i never got through Dell customer care officer on phone..
its always busy and says 'we will b with u shortly' bull !!
I have had my M1330 (yes the one with the NVIDIA 8400M chip) have had no major problems to date. However, two days ago I had some touchpad issues i.e. a sluggish, unresponsive touchpad so I decided to contact Dell. The experience was really good I go an agent by the name of Mr. Abdul Aleem who was really friendly and provided me with a form to transfer my ownership and then he fixed the issue.
Now earlier this year I contacted Dell about another machine and this wacko was telling me that since I bought the laptop at Best Buy I should go to Best Buy to deal with warranty issues despite the laptop having 1 year basic warranty from Dell.
So I was very pleased with the interaction with Mr. Aleem.
So this a thread to share your experiences with Dell's Customer Care.
My wife had a D430 die on her last month. It was still under the next business day on site warranty. But Dell insisted we ship it back to them for repairs.
We opened the support case on April 13th. They sent us a box overnight, we shipped the laptop back to them. They emailed on April 26th (13 days later on a next business day warranty) that the machine is beyond repair and they will replace it under complete care.
So I receive a package from Dell on April 27th, thinking it was the replacement. But no, it was the dead hard drive fro her old machine. for some reason they shipped it back to us.
Still no news from them on when we can expect to receive a replacement system. Also the online support status page now can't find our support case either by service tag, or case #. and the warranty page shows the service tag does not have any valid warranty associated with it anymore. (it was under warranty until September of this year).
Just had a quick question. How long does it usually take for the replacement system to be shipped, and is it overnight shipping with tracking?
Dell kinda left me in the dark on this one...
Also, I had a upper range m1210, might I get an m1330 as the replacement?
when I purchased Studio XPS Laptop - 1640 (I am in India), I was very very happy at that time!
Till June 2009, I was using USB modem to connect to internet, But then I switched to LAN and Wifi and PC started getting locked. Also, My DVD burner doesnt work. Not only this, My Dell Touchpad doesnt work correctly at all! Even, Eject button doesnt work.
After talking to technician it is confirmed that there are many hardware problems! He said that someone will come to my house today and will replace motherboard, some panel thing and DVD burner and will check touchpad.
Till now no has come, I think may be tomorrow someone will come.
Also, they said that they can not replace my laptop and if problems occurs even after replacing parts they will not help me anymore.
I got this computer like two, three months ago and it sucks. Sometimes while I am using the built in mouse my pc will autmatically zoom in on the screen. Sometimes it freezes and I can't use the mouse and I will have to click another screen to get it to work.
It runs slow. In the beginning it would constantly blue screen or have to system restore. Also the speakers suck. Sometimes while outside or other places trying to listen to the speakers they only go so loud.
I called Dell and they said it's a software issue and they need money to help me. Best Buy would probably charge me the same thing after I already shelled out over a thousand buying the computer and warranty.
Sometimes I just want to throw this pc over the balcony so I can get a new one but how do you explain that right? Anyways if someone could help me with these problems I would really appreciate it.
I just got my new Studio XPS 1640 in the mail today and got a little excited. I started tweaking stuff galore, following the variety of vista tweaking thread for reducing boot time, speeding up your comp etc... but I think I must have screwed something up because the computer started lagging like crazy. i couldn't even navigate in "My Computer"
So me, being all excited and dumb decided that I would reinstall Vista and partition my C drive (which is a 256gb SSD btw, if that's important), instead of learning about the Factory Image Restore.
So now my screen resolution sucks, and I'm frustrated and tired of trying to fix this. I just want it back to how it was before, fresh out of the box. I have the Vista CD and The Driver CD, and I tried installing every damned driver and application and whatever, but it's never the same as it came out of the box.
I can't find the webcam or facial recognition software anywhere and I'm missing the cool dock at the top and bleh. I'll stop ranting, but if anyone. ANYONE, knows how to help me I would greatly appreciate it. I just want the good laptop that I paid 2000$ for.
I just got the XPS 1340 as a replacement from Dell and it came with Vista 32bit i requested a 64 bit disk and loaded it all up.
All the drivers are back on and the audio is absolutely terrible. It crackles and skips. I am using iTunes to play music
India mentioned about, "from dual core i5 processor upto quad core i7" for their SXPS 164x series, they have only option for quad core i7 processors available during customization and there is no trace of i5
View 7 Replies View RelatedHow many of you have ordered the laptop from India? What is your experience?
I ordered on 13th November and got an EDD of 26th November. Called them up on 26th November and they said it will definitely come on 1st December and offered me a free blutooth headphones.
I called yesterday and today and the dell representative is not picking up her phone. Called the direct number and they said it hasn't come cause of a change in shipping address. I never once changed my shipping address.
My Studio 1555 is being replaced because of an overheating issue.I would be glad if someone could post any experience with Dell India regarding replacement. Are they efficient and do they make sure that the new one is problem free?
Also,I read on some other forums about them offering freebies with replacements...like an extended complete cover n stuff...now,now I'm not being greedy but the way I got a screwed up laptop from Dell,it wouldn't hurt to strike a good bargain the second time around
I just ordered SXPS 1645...my dream laptop. I was just wondering how many in India have ordered this computer? How was thier overall shipping experience? How many delays and everything.
Also how is the laptop...any issues with the new one?
I spoke to Dell India today and received a quote from them regarding Studio 15...but surprisingly they say that they don't have drivers for XP/Linux...
I know that the laptop comes with Vista Premium but I thought I could always change it later if I wanted to...whats this weird thing about not providing drivers for other OS?
Could someone from India who's got Studio 15 help me out?
I was on a friend's brand-new inspiron 1525 today. After I began using it, I immediately noticed just how awful the touchpad is.
It is extremely inprecise. It's almost as if the sensitivity is constantly changing as I use the touchpad. I don't remember if I tried adjusting the settings; if I did, it didn't help.
I soon discovered that if you move your finger in a perfectly straight horizontal motion across the touchpad (no vertical motion), the cursor, as it's moving across the screen, will also 'bounce" up and down, getting worse towards the right side of the tochpad.
It doesn't abruptly jump at all; rather, it's as if the linearity of the touchpad is WAY off.
I'm new to this site and I'm quite surprised at the vastness of 'online' knowledge and happy to have learnt so much from the other threads ! Thanks !
But, I couldnt find any info on the new ATI 5000 series notebook GPU's in the Indian context. So
The DELL Studio series now comes with the HD 5470, which according to tha GPU benchmark isn't good enough for gaming. (The studio 17 here still carries the 4670, but, the better 5650 in UK) .
http://www.notebookcheck.net/Compute...s.13849.0.html
A studio
15 core i5-540M(2.53Ghz,4 Thread,turbo boost to 3.06 GHz, 3MB cache),
4GB 1333MHz DDR3,
ATI Mobility Radeon HD 5470,
320GB 7200rpm,
1080p LED Full-HD dispaly,
backlit keyboard & 1 year CCADP
costs INR 59,000 (excluding only delivery)
Should I go for it or wait for them to upgrade the studio 17 to the better 5650 graphics ? (portability isn't an issue for me so the 17 is fine too ). IMO the price is too high. But I would like to know the opinion of you folk ! Are there any better alternatives(I doubt !)................
What exactly is XPS customer service anyway? It's certainly not as good as Small & Medium Business customer service .....
View 6 Replies View RelatedDo the Studio XPS machines get the customer support that the standard XPS machines do? That is, the American customer/tech support rather than the outsourced one?
View 10 Replies View RelatedI need to tell anyone and everyone before you buy any Dell and there so called WARRENTY.
this is an accually forem post and Dell's reply to me.. I'ts Unbelievable........................................
Well, I think it's more usual for people to leave comments over bad experiences than good experiences, so I think it would be good to do it.
Few days ago I had a problem with a XPS 1330 which suddenly stopped working. Something related with a shortcircuit with the power supply.
I checked guarantee and happily found that I bought the 3 year extended guarantee with the laptop and it was on the third year so i called customer support and after some small checks they decided it had to do with the motherboard so they ordered a replacement for me for the next day.
I even messed with the asking to come later as I wanted to backup data (just for security). Did the backup and called them again few days later. Again I had no problem, next day a technician came to my home and changed the motherboard. In matter of minutes i had the laptop working again.
I had a positive experience with Dell
1st time my Son broke his mouse button on his 1501
Called Dell, within 40 minutes he had a RMA box being sent out, he got the Day after and sent his computer in within 10 days it was back in his hands fixed 0 money out of his pocket.
2nd and 3rd I had onsite warranty service the person was prompt nice and did a great job. I was satisfied, 3 day turn around on that.
4th time I have this 1555, I used the chat yesterday morning, it was faster then calling, within 40 Minutes it was agreed the laptop needed to be fixed, my space bar had popped off twice and I noticed it looked warped, I need this laptop so I agreed to the extra cost of onsite this time, no only was it promised this week but they came today, next day and replaced the keyboard within 40 minutes this am. I thought it was worth the extra.
now fixed and totally satisfied.
Of course I know Dell can screw up but lets be honest there are times they do not and we need balance at times.
I'm in the process of ordering a Dell Studio 17 with:
CA Sales Dinker 1307
I've customized my order, and then gave it to him, which was a grand total of 1313.50$.
This conversation has been going on for 30 minutes because he keeps adding items I told him I do not want, and now he refuses to remove them.
He's been adding Office and Anti Virus software and now he refuses to remove it. He keeps trying to upsell me 6GB of Ram and I told him I only want 4GB of ram.
It's not just the typical "oooh they're all indian" thing. I'm very tolerable of their accents and they've done well emulating english as best they can.
But sometimes they can't understand me and I have to repeat myself a lot.
But the more important issue is that sometimes they're just plain stupid. I'm not saying they're actually unintelligent I just mean they're programmed to go by scripts and pass the buck CONSTANTLY. They never know what I'm talking about even though it's their own company.
They always transfer me to someone new who knows nothing .....
I keep hearing horror stories about consumer customer support and higher praise of business support.
My question is where does the support for a system such as the Studio XPS 16 fall in. I here that the XPS line has better support, but does that make a difference if I order it from the consumer (Home) section?
Without boring you with all the details I wanted to inform this community of the wonderfully painful experience I had with Customer Support when I ordered my studio 17.
First it was a month lead time on a custom build. This I can understand since I did order it at the beginning of the school year.
So on the day it was supposed to ship they called me and told me it wasn't shipping because the screen was back-ordered and they had no idea when I would get it .....
I called HP to try and get a quote on the envy 15, unsurprisingly I get a foreign sales rep. I tell them I'm trying to get a quote to compare prices between this and the m15x which is almost the same price. Dell customer support had no trouble understanding this and talked with me. The HP rep was literally just telling me things I could find on the website I've called HP 3 times and I get a bad rep each one.
View 6 Replies View RelatedMy laptop is an inspiron 1520, about a year old now. Ever since I've had it, the hard disk drive has been making a loud, random click from time to time. Sometimes, it will click twice in the space of two minutes, sometimes it will click only once in two or three days.
Typically it's simply a loud snapping sound, like if you get a pencil and snap it against a wooden desk. It doesn't make any other sounds besides the usual hard drive sounds.
For about a quarter of a second, the system pauses. I think it's related to heat, as it happens most often while playing a graphic-intensive game.
I bought this Incase Slider case for my iphone last August directly from Apple. The case has cracked. Incase wants a copy of my receipt, which I don't have. Any way to contact Apple to get a copy?
View 8 Replies View RelatedI just got my new x100e laptop today, and i really like it. But, it has a problem.
I am connected to my wireless network at home, and it works properly on my other computers at house. But on the x100e, the connection drops from time to time. Suddenly, the internet is gone, but ten seconds later, the network is back up again.
It's not that big a problem, but it is frustrating to lose the internet from time to time. It happens from every 5 minutes to once 30 minutes.
It really annoys me that my new laptop, (Just a week old) when turned on takes a very long time before it starts. After the HP logo, it will show a blank page where my cursor can be moved, then it will stay a very a long time so I end up shutting it down then turning on again and again until it finally starts up. This really takes a lot of my time specially I use my laptop for work.
View 6 Replies View RelatedI wanted to share my recent experience with HP and to serve as a warning for anyone else planning on checking out the hp envy 15. I was one of the first to buy the envy from the day it was launched back in fall of last year, but had to return it due to a bad gpu. That was fine and the return went alright, and I ordered the 2nd gen one the day it was announced as well and I got it with the new core i5 processor and matte screen. The laptop was delayed in its delivery like many of the other members here and I got it around the beginning of February (so about a 1 month delay). Of course HP had no problem in charging me within hours of me placing the order and 1 month out from when I would actually receive it due to their own delays.
Since then it had been running just fine for the most part, with just a lot of heat build-up when playing any sort of game. Eventually however there seems to have been some longer-term repercussions due to the heat, namely that the edges started to expand out and peel away from the case. This led to the edges starting to chip off (I'm talking about the bright silver plastic edge that outlines the laptop). I published an early review for the envy 15 for the first gen model in case you wanted pictures of the palmrest edges. I could clearly see in at least one corner that due to heat build-up it seemed as though the adhesive that was holding the plastic edge to the main case was getting loose and as a result of the plastic was bulging out........
