HP/Compaq :: Best Calibration Set For Aninfinity Display
Feb 26, 2009
Someone got better settings to make in the nvidia control panel in order to improve the colors display?
(I know that is an infinity display and it's hard but there should be a correct settings to view better movies and gameplay in this kind of display. Not perfect but enjoyable.)

I recently purchased a dv4-1275mx special edition, and would like to calibrate the battery. The battery is suppose to last up to 6 hours (I'm expecting about 4-4.5). Does it screw up the calibration if I am using it while letting the battery run down. I have the screen turn off disabled and the sleep disabled, but I am using a screen saver.

I have a Dell 1537 with an LGD018D 1280x800 LCD screen.
How do I calibrate it? I've seen a Toshiba today and I really think that my
colours are really messed up, I can't seem to get them vibrant, real, live....
Black isn't quite black, it's kind of washed....

I got a mid 2009 MBP last week, I decided to calibrate its battery based on apple instruction, I charged it fully, after 2 hours I disconnected it for complete discharging, but I left my MBP and it went to sleep for 10 minutes, I turn it on again and finished calibration process, Is it necessary to re-calibrate it because of that 10 MINs sleeping?

I was incidentally looking for some calibration tips for my Unibody Macbook Pro (late 2008) and I figured, why not set up a thread in which we can actually share our calibration profiles...
I've got the 9C84 which is the LG/Philips LP154WP3-TLA1 as far as Google says.
You can check your display manufacturer in System Preferences click Displays, go to Color tab and "Open Profile". In this list scroll down to number 17 which is "Apple display make and model information".
This is what Google says:
9C84 = LG/Philips LP154WP3-TLA1 (15" MacBook Pro)
9C85 = Chi Mei N154C6-L04 (15" MacBook Pro)
9C89 = LG/Philips LP133WX2 (MacBook UniBody)
Don't know about the Air, sorry.
There are quite a few people sharing their calibrations on Macrumors and other forums, I've tried some of them and frankly, they're either too blue or too bright...........

My Yoga 2 Pro battery is discharging is rather quickly. I have seen this forum that I can perform a battery calibration with Battery Manager.
My question is: should I do it while my Yoga 2 is plugged with on the AC adapter or not? If not, should I do it when the battery is at 100%?

If the system has been on battery at any point of the session, color calibration seems to mess itself up according to what's on screen. If darker colors dominate the screen, the colors slowly (but visibly) go all weird. When there's mostly white content on screen, it returns to normal.
I've been browsing some power management settings and none of them seems to relate to this. The system is W520 with FHD screen, Intel 8.15.10.2538 drivers, Nvidia 332.21 drivers, Windows 7. This does not occur in Ubuntu, nor on an external monitor.

I am having some flickering, and glitches in the display, and it seems, that it depends on the lcd position. It starts after I open the display, or sometimes after the laptop has been in use for a long time. It happened before, and the hp service replaced the lcd, saying that was a faulty one, but now, with the new one, is starting again. Is a bad replacement? I have to worry for the videocard? or motherboard? I spent 350uss on the new lcd, and I really hope is the replacement.

It's been awhile but this HP Pavillion is giving Me a problem and I'm looking for suggestions. My Backlight I believe is not comeing on all the time. My machine boots up fine and the screen will stay black most of the time but sometimes will light up and display. Sometimes tapping the closed lid button will light the screen and sometimes not but it will always at least make it flicker. What will make the screen light up and work every time is if I twist the screen at the top and push the close lid button and release.
The screen will work fine every time this way till the machine is shut down and rebooted.
Then you need to do this trick again for the screen to come on. I believe it is the inverter or back light or connections on the light but am not positive which. Anybody have an idea which it is or a good way to test which it is? I already have the machine opened an have access to the inverter but would like to be more sure before I go after the light.

Last week out of nowhere i noticed some banding on my display. It would be really bad all of a sudden for a few seconds and then disappear for a few mins. It had not been dropped or mishandled at all. 2 days later the display completely went black (but the backlight was still on). I have been doing research about what the problem is and have read alot about how HP had a bunch of notebooks with bad motherboards and GPU's that had to be replaced. My computer still works fine - just with no display. When hooked up to an external display it work no problem. And the original display will flash on occasionally as well.
My question is:
Do I have the same problem as mentioned above with the bad motherboard?
Or is it just a display problem (that can hopefully be fixed with a quick display replacement?

Today when I wanted to turn on the laptop, the screen was RED. I tried couple of times again, with connected to the power AC and without, but it starts Windows and everything is working, but my screen is still RED. I connected the laptop to an external monitor to check if the graphic card is causing the problem, but no, the picture was perfect. So I'm guessing it is something with inverters or the hole LCD. Do you have any ideas? And is is possible to buy spare parts from HP (I live in Germany)?
It is a HP NX7400 with WXGA (1280x800) Display.

it had a mess display (Attached below 1st picture)and crashed with blue screen. It seems like "nvlddkmm.sys error". If it restart in safe mode, it can work well for hours.429.jpg
But now, a worse situation is the screen divided 6 parts. The notebook totally can not be used. Please see the foloowing pictures.
I think it also caused by the Nvidia display chip G8400M GS.
But my notebook is out of warrenty.

I am extremely disappointed these days bcoz of the way things are turning out for my HP 530 Laptop. And all these issues are happening merely bcoz of the fraud people in Mumbai, India whom I had given my laptop to for either LCD Screen replacement or By paying the money and changing the LCD screen. The computer market of Mumbai is highly equipped with people of dishonesty and fraud minded attitude and even if one pays money to them, they are still bound to cheat you! All are simply crooks and keep thinking of ways to cheat innocent and genuine people like me. The entire computer market in Mumbai city are filled with Frauds...thereby not leaving back a single person or an organization to trust on.

My Laptop's Issue...
This morning, when I turned ON my laptop, I see the entire display of my Laptop being shifted from Right to Left by 10% thereby leaving black area at the right hand corner.
Last week, when I turned on my laptop for about few mins, the screen was perfect positioned fine. However, due to the internal fan not rotating, I had to shut down my laptop with 5-7 mins. I had also Disassembled and Reassembled the entire laptop 2 weeks back to check the Fan area if theres any dust and blew Vacuum Blower to remove any dust in the Fan area if any. Also, I could see the Fans connector being properly connected to Motherboard. After Re-assembling everything, I turned on my Laptop and I could still see the Display being positioned perfectly fine! But, the Fan still wasnt rotating.
Also, when I hooked up an external monitor to my Laptop VGA connection, the display positions perfectly fine on an external monitor! But still, the display remains shifted to Right on the LCD screen of my HP 530 Laptop. This I believe is a physical shift taken place as at BIOS mode also, the Display is shown shifted to right.

I was wondering if anyone has any good display drivers for the go 7200? as I've underclocked the card with atitool and set up a couple of profiles.
the stock clocks are; 450 core and 700 memory and it will reach 82C I've tried the 8464 b drivers from hp but supposedly there's 8464 a drivers which I just can't download from any link I've found.
does anyone have these drivers as they are newer and its something else to try. I force installed te new nvidia notebook drivers but they work even worse.
or if there are any other drivers that other users have tried, I'll try anything that'll at least drop it below 70C, oh yeah I've underclocked it to 200 core and 600 memory and it still plays call of duty really smooth at 75 - 80 degrees! its so annoying
sorry I forgot to say its XP drivers I need . I've noticed the vista drivers are much further, can anyone tell me if these drivers work cooler? as I might actually install vista if that's the case.

The video card is 7400go.
Yesterday I left my computer for 3 minutes unatended, and when I returned I saw that the screen was on but there was no picture. Something like a blank screensaver. So I restarted, but the screen still was not displaying anything. There is only backlight with absolutely no image whatsoever.
So I plugged in the laptop today to an external monitor, and the monitor displayed bars of RGB lines all over the place. So I am wonderring what do you guys think could have went wrong? Do you think it could be the GPU, bad connection? I can see that there is some HD activity going on through the led but nothing loads or makes a sound.

my laptop is dv2500 and for e past 2 days, my display driver has been giving me a lot of problems.
at times, the screen would just go fuzzy and i won't be able to see anything so i have to power off my computer. at times, the screen goes totally blank and the computer restarts itself. when it does restart the screen stays blank and i have to shut down using alt+f4. at times i'll just get a BSOD for nvlddmkm error. and at times, the screen will go black and then return with the message "the display driver stopped responding and has recovered". the screen was fuzzy but i still did manage to make out that message.
i rolled back my driver to the default drivers that came with this laptop and after that, e screen has only gone blank once only to come back again totally alright 3 secs later with the same "display driver recovered" message.
this only started happening like 2-3 days ago but today it happened like atleast 5-6 times within 6 hrs. so i was wondering what's really the problem? i have searched around for people having this problem but their problem isn't as unique as mine. for them, it usually happens while playing games. for me it happens anytime, like during normal usage or whatever.

I bought HP 6930p with ATI graphic card, WIN 7, and connected to the external display 24" (1920x1080) trough VGA port. There is a very noticable blurry and annoying image on external display. I tried different settings, but nothing did not help. Is there any solution to this problem? could be my graphic card or vga output damaged? Since with my 4 years old toshiba notebook, image was clear.
Has anybody docking station and is DVI output working fine (clear image)?

my dv6-2044ca (amd turion ii mobile dual core, 4gb ram, mobility radeon hd 4200), whenever i try to connect to a network and it fails, i have this thing sticking on my desktop wherever i go until i shut down the computer...
second question,
HP's display drivers (ati) are 8.635xxxxx and it's what i currently have.
however, at ATI's website, they have the 8.65 version..
what is recommended?
should i take the HP's drivers, but less updated? or should i take the gfx maker's updated drivers, but not from HP?
my friend has the 8.65 and it has "-ATI" at the end whereas i have the 8.635 and it has "-HP" at the end.

I've had my HP DV2000 for about a year. Recently I started having this problem. I would boot it up and the screen would be distorted like the image below. Sometimes it freezes and other times it just stays like that. I've ran MemTest to test the memory and that came out fine. I've also formatted it and started from scratch and it remains the same.

Last week I sent in my HP DV5T to get fixed because one of the supervisors set up a repair because I told them that there was dust between my Inifinity Screen and LCD and that there are keyboard impressions on my screen. I send it in, and wait and check the order status.
Last night I checked and saw that I had a service charge of $428.35 so I called and questioned them. They told me that we had to "Escalate" the problem and that I have to personally talk to a Case Manager. I call the Manager and I tell him my problems. He tells me that the two problems that I have are out of warranty claims and that it is physical.
I argueed for almost an hour and still nothing. I gave up and they are in the process of returning my laptop. Thing is that, he said that the issue of having dust and keyboard impressions are now in the "ISSUE TRACKER" status and that HP will be looking out for others that have the same problem.
So what I'm hoping is that many of you that have DUST or Keyboard impressions with your INFINITY Display, call up HP and complain because they said if they hear about it enough, that it will fall into a Design Flaw and that we will all get Brand New screens.
I've noticed that all HP Infinity Displays get dust by people that posted comments here on the Notebook Review, so whether or not you have a DV5T or anything else, just as long as you have a INFINITY SCREEN, you should call and complain because we should not be held responsible with the repair costs for a design flaw.
