HP Envy M4-1015x OS/Software :: Selected Boot Image Did Not Authenticate
Nov 27, 2012
I just removed the stock HDD that came with my M4-1015x and now I'm trying to install windows 7 to the SSD that I replaced it with. However, upon boot up I get the message "Selected boot image did not authenticate. Press <enter> to continue" when the laptop attempts to read the OS from the disc. I've never seen this before... (It's a legitimate DVD copy of Windows 7) ...
I just bought a new HP ENVY-4 with Windows 8 pre-installed. After some weeks in which it worked fine, the computer started to have some trouble. Then it simply did not start anymore. As I shitch on, stay for a while with black screen and then a blue mask appears saying "selected boot image did not authenticate". Only chance is therefore to press ENTER and then the computer shut off completely. I went trough your forum and tries almost everything. Recovery tools run, but not resolve. After the treatment, the problem is still there. I noticed that If I try to run the tool "repair problems to start windows", computer says that was not able to repair.. I also open BIOS and changed the setting relevant to secure boot and legacy mode... the computer simply does not start! I finally re-formatted the PC trhough the USB reboot key, (done with the HP support tool, when it was new)... same problem appear as I restart!
I have an envy touchscreen4 and my recent problem ia that an internet image is slightly larger than the screen - in other words I have to move the screen R or L to see it all ??

I found this (http://www.blogsdna.com/805/how-to-c...ell-laptop.htm) and i was wondering if there was some way to do this on an m1530 or if that technique works on a 1530..
I have recently bought a Flex 2 15 and want to instal Win 7. I created a bootable Win 7 usb stick with the tool from Microsoft and it works just fine. The problem is, no matter what I change in Bios or Boot manager, The laptop doesn't boot from usb. All I get is the normal Win 8.1 installation.

When I turn my computer on, it loads to a gray screen saying "No boot image found, notebook will shut down". There is a blue button that says "OK" under this sentence. When I click it, the computer turns off.
I own a vaio Z620d and I'm trying to do a clean install of windows vista business. I downloaded all the latest drivers and utilities from sony support site but whenever I finished installing the Sony utilities, I'd get this error complaining about my battery is not supported/authenticate. Even though the battery is the sony one from the box itself!
I know that you can prevent the ISBMgr from launching in the msconfig, but I do not want to do that. As I read from a post that the ISB utility controls the FN Keys and Eject Button.

I am hoping to buy an HP Envy 15 j102saI want to fit an mSATA SSD as well as the hard drive1. Does this model have a free mSATA bay?2. Is it possible to boot off the SSD and will it require a boot loader from the HDD?
I was trying to install windows 7 when i got the "Windows cannot be installed to this disk. The selected disk has an MBR partition table. On EFI systems, Windows can only be installed to GTP disks etc" Error.
I know i needed to disable something in bios but this laptop's bios isn't very detailed , i tried disabling the Legacy boot and now the laptop doesn't boot up anymore, not even in bios. When i power it on all i get is a black screen and the Caps lock blinks twice.
I tried pressing the windows key+B+ power button for one second while the laptop is shut down but it didn't do anything.
I have a Inspiron Mini 1012. I created the restore factory image on a usb through the Dell DataSafe local backup program that it came with. Had no problem installing it. But when I turn on computer and boot into the usb I get an all black screen with the following. BTW the laptop has no problem starting up regularly no issues at all. Will be selling and want to wipe the drive.
WINDOWS BOOT MANAGER:
WINDOWS FAILED TO START. A RECENT HARDWARE OR SOFTWARE CHANGE MIGHT BE THE CAUSE.
System Will not Wake Up from Sleep Mode / power button continues to glow even when shutdown option is selected Motherboard failure due to any internal short circuit could be the reason of this technical glitch...
I forgot my administration windows log in password after a vacation. I have down loaded a free program called Ophcrack and had set my laptop to boot from a cd 1st but I just cannot get the laptop to boot from a cd. It just keeps booting up from the internal drive.
The cd is an image and is bootable on my desktop.
The notebook Model: HP ENVY m6 Notebook PC Product Number: C2N77UA#ABL BIOS Version: F.25 Processor Type: Intel(R) Core i7-3632QM CPU @ 2.20GHz OS: Windows 8.1
I did not make a password reset disk (I am learning it the hard way now!). I don't want to do a "System Recovery" because I do have quite a bit of data on it.
I realize there are paid windows password recovery tools out there but I would like to use this "free program" to try to crack it 1st.
How to set the bios properly so the notebook can be booted from a cd. I also did try to boot it up from an usb drive but the notebook kept booting from its internal drive.
I have hp envy m6 notebook.it does not boot-up and give the attached error message. When hard disk test was done, it gives the error code in second attachment.
the Hard drive on my HP ENVY dv4 crashed and I have replaced it with a Samsung SSD 840 PRO. I dont have a back-up and have had to purchase a new version of Windows 8.I am trying to install this operating system, but when I turn on the computer it tells me that there is no boot device is found. How to I get the computer to read the new windows 8 disk that I have purchased so that I can install the operating system?
I'm having a problem to install windows 7 pro on my Lenovo t440s ( that came with windows 8 ) using a memory stick.I went to the windows 7 installation menu and formatted the Windows 8 partition, so now I have :
Disk 0 Partition 1: WINRE_DRV 1GB OEM Disk 0 Partition 2 : System_DRV 260MB System Disk 0 Partition 3 128MB MSR Disk 0 Unnallocated Space 225GB ( it was the old windows 8 partition ) Disk 0 Partition 4: Lenovo_Recory 12.1GB OEM
However, when i try to use the free space to install the windows 7 i get this error :" Windows cannot be installed to this disk. The selected disk is of the GPT partitions style. "
I tried to bot using Legacy Boot Only and after using UEFI/Legacy Boot and nothing changed, I'm still receiving the same error.I read that I have to select each of the partitions on the drive, and select Delete. Then the drive will show a single area of unallocated space that I should use to install windows.there is any problem in delete all my partitions of Lenovo T440s? Can I delete the OEM partitions?
Will not boot..has the error msg "Boot device not found" "please install an OS on your hard disk". Has "2" flashing lights, can only access F1 & F2 from boot menu. F9,F10 & "enter to continue setup" options take u right back to initial error msg screen.
In F2 diagnostics, ran memory test and passed but failed hard drive test on both quick & extensive. Failed id#M0FW03-6AD79M-XD7X0K-60CM03.
I have an ENVY 17 (3277nr) with windows 8.1 in it but I'm unable to update it since several months ago so I decided to reinstall the OS so I went to the windows site that lets you download an ISO image of windows 8.1 to burn it into a disc (right now I dont have a 4gb usb at hand but is also possible).
I already burned the disc by right clicking the ISO and selecting 'burn disc image' and changed the boot options but every time I turn on my computer all I see is a single underscore and then the regular windows 8 boot screen.
I already visited wbesites in this regard and I've read things like the windows 8 UEFI thing (not on my laptop since I've upgraded from w7) and the security settings on the BIOS but none of them seem to fix the problem.
Additional details:
Oddly, when trying to open the burned dvd it only says 4.37gb out of 4.37gb, do you think my dvd drive might be damaged?
My computer won't boot an I have the error stated in the title. Also where is the installation disk I can use to fix my computer, do you get them with the pc.
I am having difficulty booting Windows 8 on my HP Envy 4 Ultrabook. Firstly when I try to login to Windows using my Windows 8 password it says "The User Profile Service service failed the sign-in. User profile cannot be loaded".
Then following advice from other online support forums including this one, on restarting the computer then pressing F8 repeatedly I get the following message: "Boot device not found. Please install an OS on your hard disk. Hard disk (3F0).
I have an HP envy 14 beats edition that has a corrupt or missing boot files. The instructions are very simple, enter your windows cd, select language, and then repair. What if my laptop didn't come with a windows cd, just a recovery cd? How do I repair my files. Can I download the files somewhere to boot up and repair my laptop os?
I have a HP ENVY TouchSmart m6-k025dx Sleekbook (ENERGY STAR)
From a cold state ( computer been off for a more then hour). I need to press the power button twice, Frist press the power button lights and the wireless lights and the screen activate with a glow, then black no lights and black screen press power button again and boots normally and fine No error or warnings
This does not seem to be normal and I can not remember the last time it booted from the first power button push.
When I download the bios driver from hp oficial site and intall it after completion of installation my pc restart and shows ''boot device not found 0f3 error'' .......
I have been trying to disable SecureBoot and enable Legacy boot. This is a fairly straight forward process, press F10 to enter the BIOS, scroll over to the proper area and press F5 over Legacy boot to enable it (Which automatically disables SecureBoot). I have tried this quite a few times and each time have had no success. Everytime I change this setting and restart the computer it just ends up with Legacy Boot disabled and SecureBoot enabled. Yes, I am saving the settings, if I change other settings (Such as Virtualization support) they do save. Why I cannot save these settings after changing them?
I have an HP Envy 15-U010DX. I have also updated the BIOS and am running the latest version.
Today, I was prompted by the HP Support Assistant software that a BIOS update was available, so I had the application download and install the update. When the computer came back up, it is stating the a boot device cannot be found.
I have an HP ENVY TouchSmart m7-j010dx Notebook PC running Windows 8.1. Laptop was functioning just fine prior to the update, which means I probably shouldn't have allowed the BIOS update.
When i'm turn on my HP envy 4-1257er after the sudden shutdown on the screen displays the HP logo that says "please wait". After a few seconds appears the "blue screen with a sad smiley" and further reads:
"Recovery. Your PC needs to be repaired. The boot configuration data file is missing some required information. File: BCD. Error code: 00xc0000034. You need to use the recovery tools on your installation media. Is your don't have any installation media (like a disc or USB device), contact your system administrator or PC manufacturer. Press ESC for UEFI firmware settings. "
After pressing the ESC button opens a Startup Menu with a choose an actions like: f1 - system information (worked), f2 - system diagnostic (worked), f9 - boot device options (doesn't work) , f10 - BIOS setup (doesn't work), f11 - system recovery (doesn't work). When I click on these buttons (f9, f10, f11) again loaded a blue screen with an error. On the usb-drives with images does not respond in any way.
I'm trying to boot from legacy boot from my new dell 7000 series. however when i change from uefi to legacy i have no boot option. the whole boot list is empty.
i have called dell and the support desk told me dell has no support for legacy :S that means no windows 7 on my dell or any other os that uses non uefi...... i think the bios is corrupt is the whole list is simply missing.
