HP/Compaq :: Display- On DV2731tx

Feb 19, 2010

it had a mess display (Attached below 1st picture)and crashed with blue screen. It seems like "nvlddkmm.sys error". If it restart in safe mode, it can work well for hours.429.jpg

But now, a worse situation is the screen divided 6 parts. The notebook totally can not be used. Please see the foloowing pictures.

I think it also caused by the Nvidia display chip G8400M GS.

But my notebook is out of warrenty.

HP/Compaq :: Display- Flickering, And Glitches In The Display

Jul 10, 2009

I am having some flickering, and glitches in the display, and it seems, that it depends on the lcd position. It starts after I open the display, or sometimes after the laptop has been in use for a long time. It happened before, and the hp service replaced the lcd, saying that was a faulty one, but now, with the new one, is starting again. Is a bad replacement? I have to worry for the videocard? or motherboard? I spent 350uss on the new lcd, and I really hope is the replacement.

HP/Compaq :: HP ZV5410 Display

Sep 19, 2009

It's been awhile but this HP Pavillion is giving Me a problem and I'm looking for suggestions. My Backlight I believe is not comeing on all the time. My machine boots up fine and the screen will stay black most of the time but sometimes will light up and display. Sometimes tapping the closed lid button will light the screen and sometimes not but it will always at least make it flicker. What will make the screen light up and work every time is if I twist the screen at the top and push the close lid button and release.

The screen will work fine every time this way till the machine is shut down and rebooted.

Then you need to do this trick again for the screen to come on. I believe it is the inverter or back light or connections on the light but am not positive which. Anybody have an idea which it is or a good way to test which it is? I already have the machine opened an have access to the inverter but would like to be more sure before I go after the light.

HP/Compaq :: Dv2000 Display

Aug 18, 2009

Last week out of nowhere i noticed some banding on my display. It would be really bad all of a sudden for a few seconds and then disappear for a few mins. It had not been dropped or mishandled at all. 2 days later the display completely went black (but the backlight was still on). I have been doing research about what the problem is and have read alot about how HP had a bunch of notebooks with bad motherboards and GPU's that had to be replaced. My computer still works fine - just with no display. When hooked up to an external display it work no problem. And the original display will flash on occasionally as well.

My question is:
Do I have the same problem as mentioned above with the bad motherboard?

Or is it just a display problem (that can hopefully be fixed with a quick display replacement?

HP/Compaq :: HP NX7400 Display

Today when I wanted to turn on the laptop, the screen was RED. I tried couple of times again, with connected to the power AC and without, but it starts Windows and everything is working, but my screen is still RED. I connected the laptop to an external monitor to check if the graphic card is causing the problem, but no, the picture was perfect. So I'm guessing it is something with inverters or the hole LCD. Do you have any ideas? And is is possible to buy spare parts from HP (I live in Germany)?

It is a HP NX7400 with WXGA (1280x800) Display.

HP/Compaq :: HP 530 LCD Display Shifted To Right4444444442

Nov 3, 2009

I am extremely disappointed these days bcoz of the way things are turning out for my HP 530 Laptop. And all these issues are happening merely bcoz of the fraud people in Mumbai, India whom I had given my laptop to for either LCD Screen replacement or By paying the money and changing the LCD screen. The computer market of Mumbai is highly equipped with people of dishonesty and fraud minded attitude and even if one pays money to them, they are still bound to cheat you! All are simply crooks and keep thinking of ways to cheat innocent and genuine people like me. The entire computer market in Mumbai city are filled with Frauds...thereby not leaving back a single person or an organization to trust on.
DFDSFDSFDS
My Laptop's Issue...
This morning, when I turned ON my laptop, I see the entire display of my Laptop being shifted from Right to Left by 10% thereby leaving black area at the right hand corner.

Last week, when I turned on my laptop for about few mins, the screen was perfect positioned fine. However, due to the internal fan not rotating, I had to shut down my laptop with 5-7 mins. I had also Disassembled and Reassembled the entire laptop 2 weeks back to check the Fan area if theres any dust and blew Vacuum Blower to remove any dust in the Fan area if any. Also, I could see the Fans connector being properly connected to Motherboard. After Re-assembling everything, I turned on my Laptop and I could still see the Display being positioned perfectly fine! But, the Fan still wasnt rotating.

Also, when I hooked up an external monitor to my Laptop VGA connection, the display positions perfectly fine on an external monitor! But still, the display remains shifted to Right on the LCD screen of my HP 530 Laptop. This I believe is a physical shift taken place as at BIOS mode also, the Display is shown shifted to right.

HP/Compaq :: Dv2224ea Display Drivers

May 1, 2009

I was wondering if anyone has any good display drivers for the go 7200? as I've underclocked the card with atitool and set up a couple of profiles.

the stock clocks are; 450 core and 700 memory and it will reach 82C I've tried the 8464 b drivers from hp but supposedly there's 8464 a drivers which I just can't download from any link I've found.

does anyone have these drivers as they are newer and its something else to try. I force installed te new nvidia notebook drivers but they work even worse.

or if there are any other drivers that other users have tried, I'll try anything that'll at least drop it below 70C, oh yeah I've underclocked it to 200 core and 600 memory and it still plays call of duty really smooth at 75 - 80 degrees! its so annoying

sorry I forgot to say its XP drivers I need . I've noticed the vista drivers are much further, can anyone tell me if these drivers work cooler? as I might actually install vista if that's the case.

HP/Compaq :: DV6000t Laptop Display/GPU

Mar 9, 2009

The video card is 7400go.

Yesterday I left my computer for 3 minutes unatended, and when I returned I saw that the screen was on but there was no picture. Something like a blank screensaver. So I restarted, but the screen still was not displaying anything. There is only backlight with absolutely no image whatsoever.

So I plugged in the laptop today to an external monitor, and the monitor displayed bars of RGB lines all over the place. So I am wonderring what do you guys think could have went wrong? Do you think it could be the GPU, bad connection? I can see that there is some HD activity going on through the led but nothing loads or makes a sound.

HP/Compaq :: Dv2500- Display Driver

Jan 22, 2009

my laptop is dv2500 and for e past 2 days, my display driver has been giving me a lot of problems.

at times, the screen would just go fuzzy and i won't be able to see anything so i have to power off my computer. at times, the screen goes totally blank and the computer restarts itself. when it does restart the screen stays blank and i have to shut down using alt+f4. at times i'll just get a BSOD for nvlddmkm error. and at times, the screen will go black and then return with the message "the display driver stopped responding and has recovered". the screen was fuzzy but i still did manage to make out that message.

i rolled back my driver to the default drivers that came with this laptop and after that, e screen has only gone blank once only to come back again totally alright 3 secs later with the same "display driver recovered" message.

this only started happening like 2-3 days ago but today it happened like atleast 5-6 times within 6 hrs. so i was wondering what's really the problem? i have searched around for people having this problem but their problem isn't as unique as mine. for them, it usually happens while playing games. for me it happens anytime, like during normal usage or whatever.

I tried different settings, but nothing did not help. Is there any solution to this problem? could be my graphic card or vga output damaged? Since with my 4 years old toshiba notebook, image was clear.

Has anybody docking station and is DVI output working fine (clear image)?

HP/Compaq :: Dust In Infinty Display

Feb 12, 2009

Last week I sent in my HP DV5T to get fixed because one of the supervisors set up a repair because I told them that there was dust between my Inifinity Screen and LCD and that there are keyboard impressions on my screen. I send it in, and wait and check the order status.

Last night I checked and saw that I had a service charge of $428.35 so I called and questioned them. They told me that we had to "Escalate" the problem and that I have to personally talk to a Case Manager. I call the Manager and I tell him my problems. He tells me that the two problems that I have are out of warranty claims and that it is physical.

I argueed for almost an hour and still nothing. I gave up and they are in the process of returning my laptop. Thing is that, he said that the issue of having dust and keyboard impressions are now in the "ISSUE TRACKER" status and that HP will be looking out for others that have the same problem.

So what I'm hoping is that many of you that have DUST or Keyboard impressions with your INFINITY Display, call up HP and complain because they said if they hear about it enough, that it will fall into a Design Flaw and that we will all get Brand New screens.

I've noticed that all HP Infinity Displays get dust by people that posted comments here on the Notebook Review, so whether or not you have a DV5T or anything else, just as long as you have a INFINITY SCREEN, you should call and complain because we should not be held responsible with the repair costs for a design flaw.

HP/Compaq :: DV6-213bCA Display Blacking Out

Mar 18, 2010

DV6-2138CA laptop.I have an external monitor connected to the SVGA port and it seems that when the audio is muted and the computer boots up the internal display blacks out leaving me with the extended desktop on the external monitor. There is no taskbar or desktop icons on the external display. The computer is set to extend the desktop to this monitor.

Why on earth is the built in display blacking out? Reinstalled the video drivers.

I have to say that both HP chat support and HP support by email is a total waste of time. They kept wanting me to install drivers for hardware that the laptop did not have or having me apply a BIOS update which in fact was an older version and the factory installed version can not be provided.

HP/Compaq :: Pavilion Dv5 Display Crashing

Jan 23, 2010

I have a HP Pavilion dv5 laptop which is just over a year oldand seems to have developed a serious display problem since I bought it.

I have only started using the HDMI port on this model since around october and notice I often get a terrible bug when using it.

i can be watching somethin gon a monitor via hdmi or simply have something connected to it and at random the screens (laptop and external) flicker on and off. I get the popup speech bubble style error in the taskbar saying a "Device Driver has Stopped Working"

Sometimes it recovers but most of the time the screen crashes as does any audio or anything else playing and a scattered mixed up mess of a screen gets locked into view. The only thing i can do then is restart the device.

HP/Compaq :: How Important Is DVI / HDMI For A 24 Inch Display

Jun 12, 2009

I'm trying to decide between a HP 6930p (14.1") or 8530p (15.4"). I would prefer a 14 inch laptop. However, the 6930p only has a VGA port; the 8530p has an HDMI port. Probably 50% of the time its in use, it will be connected to a 24 inch display (a Dell 2408wfp).

I am concerned about the difference in picture quality between the VGA versus the digital connection? In practice, how much difference am I likely to notice? I will be using it mainly for office type work.

HP/Compaq :: Display Driver Update HDX18

Feb 13, 2009

I have a weird behavior of my brand new HP HDX18 (running Windows Vista 64 bit).

The Laptop does not play BluRay DVDs any more. It only worked two times. I can access the BluRay file system so I assume that the BluRay drive is working. Then trying to watch the movie with either HP MediaSmart or Windows Media Center, both programs hang and need to be stopped via Task Manager.

HP support recommended a video driver update - but...

When I try to install the recommended update of the display driver from the HP HDX18 support site, it installs and the laptop remains working (I hear sounds when receiving new emails or when wiping my finger on the finger print sensor), but the result is simply a black screen. Same thing when using the nvidia beta drivers for notebook chips.

I tried to first switch to Standard VGA, then removing the old nvidia package, then installing the new driver. Same result: A black screen.

All I can do is doing a system recovery to get a working display again.

I did the BIOS update that I downloaded from the HP site as well. I currently have the Spyder software for screen calibration running.

HP support also recommended a "hard reset" of my windows installation, but since I just finished the complete installation of all programs I need, this is not what I really want.

HP/Compaq :: HP Nc6400 Display Problem (hardware)

Dec 6, 2009

I have an HP nc6400 that was given to me. It is BNIB, but was put aside and never used because the display was always bad (someone forgot to warranty the unit back in the day).

Anyways, the laptop runs fine. All drivers are ok, XP SP2 installed, etc.

However, the laptop will boot and look great, but a few minutes in the display will go "black". You can faintly see the icons and desktop, but the light just goes out--if you know what I mean. My guess is a backlight or inverter, but I am far from a laptop expert and before I spend the money on the part, I'd like to hear from anyone who has experience with this (any tests I can run to tell for sure, kniown problems, etc)

FWIW, I can hook the laptop up to an external monitor and the display is great, so I know it is not driver related.

I believe it is the model with WXGA (1280x800) and not WXGA+. I assume when replacing anything, I'll need to look for WXGA parts.

It's a great little laptop and I'd like to get it working. I actually like the look and feel of it better than my Latitude D630.

HP/Compaq :: Dv6000z Display (but May Apply To Othernotebooks)

Nov 22, 2009

Every now and then I will press the power button to boot up my notebook the notebook will start to boot but the display will not work. After maybe 10 seconds it'll restart and keep restarting but each interval the notebook is on gets shorter so that I may press the button to power it on but it won't stay on more than a second (the notebook is already plugged into an outlet).

Of course, this happens occasionally and so far I haven't dug up anything that could explain the reason why it does this. I do have an nVidia graphics card in there but I don't know whether that would truly be the cause of it.
