Bought this pc at Wal-Mart-mart December 2013 it is a hp 2000 notebook pc with windows 8 when you turn the pc on press keys to enter my user password, and after I enter my password screen goes black except the white arrow moved by the mouse pad will not do anything after that

View 9 Replies View RelatedMy son has bought me a Dell 15R (5520) laptop. I collect my e mails from Talk Talk via their website and have done this on my old Dell laptop and home computer for many years.
Since I got my new lap top I can not collect my e.mails. As soon as I enter my password the screen goes blank and I can not access my mails.
I have re-tried my old laptop right next to my new lap top (both working on same wireless connection) and it works fine. The mails can also be collected on another laptop no problem
Why is the new laptop not accessing the same page correctly? I have tried changing the internet settings.
I got automatic Windows up date last night. After the updates, I can't do anything except turn on the computer, see the HP page, the green log in with password page, then all goes dark blue and freezes. It will not even rcognize the keyboard to back out. It is an HP Envy 20 all in one desktop. I have removed the back, all looks good, everything is secured and in place.

I was able to update the BIOS before it went black permanently. It does turn on, but nothing comes up on the screen..How do I trouble shoot it, when I can't see anything???
View 9 Replies View RelatedI have a problem turning on my dell n5010 laptop with win7/ubuntu dual boot , I was doing some blogging using ubuntu and I went to have lunch and left it on but when I got back I found my laptop dead with the black screen and not turning on again with only the power led always on then the hdd led for a few seconds but not hearing any beeps and not seeing anything on the screen.
I have followed some solutions posted before but none of them worked.
1 - I tried to remove battery , ac and press power button to drain static electricity then trying to boot with ac adapter only but it didn't work.
2 - I tried the LCD test and tried an external monitor but neither works.
3 - I tried removing the memory modules , cleaning and reinserting but no change.
3 - I tried Dell Diagnositic but the only difference was that I heard 7 repetitive beeps when on the mode but not seeing anything on the screen .
today i tried turing on my laptop its a G56. and the hp logo came on after that i got a black screen with a white cursor blinking. now i tried the hard reset that did not work, there are no blinking lights. i also tested the hard drive and memory and everything passed. i also tride f11 system recovery and does nothing just goes to a black screen again. also a friend of mine has the same exact laptop i tried swapping hard drives to see maybe if it was my computer but his hard drive work fine on my comp. then i put my hard drive in his comp and did the same exact thing, black screen with the white cursor.

Today i wanted to startup my laptop, but it seems to be stuck on a black screen (with my cursor appeared) after the HP loading screen. Sometimes at the startup it says "preparing automatic restore", but results after loading at the same black screen.I tried to solve this problem with the following things:
1. Hard reset (turn off everything, hold power button 30 seconds, turn on everything and startup etc.)
2. Replacing RAM. Someone at the forum said this worked, but it didn't.
3. Tried taking off all USB devices such as mouse, DC adapter etc. and started up but didn't work.
A month ago i tried doing a factory reset, but my laptop seemed to be stuck on the same black screen.
After logging in I get stuck in a black screen with cursor. Have tried shift or control with f8 and f12 to get out of this with no success. Understand I may have to reinstall video driver or BIOS?
If I leave laptop on all day it is working by the time I get home from work.
So my Acer Aspire e5 571 which ive been using for about 3 days just had a windows update. Now it starts up fine but I get a black screen once I log in. However some programs are still able to see and popup randomly. I also tried going into my bIOS but it asks for a password which I do not know.

I can get into both of those, after that screen disappears it goes to a black screen with a blinking cursor in the upper left hand corner. I have tried various "fixes" that i can find online, from powering it down hitting f12 to try and boot from hard drive, nothing seems to work. I have ran the diagnostics fully and no errors come up, but I can not seem to get it to do anything. F8 does not work for me to try to go to safe mode.
View 3 Replies View RelatedI have a new Lenovo Z50-75 with FreeDOS - I made a Windows 8.1 installation, and all went fine.
After installing the around 70 updates - at one point it reboots and I get a black screen, right after shortly seeing the Lenovo Logo ( entering BIOS works ).
It is not booting Windows at all - I can not enter Safe Mode therefore, and I do not get any cursor.
The behaviour is reproduceable, done this 2 times. Also when it hangs in the black screen, the van get reall busy, lound and the notebook gets hot.
When I open My Aspire One It shows: "Acer explore beyond limits" and then the screen turns dark grey, if I move the mouse the white arrow appears and moves but that is it. If I leave the computer for a while the screen turns black if I move the mouse it turnes dark grey again and arrow appears.

When I replaced my customer's screen on their COmpaq- CQ62-219WM and it showing up black. When I shine a flashlight in it I can see the start menu and whatnot. That means that I need to file a RMA right? I am guessing because the blacklight is out.

Then I press Power button and shutdown it, after some time when I start it again, its start working normally.
Once system starts its start working without showing any hardware or software problem whenever I shutdown or restart, sometime its start working sometime its continue beeping without showing any error.
I have a Dell 1525 laptop which will not boot beyond the Dell logo, I get a black screen with a white cursor. I tried to use the last known good configuration and it started out fine but I got the black screen again. I can't go into the safe mode, it only goes as far as loading the files. I tried booting from the cd to do a repair but that options says there are no problems. I attached an external monitor and I get the same black screen with the white cursor. I am running Vista Home as my operating system.

View 5 Replies View Relatedour laptop keeps throwing a flakey when trying to install Win7 Ultimate over the current crappy Vista OS.
Laptop passed the compatibility checker no probs & has all the updates installed, but every time we try, we get either
1. windows 7 install failure message then black screen with cursor
or
2. straight to black screen with cursor.
This is even after changing to the low res setting that is mentioned so often when googling the issue.
I've looked on the Acer site, but it says if I got it from pc world I should take it up with them?
Anyone here have any advice to get it to work, or should we just smash the laptop off a wall?
Just installed Visa 64 , everything went fine , but every time i boot into Vista i get a black screen with a white cursor in the top left have corner flashing very fast and it does this for almost 60 seconds and then Vista boots normally.
I have tried unplugging everything from my Mac , but i still get the same problem.
It looks like Vista is wating for something then it gives up, I have not installed any software only the bootcamp driver.
Anybody know what is wrong, I had Xp on previously and did not have this problem on fat32 , Vista only works on NTFC if that makes a difference.
The screen does work in "safe mode", so the screen is functioning. It might be something with the graphics settings (I use a separate screen on this computer often). Step-by-step procedure to run in safe mode to check out the problem?

After windows loads with the glowing animation, the login screen does not appear. I cannot open a task manager. I don't know if it's a problem with explorer.exe or what.
The explorer.exe crashed when I tried to connect to an external hard drive, and I tried to get task manager to open, but it wouldn't open.
That's when I tried to restart computer, and login screen would not appear. All I have is a black screen with cursor.
I have an S440. I've had it for one week. Two days ago I downloaded the Windows 8.1 update from the store. Since then, when I start up the computer, it doesn't even taken me to the 'sign in' screen. There's just a black screen. When I move the cursor, it briefly appears, flickers, then disappears again.
I understand this is an issue with the graphics drivers. So I ran Windows in safemode and disabled Intel R HD Graphics family and AMD Radeon HD 8600 series graphics drivers.
This, unfortunately, hasn't fixed the problem. It still boots to a black screen with an occasionally flickering cursor. I'm currently running in safemode.
