View 10 Replies View RelatedOne of the several Dell techs I have had to talk to told me not to turn on Windows updates after my last restore to factory settings. Anyone else ever been told this?
Sounds ridiculous. The guys name was JoJo (sp?). He told me I couldn't install any updates. Not SP1, nothing.
He said that Dell and MS were working on "issues" that would be cleared up in 2-3 months. Curiously, this is around the expiration of my warranty.
Basically, friend bought the laptop and got viruses on it. I went and reformatted the hard drive and installed Windows 8.1 and have no way to activate it now as there is no license key sticker anywhere to be found.
Is there any way to activate Windows point without buying another retail copy of Windows 8? Seems ridiculous that they would move to this method of having a SLIC BIOS with an inserted key that you can't activate off of.
I have z500 model laptop. I've just reinstalled windows using flash drive. But I installed a pro version and I need to activate it using my OEM Windows license. How can I do this?
View 3 Replies View RelatedMy laptop is brand new. I remember the first time I started it I clicked on CyberLink YouCam and the camera worked. I even took a picture with it.Since then I am trying to activate the webcam and it is not working. I wanted to Videochat on Skype but the webcam was not activated so there was no webcam option. I read that if you go on Facebook and click on "Change Profile Picture" and then "Take Picture" it activates the webcam, but not in my case.
When I start CyberLink YouCam it says that there was no webcam found and if I have to activate it if I have one. So here is my question: How do I activate the webcam? How that works. What button combination I have to press or whatever.I have the HP Envy dv7-7202eg with Windows 8.
I need to activate the NX processor to install windows 8 but in the bios do not see this option. I have an Inspiron N4050
View 6 Replies View RelatedI'm trying to migrate my HP from the hard-drive to a new ssd I bought. As far as I know windows 8 is supposed to activate based on the code burned into the machines bios, so I bought some hp recovery dvds online as HP recovery manager no longer seems to ship with these machines, so I couldn't make one, and reinstalled windows 8 onto the machine. After install and connecting to the internet the activation failed, it said the key was blocked. This can't be, this machine came with windows 8 preinstalled, so it must have a valid key and license I've already paid for.
I've tried burning reinstall media using the Microsoft media creation tool but that too fails once it connects to the internet to validate the activation
I would prefer to fresh reinstall, I'm not even sure the drive I took out works anymore or isn't altered at this point, plus its larger than my ssd so cloning would be a problem. And I've also read of problems cloning windows 8 secure boot installs regardless. In any case I would like to some how be able to get this recovery to work.
I am not able to activate my bluetooth device since i have upgraded my laptop to windows 8.1 from windows 8. I saw the video added by acer for this issue on acer's official site but the thing is I didn't find that option to turn on bluetooth on PC and Devices section from settings page.

View 2 Replies View RelatedI have an aspire v3-571g that came pre installed with win 8. The hard drive just crashed without warning, and I somehow lost my recovery media. When I buy a new hard drive, do I need to buy a new copy of windows, or is there another way to get my copy back.?
Also, without access to my computer, is there any good way to figure out which d4ives are compatible with my system?
Every 5 to 10 minutes after startup during a small period the laptop returns a blue screen with this message DRIVER_POWER_STATE_FAILURE.
It’s so devastating to have to witness this every time again. I thought I bought a reliable laptop but now I have doubts. What can I do to stop this. I have looked through the other messages but I can’t find the right solution for my problem.

View 2 Replies View RelatedI have a HP laptop model 2000-2C27CL running Windows 8 that I was given because the person cracked the screen. I have removed the bad screen and I am waiting for a replacement screen to be delivered. In the meantime I have hooked this laptop up to a external monitor. I reformatted the computer and get into Windows with no problem. I got all of the driver updates that the HP Update Center said it needed. I then proceed to get updates for the Win8 OS itself.. they download, install, and upon reboot I get the message...
"Failure configuring Windows updates Reverting changes Do not turn off your computer."
So I reformatted the computer again (very time consuming with Win8 IME) and the same thing happens all over again....

I have a Installed Windows 8 on my Dell Inpiron N5110 Laptop. It was working fine but since last 3 or 4days it is having some issue. Each time when i start my PC it shows me an error with blue screen which has written
KERNEL-SECURITy_CHECK_FAILURE
at last line of Error.
I tried Re Installing Windows 8 but still the same issue. Also tried Installing Windows 7 but When Windows 7 Installation Finishes the System Restarts and Shows a blue Purple (Dark Blue) saying Your System BIOS is not ACPI Compliant.
I have tried Installing Windows 7 and Windows 8 several time but still the issue persists.

I had a bad hard drive and HP sent me a new one with 3 recovery discs. I installed windows 8.1 using the 3 discs and got an installation failure message. No error code, just a message with the option to save log, quit, or retry so I retried. Hours passed and I got the same message. Called HP again and the woman told me to run an extensive hard drive test. So I'm waiting 4 hours now for that to do it's thing.
The original hard drive told me there is an imminent hard drive failure upon turning the laptop on every time. Other than that it works fine... so far. I've had the laptop almost a month now and this problem started too late for me to return it to the store....
Is it possible for me to use a recovery disc from the origional hard drive on the new one? I'll put the old one in again and make one.I really don't want to send the laptop away unless there's no other option.
After deactivating bluetooth either with the wifi-switch or clicking the bluetooth icon, it cannot be activated again by either of this two functions. If the BIOS is set to switch bluetooth with the wifi-switch, I could not find a way to activate it again. If the BIOS is set to not switch bluetooth with the wifi-switch, after rebooting the pc bluetooth works again. In any case the bluetooth LED is always off.
I tried Dell online pc diagnostic. It downloads and starts "DellPCDiagnostics.exe", I can see it is running in task manager. But the web page complains: Diagnostic launcher was downloaded but could not be started ...
I loaded all available updates, without success.

I know it's normally simple to activate the Turbo boost on the processor of all Lenovo Laptop .
There's no Intel Turbo Boost function in the BIOS (i have not tried to update the BIOS, not to loose the warranty). There' are no installed software on the laptop or the task manager. As my processor is a new series 4, I can't neither setup the Intel processor tool to check if i'm actually already at the top capacity of the processor's frequency.
My retailer says that the G510 laptop has a turbo boost (max. 3.4GHz) on its I7-4700MQ (2.4GHz normal frequency). Here's the link of my retailer's product's description: [URL] .....
Model: Lenovo z50-75
AMD Vision A8-7100 Processor ,max 3,0 GHz, Quad-Core
AMD Radeon R5 M230 Grafik, 2048 MB
8GB DDR3 Memory
Took this from an Notebook review on Notebookcheck(dot)net:
"It is comprised of the integrated Radeon R5 Kaveri graphics core and the dedicated Radeon R5 M230 GPU. The GPUs operate in a so-called Crossfire array, i.e. both cores can perform the calculation of displayed images. This process is, for example, used in computer games. Only the integrated GPU is used for routine tasks and in battery mode"
i've managed to finally install Windows on the Laptop.
But unfortunately he's pretty slow, even with the 4GB added memory.
When i bought it, it was said it had 4x 1,8Ghz CPU speed which could go on up to 3Ghz.
Also this dual Graphics solution is somewhy worse than the desktop Computers is, even though the Desktop computer has way worse components. It's said that the normal usage of the computer only requires the graphic processors of the GPU. however there is a graphic card with dedicated memory which should be activated whenever requirement on higher performance applications / games is needed.
I got a big problem.
I can't activate my 5530 WWAN Card.
The software switch Fn+F2 can only turn WLAN and bluetooth on/off.
And there are no hardware switch on the mini 12.
And when I'm in the dell wireless manager, and I press activate. It tells me that I new to push a button so that the card is activated.
i bought a new lattitide 6500 from an outlet type place, it came fully loaded with more than it said in the specs, web cam etc
i had an issue and they replace the mobo, when the guy was replacing the board, i noticed it had a sim card slot with all hardware present.
Looks like the default drivers have 3 finger gestures but no two finger right click. What gives. Can I just download a different driver?
