Dell Inspiron M5010 is not powering up anymore: I get 7 beeps on startup and my screen remains black.
I already read other posts and have removed battery, power buttom for 30 seconds. etc. It didn't work and I have not tried anything else.
One post talked about removing/replace the internal battery and another talked about remove/replace memory.
What is this the logical progression of things I should try before the Big Hammer?
I've been the ONLY owner of this laptop!  So I go to change the info to me but it's still not showing up.  Yesterday I went to turn on my laptop to do my  homework and it would only power on and beep at me 7 times. My warranty has run out and I can't afford a brand new laptop, but I need something since I'm taking online classes.
View 8 Replies View RelatedJust two days ago I was using my laptop then turned it off like any other day. Later in the day I proceeded to turn it back on and received the dreadful 7 beeps with a blank screen. For the time that I've had it, I've taken good care of it, (never dropping it etc.) I have read on some of these forums that the 7 beeps could mean a bad motherboard/processor.
View 2 Replies View RelatedI understand this is a processor problem. I powered off, disconnected battery, drained all power, still won't power on. Is there anything else I can try?

View 3 Replies View RelatedI have had this laptop for about two years and when I went to switch it on this morning I got the black screen and seven beeps which seems to be a recuuring fault with DEL laptops. What can I do?
View 2 Replies View RelatedI turned on my laptop and started getting the 7 beeps. This seems to be an issue with alot of M5010's Is Dell going to do anything about this for its users?

I'm no longer covered by warranty, as I purchased this laptop over 3 years ago. Â What other options do I have to fix my laptop? Â Ideally, I'd like to recovery everything on my hard-drive, even if the laptop itself no longer works.
I recently went to turn on my computer, Dell's Inspiron M5010, today and was surprised to hear it beeping. After I got out from behind cover, i logged onto another computer in the house. Counting 7 short beeps, I have come to learn that there must be an issue with with either the processor or the motherboard. This is the point where I am at currently. I would like to know the next step to take from this point, whether buying a simple new part would do the trick, or if it is time to turn it into a scrap heap and get something new. I suppose there could be some further testing whether it is either the processor or the motherboard with the issue.
View 15 Replies View Relatedwhat's the problem with my laptop? It's dell insiron 15 m5010. when I press the start botton nothing shows and it beeps 7 times, stops 2 seconds and beeps again?

View 3 Replies View RelatedI have a dell 5010 and it went black screen as I was using it. I powered it down by holding the power button and then tried to rebot. The laptop power led goes on, the hard drive led flickers once and the fan goes on but slow. The screen stays black and the laptop does not booth. It then sometimes bleeps times over and over. Is it dead? How can I fix this or at least recover the data in the hard drive? Â
View 5 Replies View RelatedI insert a memory stick to laptops backside usb drive then the other usb drive that im using for mouse becomes off. This failure occurs after that 5 beeps 3 times in a row at startup... What can i do ....
View 1 Replies View RelatedMy Dell Inspiron N5110 beeps 5 times for 5 times in a row when I boot up my computer. I ran a system scan everything passed except it said to launch window memory test.
Did that and it also said it passed. I did a code search and have not been able to fing anything with 5 beeps, 5 times in a row.
When turning on the computer,  I press the start button and I get the black screen with the words "Starting Windows" in the middle of the screen. As soon as the "Starting Windows" appears, the computer begins to beep continuously with short but fast-paced beeps. The beeping continues until the colored Windows Logo appears above the white words "Starting Windows" and then the beeping stops. The computer completes its start up and seems to operate normally. I did not time the beeping but I counted about 270 beeps. None of the keyboard keys seem to be stuck. I did remove and replace the battery which seemed to fix the problem on the very next start-up but when I shut the computer down and started it up the second time the beeping problem returned.
View 4 Replies View RelatedYesterday the laptops wifi adapter stopped working.. Then after sometime the laptop started to give 5 beeps on startup.. The beeps continued even after Windows was running.. And now the computer doesn't turn on.. The fan and stuff turns on but nothing is displayed on the screen.. Also there are no beeps anymore!
View 3 Replies View RelatedMy Inspiron N7010 was working fine until 2 days ago. I had it playing a movie through the HDMI port to my TV & then the video started to freeze up. Starting the next day, when I tried to start it up, it beeps 8 times & goes to a black screen, then eventually it turns off. I opened it up & re-seated the CMOS battery & checked all the ribbons. Tried holding the "d" key while powering on, the screen cycles through the colors & then goes black & powers off. Tried connecting to 2 different external monitors, could not get a picture on either.
View 1 Replies View RelatedFor some reason my Dell INSPIRON N5110 is not booting up correctly. Â When I start it up the screen remains black for some time and starts to beep 4 times. I did do my research and knw that it is a read / write RAM error according to the beep code table for dell laptops. I did attempt to change the RAM sticks but it didnt work.Â
View 4 Replies View RelatedHad this happen to me this morning. Guy in Dell centre said it was a processor failure.
Like others have said about their M5010's mine is a little over 2 years old and out of warranty.
I have a dell Inspiron 15 N5010 which is about 4 years old. It was working properly, but suddenly it went off and when i restarted it, there was nothing which appeared on screen, but  there was a beep sound which went on until i turned my laptop off. Even the startup screen didnt appeared during this. The power button lights up, fan is running, but the screen is not coming up.
I have noticed one thing also, if i put it on for long time, so that it gains enough heat due to constatnt running and then I restart it, the screen will come. and after sometime, the screen distorts and after few seconds, the laptop screen turns black and the beep sound appears which start crying until i turn laptop off.
My laptop dell xps l701x get 5 beeps repeatly on startup , i can not do anything else to enter bios or start windows
View 1 Replies View Relatedin February 2013, I bought 2 Inspiron R17-5720 in Amazon. Now, in both laptops, it is impossible to boot the machine.
When I power on, appears the Dell logo and nothing more.
I run the CD Utilities and I got the following message:
Error code 4C00:0320
MSG:SYSTEM:CMOS failed the pattern test.
I shutdown my laptop yesterday normally and today when i tried opening it it gives me a blank black screen, and then in a minute or so it makes 2 beep sounds and that's it...
things i've tried that didn't work :
1)disconnecting battery and pressing the power button for 60 seconds
2)placing a magnet on the spot where the switching lid should be
I have a Dell Vostro 3550 that I booted up this morning and received 8 beeps on startup with no video being displayed. After reading the forums here is what I have done and the reults:
Boot up with External Monitor
Can log in and run computer, laptop still beeps 8 times for several times then stops beeping
Drain residual power from the laptop
Restart computer and still beeps 8 times without vidoe
Run LCD BIST
Nothing displayed.
Run F12 Diagnostics
Error Code: 2000-0415
Validation: 58622
I am assuming I have a faulty LCD Screen and/or cable but want to be sure of this before spending the money as this laptop is no longer under warranty.
My father’s notebook has been acting up for awhile. It beeps continuously at startup.
You would have to "F2" to the BIOS then exit the BIOS, then start up screen to come up again, beeps again repeat "F2" back to BIOS, but eventually XP would load. Unfortunately everything was sluggish, keyboard wouldn’t work right. So in my limited computer knowledge I decided to reformat the notebook. I could not find any back up disk that came with the notebook so I created a back up disk from factory settings via the Acer eRecovery Management process. I have ran this recovery disk twice. Both times I have installed the recovery disk I get NTLDR missing as well as the beeps have not gone away. From some online research beeps mean computer is telling us something is wrong with the hardware. Number of beeps tells what specifically; unfortunately I can’t find what continuous beeping means. NTLDR missing I found usually means that the computer is looking in the wrong place for the file.
I have no idea what I should do next to resolve the problem. Should I go out and buy an OME copy of XP Pro. Will friends XP Pro disks work as long as I use the XP Key found on the bottom of my laptop? How can i figure what hardware is causing the notebook to beep?
Ideally what I would like to achieve is a clean install with the most limited amount of Acer bloat ware installed. I am trying to find a list of what programs are needed and what programs are bloatware.
I have an HP Pavillion dv6040 laptop, 3 years old. Today, after 3 years of nearly flawless operation, it will not start. It gives 1 long and 2 short beeps, and then nothing. The lights turn on, the fans run, but the screen remains off (black with the backlight off).
I believe it is a video problem (looked up the beeps online). The laptop has an Nvidia GeForce 7200 Graphics card.
Or does anyone know if it's possible to replace the video card in such a laptop?
My Inspiron M5010 keeps having an issue with accepting the power chord I have. I don't understand what is wrong. It is the same power chord the laptop came with, but every time I plug it in the message pops up stating it cannot charge using this power chord and I need to get a 65W or higher to charge it with.Â
This is the exact mesaage: "The AC power adapter type cannot be determined. Your system will operate slower and the battery will not charge. Please connect a Dell 65W AC adapter or higher for best system operation."
Sometimes it doesn't even acknowledge that its plugged in.
