View 1 RepliesI have a problem with my Dell XPS L701X, I bought it 1 year ago. But since a few days my laptop Beep's 8 times at the start-up. when it does I ussualy just power off my laptop because of the annoying sound, and turn it back on. Once I powered it on and off for 3-4 times it doesn't beep anymore an works fine. I already searched the internet and I found that someting could be wrong with the GPU or something. And it said I had to hold down the D button at start-up so I could check if my colors where right.

View 3 Replies View RelatedDell Inspiron M5010 is not powering up anymore: I get 7 beeps on startup and my screen remains black.
I already read other posts and have removed battery, power buttom for 30 seconds. etc. It didn't work and I have not tried anything else.
One post talked about removing/replace the internal battery and another talked about remove/replace memory.
What is this the logical progression of things I should try before the Big Hammer?
I have a dell 5010 and it went black screen as I was using it. I powered it down by holding the power button and then tried to rebot. The laptop power led goes on, the hard drive led flickers once and the fan goes on but slow. The screen stays black and the laptop does not booth. It then sometimes bleeps times over and over. Is it dead? How can I fix this or at least recover the data in the hard drive? Â

View 1 Replies View Related I've been the ONLY owner of this laptop!  So I go to change the info to me but it's still not showing up.  Yesterday I went to turn on my laptop to do my  homework and it would only power on and beep at me 7 times. My warranty has run out and I can't afford a brand new laptop, but I need something since I'm taking online classes.
View 8 Replies View RelatedMy Dell Inspiron N5110 beeps 5 times for 5 times in a row when I boot up my computer. I ran a system scan everything passed except it said to launch window memory test.
Did that and it also said it passed. I did a code search and have not been able to fing anything with 5 beeps, 5 times in a row.
When turning on the computer,  I press the start button and I get the black screen with the words "Starting Windows" in the middle of the screen. As soon as the "Starting Windows" appears, the computer begins to beep continuously with short but fast-paced beeps. The beeping continues until the colored Windows Logo appears above the white words "Starting Windows" and then the beeping stops. The computer completes its start up and seems to operate normally. I did not time the beeping but I counted about 270 beeps. None of the keyboard keys seem to be stuck. I did remove and replace the battery which seemed to fix the problem on the very next start-up but when I shut the computer down and started it up the second time the beeping problem returned.

Yesterday the laptops wifi adapter stopped working.. Then after sometime the laptop started to give 5 beeps on startup.. The beeps continued even after Windows was running.. And now the computer doesn't turn on.. The fan and stuff turns on but nothing is displayed on the screen.. Also there are no beeps anymore!
View 3 Replies View RelatedMy Inspiron N7010 was working fine until 2 days ago. I had it playing a movie through the HDMI port to my TV & then the video started to freeze up. Starting the next day, when I tried to start it up, it beeps 8 times & goes to a black screen, then eventually it turns off. I opened it up & re-seated the CMOS battery & checked all the ribbons. Tried holding the "d" key while powering on, the screen cycles through the colors & then goes black & powers off. Tried connecting to 2 different external monitors, could not get a picture on either.
View 1 Replies View RelatedI shutdown my laptop yesterday normally and today when i tried opening it it gives me a blank black screen, and then in a minute or so it makes 2 beep sounds and that's it...
things i've tried that didn't work :
1)disconnecting battery and pressing the power button for 60 seconds
2)placing a magnet on the spot where the switching lid should be
I have a Dell Vostro 3550 that I booted up this morning and received 8 beeps on startup with no video being displayed. After reading the forums here is what I have done and the reults:
Boot up with External Monitor
Can log in and run computer, laptop still beeps 8 times for several times then stops beeping
Drain residual power from the laptop
Restart computer and still beeps 8 times without vidoe
Run LCD BIST
Nothing displayed.
Run F12 Diagnostics
Error Code: 2000-0415
Validation: 58622
I am assuming I have a faulty LCD Screen and/or cable but want to be sure of this before spending the money as this laptop is no longer under warranty.
For some reason my Dell INSPIRON N5110 is not booting up correctly. Â When I start it up the screen remains black for some time and starts to beep 4 times. I did do my research and knw that it is a read / write RAM error according to the beep code table for dell laptops. I did attempt to change the RAM sticks but it didnt work.Â
View 4 Replies View RelatedHad this happen to me this morning. Guy in Dell centre said it was a processor failure.
Like others have said about their M5010's mine is a little over 2 years old and out of warranty.
I have a dell Inspiron 15 N5010 which is about 4 years old. It was working properly, but suddenly it went off and when i restarted it, there was nothing which appeared on screen, but  there was a beep sound which went on until i turned my laptop off. Even the startup screen didnt appeared during this. The power button lights up, fan is running, but the screen is not coming up.
I have noticed one thing also, if i put it on for long time, so that it gains enough heat due to constatnt running and then I restart it, the screen will come. and after sometime, the screen distorts and after few seconds, the laptop screen turns black and the beep sound appears which start crying until i turn laptop off.
My father’s notebook has been acting up for awhile. It beeps continuously at startup.
You would have to "F2" to the BIOS then exit the BIOS, then start up screen to come up again, beeps again repeat "F2" back to BIOS, but eventually XP would load. Unfortunately everything was sluggish, keyboard wouldn’t work right. So in my limited computer knowledge I decided to reformat the notebook. I could not find any back up disk that came with the notebook so I created a back up disk from factory settings via the Acer eRecovery Management process. I have ran this recovery disk twice. Both times I have installed the recovery disk I get NTLDR missing as well as the beeps have not gone away. From some online research beeps mean computer is telling us something is wrong with the hardware. Number of beeps tells what specifically; unfortunately I can’t find what continuous beeping means. NTLDR missing I found usually means that the computer is looking in the wrong place for the file.
I have no idea what I should do next to resolve the problem. Should I go out and buy an OME copy of XP Pro. Will friends XP Pro disks work as long as I use the XP Key found on the bottom of my laptop? How can i figure what hardware is causing the notebook to beep?
Ideally what I would like to achieve is a clean install with the most limited amount of Acer bloat ware installed. I am trying to find a list of what programs are needed and what programs are bloatware.
I have an HP Pavillion dv6040 laptop, 3 years old. Today, after 3 years of nearly flawless operation, it will not start. It gives 1 long and 2 short beeps, and then nothing. The lights turn on, the fans run, but the screen remains off (black with the backlight off).
I believe it is a video problem (looked up the beeps online). The laptop has an Nvidia GeForce 7200 Graphics card.
Or does anyone know if it's possible to replace the video card in such a laptop?
I've had my Dell L701X for over two years now and I've had some trouble with the wireless adapter before, particularly within the last 6 months.Â
Recently, the wireless adapter has been disappearing from the device manager and I have had to resort to a wired connection. The adapter has been disappearing completely from the device manager and I am not sure why. I have tried reinstalling the Intel drivers for the wireless card but that hasn't solved the problem.
The components list for my laptop on the Dell website under components says I have the Intel WiFi Link 6200 (802.11a/g/n) Half Mini-card. Also if I use the wireless hardware switch it seems to be turning the Bluetooth connection on and off in the network adapters.
Currently running Windows 8 but have also had the problem while running Windows 7.
I purchased 2 OCZ Vertex 4 512GB SSD drives from Dell and installed them. After installing them and doing some troubleshooting is seems like the 2nd HD bay is not allowing the BIOS to recognizing either of the SSDs, both of which are working(recognized by BIOS) if plugged into the 1st HD bay. It almost seems like there is just a little more gap in the connection with the 2nd HD bay connection, but that may just be me wanting to see a reason for the issue.
If either is put into HD bay 1 they are recognized fine. When either is plugged in the 2nd HD bay they are not recognized by BIOS. I have the latest BIOS (A10) for this laptop. The original setup was with 2 HDDs(trying to replace with SSD now). If I put the original HDD in Bay 2 it is fine. The little gap when the HDD is installed in bay 2 seems to be similar as the gap with the SSD in bay 2, but perhaps a very bit smaller.
I have all the updated drivers from Dell. I am just wondering if it is a connection issue that is just causing it not to be recognized
I have an XPS L701x that will automatically go into sleep mode after only a couple of minutes of using the system, and won't "wake up" unless I remove the battery and reboot it. I've checked my power settings and they show "Never" on going into sleep mode.
View 1 Replies View RelatedI'm trying to do a factory restore on a 2010 Dell XPS L701X using the Dell Datasafe Backup. When booting, I choose to restore to factory condition/setup. At 55% of reformatting I keep getting an error, the error reads, "Error Ox001100200001005". It will not go farther, when I click OK, the computer simply reboots and the cycle starts all over again.
View 3 Replies View RelatedWhen I first loaded up my Vaio the Startup Assistant booted by itself and I unchecked the box to stop booting on startup. After the while the Startup Assistant started booting up by itself even though the box is still unchecked. I thought by recovering to factory settings and unchecking the box would fix it but it has started booting up again.
how I can get rid of the Vaio software?
My brand new m1330 (I've had it less than a week) has been making a high pitched beeping noise completely randomly. I havn't noticed any pattern in when it makes the noise either, whether it be plugged in, on battery, plugged in without a battery, battery settings on power saver, battery settings on performance, none of it makes a difference.
The kind of beep seems random as well, sometimes it is a single beep, other times it is a few beeps strung together like a chirping noise.
Nothing happens on screen when the beeps occur either. I've done some googling, and cant find an answer to why its beeping.
I guess my primary concern would be if this is a problem, and if i need to contact dell about it. Or, if anyone else has experienced this, and whether or not there is an easy fix for it. Its kind of annoying, and I've gotten a few funky looks in class.
i have a dell inspiron 15 which wont post .The unit is powered on the backlight is on but screen is blank (black) and then the dell just beeps 8 times and each beep is less louder than the last till it reaches the 8th beep.

I am very upset that my expensive Dell laptop has stopped working when it's less than 2 years old. When I turn it on it beeps 8 times and does this over and over Nothing comes up on screen just black? A friend said I need a new board thing as video card is on that.
