i have this hp pavilion dv2120us notebook that gives me no image at all when ever i try to power it on, the leds of the keyboard light up but non of them blink neither does it make a beep sound, the harddrive activity led doesesnt blink, but the dvd drive and the cpu fan do start normaly, i tried cheking the ram modules and still the same,
View 7 RepliesI broke the hinge of the laptop's lcd. I replace the hinge, there was a cable that was broken, I realize that cable was not related to the lcd since it was connect to the wireless network chip.
I made sure all the lcd cable are plug in the laptop motherboard.
On the back of the lcd, there was white tape and it said do not touch, I accidentally touch this by mistake. I don't know if this is really serious.
Now, the laptop does not have any picture, but the light is on, the lcd has a grayish color, its like its about to load, but no image comes up.
This issue occurred during the hinge breaking.
I hope I didn't break the lcd.
Model is dv2037us.
The laptop is fine if I hook it up to a monitor via vga port.
I've got a problem with a Compaq C700. When the laptop is powered on the LCD is showing a screwed up image, when I plug an external monitor in the picture is fine on that screen. I purchased a replacement screen, but that shows the same image.
View 3 Replies View RelatedI'm having a problem with HDMI output from my dv7-3079wm to my 37" LG 1080p LCD. When I view the input on my TV, there is a black border around the image (like it is overscanned?). This happens at most resolutions, except for 1360x768, and I would like to watch Blurays in 1080p. So I'm not sure why it is doing this. I also tried this on a 42" Hitachi 720p TV with the same result (all resolutions) so I don't think that it is the TV. I couldn't find any settings in Catalyst Control Center also. My graphics card is an ATi Mobility Radeon 4650.

View 8 Replies View RelatedI have spent two plus days searching thread after thread and I am not getting anywhere! If someone could point me in the right direction I would appreciate it. I just got my 1645 yesterday and what I want to do is to remove the hard drive and put it into my desktop and create an image. I will be formatting the drive removing all three partitions and install another OS. Later on down the road I want to be able to reimage my drive with the original backup. I do not want to clone the drive as I will be using it... I have tried Drive Image and it successfully makes a backup image and when I use it to image another drive the 'OS' & 'Recovery' partitions are fine, and the computer even boots into Windows. But when I use F8 to access the repair console I get a '0xc000000e' error. All of the information I find is somewhat outdated and refers to the period when Dell used Mediadirect.

HD: Seagate 80gb 7200 rpm
Problem: I was using my typing a word document when all of the sudden a pattern of yellow distortion came accross the screen and windows frooze. I tried rebooting windows but even the splash screen that came up right after you turn the computer on is distorted, during startup every image is distorted somehow including the windows splash screen and all shown dos screens(random characters all over the place in dos). It won't boot into windows normally, it gives a blue error screen and then restarts but it will go into safemode (with distortion of course). I tried plugging into two different crt monitors to see if it was a problem with the monitor but they displayed "Signal out of range." I plugged into an LCD monitor and it would display the image but still showed a "Signal out of range." box bouncing around even though it was showing windows in safe mode (still distorted.) I have never seen this problem before. I booted from an xp cd and did a fixboot comand but it still won't boot into windows normal. I uninstalled the video drivers in safemode which would then allow me to boot into windows but I still had the distortion. I reflashed the mobo bios. (nothing changed) Reinstalling the drivers would cause it to crash and then not allow me to boot into anything but safemode unless I uninstalled the drivers. The problem went away completely for about a day and I was able to install the drivers again and everything was working fine but later it happened again. I noticed that while the computer is having the problem hibernation is impossible (doesn't show the option anywhere). I tried replacing the video card (most obvious culprit at this point) and that didn't even work! I'm thinking it needs a new motherboard entirely.
I have a vostro 1510 and I need to restore my laptop to how I first got it. Ive read about pressing f8 and it taking you to the advanced boot screen and that you just press the down arrow keys to repair your computer...the only problem is that there is no repair your computer option on that screen.

D is my recovery partition with 7gb full out of 10gb. This is good and dandy except when i open the D drive, there is one folder that says RECOVERY that is empty. Why is it empty when there are 7gb's of files in there? I already have hidden files shown
My acer orbicam worked fine, until I installed Ubuntu as dual boot. Now both on Ubuntu and on Windows XP the webcam image is upside down...and I cannot find any controls to flip the image...

I don't need all the features of photoshop, although I gather many many mac users just opt for pirating it
Gimp isn't properly "native" and I hate the gimp tbf. Gimpshop is the same. Seahorse hasn't been updated for 2 years.......
I'm at a loss. What do I do for a paint.net equivilent on a mac? What if I buy photoshop elements? Is that just for photo's, or can I make avatars on it too etc...?
How do you cope? What do you use? Do you just pirate photoshop?
I used to use nero to make a virtual cd/dvd drive to load all my .iso images without having to burn them, now nero imagedrive no longer works with vista?

I heard some crackling from my hard drive (presumably) and then all the hard drive functions stopped. I could move the mouse but opening files, folders etc. wasn't happening.
So it seems the HD just stopped working. I had to force reboot and after that all was fine again.
I'd like to make an image/clone of the hard drive in case I need to exchange it to a new one. Can someone point me to a good preferably free program that does the job. I have Vista 64bit OS and a 250GB HD that is some basic model that Dell ship
trying to do a factory image restore on my Studio XPS 1640. I've done this before on other Dells but this one I don't see the Dell image restore option as said in the booklet.
I don't see the Dell Facotry TOols either. I just have the following: startup repair, system restore, system image recovery, windows memory diagnostic, and command prompt.
I chose system image recovery and it doesn't pull up anything - it's for my own images I made. No option to pull up my Dell factory image which I still have in it's own seperate partition.
The Sony Vaio Z series is one of my main choices to get. One of the biggest reasons I was getting this laptop was the quality of the image but now I read a thread about the leakage of their screens

I have done that twice without success. It begins to reload and still only gets into safe mode and the system cannot do the initial setup in safe mode. When starting the reimage (restore to factory settings) process, the system initially appears to be running the restore but eventually it will stop and hang causing me to reboot. Logging on and going to the D drive and running the executable to restore the system it states that the drive is corupt.

View 8 Replies View RelatedI have a Dell Inspiron 17R Special Edition Laptop with Windows 8, bought on 12/16/2012. The Dell Backup and Recovery version 1.0.0.2 does not seem to work properly when using the "Recovery Media" option (“Create a copy of your factory image in case of critical hardware failure.”) for doing a "Factory Backup" with Discs.I am using new Maxell DVD+R discs.
After the first disc is written and validated it is ejected. A new blank disc is requested, placed in the drive, and then OK is clicked, and the new disc is in for a short while and then ejected without anything being written to it. Also, the DVD is still listed in the File Explorer as "DVD RW Drive (D:) Recovery" even though no DVD is in the drive and the drive tray is in (normally, when there is no DVD in the drive the DVD drive is no longer shown in the File Explorer).
If the backup is canceled and a blank disc is placed back in, then checking the properties of the disc shows 0 GB available and 0 GB Used - this error is corrected by Restarting the computer. After the Restart the disc is properly shown to have 3.9GB Available and 0GB Used.I tried again to do the backup and the same thing happened, with only the first disc actually being written and validated. That first disc is named “Recovery” and it does contain folders: Boot, EFI, preload, and Recovery. It has files: AUTORUN.INF, BOO.MGR, BOOTMGR, BOOTMGR.EFI, MASTERLOG, and Media.ico. Used space is 3.81 GB.
Since the Dell backup program for the factory image does not seem to recognize that a new blank disc is inserted after it was done with the first disc, I cannot make a backup of the factory image.
I just bought a new HP ENVY-4 with Windows 8 pre-installed. After some weeks in which it worked fine, the computer started to have some trouble. Then it simply did not start anymore. As I shitch on, stay for a while with black screen and then a blue mask appears saying "selected boot image did not authenticate". Only chance is therefore to press ENTER and then the computer shut off completely. I went trough your forum and tries almost everything. Recovery tools run, but not resolve. After the treatment, the problem is still there. I noticed that If I try to run the tool "repair problems to start windows", computer says that was not able to repair.. I also open BIOS and changed the setting relevant to secure boot and legacy mode... the computer simply does not start! I finally re-formatted the PC trhough the USB reboot key, (done with the HP support tool, when it was new)... same problem appear as I restart!

I have not been able to create a system image on my 15Z with Windows Backup - it fails every time. So I purchased Acronis True Image 2013, but I don't know which partitions to back up to get the equivalent of a system image in Windows Backup.
Here is how my computer was set up by Dell:
Disk 0 : 8.00 Gb Unnamed primary partition
Disk 1 : 500 Mb ESP partition FAT32, 40 Mb DIAGS partition FAT32, 500 Mb WINRETOOLS partition NFTS, 453 C: partition NFTS, and 12 Gb PBR partiton NFTS
