View 3 RepliesSometimes (not everytime, seems random) my laptop won't wake up after being put to sleep by closing the lid.
usually, I just have to tap the space bar a couple of times, and it wakes right up, but other times, there isn't anything that will wake it up ,and I have to shut it down (hold the power button for 4-5 secs) and restart it...
I've just purshased a new Acer Aspire E5-771 (IGP, not Nvidia).
When I get into deep sleep, it can wake-up normally. I mean that after pressing power button and booting Windows, it comes back to my opened session.
But wen I get in simple sleep (close the lid or press Alt+F4), it cannot wake up. Let me be precise. Wen it is in simple sleep, the orange LED is blinking. If I open the lid, nothing happens. If I press a keystroke, the LED becomes quickly blue and then switches off (1/10 second). No noise, no image. Nothing else happen. I have to press power button to switch on the computer, but I lose my session and have to boot all of Windows.
It does this from the beginning, even with my updated drivers and with the last 1.15 BIOS.
I got a new T440s about 2 weeks ago and sometimes it doesn't wake up after it goes into sleep mode. It gets stuck on a black screen and the mouse cursor is visible, but moving the mouse or pressing keys on the keyboard fails to wake it up. When this happens, I have to restart the computer by holding down the power button for 10 seconds. I am running Windows 7 Professional 64 bit and hybrid sleep is off. I'm just really confused because sometimes it wakes up perfectly and sometimes it doesn't.
View 9 Replies View RelatedIt is a XPS 15 9530 and when set to sleep when the lid is closed the unit will not wake when the lid is opened. If I then press the power button it lights up and I hear a faint sound for about 20 sec (fan, disk, nothing weird) and then the sound stops. I never see anything on the screen. If I press the power button, again, then it says the PC wasn't shutdown correctly. Next, it runs some diagnostics for about 10 seconds and then it starts normally.
View 1 Replies View RelatedMy Dell N5110 has started not stutting down completely although it looks like it has shut down the power light is still on and I have to press the power light for about 10 sec to get it to go off. Also if I am working on the laptop and just shut the lid it won't wake up when I open the lid Have tried pushing every button but nothing happens Have to press the power button to shut down and then restart. I have changed all the power settings many times but nothing fixes the problem.
View 5 Replies View RelatedMy friend's macbook (white plastic, 2.0, napa/core2 before santa rosa platform) isn't starting, and I have no idea why. He initially asked me to replace the top and bottom casing. I accepted, and ordered the parts. Around the time they were supposed to come, I took the computer apart completely (required for the repair), but one of the parts was delayed, so the computer sat splayed on my desk for a week. I didn't exactly stack textbooks on it, but it also wasn't covered in anti-static wrap. So, now, I finally got the part and put it back together, and the computer doesn't start. At all. The screen doesn't go grey, the 'sleep' light doesn't turn on, the fan doesn't start - nothing. The magsafe light is green, so the power is going in. It's also worth noting that I have no battery for it, so it's all on A/C.
Does anyone know what's wrong? My two hypothetical solutions are (a) I need a battery, or (b) the logic board is dead due to static.
How likely are each of these scenarios - especially the logic board one? How possible is it that it was static overloaded?
I have a HP Pavilion DV5-1235dx(model) that I bought 1 year ago.
And 1 week ago its got out of order! Broked! Don't BOOT! I don't know why, but I tryed a lot of ways to do it! But doesn't work!
I have a medium knowlege of computers, but other people said me that can be the Motherboard! Really? I think that maybe the problem is other...
I'll explain what I did to try fix it. I'd took out the HD, and tryed turn it on in SATA/USB adapter. But my Desktop doesn't Recognized the Removable Disk! (The adapter is working I tested with other HD) I'd tryed boot without HD. I'd tryed to put other HD with Ubuntu that I have working.I'd tryed boot with WinCD (XP/VISTA/7). Didn't work either. My BIOS lists the CD-ROM Drive but didn't anyone of HDs that I installed then.
The START is ever the same. Doesn't matter what I do, the "HP Start BOOT Screen" load, enter in a black screen and doesn't load the OS.
I’ve just purchased an Acer Aspire E3 112 that came with Windows 8.1 with Bing. I have a good bootable USB stick with 14.04 on it, from which I have installed several times on different machines. Here’s what I did:
Created unallocated space on the HDD within Windows
Booted from the USB
Clicked on "Install"
Chose "Something else" in the next dialog
Created a / partition, a "Home" partition and a Swap area.
Clicked on "Install"
The install went just like any other install that I’ve done over the last few years. When it finished, I clicked on the "Restart" button. The machine restarts, and goes straight into Windows. No sign of the Ubuntu install at all.
If I examine the HDD in Disk management within Windows, there are no formatted partitions in the unallocated space at all. (I’ve tried the same procedure both with Ubuntu 14.04 and Xubuntu 14.10 - both had the same result). Windows 8.1 with Bing is no different at all to “normal” Windows 8.1 ....
I went out and bout this RangePlus version WPC100 and I go to stick it into my slot thing and it's too small!
I thought that everything was standard.
It slides right into my dad's laptop but not into mine.
my notebook couldn't start up today, power and HDD lights on, but the sharp blue light for wireless not on, try several times, the screen is black, but it's booting up already. What's the problem? Display card?

View 4 Replies View Relatedmy DV9774ca I plug my HDMI cable in and watch on TV just fine, but have had to manually switch from laptop speakers to digital output manually. You have to remember to do this before starting Media Player, etc, or have to go back and start again.
Its the Realtek High Definition Audio.
how to get it to automatically switch audio to the digital when HDMI is plugged in?
I have connected my monitor to an external monitor. It works fine. Only problem I have ( and a little irritating one) is that the external monitor picks up display only after Windows is loaded. Pre-OS screens like BIOS settings, GRUB loader (I have Installed Linux ) doesn't show up)
Is this an issue with BIOS? Because, when I connect HP dv6000 to my monitor, I can see the BIOS screen as well. I am sure the problem is not with the monitor.
The BIOS is responsible for detecting displays before the OS is loaded right? I checked BIOS settings and there is nothing to indicate the display ports/devices (however, this page on HP website shows a BIOS screen "Advanced" which apparently has those settings)
HP HDX16 with P7350. In CPU-Z I see core speed 1595.8 I'm observing and it changes to 1595.9 and then 1596.0 and then 1596.1 and then shoots up to 1995.0 - I have never seen it reach 2.0 and never go down below 1595. When processor speed changes I can here problems with sound while listening to music.
Another thing is the Bus speed, which is fixed at 266.0mhx, isn't it supposed to be 1066?
see attached screen.
Is it possible to use Wake On LAN with the M1730?
I've tried to look through the BIOS and there isn't specifically a option for it but it does mention in the NIC section Enable with "PXE" or "RPL". I've google a fair bit and can't find a solution so hence the new thread.
Ideally I'd like to connect via the wireless adaptor Intel 4965AGN from a hibernate state (or maybe sleep state).
I recently purchased an Acer 8920g. It came with Vista ultimate 64. I was very excited until after 3 hours of use the screen just went blank. The lights are still on the keyboard but the screen stays blank. I have cut it on and off, removed the battery and tried alt F10 . I finally got an error message the next morning when I opened the lid. [b]Your computer cant come out of hibernation mode
Status: 0xc0000411
Info: A fatal error ocurred processing the restoration data
File: hiberfil.sys
Any information that was not saved before the computer went into hibernation will be lost.
I Emailed Acer and they cant seem to understand that the screen is blank. They keep giving me directions after I boot into safe mode.
I didnt install anything except avg 8 free edition.
My SXPS 13 just freezes on wake up randomly. I am running Windows 7 x64. I recently had the motherboard replaced for a different issue but I can not remember if the freezing problem happened before the motherboard replacement.
Did anyone figure out how to fix the freezing issue? Is it hardware related? I have one month left on my warranty.
I have a Dell XPS 17 l702x 3D model. I hve been having issue on sleep mode for the past few weeks. Whenever I put it in sleep its fine, however when I press power button to wake up from sleep I get blank screen. The power button lits, the hard drive spin for a sec then stop and screen stays blank. Only way to get out of that is to force shutdown and restarting. Its same when hibernating, fails to wake up.
On a side note BIOS is upto date and my laptop is still under warranty.
My new laptop will not wake when it has gone to sleep.
Neither the keyboard, touchpad, screen or the power button will pull it from its slumber.
The fan starts, the light on the keyboard comes on, but it will never resume.
I have to turn ut off by holding "down" the power button for 10 secs, wait a bit, and then turn it on again.
I found a hint somewhere else that the bug could be related to Intel smart start. I disabled it in the bios, and now the computer resumes like expected.
However after boot up I get an error saying that "it seems smart start has been disabled" or something like that.
Lately my Acer will not wake up from sleep, has been shutting down on its own losing all my saved open windows sometimes not even leaving a history I can recover. Now it is disabling the wireless adapter so I am not able to be online until it reboots. I don't have an ethernet port so I have no other option. A Google searched revealed to update the Power Management Software but I am not able to locate how to do this.
View 6 Replies View Related- When I put the laptop in sleep by closing the monitor, if I open the monitor later, it will wake up but the screen (windows 8.1) is freezed.
I can move the mouse, and the keyboard is active (caps and num lock). However none of the controls on windows screen are active (password, shutdown button , etc). Ill need to keep the power button until it shuts down.
- If I put the laptop to sleep using the windows shutdown/sleep/restart option, it wakes up without problem.
- I tried to turn on hybrid sleep, but it made things worse. When waking up the monitor will be black for ever (the hard drive is working).
- I have installed the drivers from lenovo website. What else should I try?
I got my XPS 3 days ago and I've had the lingering issue of the computer not wanting to wake from sleep when I try to open the laptop again. The keyboard and power button lights up like it's working, but the screen never comes back on and I have to restart the computer.
View 15 Replies View RelatedA few days ago I've purchased Aspire E1-572. But im having problem waking my computer after being put to sleep.
I've installed all needed drivers, except BIOS.
But as it crucial to install this one correctly, cuz I assume that this might be the problem why I can't wake it up.
It's an issue that shows up now and then and I can't figure it out.
WinXP Pro, SP3+, 2.26GHz (does it at stock 1.7GHz too), 2GB DDR,
I have all Sleep options turned off in Power Settings....
I leave it on and plugged it most all the time, can get up in the Morning and its a Black screen and nothing I hit wakes it up. HD and other lights are on...but no waking up.
When my Win 7 arrives, I'll probably upgrade to a much larger HD and install it and the problem should be gone. (I have the RC installed on an old Athlon XPM Overclocked Desktop with 2GB Memory, GF6600GT Video - and it works great! And always wakes up!)
Just wondering if anyone has any ideas....its not like there are any newer drivers for these things...
The last day, I close the lid and the computer, theoretically, enters way sleep (or standby.).
On having turned to open the lid, the PC it was in StandBy but it does not wake up
I have tried all the keys, even I have turn off the laptop and turn on but it not wake up The screen is displayed black, without cursor, characters...no displays anything!
CD-Rom drive not runs either.
The laptop is in "sleep" eternally!
I have been getting BSOD seconds after waking up from a long sleep. I try sleeping it again on the restart and waking it up, but there's no BSOD. Anyone having this problem ? I checked my event viewer and this is what I got.

ive been having the problem where when i put my laptop to sleep, i cant get it to wake up again!
I press the power button and the blue lights flash etc. however the screen just remains black!
I believe other Dell users are having the same problem, ive searched around a bit and found other posts, but no answers yet?
Is it possible to remote turn on the laptop Dell Latitude e6400 ?
I understand the concept of the magic packet. My question is in which state do I have to turn off my laptop in order to have the Wake up on LAN working ?
A common issue, but here is what I know:
My 1420 with a Geforce 8400GS will not wake up from sleep. I know that it is the graphics cards fault, because everything else seems to be fine when I poen the lid.
I am using laptop2go 185.20 drivers.
Does anyone know how I can try to fix this, or what geforce 18x.xx drivers still wake up properly with an 8400 gs?
I am committed to the non-dell drivers, because Dell is horribly out of date, and the performance boost I get from the newer drivers is very worthwhile.
