I picked up a new Envy 15. Nice laptop! However, when paying $2000 for a laptop, I would like it pretty error free.
Every time I boot the laptop, the screen goes blank once it gets in to Windows, although the power light is on and you can hear the fans. Pressing the monitor or any other key does nothing. Need to reboot.
I'm having some trouble with my laptop, for some reason it is able to pick up blank CD's but not blank DVD's,
View 10 Replies View RelatedMy HP Envy dv6 recently did one of its updates and after that it restarted. Now when I turn my computer on it has the Hp logo, the login and after I log in nothing. There's just a black screen with a glow and the cursor. I know it's working because I can hear noises and the fan going but I can't see my desktop. But if I use the simple pass finger identification it will take me to the we page I saved on the designated finger. That's the only way I can get to the internet. I can't use anything else because I can't see my desktop. I can do ctrl alt del and that pops up but it doesn't do any good. I did the unplug everything, take out the battery, plug in AC adapter but not the battery , hold power button for 15 seconds then put the AC adapter but not the battery and turn on thing and nothing changed. I tried multiple restarts and shutdowns and nothing changed.
View 6 Replies View RelatedI just got a problem today on my HP Envy notebook Product number = F7P58PA. It has working fine till yesterday night. It has windows 8.1 on it, and may be some updates are installed on it during the night (I am not too sure about it).

THe issue is that when I login to windows by providing my pin the start up screen does not show up. its simply blank with cursor showing only. ALT-CTRL DEL gives the task manager and I can run internet explorer through task manager run command but start up screen remains blank.

I have done battery, memory etc tests and nothing has resolved the issue.
I have an "HP ENVY TouchSmart Sleekbook 4-1115dx" laptop that is about two weeks past warranty and the screen went blank. Â I currently have an old crt monitor hooked up to it and everyting works fine with the machine -- just cant see the screen. Â Will i need to replace the entire display or can i just replace the chord/ribbon from the display thru the hinges to the main unit?

Â After the updates, I can't do anything except turn on the computer, see the HP page, the green log in with password page, then all goes dark blue and freezes. Â It will not even rcognize the keyboard to back out. Â It is an HP Envy 20 all in one desktop. Â I have removed the back, all looks good, everything is secured and in place.

I have tried re-installing drivers, getting frustrated ....
My friend gave me his broken laptop which is not too old. turion x2, 1gb ram, vista. He said one day he was using it and the screen went black. I turned it on and a fan noose starts but slowly stops. I don't really hear anything from it either. I also hooked it up to a VGA monitor and the it is black as well. Any ideas on what it isand is it easily fixed?
View 6 Replies View RelatedI bought a tx1309au a little over a year ago; a couple of days ago I just noticed that it started to overheat alot. Then on Monday, when I turned it on, the screen was just black. It stayed that way for a whole 30mins and I had to turn it off. A few hours later I tried to use it again but still the same. My friend has a similar laptop and he theorizes that it must be the nvidia component at fault. Problem is, my warranty has just expired. Does anyone know how accurate his assessment is? And more importantly, how much it costs to have the nvidia replaced?
View 7 Replies View RelatedI have Windows 7 RTM running on my nc8430 laptop. It has been working great. The only issue is a standby problem. If I put the computer to sleep via the FN-f3 combo it goes to sleep like it should and wakes up like it should. My power profile is set to put the computer to sleep after 10min of inactivity. If after 10min I let the computer go to sleep on its own, upon resuming it from standby I get a black screen. The computer is on and everything is working with sound, just no screen.
I am assuming it is a possible BIOS problem or video driver problem. I have the most recent of each and have tried different video driver versions but no fix.
I have a "compaq presario v6210US" which worked great for a while then it just shut itself off and restarted and the screen stayed black. Now it keeps restarting itself but the screen stays blakc. I can hear the fan and hard drive and everything else running the way it's supposed to. I heard that this has happened to a bunch of other people so it sounds like a defect to me. How do I get it fixed or do I just pull the hard drive, toss the Presario and get a competitors laptop?

Both cards are MXM II (physically fit) however I'm afraid that this VGA is not on whitelist so it's not going to work - I only get blank screen, no error message, no POST, no chance of entering BIOS. I'm more of a desktop user but my husband gave me this laptop on January 2007. Since then, I think I only used it for less than 20 hours (we don't have a wireless)... when we got out of town.
The last time I used it, about a year ago, it turned off by itself. I tried to use it again when I got home but the screen is just blank whenever I turn it on. What could be the problem? I don't think it's a good idea to send it for repair to HP as the warranty expired already.
when I turn it on, all the blue lights turn on... but the screen won't therefore I can't use it. Ealier, I hooked up an external monitor but didn't work. Could it be an LCD problem?
The notebook doesn't have any scratch or whatsoever. It still looks like new, yet not working.

1. What reason is there for the 800 dollar difference in price other than the beats headphones?
2.Does the back of the case only have the beats logo on it or is there any type of laser etching like on the original envy.
I have a Compaq 3000 Laptop, it's almost 2.4 Years old now, over the period of time I dint faced any issues with my Machine.it all started yesterday.
I was watching a movie on my Laptop yesterday, after sometime the screen froze up but the movie was playing as I was able to hear whats going in the movie.
Later I tried restarting the machine, what i get is the machine boots up properly, but the screen doesnt display anything thing, it shows up a blank white screen, sometime when the windows XP loading picture comes up the screen shows light distorted colors but again goes white blank.
I did approached a local vendor for that but he says that we need to replace on the motherboard, I was not much convinced over his explanation over the issue.
I would like to know your views on what might be the problem with my Machine.
I am going to try over connecting an external monitor and see if LCD is the problem, but I would like to know more what all possible options are there which might be affecting my machine and how much would it cost me in the worst possible case.
I am currently stumped on troubleshooting error code lights for a clients hp compaq cq62. I have tried the hard reset, reseating the memory, and even plugging the notebook directly into the wall instead of a surge protector with the battery removed. I cannot find any solution on the HP site or any other forum site for that matter as to what a solid caps lock light and a solid orange light on the f12 key.

However, I was wondering if heat management and battery life has improved with driver- and BIOS updates over time.
In short, has any of the points of criticism that the Envy originally received been improved with driver and BIOS updates?
I'm shopping for laptops right now and I'm pretty much stuck between these two. My main question for the 14 is will it be able to do full hd? I know 1920x1080 is a bit much to ask for on a 14.5" screen but I haven't been able to find a solid answer for this question. The 14 has more features and the internal cd drive is a plus, but not a dealbreaker for the 15 since the cd drive isn't used too much. Taking out price, which one would be a better buy?
View 10 Replies View RelatedI have a couple of questions about the Envy v2. I'm certain the answers are somewhere in the massive owner's thread but it's way too long to want to go through at this point.
My questions are:
1) Audio quality of external speakers. Is there enough bass in them? Do they sound "tin-y"?
2) Noise from the fan when the GPU is in high use. How loud is the fan? Has anyone put a decibel meter to it?
3) Temp of the GPU. My Studio 15 is hitting a high of 70c when running and was wondering how the newer ATI is.
The first I heard about the Envy line was that it was a gorgeous laptop with a great display and above-average speakers. However, it was fundamentally flawed with a horrible trackpad and overheating issues(present in the 13, but further aggravated in the 15). After the spectacular fail of a release, I dropped the Envy out of consideration.
To the present, I've recently started looking at a huge array of laptops and have taken the Envy into consideration again. From what I've heard, the Envy 15 is in its second generation(I need a full-HD laptop and won't be considering the Envy 13). It now comes equipped with a i5 processor and the HD5830.............

My setup is looking like the i7-820, 8GB RAM, 5830, dual-SSD. I have thought about going to the 16GB RAM option as well, though I doubt I need it.

HP has an official HDMI -> VGA adapter. What's people experience with that? Perfect? Problems? I see that Envy 15 is not listed as a supported model for it, but does that matter?
