I just bought a HP Pavilion 17 Notebook PC (product number F9M00UAR#ABA) with win 8.1 x 64 installed and the wireless card will not "see" any 802.11n networks. The installed driver is 5.0.37.0 with a date of 11/25/2013.
I've seen issues with upgrades to 8.1 affecting the adapter, but nothing about it not functioning properly out of the box on a new WIN 8.1 machine. how to force it to see 802.11n?
i am using HP PAVILION 15-E015TX. i reset my windows 8 OS recently because of some corruption of data. after resetting the OS everything is reinstalled to its original state. But the Ralink RT3290 802.11bgn Wi-Fi Adapter is not detecting the wifi which is worked properly before resetting the OS. when i run the troubleshoot option under HP SUPPORT ASSISTANT it shows a red mark while resetting the adapter.

View 5 Replies View RelatedI have a HP Envy 15-j040eo that worked fine until about two weeks ago but then it did no longer recognize my wireless-n. At that time I had Win 8.1 64 bit with automatic updates. Other computers and iPhones still recognized my wifi.
After spending hours and days with the HP Support we finally did a complete reset of the computer. Now I have Windows 8 with the updates disabled and wireless-n works fine until I allow windows to update. If windows is allowed to update the computer do not recognize the network anymore. With other than -n networks or with cable it works fine. The only way that me and the HP Support has found get the wifi working is to completely reset the computer. If I only make a refresh the wifi still don't work.
The wireless adapter is a Ralink RT3290 802.11bgn and it works with driver 5.0.25.0 on windows 8. When I first had the issue I tried to update to driver V5.0.46.0 but it still did not find the wifi-n in windows 8.1.
BIOS is updated to latest version and even if I turn automatic updates off the network went dead when upgrading from Windows 8 to 8.1 but on Windows 8 it works as long as I choose not to update the driver for the wireless adaptor.
As I prefer to have windows 8.1 and updated with automatic updates; how can I configure it to still work with wireless-n?
I bought my HP 15 a few days ago and since yesterday (after I restarted it) it can't find my network. Also, sometimes it finds all the surrounding networks, sometimes one or two, sometimes none of them, but it never shows mine.
All my other devices connect to the network just fine and also when I connect the laptop via Ethernet cable internet works normally. I tried reinstalling the adapter and driver, but nothing happens, the problem is still here.
I just received a dual band Time Warner Cable router that I want to wirelessly connect with my HP Pavilion dv6t-6c00 CTO Quad Edition Entertainment Notebook PC that I had for 2 and a half years now. The laptop has no trouble seeing and connecting to the 2.4 Ghz band, but does not even see 5Ghz. I tried playing around with the router settings, but had no luck this far. I believe that it should be able to see it, but I'm not 100% sure. Whether I need to update my drivers or anything for it to be able to connect to 5G? Or perhaps purchase a new network card or adapter? Or am I out of luck connecting it to 5G?

I tried to check my wireless network software update and that too is up to date. My colleague suggested me to attach an external dual band wireless dongal. Is that possible to replace the network card with a dual band one if this machine does not have that one. I am really annoyed with my laptop wifi. It is working with 2.4GHz wifi signal, but due to interference problem as stated by internet provider it is not working at good speed and speed fluctuates a lot.

Router: D-Link Dual Band AC1000 2.5GHz & 5GHz bands DIR-810L
I set up the router and worked out the kinks and updated the software. My laptop finds and connects with the 2.5GHz Band anywhere in the house. My laptop does not even find or see the 5GHz Band. However my Galaxy Tablet finds both bands and can connect with both, thought the 5GHz seems weaker.
I noticed that my Galaxy Tablet finds a lot more wi fi networks than my laptop (that are in houses around the street). I believe my laptop should find the 5Ghz Band and be able to connect. So I'm hoping this is a software or driver issue, and just a setting that needs to be adjusted. I don't know much about Wi Fi drivers, but I"m a Vista survivor, so I should be able to solve this.
I don't even know what program runs the WiFi software on my laptop? Or where to find it?
My pavilion g6 laptop's wifi adapter hasn't been working correcty recently. my internet router and networks are running fine as they should be, but every time i reboot my laptop, it keeps saying that there is no connection and no other wifi netowrks, when there clearly is other networks because of my surrounding neighbours.
I have tried a system restore to resolve the problem, but it has no affect and my norton is affecting the system restore of disabling the antivirus.

I have a windows 8.1 64 bit HP Pavilion G7 2270us. I have had nothing but trouble with the Bluetooth since the 8.1 update. I used to be able to reinstall the driver and get it working again, however lately nothing works. I have installed sp59632, 58515, 64041, 58944, and 64825 and none are working. My computer does not even show the option to turn the bluetooth on from the pc settings menu. I am adding some pictures to show you what my computer shows in device management and troubleshooter to see .....
View 3 Replies View RelatedI have the HP Pavilion g6 2346 nr and I am missing the Ralnik bluetooth driver ,the last time I saw it in devices it was the 4.0 driver. I downloaded the driver from HP site an hour ago it was in a pkg (sp60071) I opened it and clicked on setup but all it did was install the device and not the driver. The instruction I read were to delete the old driver first which I did and that left me with no bluetooth in the devices column until I clicked setup in the pkg I previosly described.
BTW I can connect to the internet but this driver (bluetooth) is for my bluetooth devices ,cell etc .
I have HP Pavilion G6 2312ax Model. I have just upgraded my windows 8 to windows 8.1 from the store.

I just installed a Windows 7 64 Bit (Professional) onto my HP Pavilion DV6-7014nr, and now it is unable to detect any networks. I checked device manager and there is not even a tab for network adapters and the only message I see on diagnostics is "Install a driver for your network adapter. Windows did not detect a properly installed network adapter. If you have a network adapter, you will need to re-install the driver." Where do I find the specific driver I need and how do I get it onto my laptop without being able to use the internet on it? Also, I noticed under "Other devices" in the device manager that almost everything under it has the yellow triangle mark next to it, like for the ethernet controller, network controller, PCI device, USB controller, etc.

When the laptop was ordered one of the upgrades was an "Intel Wireless-N card with Bluetooth" Upon receiving and configuring the laptop I have discovered that what was actually installed was an Intel Wifi 1000 adapter, which only operates in the 2.4ghz frequency range. After getting transferred around HP for a while basically they could not tell me if this was a mistake or just what they offer (their website is very vague on what "wireless-N" adapter you get). They offered to either credit me for the $25 upgrade or I could return the laptop. I elected to get the credit as I am otherwise happy with the laptop.
I can easily replace the wi-fi card; however does anyone on this forum know if the laptop has the proper antenna to make use of a wireless N card that transmits on the 5ghz (and 2.4ghz) bands?
I just bought a HP Notebook PC 15-g013dx at Best Buy. They assured me it was 5Ghz wireless WiFi compatible. But only the 2.4 from the router shows up as an available connection.
My wife's old iPad can access the 5Ghz. I'm a tech dummy so I don't know if I have to download a driver or something? Or do I need some kind of adapter?
I have recently had my broadband upgraded to 5Ghz 100mbps however my HP ENVY m6-1310sa can't detect the 5G band. I just want to know if it has the right network card to do this, my laptop supports 802.11n which should be able to,yet still can't detect the 5ghz, whereas my phone and tablet can detect it.
View 5 Replies View RelatedI have L530 with Centrino Advanced-N 6205 wireless built-in. The computer does not see any of the n networks I have setup (either 2.4GHz or 5GHz). When I get advanced properties on the centrino adapter, the "Wireless mode" shows only a/b/g options and not n.
Is the 6205 adapter compatible with 802.11n? If yes, how can I enable it? I have the latest drivers installed thru Lenovo Thinkvantage Tools app.
Realtek 2x2 11b/g/n wireless LAN M.2 adapter does not detect my home 5ghz network. Driver (version 2012.10.224.2014) is up to date. 2ghz band works fine. Could it be that 5ghz is not supported by this $2k laptop?

it starts, when the computer goes in to sleep mode and it "wakes up" not able to find networks.
then, it just randomly stops finding networks and disconnects in the middle of usage.
and then, the wifi card is not detected AT ALL by the device manager.
I called dell support and they replaced my WIFI card. it worked for about a week and a half give or take and now im writing this post connected to my iphone 3G network through usb cable. luckily, the iphone is not using USB 3.0 protocol or else i wouldnt be able to do even that BECAUSE THE USB 3.0 PORTS ARE NOT WORKING TOO !
I have HP Envy M6 1225 dx. The Ralink wifi driver provided with it served me well till a year. But now, i don't due to windows update or something else, i'm having problem with it. Sometimes, the driver works well, but most and most of the time, windows have problem with the driver. It, either mentions " driver or hardware related problem" while i troubleshoot it, or sometimes it doesn't even detect the device in device manager. I even tried reinstalling the driver by the driver which i was provided with the laptop bt the same problem still persists. I'd like to know whether the windows updates is disturbing it because once i'd found the Ralink wifi driver update on the windows update list which had created problem and i uninstalled it. Now i cant find that driver update in the windows updates list.

Other devices do connect. If I change my router to 802.11g, but change no other settings at all, the HP doe connect. But if I flip the router back to 802.11n, the HP sees the network and correctly identifies it as an 802.11n network, but will not connect.The Router is a D-Link DIR-615 (N300 2.4ghz).
View 1 Replies View RelatedI came across an intel 7260 card and installed it in my HP G72 with no problems. The notebook boots into Windows 7 64 bit with no errors. As soon as everything loads I try to connect to the internet and get "No Wireless networks found". I was using the intel wireless manual troubleshooter which stated the "radio is off" I checked the f12 key and have a blue light. Device Manager sees the adapter with no errors. The windows mobility center has the wifi network area greyed out. The Hp Wireless Assistant only shows bluetooth. I switched out that card for the old card and can access my network. if there is an fn key combo I need to press or a command I can enter in the command prompts or a regestry setting that needs to be changed.

If I reboot the Windows a few times it finds the adapter and connects to the wifi, however after 10-15 minutes Windows freezes and restarts. Is this a hardware or software problem? How could I sort this problem out?

I have run the driver update tool, and it says that I have the most up to date driver installed. I have also run the "Diagnose Problem" tool, and it says that there are no problems. However, the computer constantly looses internet connection. I assume it has something to do with the wireless adapter, because all of the other wireless devices in the house have no issues. The operating System is Windows 7.

View 9 Replies View Relatedmy Acer travelmate 5720 (same laptop that had problems last time) running Windows Vista Home Premium has recently been having some problems.
I.e:
-Any of the Acer Empowering Technology Applications crash uncontrollably
-I can't find any networks, and it's not my router I checked.
-My windows firewall won't turn on which is strange.
-There might be other problems but I haven't found any others yet
I have run a "Deep" virus scan and found nothing.
WLAN is shown in device manager as functional, it even can find networks in range and everything. But when I want to connect to a network it gets to a point when it asks me for the username and pass, and stops there. The error sometimes says that it can't identify the server or that i should just try to reconnect. I tried connecting to various networks, and I can't even make it tell me that my pass is wrong... It seems that it isn't able to communicate with the server. It passes Intel wlan tests until the 'association' test.
Rainstalling the drivers and/or the windows didn't help, should I send it for RMA?
I've got an Acer Ferrari 4002 I bought back in 2005. It's been a great laptop so far.
Last year I had the ac adapter burnt out by a shortcircuit apparently and had to get a replacement adapter.
It's worked great so far, but lately I've noticed that my laptop can not connect to wired broadband or dial up when on ac power, it only works on the laptop battery but it only lasts for about 40 mins!
USB adsl however works.
Can we say for sure this is a hardware problem? Or could it also be a software related seeing that my laptop has been behaving funny lately as it can not hibernate properly and all.
Will the mac pick up any wireless networks? I notice there is an apple brand wireless base, and wasn't sure if that was needed for the wireless to work?
Will any backup external hard drive work with the mac? For example, I have a WD Passport drive that I use with my Dell. Will it be compatible with the mac?
I had to upgrade my system to Window 7 Ultimate, the laptop came with regular Windows 7.
I updated all drivers and everything else works perfect except for that I cannot connect to any wireless network. No matter how close I am to a network the computer does not recognize it.
Then I finally noticed the wireless button on the keyboard being red and no matter what I do, I cannot get it to go off.
Also just noticed in Device managers a few "!" next to some items
PCI Device is not installed
Network Controller is not installed
