' or to the 'End' from within Windows 7. 'Delete' and 'Backspace' are a concern too, but I seem to have found out how to do that already. I live by these keys (yes, I'm a PC ) and I need them.
I had a motherboard put in not long after I got it in 2007. Then the screen started going blue and saying it was dumping files. If anything is plugged into the USB ports it will not boot right and starts a constant beep. Lately it has been freezing up and the keyboard will not always work. Now when I try to turn it on nothing comes up on the screen while the bluetooth light comes on and the lights on the keyboard flash once. I have called tech numerous times and with it being out of warranty they want to charge $60 just for a phone diagnosis when it won't even do anything.
