i am on original sony windows xp sp2, my question is how to activate the fingerprint progrqme or install it i want to open my session with my fingerprint like in windows seven) all the drivers are installled even those of the fingerprint

I did a fresh install of Windows and managed to get everything working but the fingerprint reader. When I try to get it to work with Window's login using protector suite 09 I get this error message: A biometric sensor has filed".

Now my fingerprint reader works perfectly with firefox 3.
Does anyone with VAIO Z and installed with win7 x64 notice the fingerprint driver have a little problem?

View 7 Replies View RelatedI was asked to fix up an old Vaio SZ18GP (I think it was SZ160p in the US?) The owner's son had had a go on it and deleted the recovery partition and basically screwed this thing up beyond all belief. So no restore CD, no recovery partition on D:, nothing.
I used our institutional licence for XP Pro+SP3 to get Windows up and running and got most of the drivers from Sony Australia's website. Followed some instructions on a clean install using XP from somewhere else which helped a lot, but now I'm stuck - I have no idea how to get the fingerprint reader to run. The Device Manager has it detected and working, but I don't know if there is supposed to be a utility of some sort which allows it to start or what.
I did take the Vaio control center from Sony so I can see all that stuff, but I don't see anything about the FPR in there at all. Anyone got any ideas? I presume it should pop up and ask me to register fingerprints at some point or something, but nothing so far.
Also, got the webcam up and running with no problems once SP3 was on (needed that shutdown-freeze fix), and although it seems to work it doesn't seem to work. None of the chat sites seem to detect it. The one I am most familiar with is CamFrog - the setup page has it running fine and I can see a preview on the screen of my face looking at it, but as soon as you try to connect to a user or room it says it's non functional. Not sure if it's just screwed or misconfigured or what. It shows up fine in Device Manager and you can access it and make it take a picture in the Scanning and Camera Wizard in XP, but Google chat and CamFrog seem to dislike it.

Sounds ridiculous. The guys name was JoJo (sp?). He told me I couldn't install any updates. Not SP1, nothing.
He said that Dell and MS were working on "issues" that would be cleared up in 2-3 months. Curiously, this is around the expiration of my warranty.

Basically, friend bought the laptop and got viruses on it. I went and reformatted the hard drive and installed Windows 8.1 and have no way to activate it now as there is no license key sticker anywhere to be found.
Is there any way to activate Windows point without buying another retail copy of Windows 8? Seems ridiculous that they would move to this method of having a SLIC BIOS with an inserted key that you can't activate off of.
I know it's normally simple to activate the Turbo boost on the processor of all Lenovo Laptop .
There's no Intel Turbo Boost function in the BIOS (i have not tried to update the BIOS, not to loose the warranty). There' are no installed software on the laptop or the task manager. As my processor is a new series 4, I can't neither setup the Intel processor tool to check if i'm actually already at the top capacity of the processor's frequency.

i've managed to finally install Windows on the Laptop.
But unfortunately he's pretty slow, even with the 4GB added memory.
When i bought it, it was said it had 4x 1,8Ghz CPU speed which could go on up to 3Ghz.
Also this dual Graphics solution is somewhy worse than the desktop Computers is, even though the Desktop computer has way worse components. It's said that the normal usage of the computer only requires the graphic processors of the GPU. however there is a graphic card with dedicated memory which should be activated whenever requirement on higher performance applications / games is needed.

The software switch Fn+F2 can only turn WLAN and bluetooth on/off.
And there are no hardware switch on the mini 12.
And when I'm in the dell wireless manager, and I press activate. It tells me that I new to push a button so that the card is activated.

i had an issue and they replace the mobo, when the guy was replacing the board, i noticed it had a sim card slot with all hardware present.
Looks like the default drivers have 3 finger gestures but no two finger right click. What gives. Can I just download a different driver?

I even took a picture with it.Since then I am trying to activate the webcam and it is not working. I wanted to Videochat on Skype but the webcam was not activated so there was no webcam option. The problem that I have now, which is quite annoying really is that when I type in a browser, it becomes deactivated and I have to activate it again in order to continue typing. It happens very often and it's almost impossible to have typed a long message or a document without a browser being deactivated and me having to activate it again and again. Same happens with Word.

View 6 Replies View RelatedI have this problem of wireless in my 15R 5537. I upgraded from windows 8 to 8.1 recently only to know that wireless driver was incompatible. I then visited the Dell support site and downloaded the wireless driver for the model i'm using and the OS installed. But when I tried to install it I got "Activate Bluetooth using wireless switch" error message.
I didn't know what wireless switch was since (fn+f2) was not working either. I came to know that there is wireless option in bios menu from various posts. But there was none in my laptop under "Advance" option in bios menu. I run bios version A08.
I tried to reinstall old windows 8(with a different CD this time) but wireless didn't work in this one either...
