I just bought a HP Notebook PC 15-g013dx at Best Buy. They assured me it was 5Ghz wireless WiFi compatible. But only the 2.4 from the router shows up as an available connection.
My wife's old iPad can access the 5Ghz. I'm a tech dummy so I don't know if I have to download a driver or something? Or do I need some kind of adapter?
I have recently had my broadband upgraded to 5Ghz 100mbps however my HP ENVY m6-1310sa can't detect the 5G band. I just want to know if it has the right network card to do this, my laptop supports 802.11n which should be able to,yet still can't detect the 5ghz, whereas my phone and tablet can detect it.

I tried to check my wireless network software update and that too is up to date. My colleague suggested me to attach an external dual band wireless dongal. Is that possible to replace the network card with a dual band one if this machine does not have that one. I am really annoyed with my laptop wifi. It is working with 2.4GHz wifi signal, but due to interference problem as stated by internet provider it is not working at good speed and speed fluctuates a lot.

I set up the router and worked out the kinks and updated the software. My laptop finds and connects with the 2.5GHz Band anywhere in the house. My laptop does not even find or see the 5GHz Band. However my Galaxy Tablet finds both bands and can connect with both, thought the 5GHz seems weaker.
I noticed that my Galaxy Tablet finds a lot more wi fi networks than my laptop (that are in houses around the street). I believe my laptop should find the 5Ghz Band and be able to connect. So I'm hoping this is a software or driver issue, and just a setting that needs to be adjusted. I don't know much about Wi Fi drivers, but I"m a Vista survivor, so I should be able to solve this.
I don't even know what program runs the WiFi software on my laptop? Or where to find it?
I have the HP G72 Notebook PC and it operates on the windows 7 home premium 64-bit operating system. I was once able to get on my internet without any issues. I changed my carrier to uverse and was still able to connect for a week or two and then one day my computer says that no internet connection is found. Other computers connect just fine except mine's. I made sure that the wireless key was engaged and it was.
I then tried to restore my computer to an earlier date in hopes that whatever happened would be reversed. The system wouldn't allow it and wouldn't complete the request. Now When trouble shooting i also get the following message. "an error occurred while loading the troubleshooter: An unexpected error has occurred. the troubleshooting wizard can't continue." The only thing that I remember doing before this problem occurred was changing from google internet surfing to explore. It work for a short time thereafter and then stopped.
I just buy a laptop (pavilion 15-p050sq). I using windows 7 ultimate x64. I want wireless and bluetooth drivers for my laptop.
And a second question is, wich button turn on/off wireless or wich quick command such as fn+f12 (btw this don't work)
the wireless driver provided just won't install to my notebook.

My HP 15-g009AX Notebook have pblm with its wifi . I installed wireless button driver from HP website but it still has not detected my WiFi.I have installed win 8.1 and the lap was bought from flipkart. It is powered by and a8 apu, 4GB ram, 2GB radeon 8570 graphics... (I also have pblm with my graphics driver. It detects my graphics card as 8500).

The router I have is "atheros AR5007 802.11b/g WiFi adapter", and the o/s I have on my laptop is Windows Vista 32 bit.
In our previous residence we had UPC broadband, and I had no problems at all connecting.
I just received a dual band Time Warner Cable router that I want to wirelessly connect with my HP Pavilion dv6t-6c00 CTO Quad Edition Entertainment Notebook PC that I had for 2 and a half years now. The laptop has no trouble seeing and connecting to the 2.4 Ghz band, but does not even see 5Ghz. I tried playing around with the router settings, but had no luck this far. I believe that it should be able to see it, but I'm not 100% sure. Whether I need to update my drivers or anything for it to be able to connect to 5G? Or perhaps purchase a new network card or adapter? Or am I out of luck connecting it to 5G?

When the laptop was ordered one of the upgrades was an "Intel Wireless-N card with Bluetooth" Upon receiving and configuring the laptop I have discovered that what was actually installed was an Intel Wifi 1000 adapter, which only operates in the 2.4ghz frequency range. After getting transferred around HP for a while basically they could not tell me if this was a mistake or just what they offer (their website is very vague on what "wireless-N" adapter you get). They offered to either credit me for the $25 upgrade or I could return the laptop. I elected to get the credit as I am otherwise happy with the laptop.
I can easily replace the wi-fi card; however does anyone on this forum know if the laptop has the proper antenna to make use of a wireless N card that transmits on the 5ghz (and 2.4ghz) bands?
I am in the process of downgrading an HP 15-g013dx (J5T33UA) laptop from Windows 8.1 to Windows 7. This is a quad-core AMD A8 APU system.
I am having trouble with USB 2.0 devices not being recognized by the hardware. I have all the devices installed in device manager, but the computer will not detect USB 2.0 devices.
It will recognize USB 3.0 devices just fine when they are plugged into the USB 3.0 port, but neither of the USB 2.0 ports. USB 2.0 devices won't work in any port. I can't confirm USB 1.1 devices at this time.
CMOS setup is set to Legacy mode: Disable.
Is there an additional driver or configuration that I am missing, or is there another issue going on?
It shows in device manager that PCI is not working too.

recently purchased the HP 15 Notebook PC having Windows 8.1 OS. When I setup the laptop initially and was trying to configure the machine it detected my home WiFi...however i skipped the step as I didnt remember the password.
I configured it on Ethernet and it worked fine.
when I tried to setup the WiFi later, it doesnt show any WIFI networks. The Wifi light on my keypad is on indicating its active but no wfi network visible. I tied restarting the laptop and my Wifi router but it didn't work.

View 5 Replies View RelatedI own an HP Envy dv6 Notebook PC, MOdel No.2CE243OCYT. It has an Atheros AR9485 802.11 b:g:n WiFi adapter. There is an HP update for that adapter, but when I updated it, I was unable to connect to the internet. I realize that this WiFi adapter is only for 2.5G. I had to refresh my laptop, then I had internet access again. I have not tried that driver update again, but TWC just updated my Cable modem to dual band using the 2.5G and 5G bands.I am afraid to install the Atheros update in my lapotop again because I don't want to go though the hassle of re-installing all my software pd[rograms again.Is there a dual band WiFi adapter that HP recommends, and is it easy to install?

I have an HP G60 Notebook PC with Windows Vista Home Premium, it's about 4 years old. I recently got a new Cisco Linksys E1500 wireless router, which is connected to my home computer. My laptop shows that it is connected to the home network, but it will not connect to the internet. Other laptops in the house are able to connect to the network and the internet. Mine seems to be the only one not working. Why isn't it working? What do I need to do to fix it?
I've run network diagnostics. It says "A problem with you network router or broadband modem might be preventing an internet connection." I've unplugged both of these and tried again. It didn't work! I've also connected my laptop straight to the modem and it still didn't connect to the internet. I've tried resetting the network adapter. My IP settings are set to automatic.
My internet connection wasn't a problem before last week (when I got a new router).
Have an HP 2000-208CA Notebook that came with 64 bit, WIN7. This notebook is extremely slow. The processor and memory I believe is the biggest issue with this notebook. Have installed WIN7, 32 bit. Now can't find the correct wifi drivers for this notebook. Have downloaded all wifi drivers that were listed for WIN7, 32bit for an HP 2000-208CA notebook, but none of them work. Any alternative wifi drivers?

As above I keep losing internet connection on HP Pavilion g6 Notebook PC and often have to turn off to get it back. I have had the laptop for over a year now and have had this problem from day one. Often there are no connections to be seen at all. I can be on a site fine one minuete then the next it just freezes. Sometimes clicking dissconnect then reconnect will resolve the issue. But most of the time I have to switch off, leave it off for a few mins then reboot. This does not always work so I have to do it again.
As above, I have had this issue from day one. When I got it home there were no connections to be seen. I took it streight back to PC World they switched it on and connections were there. When I got home, switched on others were there but not my own. After switching off and on again mine was there. After that it was okay for a week or so then I started getting the problems I have now. My son sitting about three feet away from me on his lap top has no problems at all so I know it is the laptop and not my router. Also my wifes, my son's and my phone are on the internet through the router when this goes off. Now and then it will be okay for a couple of days but most of the time it goes off several times a day.
I've had my HP envy Touchsmart 15-J102sa for about 3 months now and ever since I've had it, it runs really slow at time. It's occurs more often when I'm on the internet browsing or watching a video on youtube. When It starts running slow, it say the page is not responding for about 3 mins then it displays the page and start working at normal speed again. I really need any sort of solutions that might fix it, I know for a fact that it's not a virus because I scan pc everytime I turn it on.
View 2 Replies View RelatedI have an HP Pavilion 17 e049wm Notebook PC, model: E0J75UA.Long story short my laptop no longer gives me an option to connect to the internet through my wireless router. It only gives me the option to connect through an Ethernet cable. If I click on the networks icon it says No connections are available. If I go to the network and sharing center and try to set up a network, it will never detect my router. The wifi icon reminds orange, despite airplane mode being off. If I type wireless in the search bar in the start menu, one option is to change wifi settings. From there it only gives me the option to add VPN connection.(?)Another option is to change wireless device settings yet it doesn't detect any. I tried doing a system restore to a save point where the internet was working,'didn't work. I know it's not my router as all other devices, phones, tablets,ps3 and other computers are working just fine. I did try though resting the router.
