I have recently had my broadband upgraded to 5Ghz 100mbps however my HP ENVY m6-1310sa can't detect the 5G band. I just want to know if it has the right network card to do this, my laptop supports 802.11n which should be able to,yet still can't detect the 5ghz, whereas my phone and tablet can detect it.
View 5 RepliesI own an HP Envy dv6 Notebook PC, MOdel No.2CE243OCYT. It has an Atheros AR9485 802.11 b:g:n WiFi adapter. There is an HP update for that adapter, but when I updated it, I was unable to connect to the internet. I realize that this WiFi adapter is only for 2.5G. I had to refresh my laptop, then I had internet access again. I have not tried that driver update again, but TWC just updated my Cable modem to dual band using the 2.5G and 5G bands.I am afraid to install the Atheros update in my lapotop again because I don't want to go though the hassle of re-installing all my software pd[rograms again.Is there a dual band WiFi adapter that HP recommends, and is it easy to install?

I have HP Envy 15-171nr notebook pc installed with Windows 8.1 pro. Since past 2 to 3 days I was not able to connect my mobile phone to the laptop through bluetooth. So I removed my phone from the paired device and again tried to pair it with my laptop, but I couldn't pair it. So I tried to reinstall the bluetooth driver from HP Recovery Manager. It was notified that the installation was successful but after that there is no bluetooth icon the PC Settings where I can switch on/off bluetooth. There is no bluetooth icon in the Device Manager as well.

My HP Envy m6 laptop cannot connect to our wifi connection and only connects using the cable connection, ethernet.

I have an HP G60 Notebook PC with Windows Vista Home Premium, it's about 4 years old. I recently got a new Cisco Linksys E1500 wireless router, which is connected to my home computer. My laptop shows that it is connected to the home network, but it will not connect to the internet. Other laptops in the house are able to connect to the network and the internet. I've run network diagnostics. It says "A problem with you network router or broadband modem might be preventing an internet connection." I've unplugged both of these and tried again. It didn't work! i can't conect to the wifi....when i press the connect battom for the wifi then it's gone...........and i can't install that softower {Qualcomm Atheros QCA9000 Series Bluetooth 4.0+HS Driver for Microsoft Windows 8.1} when i go to instoll that softower...it's show me like that (the device may not be present or could have been ejected/unplugged from the systeminsert or reinsert now)
I have recently updated to 8.1 it has worked fine. Last night my computer did the HP installs and now I cannot connect to my WiFi but can hotspot my phone.

Initially it said that I was manually connected to an old network but I deleted that and tried to manually connect to my home network but no luck. I worked through all the trouble shooting options and checked to see if the driver was up to date (it was) - all without success. My computer allows me to connect an ethernet cord to it and the router and use the internet that way. I know it's not the router because I use the internet wi-fi with my iPad. Lately, I've experienced many occasions when the laptop fails to connect to a wireless network when other PCs in the same room connect. I should say it mostly connects, but with "limited connectivity" and no Internet access. I struggled during a week's vacation to connect and then had a problem connecting when I returned home, where I previously had no problems. And I'm having this problem on networks that previously were not a problem. I've read on this forum that many people are having similar problems. It's occurs more often when I'm on the internet browsing or watching a video on youtube. When It starts running slow, it say the page is not responding for about 3 mins then it displays the page and start working at normal speed again. I really need any sort of solutions that might fix it, I know for a fact that it's not a virus because I scan pc everytime I turn it on.
View 2 Replies View RelatedI just received a dual band Time Warner Cable router that I want to wirelessly connect with my HP Pavilion dv6t-6c00 CTO Quad Edition Entertainment Notebook PC that I had for 2 and a half years now. The laptop has no trouble seeing and connecting to the 2.4 Ghz band, but does not even see 5Ghz. I tried playing around with the router settings, but had no luck this far. I believe that it should be able to see it, but I'm not 100% sure. Whether I need to update my drivers or anything for it to be able to connect to 5G? Or perhaps purchase a new network card or adapter? Or am I out of luck connecting it to 5G?

I tried to check my wireless network software update and that too is up to date. My colleague suggested me to attach an external dual band wireless dongal. Is that possible to replace the network card with a dual band one if this machine does not have that one. I am really annoyed with my laptop wifi. It is working with 2.4GHz wifi signal, but due to interference problem as stated by internet provider it is not working at good speed and speed fluctuates a lot.

I set up the router and worked out the kinks and updated the software. My laptop finds and connects with the 2.5GHz Band anywhere in the house. My laptop does not even find or see the 5GHz Band. However my Galaxy Tablet finds both bands and can connect with both, thought the 5GHz seems weaker.
I noticed that my Galaxy Tablet finds a lot more wi fi networks than my laptop (that are in houses around the street). I believe my laptop should find the 5Ghz Band and be able to connect. So I'm hoping this is a software or driver issue, and just a setting that needs to be adjusted. I don't know much about Wi Fi drivers, but I"m a Vista survivor, so I should be able to solve this.

I have dv6700 which came with a s-video out and I cant thank it enough for the countless times it has come in handy. Now my friend bought her dv4t and it came with a vga-out only. I know there is a HDMI port, but we are trying to connect to a SD-TV here and that doesnt support HDMI. I bought a vga-to-rca adapter in the past to use with IBM T60 notebook and it didnt work on that. Probably that notebook inherently didnt support tv-out from that vga port. Does HP notebook have the capability to do tv-out from vga port and if yes, what do I need to connect it to a standard definition tv set?

All of my other HP laptops connect to this phone with no problem, but the G6 will not connect to the internet through the phone with cable, wifi or bluetooth. The G6 recognizes the phone and shows it in "unspecified devices". I have tried everything to get it to connect without success.

i own a Pavilion dv7-6c90el that i updated at windows 8 two weeks ago. Every week a problem occure: my pc can't connect to any wifi, and i can't disable the wifi card, it doesn't respond, so i have to switch off many times the pc until it begins to work again (after many times you can enter in connection menu and disable the card and then switch on it other time and then works). i suppose is a driver problem (with windows 7 this problem never appeared).

I have a Pavilion dm4-2165dx with Windows 7 64 bit. I have not made any changes to the laptop or the network. All of a sudden today I could not connect to my home wireless connection eventhough all of the other machines in my house can still connect without a problem.
My wireless connection light is on and it is blue. I can still connect to the internet through wired ethernet into my router.

I have been dealing with this for a while now, and it just happened out of no where. I turned on my computer one morning and it wouldnt allow me to connect to my wifi. I have tried EVERYTHING. My computer does allow me to connect an ethernet cord to it and the router and use the internet that way. I know it's not the router because I use the internet on my iPhone and tablet. When I attempt to connect to internet it has a red X where the wireless icon used to be, now the icon looks like a computer screen instead the the little bars. When I tap my wireless button on my key pad a message comes up and notifies me that i just turned my wireless connection off, but no matter if it's off or on that little button always has the orange light on. I can't figure out whats going on
