I'm currently running windows 8.1 and I've never had this problem before but out of the blue I can no longer tap with two fingers to right click.I've restarted and restored my system to no avail?

The touchpad itself seems to be operating normally. I surmise I inadvertently deactivated the touchpad. I checked the manual, but it did not reveal how to reactivate (or deactivate) the touchpad buttons. How to reactivate the touchpad buttons, such as using the shortcut keys? I read one post in a PC forum of a similar situation; in that situation, the user's touchpad cable had come loose, but I understand this is a rare occurrence. How to reactivate the touchpad left and right-click buttons.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI've recently purchases a Lenovo ThinkPad Edge 540 and it worked just fine untill earlyer today.While i was browsing the internet, some how my touchpad developed a problem.It only registeres right click where ever i click.I've deleted the drivers, even tho they were the knewest ones, downloaded a fresh .exe and installed it after the reset and what not and it still has the same problem.
If i turn off the touchpad in the ultranav software and enable only trackapad, the buttons work like they should, the large area in the touchpad registeres as the left click and the small area in the top right is registered as the right click. Tho i can't use the touchpad for navigation.So clicking doesn't works, well neither does tapping. I can doubletap normaly, but i cannot tap and drag such as selecting a block of text.
Again, i've already tried a fresh install of ultranav drivers and it didn't work. The problem manifested itself during normal browsing, nothing was installed nor changed hardware vise. It litteraly changed in a second.how to solve it since the driver reinstall didn't work.

View 3 Replies View RelatedMy laptop was beginning to slow down so I've done a reinstall of windows and wiped my SSD clean (I replaced the original HDD with an SSD a while back).
Because of this I've not got a backup partition containing my drivers.
My fingerprint sensor has stopped working. It says an error has occured whenever I try to use it even though my fingerprint was saved in my user accounts as a sign in option.
Where do I get the driver for this?
Also, I now no longer have HP Recovery Manager that had all of the drivers. Where can I download this?

I have a new XPS 12 and has been working fine until today, I lost the cursor for a while. When that came back, I can no longer click (left or right) anything. HAVE to use touch screen. I use mostly as laptop rather than tablet, so would rather get my click back!

I've noticed that when I shut down the computer, just before everything turns off I hear a loud(ish) click from the back of the computer. Same sort of noise as when you turn on a light switch, maybe a little sharper.

I have recently been hearing a random "Click" from the hard drive, however it is not a constant click, and is not a problem that CHKDSK has picked up on, as I ran it several times and it told me the HDD was fine.
The click can be described as the sound you might hear when pushing in a CD/DVD Tray on a drive that doesn't have the motor that automatically pulls it in. so that "click" noise when it is being locked in on some laptops.
That's the noise my Hard Drive is making. Sometimes 10 times a minute, sometimes once an hour. Very random.
The laptop is a week old, however I've been informed the HDD was changed for some reason when I bought it (ebay power seller), I am following up to find out why it was changed... and with what.
Drive is a Toshiba MK6459GSX. 640gb.
I also downloaded VirtualCloneDrive to mount an iso... and it didn't seem to do this before I did that I don't think? But it also didn't happen right after I downloaded that either sooo... thinking about trying to uninstall?
Before I bought this laptop, I asked apple about 5 times if the new single right click on the trackpad is supported in Windows and they said yes. I buy the laptop, install windows.. and the only way to do a right click is to tap using three fingers.

Recently, I have a problem when right-clicking files anywhere on my notebook and when I press the Delete button. Normally, I don't have any lag when trying to delete files or trying to right click even on my desktop to access the properties. However, recently I have to wait almost about 15 seconds before I'm able to access the right-click menu on anything.
I've check my spyware and anti-virus with Spybot and Symantec Endpoint protection respectively. I've even checked with Windows Defender and all say that everything is fine. I've done a Disk Defragment and Disk Cleanup and still the problem persists. I don't have many applications running in the background and I've at wit's end. What else am I still missing?
I just got a MacBook Pro 13 in and noticed that when I'm using it but then get up to move somewhere else, it makes a clicking sound as I lift up from my lap. Is this normal? Maybe the hard drive is preparing to move or something?

View 10 Replies View RelatedI have had this problem for a while. I used to have Vista installed on my 1420, it had taken me a long time to find a 64bit driver for the ALPS touchpad that featured middle click (when you click both buttons, it registers as a middle click).
Now, I am on Windows 7, all Vista 64 bit drivers for the ALPS work with Windows 7, but I am having trouble finding the driver that I had used with Vista64 that allowed me to use middle click.
I have searched on Dell's driver page and literally installed almost every driver they have for ALPS touchpads. Almost all of them have the ability to use the feature middle click, but they never work. I was wondering if there are any 1420 owners out there that have, or know where one could find a 64 bit driver that allows me to use middle click?
if there is a way to fix a hard drive that is allready to the death click stage? I have a hard drive that has me and my wife's pictures from our first date, and it has gone poopie.

"Cannot start Click to Disc because the related programs required to create a disc cannot be found.
VAIO Content Importer will start so that you may import media files from the device to the hard disk drive."
I am not able to figure out which programs are missing for disc creation.
Looks like the default drivers have 3 finger gestures but no two finger right click. What gives. Can I just download a different driver?
View 3 Replies View RelatedWhen the laptop is on and I pick it up to move it I would often hear a loud CLICK sound coming from the HD. It had me freaked out that something was loose or that the heads were scratching the platters.
I just came across an article explaining what this noise has been. It is the sound of the read/write heads parking because of the "Sudden Motion Sensor" built into the laptop. It senses the rapid movement when I pick up the laptop and then it parks the heads to prevent scratching the platters... that is the click sound of the heads parking.
The sensor is a tri-axis accelerometer that detects sudden changes in "position and accelerated movement".
Anyways, I tested this to see if it was the "sudden motion sensor" parking the heads:
- first I confirmed that the sound would still occur when picking up the laptop and tilting it quickly while still on
- then I checked the sensor's settings to see if it was really on by running a command I found in the linked article.
- then I turned off the sensor (that command is also in the article).
- then I tested by picking up the laptop again and tilting it quickly...
no more CLICK
I enabled the sensor again because it is better to have it enabled than to risk scratching a platter if I drop the laptop. I'm just happy to have found the source of the CLICK and to know it wasn't a faulty HDD.

There has been an ongoing and as yet to be fixed issue concerning CTO Macbook Pro's with 7200 RPM drives. I would be interested in knowing if any of you who have purchased a Macbook Pro (since June 2009) from Apple with a 7200 RPM drive, have NOT had this issue. I am using HP Pavilion G6 notebook with product number LR774PA#ACJ .Neither the touchpad lock is working nor the click functionality of the toucpad.
