I have a Lenovo Ideapad p500 Touch. I recently upgraded my router to an AC1900 Router, and with it i wanted to update the internal wifi on the Lenovo. I purchased an Intel 7260 AC Dual Band with Bluetooth seen HERE . Install was pretty straight forward, seeing how im a IT Tech. Where I had an issue is with the drivers and getting bluetooth properly set up. The wifi part works without an issue. I can't seem to get bluetooth to work at all. When i go to device manager I see bluetooth but only if I select to view "hidden Devices". Im running Win 8.1 64x, Ive tried installing the drivers from intel, but it never seems to actually install the bluetooth driver. I don't get the icon in the system tray.
if everyone else has this problem or there is something corrupt with my windows?
When I switch the graphics to Speed or back to Stamina my system tray icons get bigger and look distorted. The only way to get them back to normal is to go into the appearance settings and set the icons for another size, it will make them small again regardless of what size i make them.
I should add that playing with the captions dropdown item in Advanced personalization just distorts them to a horrible mess.
I've modded the desktop Catalyst 9.4 drivers, games perform well, better than the provided Dell Catalyst.
What I would like to do however, is be able to alter the GPU clocks. Not by much, just a little.
I've tried AMD GPU clock tool; but this does not let me fix new clock values for the ATI 3670. I enter a new value, and they revert to the default right away
On my Pavilion dv6, a file (mobogenie/nengenie.dll) belonging to the Windows 7 system has been blocked by the anti virus/malware programn due to malware infection of this file. That is as it should be. However, pc peformance has been decreased (resources run out after 1 hrs use, lagging) as a result. What do I do? Do I have to recover Windows 7 or have clean up of my hard disc, and how?
I just purchased a new Pavilion m7-1015dx Laptop and need to make the System Recovery Discs ... (which I realize restores the Laptop to factory default).. btw, I've already created the System Repair Disc.
However, I read an article about creating a System Backup Image that allows you to Recovery EVERYTHING if lost, all your installed programs, etc.
First Question ::: if I do the System Backup IMAGE ... Do I still need to create the System Recovery disc's (mfg's default) also??
The Second Question ::: If I create the System Recovery discs do I still need that Recovery Partition ??
I am really really wanting to partition my C: drive ... it's huge plus I hate seeing storage folders intermingled with system folders .. Currently using a Symbol/Character to separate them.
As of now, I can't partition the C:drive as all partitions are used.. max is 4 and I've got 4 .... C:drive, System Partition, HPTools Partition, and Recovery Partition.
I just received an HP dv5t and I'm having a strange problem. The CD/DVD tray is really hard to get open... I have to press the button very hard, to the point the laptop is sliding to the left and the tray is moving inward. In fact, it really doesn't feel like a "button"... there's no detectable "give" to it.
My laptop fell off a table whilst the disk tray was open and jammed the disk tray shut.
It didn't damage the laptop at all, just made a whirring noise every time I turned it on and off because there was a CD still in there (been like that for a few months). However, today the tray opened a little and so I pulled it right out. I know enough about computers to know that I haven't damaged anything else, just removed the tray.
Now my laptop won't turn on, and even the charging light doesn't come on. A piece of plastic ribbon/connector that was attached to the tray is loose - could it be that?
I just got my new Studio XPS 16, but accidentally disabled the quickset tray icon. I've checked registry and tried reinstalling quickset, but nothing i do can get it back. Is there any other way to do it without having to reinstall my whole computer? (as i've already installed several other programs, it'll be quite some effort).
i want to use the DVD tray to add a 2nd hard drive using one of the many 2nd HD Hard Drive Caddy Trays i see online, but i want to use a solid state drive in it. Can this be done? From what i ascertain via product literature, it appears that any caddy tray i see online says "accepts 2.5' 12.7MM SATA HDD only" or some such." While there are many SSD's that are 2.5 inch, I've only seen ones that are either 7mm or "7mm (with 9.5mm adapter)." Is there a product (either a T520-compatible 9.5mm caddy tray or a 12.77mm SSD) that can make this work?
I've recently started to have a problem with my HP Pavilion ZE4900 notebook. For some reason, it can't get a charge.
When the AC adapter is plugged in, an indicator light will light up to confirm that the laptop is charging. But whenever I plug the AC in, the light doesn't come on anymore. Sometimes the light will come on, only to go back off a second later. I've ruled out the AC adapter by using another one and I've ruled out the battery by taking it out and trying to power it off the AC alone. With both, I still have the same problem, which leads me to believe that it could be an internal problem.
I have Pavilion G6 notebook. Some times when I charging, it says plugin and not charging. how can i solve this ?And I replaced laptop motherboard 3 days ago. I want to know if battery has issue, it will affect to damage to motherboard or not ? And HP battery check shows this. I tried solutions that show in window but not happen.
not sure if this is the correct board, but here goes. i have a Pavilion g6 note book that has had changes made to the system such as replacment of the anti virus from Norton to another along with a malware and some other spyware .the windows media player was replaced with another media player of unknown origin. all went well for a day untill yesterday when nothing would load up on the screen apart from what looks like a screen saver from the choice you get when first setting up, but this is as far as i can get it to work as far as getting too far into the system goes. i have managed to get to what appears to be a diognostic page . apon performing a hard disk scan it comes up with this message. " failure id: 94le1s-5s071f-mfpv4k-619k03", what does this mean?, and is it able to be fixed?.
Ok, I havent had sound on my HP for 8 months. I have done all the troubleshooting I can and I really need to have sound on this PC. I have been working on this all week. Do I need to do a factory restore?? Model XY980UA#ABA, HP Pavilion DV6 Notebook.

When one turns off the Bluetooth adapter from the tray icon, the tray icon disappears. In order to turn the BT adapter back on, it appears one must go to the Device Manager to re-enable the BT adapter. This is inconvenient and not awfully intuitive for a usual business end-user. In the past the BT icon in the tray would remain, but turn color to indicate it's off. And the end user could right-click it and turn it back on when needed.
Currently it appears, turning off the BT adapter, actually disables it and it "disappears". Is there a way to simply turn the adapter off and more importantly back on without having users get into the device manager from their standard user accounts?

I have a Lenovo Thinkpad X201. Due to the nature of my work I am frequently required to boot up from a variety of operating systems. Recently, to protect integrity of the OSes, I moved out Ubuntu onto a spare HDD so now I have two hard disks - one that boots into Windows 7 and another that boots into Ubuntu. The problem is that if I connect the Ubuntu hard disk via USB for bootup, it is death slow and I have had instances where the hard disk developed bad sectors because the USB cable came loose and disconnected the drive. The only other option I am using currently is to manually swap the internal HDDs every time I need to change OSes. I was wondering if I can purchase a spare hard disk tray with its rubber mounts so that all I need to do is unscrew the hard disk bay cover (one screw) and swap the drives rather than have to unscrew the entire assembly and then screw it onto the other HDD repeatedly.
Looking for FRU number for the entire SATA HDD assembly (minus the HDD itself of course but including the rubber rails).
I have been having a problem with my laptop, I think it may be a virus but it is not being caught by the McAfee virus scan. So there are two issues: The first is whenever I try to download and install a program or update it tells me a part was not downloaded, forcing me to stop the installing process. The other problem is when I open my "Downloads" folder is message appears "COM Surrogate has stopped working" and when I close it it pops up again and does that about 6 times.
A friend of mine has this model ( zd8180ea) and is having a peculiar problem. When he edits documents or surfs the web his keyboard fails to type some letters. He writes a word and some letters do not show up. Often space fails to work and words, attempts of words, are linked together. I am not a big HP expert but I think there is a faulty keyboard connection. I could be wrong and a software solution is available. Can anyone give me a hand?
I have a HP Pavillion g6 laptop and my screen brightness keeps fluctuating to round off fron 100% to 60-80% at an interval of 10-15 seconds which is very distorting.
I've been having problems with my battery and so downloaded and installed the latest version of the Hardware Diagnostics Tool (sp63599). I then followed the HP instructions for checking the battery (turn off computer; power on and the ESC to enter System Diagnostics. My notebook shuts down almost immediately!
So I figured I'd uninstall this new Tool, but it wasn't listed in Programs in control Panel, nor in All Programs. I did find the new partition it created and deleted those files but the partition remains and I don't it too.
