HP/Compaq :: Dv5 Win 7 Clean Install Driver
I have a dv5-1235dx that i wiped clean and installed Windows 7 Professional. My first round of updates took care of most drivers like scrolling and sound. My laptop has the touch sensitive button up top for volume, mute, play, pause etc.
The volume buttons work but the volume bar no longer displays on screen and it doesnt "click" as you change the volume.
I have the HP page for drivers [url] but dont know what i need. I installed HP quick launch buttons but that didnt do it.
Does anyone know which driver it is? Also which ones should i get and is there a specific way to install them or just run them?
HP/Compaq :: Dv5 Sound Driver
The sound overlay keeps coming on every 2 seconds with the sound like its changing the volume, but it isnt. If i try using my finger it goes up and down maybe 2 bars then goes back to where it was stuck at after going mental for another 5 seconds. I can only change the volume using the taskbar icon, but the overlay keeps coming on. mute doesnt work, pause/play etc doesnt work, quickplay. You can imagine its incredibly annoying.
Is there a driver i can reinstall or something?
Its a vid file of the problem, when you see the bars going up and down, thats me trying to change the volume.

HP/Compaq :: Driver For Chipset On The Dv5-1210es
I acquired last week the above mentioned laptop for my wife. The use for it is basically browsing, shopping, skyping, messaging, searching over the net, no gaming.
To make it short and not to bother you with long stories: My brother gave me an original Ultimate Vista 64 with its own license and I'm planning to install it on this new laptop delivered with Premium 32 bits to fully use the 4 Gig Ram.
I've collected all the necessary drivers to proceed, but one, only one driver is giving me a major headache, the driver for the chipset Intel Cantiga PM45...I simply can't find it, neither on Intel's site...as if it never has existed.
Everest tell's me:
- Manufacturer: Quanta
- Chipset: Intel GM45/GM47/GS45/PM45 Yes (Intel Cantiga PM45) Montevina Platform
- Northbridge: Intel Cantiga PM45
- Southbridge: Intel 82801IM ICH9M
And here a screenshot with Cpuz
Maybe I don't even need that driver, but having built many xp desktops, I guess that there's no possible workaround without that driver...
HP/Compaq :: Find Me A Display Driver That Will Install DV6t Quad
My specs: dv6t quad. i720M. 320M.
I just cleaned installed.
I already know the 320M Drivers are not yet release. Done.
But I can't find a way to install ANY driver I downloaded. None of them will install. Giving me message that there is no compatible hardware.
The only one that will install is from HP's website, but that only installs NVIDIA HD Audio. It doesn't install display drivers at all. W(T)F. Where is the display driver in that install?
I am stuck on the 1280x720 resolution and I cant go up to my native resolution at 1366x768.
I am tired of already spending countless hours downloading and searching for a driver that will work.
HP/Compaq :: CQ70-211EM: Cannot Install CDROM Driver After Firmware Update
Since updating the firmware on my LG drive (GSA-T50L) on every restart I get a message that Windows (Vista Home Basic) cannot install the driver. I click the second option, which is to "remind me later." I have to do this every time I boot up. The CD ROM is actually working OK as far as I can tell, but I'm still getting the error message. Device Manager doesn't list any driver, and trying to update it through device manager is unsuccessful.
I'm using firmware rev. SC05. I wondered if downgrading back to SC04 would cure the problem, but after hundreds of searches I cannot find the firmware anywhere on the Internet. Why it's so rare, I have no idea.
Maybe the problem has been caused by myself -- I deleted the drivers folder from the recovery partition some time ago to gain a couple of GB of drive space. However, I was under the impression that the CDROM uses Windows' own driver, so maybe this isn't the problem? I'm absolutely stumped. Does anyone have any ideas on how to solve this issue?
FWIW, I have recovery discs, only I'm unsure about using them because I don't want to wipe the entire system and start from scratch. If it's possible to restore only the missing drivers folder from the recovery partition this might be a good start.
HP/Compaq :: Can't Install Wifi Driver For Presario CQ50 108NR
I have a Compaq Presario CQ50-108NR and my computer needed a recovery, but I had accidentally formatted that part of the hard drive. So I used my Vista Ultimate disk and fresh installed it on my laptop. Because of this, I have to reinstall all of my drivers on my Laptop.
So, I went to HP's site for the drivers which was here. My priority is to get my wifi/internet working as soon as possible because I can download the rest of the drivers later. So, I download both the Atheros and Broadcom drivers for my laptop. I've installed both of them, but my Laptop still doesn't detect any wifi spots despite there being plenty around me. Also, I keep getting a notification that windows must now install drivers for hardware, yet it when I click auto detect and folder detect (folder where my drivers are), it says unable to find any. Also, here is my wifi card.
Acer :: Being Prompted To Install Driver For "COPROCESSOR" After Clean Install
Doing a clean install of Vista and keep getting prompted to locate and install driver for "Coprocessor". Have looked in device manager (yellow mark) but I just don't know what it is. Windows says it can't locate software for it.
Don't know what I am looking for on Acers site under drivers, installed all other stuff OK, Realtek, NVidia etc. Could it be a modem driver. Properties in device manager give no clues, it's listed as "other devices" along with the webcam which I have to sort drivers out for too.
Dell :: Install Windows 7: AHCI Driver
I am about to install Windows 7 thanks to my school's MSDNAA program and plan to use the 64-bit version (replacing Vista/32-bit). I remember from the bloatware removal thread where it is highly recommended to install the AHCI driver before installing the OS since there is a performance boost.
Should I continue to use the AHCI driver before installing Windows 7? On Dell's site, they only list vista versions, so I don't know if it is needed or if it even works with 7.
If I should keep using it, should I use the 32-bit or 64-bit driver on Dell's site? I know it sounds obvious that I would want the 64-bit driver if I am upgrading to a 64-bit OS, but I have heard people say many 64-bit drivers are not as reliable as 32-bit, so I am wondering if it matters which one I use
Dell :: 600m Need Driver To Install Mini PCI
My SMC PCMCIA adapter died a few days ago, and I'm really tired of dragging the cable with me as I move around the house. I can get a mini PCI wireless card from eBay [url]. It doesn't look like there's an installation CD in the eBay listing. Will I need a driver for it? What driver would I use? Also, is the antenna built into the card or would I need to add that? If I have to keep buying things to add wireless to this laptop, I'll just stick to USB, although I'd rather not tie up a USB port.

Dell :: Cannot Install Any Video Driver. 7900gs, Flashed To Gtx

This setup worked OK for many months.
Today, this happened:
Wake from hibernation.
Browse homepage (internet)

Laptop display blanks.
I turn off computer.
Here is status NOW:
I can boot in safe mode. I have cleaned old video driver.
Boot in regular mode. OK. (with video driver uninstalled)
Install ANY video driver (win XP, media center)- the display freezes, and blanks after the windows loading screen. I do not get to the log in page.
There are also strange lines all over the screen (during boot)

Acer :: 9600m GT Installed On Aspire 5720 But Driver = No Install
I have the 9600m GT out of a 8930g installed in my Aspire 5720 laptop but every nvidia driver that I try to install says that the hardware is not compatible with the driver or some crap.
Am I out of luck with this card or is there a way to force install a driver...or is there a better driver to install?
I've tried the latest 197.16, 186.03 drivers from nvidia. Even from laptopvideo2go...no dice.
Acer :: : Can't Install Driver Video Under Vista 32 Bit
I have just received an Acer 5935 and I have already formatted and reinstalled Vista 32 Ultimate SP2.
The laptop has two video cards: a nVidia GT130 1GB and an Intel GM4500.
I downloaded the latest nVidia WHQL notebook driver (186.03) for my graphic card but i can't install it.
The installation stops and I have the following message: "hardware not recognised".
I am obliged to use the older Acer driver and you know they never update it to the latest and most performant release.
Anyway, it's not because of the two graphic cards...
I have had the same problem with a Dell Studio 1555 which has an ATi HD4570 512MB.
I tried the latest modded Catalyst (6.6) and I was obliged to install Dell's driver... but I could install the same driver on another laptop (Dell Studio 1535) with a HD3450.
Sony :: Vaio Sluggish After Clean Windows Install, Driver (S Series)
i just reinstalled winxp sp3 on a sony s3xp, i don't have the vaio installation cd but i did a clean reinstall of windows xp and installed essential drivers but it was quite slow, eg seconds to load a directory, or long pauses during web browsing
now i've installed all the original drivers and utilities and am running without power saving but it's still sluggish, eg the mouse pointer jumps about the screen rather than moves continuously when the cpu is under any load at all
Dell :: Intel GMA 965/x3100 On M1330 - Can't Install Driver
I bought a second hand M1330 on ebay with the intel graphics. I can't seem to get a driver installed no matter which one I use. I've tried both Vista and Windows 7 but in both cases when I'm trying to install the drivers, I get an error message saying
The computer does not meet the minimum requirements for installing the software.
Setup with exit.
I've tried both drivers from the intel site as well as the dell site but no luck. Any ideas?
Dell :: Install Intel GM45 Express Chipset Driver For XP Pro Configuration
I'm in the process of creating an XP Pro operating system install for my new Inspiron 1545, on a new SATA hard drive (taking out the original SATA hard drive from Dell with Vista preinstalled to use as separate bootup opsys which I have to reinstall to zap all the bloatware later).
Things were going really really well (I thought) with setting up my new drive with XP and I got past the problem that bites most folks (SATA hard drive not being recognized by XP install), by switching the drive in BIOS to ATA mode b4 doing the install.
I got XP completely installed & activated AOK, with only a few minor wrinkles which I was able to figure out. Applied a few simple quick tweaks to XP to make it easier for me to use (disabling autoplay, killing the search dog, setting folder views, removing stuff I don't use like Windows messenger, MSN, etc).
Then I went to install all of the necessary Dell drivers from the website for the 1545 for (in order) Intel GM45 Chipset, Video, Ethernet, Dell Quickset, Wireless, Sound, Card reader, and Alps touchpad.
I had figured that stuff out already and had all the drivers copied over to the new PC ready to go .....
HP/Compaq :: HP DV5 Woes
I have purchased a HP fv5 1215 tx its C2d 2.2ghz (intel T6600)
has Nvidia 9600M GT graphic card,15.4 inch display
I felt that the 6 cell battery life is not as it sould be (a few fellows have laptops, without a dedicated graphic card, so i wasnt sure) so I have ran some tests (more than once to verify data ,the difference is +/- 1 minute) to verify the status of the battery ambient temperature around 35~40 celcius
All 'tests' were on windows vista SP1 , 50% brightness, no wifi,bluetooth,lan moden connection,no usbs attached on windows vista, when laptop is idle (to test, i just opened it up,changed the powersettigns so it doesnt close scree,run screen saver ,suspend or hibernate, and left it there, doing nothing and it ran for mere 2 hr 30 min..........
HP/Compaq :: Hp Dv5-1002us
concerned about its performance since it has the AMD ZM-80. The most intriguing thing about it is the ATI HD3200 since I am looking to have a laptop that can handle TF2 but I still want the best battery life. [url]
HP/Compaq :: DV5-1290EC
I have been running a couple of games (Just Cause 2/The Saboteur etc.) and I've been running in to a lot of lag even though I've turned down the settings to low. Even so my computer is still lagging. I reckon my computer should be good enough to run those games at least with low settings.
I ran DPC Latency Check and got a lot of red spikes. I turned of the WI-fi and then the spikes went down. Updated the drivers for the wi-fi card (Intel WiFi Link 5100 AGN) to version 188.8.131.52. When I ran DPC again the red spikes where still there.
My specs are:
Intel Core 2 Duo P8600 @ 2.40 GHz
Nvidia GeForce 9600M GT
Windows 7 Ultimate
HP/Compaq :: DV5 Or HDX16
I'm in trouble to buy a DV5 (1199) or a HDX16 (1260).
The HDX16 has bigger HD, video card and a wonderfull monitor while the DV5
is lighter and cheaper (I can save 400 euro and the specs are enough for me).
But the real problem is that in my understanding the DV5 has some problem with the warming (in particular there is a very hot point just near the touchpad) and some "click" in the audio, using the WiFi.
HP/Compaq :: Dv5 And Overheating
as many dv5 owners know, this HP series has a little problem with overheating.
The laptop has a small aperture for air circulation just below the exhaust vent: the fan takes fresh air from the aperture and then push out warm air.
Many people noted that the aperture is too small but its position is also problematic because when you put the laptop on a desk, the air stream is reduced so much that the heat cannot be dissipated correctly. This leads to very high temperatures under high loads that sometimes causes the laptop to shutdown itself to prevent damage.
Now one solution is to raise the laptop a bit, to allow better cooling.
Dissecting my laptop I found a very interesting thing.
In the upper left corner of the laptop there's the fan that cools down the whole thing.
The fan is very near to the upper left corner of the keyboard too, and the notebook chassis has a hole to let the fan aspire more air from the upside.
You may say that's good, the fan is getting fresh air from the keyboard too, right?
Wrong. The keyboard on its back has a thin plastic coverage that prevents the air flow!
So, armed wih a cutter, I delicately made a cut on this plastic coverage film near the upper left angle and then I removed the cutted piece from the back of the keyboard (there are some glue strips that fix it for better adherence).
To be precise, when I say "upper left angle" I suppose you have your keyboard in front of you (near the ESC key to be pratical). Since you need to cut the *rear* coverage plastic, it becomes the upper right angle. Just always take the ESC key as a placeholder!

HP/Compaq :: HP Pavilion DV5
I have a Pavilion dv5-1203ax with AMD Turion X2 and ATi Mbility Radeon HD 3450.
I have a strange issue.. the system stops charging the battery at anytime...sometimes it charges the battery properly and other time it stops at 40 % , 50 % , 90 % etc.
The battery charges to 100 % normally when Windows is off and power suply is left on...
I changed the battery but the problem still exists
While the battery charges... HP Battery Check show Good when it does not, the battery check shows Replace...
I've formatted the system and tried Vista twice and Windows 7 also and recaliberated the battery but to no success...
Is it the motherboard...
HP/Compaq :: Dv5-1160us
I bought a dv5-1160us ($847) and received one with a bad display (dead pixels) and the one I received as an exchange had the same issue... (both were new in the box w/ all factory seals)... was this a fluke or an issue with the dv5-1160?
HP/Compaq :: Dv5 Adapter
I was watching a movie upstairs and the adapter was working perfectly fine. I unplugged it and went downstairs, then replugged it in and the little light that indicates the laptop is charging, would not show up.
I put the adapter to my ear and heard the very faint beep/buzz noise it makes, making me believe that it's working fine.
Well I plugged in the adapter to my father's Dell notebook, then plugged it into my laptop and it's working perfectly fine.
Is there anything I can do for my HP battery? I mean, the last time something like this happened with an HP I had, the adapter wasn't even making the faint noise, it was just dead. I ended up having to buy a universal one. I would use that one for this notebook except, it doesn't fit into the slot.
HP/Compaq :: Dv5 Mousepad
Somehow on the left side of my mousepad a slight tear has appeared in the pad. Initially I didn't have any problems with it but now my mousepad has begun to start staying in a vertical line and not allowing me to scroll side to side. I gotta believe that its from this tear, the tear is like the surface in this spot has begun create like a slight lower in a spot.

HP/Compaq :: Hp Dv5 1040
I'm really seriously considering going to buy a hp dv5 1040 today It is the intel p7350 with 4gb ram 320gb hdd and the gf 9600gt Do any of you have any last minute warning.
About the faq I previously answered the question in this post. choosing between 6 machines And this hp seems to me this really fits what I want.
By the way I found another Hp dv5 1160. It seems to have exactly the same specs. So whats the difference?
only problom is that i comes with vista 32 ( which can't even use the 4 gb of ram). I later on want more ram ( i guess the hardware allows for 8). How do I go about getting the vista 64 instead? do I buy a new copy, an upgrade or should I bargin the dealer for it allready when I by the pc?

HP/Compaq :: DV5 1022- When It Goes Sleep
I bougth my HP DV5 1022 three days ago, everything worked perfect, but when the computer is not being used and it turns off the screen to "hibernate" or "sleep", when i move the mouse to wake it up appears the welcome screen but immediately the screen turns black and does not answer. The computer is on and the screen is black, not turned off, black.
I tried moving mouse, pushing all butons, closing the laptop, and the screen is dead yet.
Why? is perhaps an operative system bad installation? (vista)
or the model HP DV5 1022 is simply..... garbage?
I'm very worried because i can't download movies and archives when i'm sleeping, because when i wake up to see the progress, the pc screen dead.
HP/Compaq :: Modify/upgrade The DV5
i am a DV5 (1009TX) user from Oz (but not aussie....so excuse language mistakes) .. i bought this laptop (against my better judgement...because i enjoy desktops for their upgradeability (not to mention the cost effectiveness of their upgrades) anyways....i wanted something along the lines of the DV5 (with the T9400/4GB/9600M GT [ouch] ) so that i could eke out some playability with GTA4..... which i am ...ok to say...that it is moderately playable till now on the low-middish visuals
thing is i wanted to modify this laptop to some degree (i do not want to rip out it's guts) and wanted your help
can we install a second SSD/HDD INTO the chassis of this laptop (DV5 aka 15"..ie would it have place to install another hdd internally)
if i were to install a 2/4GB SDHC class 6/4 card, would it be just as effective as a readyboost USB drive or a turbo mem from intel
is the turbo mem installable in this PC, i have 2 slots of PCIex1 available acc. to everest.. (i know HP doesn't like intel, and gave up support for this seemingly annoying tech....but just for mod's/bragging rights)
SSD as an express drive (any real experiences with it....cuz this would be a secondary option if i were not able to install it inside the chassis.... would it retain it's features (being bootable and fast) if it were to be used as such ( i have read a non techie review that PERHAPS it would not be quite so effective...
HP/Compaq :: HP Pavilion Dv5-1213em
I got HP Pavilion dv5-1213em with windows vista home premium sp1 preinstalled ... now what stupid thing i have done ..... i did not create recovery disks and format the hard drive and create new partitions because there were only two partitions and try to install vista ultimate on it (Registered version) ... but on setup screen when it shows completing installation, after that it shows me black screen with moveable cursor ... nothing is happen .... .... so i tried to get recovery discs online ... but i did not get the link .... now i m with not usable notebook ...
